I concur with your suggestion for high waisted jeans. It made such a huge difference, not just how I look but comfort. Also, the shapewear. I have found some shapewear camis/tanks that slim the belly-and I highly suggest reading the shapewear brand's information. After discovering the one I purchase, I was supposed to step into the tank top, not put it over my head, it actually did a much better job of smoothing. Lastly, I know from dealign with my belly most of my life sometimes wearing too big to hide it is just as bad as too tight, empire waist always would have people ask if I was pregnant--and now at 54, I'd imagine it would confuse them! I dont' know if this counts as a distracftion, but I keep my accessories high. Oh, a good, well fitted belt that is not flashy or elaborate, and you will not catch me wearing a fanny pack (I still can't believe that they have not only returned, but have remained popular here in the States. I wish people would just leave them for hikes and camping. OOH--I know people seem to be crying "give me pockets!" more these days, but I think a dress with pockets, or even putting my hands, or anything large in my front pockets is also going to draw attention to my belly. So, yeah that is a lot, but while may have had this pooch forever, I am have some nice legs & my chest doesn't look half bad for almost 55! We cant' have everything. I love your channel, your advice is always logical and of course your accent is a delight.

As an apple shape, I always wear darker, or cool colors from the waist down. Navy, black, denim, grey, etc. Cool colors recede from the viewer. Then, I wear v neck or button down blouses and shirts. The v neck highlights the neck and face. This works well for me as high collars and turtleneck styles are not flattering with my short neck. I will also wear horizontal tops but only with an open cardigan or jacket, creating the column of color you discussed. I'm working toward minimizing my tummy and have lost 40+ pounds by trying to "think French" in my eating habits!
Thank you so much for your empowering guidance! ❤

I’m a healthy weight, 125 lbs., but during and after menopause, I got a little extra fat between the waist and hipbones that I call a hiproll. Looking at other women my age, 63, it seems that most, if not all, of us get this. I used to be teased for my concave belly: “Hey, Kim, where did you leave your belly?”, “You know, tummies are supposed to stick out, not in!” I did have trouble keeping my weight up to normal in my younger days, but still, the mature body stores fat differently. So long as it’s not that dangerous visceral fat, I can live with a little rounded tummy, they’re supposed to be. The hardest thing is finding jeans that fit there. I don’t hide my tummy, I just try to de-emphasize it when it’s easy to do so. By wearing those long tunic tops to cover it, we look shapeless and block-like, it’s better to just draw the focus elsewhere. Being petite with skinny legs, long tops over leggings make me look like one of those two-stick popsicles! So, I tuck in all my tops, I like my shape to be visible, but not squeezed. My tummy didn’t stop me from wearing a white silk jersey dress for Christmas and I refuse to suffer shapewear! Thanks for your tips!❤

I have found shape-wear that is very comfortable. I'm 70, 127 lbs with a bit of a tummy. I don't always wear shape-where, but do use alot of the tips Marie has shared with us. I"m also GUILTY of some of the mistakes YOU mentioned, such as skinny legs and long top!! LOL ! A trick I've found that serves me well, is a shirt that has a longer back than front...for some reason it does work well for me! I think it high-lights straight posture and looks pretty good. I also sometimes tuck in just part of the front of my shirt, especially if I"m wearing shorts. (I live in a beach community). Happy New Year!

What has helped me is wearing a camisole under my clothes, my sweaters glide over my tummy. Not spank like camisoles, the plan satin/silk like camisole. It also feels good on my skin. I’m also heavy on top so this also helps with hiding bra lines and bulge.

I have only in the last year gone up a dress size -- all around the waist -- and it is very confidence-zapping. So I am following Marie-Anne's tips. Two that didnt make the list for this video, but are in the others, are to draw the eye upward with accessories. Marie- Anne, your tres chic evolving haircut does that SO well! I also recommend NYDJ brand jeans. They accommodate grown-up torsos without being "mom" jeans.

Hi Marie-Anne! I work in fashion and am passionate about my job. I love fashion and I love your channel! It feeds my fashion-loving soul :) I emphatically agree so much with nearly everything you say! I have travelled a few times to Europe and Italy, and am always so inspired by the culture and fashion.
My top tips are for a curvy physic are:
    1. Have a line stop at the smallest part of your body, eg. The knee, the ankle and/or your natural waist or below the bust, and avoid things that cut you off at the larger parts, eg the hips and the calves.
    2. Quality over quantity: The quality of the fabric and cut of a garment can change how you feel, even if it the difference initially seems insignificant.
    3. My biggest tip: Try to find and emphasise something you love about your body instead of focusing on what you hate. Maybe you have a great bust, or a gorgeous butt, or beautiful long legs, or a lovely long neck, or even a facial feature you love like your lips or eyes, or wear a killer pair of shoes or spangled earrings, and make that the star and focal point or your outfit.
I am 37 but am often mistaken for being in my 20's so I must be getting something right! Maybe you already know these tips r maybe they are helpful to someone, either way it is a pleasure watching your channel and thank you for sharing your insights :)

I have heard (but haven't tried yet), is avoid high-waisted jeans and go for mid-rise. The high waists go up and over your belly and emphasize the roundness, while mid-rises fasten right over the problem area and give some structure. Also to avoid jeans with any stretch and stick to rigid denim, and stick with zippers and avoid the button flies, which can bulge. Love all these tips, thank you 😊

Love all of your ideas. They are spot-on! I am 5'8" hourglass with a long torso and now a tummy that "mirrors" my backside. Lol. Some cannot or do not wear tunics, but I have to have tunic length just to fall normally as shirts would for a regular-length or short-torso person. I also prefer tunics that cover my backside, for work. I love dresses, and I agree that for me, the A lines are much more flattering on me. So for me, tunics are a must. Lol, I'm not sure I'm committed enough to go for shapeware haha, but I did notice a big difference when I switched to full coverage (super cute!) boy shorts. I even buy them one size larger than I really need so they come up higher to my waist and down to the very top of my legs. No more VPL, and for me especially - no more lumps and bumps being created by the top waistband - now that they actually come up to my waist and not mid belly like when I bought bikini style.

Would love to see older, shorter women!

Hi Marie-Anne enjoyed watching your very helpful tips for a flat belly. I wear control top pantyhose when wearing pants or high waisted and very affordable shapewear from
C & A . Keeps my tummy in and feels great ( especially during a meal) I used to wear Spanx or similar but all feel exactly like you said. Too tight and uncomfortable. I know this dept store has many subsidiaries accross Europe but not aware if are represented in the US. Looking forward to more videos in 2024. 👋🤗

I had Spanx and gave up on them. After showering, putting on make up, doing hair, then you go to get dressed and have to work up a sweat to get them on! They are miserable pieces of clothing. They also shrink if they get thrown in the dryer, then you can't wear them at all. Makes them a rip off for the price. I used to buy the cheapest ones I could find and they worked, but some sales woman at Cacique talked me into trying them, said they were better and worth the price! Never went back there, they can't even fit a bra correctly, always too big.

Five years after menopause, my waist went AWOL. It's a nightmare when trying to buy clothes. If I can button/zip over my abdomen, the garment is too big everywhere else. Soma shapewear has NO reducing ability whatsoever. To make matters more challenging, I'm very short (5 feet/151cm) and have a full (34D) bust (which I support with wonderful Simone Perele bras; I highly recommend them). Lingerie makers fashion shapewear for taller women, so they extend down to my hips or up to my bra, which is uncomfortable and unnecessary. Help! PLEASE advise of a strong, comfortable waist/abdomen-cinching brand. I used to be so hot when I was younger; now even though I'm not fat, like many older women, I feel like a blob.

Bonjour Helen, please do not feel like you are alone. There are very many women with the same feelings. I am hoping that there will be recommendations to good shape wear in the comments so please do come back regularly. I strongly suggest working on discovering and accepting your bodyshape ( free course here www.marieannelecoeur.com/shape-up-ecourse.html) then discovering your style objectives for your shape there are links in the free course I just linked to. I also highly recommend watching this ruclips.net/video/T-focA7cU5k/видео.html it will turn your style around and make some amazing changes in your life 😘

You didn't mention asymmetrical tops, but I think they work well. My favorite summer top is the Grace blouse by Oh My Gauze. It comes to a point front and back and does a great job of hiding my tummy. Other than that, I wear high waisted pants, tuck most tops in, and often wear an open cardigan or jacket.

I have a decent waistline compared to my hips, but I've always had a pop-out pooch lower belly. I've had very good luck with a-line dresses with a tie-on belt where the belt-ends hang down. The belt immediately draws attention to the waistline and the ends cover up the tummy a little. This works really well with wrap dresses too.

I love your videos as I have a classic taste with a twist when it comes to dressing. I've been overweight for years now due to health issues, however, when I was slim I was a pear shape, but now I'm an apple tummy and bum with slim hips, bust and shoulders. My belly means I have to see up on bottoms sometimes, but if I have to size up on a top they are too big on the bust and shoulders. Trying to find a balance between the two is a mission, could you do a video on this please?

I'm 46 and came across your videos as even though I'm an image consultant myself from a long time ago, I was looking for new tips on dressing a pear/apple hybrid shape body. I'm sure there are are many women who don't fall in one body shape and would appreciate a range of videos that cover the hybrids that must be out there. I've found some things that work, but other things can really frustrate me. I look forward to seeing something in the coming weeks. ☺️
