Good day lady. Thank youuuuuuuu for your videos. The red dress.. can be taken to a park.. Where they have a climbing object with ropes. And the dress can be used to easily make a tent for children ... to play in. Just throw the dress over a few ropes.. And you created a mini house (tent).. I would strongly recommend against cleavage. Showing the top of the breast is inadvisable for anyone, but larger women usually have a 'wobble' element too, which is unfortunate and distraction.
I once bought a double-breasted trench coat that seemed to make me look huge. My ever-chic sister told me to bring it back to the store. She went with me & picked out another double-breasted trench, but with the vertical rows of buttons a bit closer together. It did the trick!
Double breasted coats and jackets add that extra layer of fabric Alice 👍 bringing the buttons closer together would have the effect of merging them into pone vertical line which would help 👍 it sounds like your sister knows what she is about 😃
Very refreshing to see advice that celebrates the wearer rather than making them feel somehow inadequate. Very essential to find clothes that love us back. This is helping me rethink how to look for a jean.
I work in retail, and a woman my age, 55, was looking for skinny jeans because she wanted to be in style.. she asked for my advice.. I told her skinny jeans are not a good idea for anyone.. I steered her to the flared jeans as they are my preferred as well! She was skeptical because she wanted to be hip like the kids.. but decided to try them on.. she absolutely loved them and thanked me for steering her away from the skinny jeans!
Thank you for this video. I live in Argentina, where there are only three fashion options for women: dress like your 15 year old daughter, dress like your 90 year old grandmother, or dress like a bank employee. That's it. It's so hard finding stylish clothes when you're over 45 but these suggestions are great!
Your tips are for any age! That puff ball dress looks hideous on any body type at any age except maybe under three years old. Love your work, thank you, Marie-Anne.
Currently I own (and wear) a cropped faux fur jacket. It’s leopard print and so soft. It may make me look larger, but I feel great wearing it & I always get compliments. Although I agree with you, I’m making an exception with this jacket because it makes me happy and actually makes me feel more confident 😊 Enjoying your videos ❤
Ah Laura - there you have it - to all rules there are exceptions 😃 nothing is more beautiful than a confident woman and that happens when her inner and outer style align 🙏
Bonjour from VA!! 54 year old voluptuous woman here to say YES to everything that you are talking about. I figured out a long time ago everything you said not to do and I avoid them like the plague, lol. Horizontal stripes..over my large chest??? NOOOOOO! Ruffles??? Um no....I'm not 6, lol. Peplums, cropped tops, fitted bust area and anything that makes me look short and squat because I'm only 5'1", nooo. Merci, Marie-Anne, for these and other tips! I knew my choices were right but it's so lovely hearing them confirmed!!!
But we are superior 😅....😅..... I live in Paris, and find it so amusing to see poor American tourists wearing bérets ! No one wear bérets.....except in Emily in Paris !! Bon courage les filles !
Bonjour from Canada 🇨🇦 I am a plus size woman over 60 and you have helped me so much in choosing proper cuts for my body. Thank you for the great videos!
So glad I found this channel! Finding chic clothes when you're over 50 and plus size in Australia is a nightmare, everything is either frumpy or geared towards 20 year olds 😭
Excellent advice, Marie-Anne. Larger ladies don't need to hide under huge amounts of shapeless clothing since they look fabulous when they wear flattering garments that compliment their figure as featured in this video. Merci 💙
Hi, I have just found you and and loving the advise, I used to be very slim and at 62 my figure has changed so much, I at 1 time could wear almost anything but with a tummy and more weight I have got lost in what is best, This is so helpful, I am from Scotland and love your humour.
Bonjour Sandra and Welcome 🤗 you are not alone in experiencing such changes - luckily there is much we can do as women of a certain age to look and feel good and keep our confidence high 😃
The examples are all on plus size models but I feel this advice is also important for petites, because clothes that make us look wider also make us look shorter, and out of proportion. The Cookie Monster jacket made me laugh out loud!
I’m plus size with an hour glass figure. I’m 5 feet 2 inches and nothing fits well without alterations. The nape of the neck to waistline measurement is always two inches too long. Sleeves are also too long. Button front blouses always gape at the breastbone.
hey Marie-Anne I’m Areej from Saudi arabia i’m 48 years old i want to thank you because you Made me regain my self-confidence It also see and appreciate my beauty.❤
If you have a large bust, be sure that a button down shirt doesn't gap open between the buttons over the bust! Better to get the next size up so the top buttons smoothly and then have the rest of it tailored to fit.😉
With respect this is terrible advice. As a G cup lady one size up is never going to cut it. A modesty button is not going to work. Wrap style dresses in non stretch fabrics aren't going to work.
Two secrets of button down shirts: 1) Look at the online photos of the model in the shirt in whatever cut you’re getting (straight-sized or plus-sized). If the model has gaping at her bust in the shirt, you will, too. 2) Make sure the shoulders fit. If they do, it’s easier to take the it to a tailor and get it taken in. Finally-you can sew on a hook and eye yourself-and can get them in several colors (I got white hook & eyes for a fitted polo from Anthropologie and a long fit and flare-style dress from Target.
I went shopping yesterday at a brick and mortar store which I haven't done in so long. It was fun. I had my style journal with me which was a huge help. You were also whispering in my ear as I was looking at everything that was on sale. So glad you were with me. Merci
@@CALinial The first thing I did was take a look at what my style is. During COVID comfort was all the rage because no one was going anywhere. We were all sheltering at home. I decluttered my closet, getting rid of items that I hadn't worn for a while or didn't like or fit any longer. The I wrote an inventory of what was remaining; figuring out what I wanted to buy to fill in the gaps. I'm still filling in the gaps. I also write down what I am looking for so I don't get overwhelmed by all the clothing that is out there. When I make a purchase, I also write it in my journal. Again, more great information, but along with that, this video is one of your funniest! Marie-Anne, if you hadn't been a stylist, you could have been on the stage. I love your facial expression and your lively manner!. And your comedic sense - that cookie monster image! Your aghast expression superimposed on the pyramid is priceless.
Hi from New Zealand. I'd love to show this video to those tv stylists who think the only way to dress an older woman is to put her in a chunky sweater and throw a huge scarf on top. I've seen examples of that from all over the world & presume the stylists are young & think we need hiding.
Embracing who we are - for the size and shape we are but dressing flatteringly is the best way forward Lesley 🙏 we should not hide away - we are unique and the world needs to see it 😃
Good grief - that Cookie Monster top. I shake my head at some of the hideous designs that the fashion industry offers plus sized women - and petites too while I"m at it! As a petite who is also poorly served by the fashion industry I have immense empathy with plus-sized ladies. I may be paranoid but I wonder if it's carelessness or if designers actually *want* us to feel bad about ourselves so we'll keep buying, feeling crappy about how we look, and then buying something else. Funnily enough there are some styles that make even tall and slender fashion models look shorter and wider than they are. I always ask myself "if it makes the model look terrible, what hope do *I* have?"
Hello from Saskatoon, Canada! Je suis d'accord, Anne-Marie, that pyramid dress should never have seen the light of day. It reinforces the idea that some curvy women believe, that wearing clothing that looks like a tent is best for the larger bodies. To me, this has never sat well, because not only does it have the opposite of the desired effect, but should larger people should feel comfortable taking up space. Being bigger than the idealized shape does not lessen one's worth and one should dress to feel amazing in their own body. I also love your humour!
Love that you featured the Starry Sequin Lace Fit n Flare dress as an example of what to wear! I bought it in the blue this summer for a wedding and received so many compliments. I’m 67 and a little bit hippy and it looked gorgeous on me. 💙
Hi, I am from Little Rock Arkansas and have been watching you for sometime now. I am so glad to see the long skirts coming back in style. I have been wearing them since the 70s along with my flared jeans, but not the bellbottoms which I never liked. I like feminine tailored clothes. I think they look better. I’m 75. Cela faisait un peu de temps jusque j’ai regardé vos vidéos. Vous me manquez, et je suis heureuse de les regarder encore. Vous êtes très bien merci beaucoup- chapeau!
Thank you Marie-Anne! My mistake? Buying and wearing the large wide leg slacks! I saw a picture of myself in one pair and was dismayed that with my car coat, l looked like a huge square box!! The slacks weren't too awful when l wore a blazer in the same color, but still were not a good look. I have gone back to my medium width slacks, and l look much slimmer. I have also bought three striped blouses (I love stripes) and wear them often!😊❤
I loved this video as always. As a plus size over 60 woman, it's frustrating to find so many clothes in those tent like shapeless styles. I love stylish clothes so it can take quite a lot of time to find flattering clothes. Great tips for plus size of any age. I adore the colour of your shirt. I'm Irish and really enjoy your videos.
Bonjour Maria 😃 as I always say hold out for the Wow - never settle for 'that will do' and your style will love you for it. You are doing the right thing by taking your time 👏
I'm currently on the lookout for a nice stylish winter coat. I would like a wool coat in a good quality fabric. So much of what I've seen so far looks cheap and poor quality. I will be holding out until I get one with the "wow" factor. ❤ @MarieAnneLecoeur
Thank you for these helpful tips to look more slender. I appreciate all the effort that you put into your production, and I especially love the funny graphics, such as the Egyptian pyramid with her head in the middle. Ha. I will certainly look for flattering styles when I shop; it is too easy to be tempted by all the trendy styles that do not show me to my best advantage. Who needs to look like a puff ball, indeed?
Even if I am in my 30s, i agree with your No-nos. All of them did not flatter me and it took a lot of trial and error. And I agree with all of your Yes choices, but I go for square necklines instead of v-necks since I have a short neck and a circular face. Bravo! 🎉👏 Thank you for the video!
You are very welcome Ella - I label my videos as 50+ simply as that is my demographic - yet all of the style principles I show will work for ladies of any age interested in authentic French Chic 🤗
Everything you showed as slimming, is exactly my style. It’s a classic, ageless look. Reminds me of a London Fog commercial 😊 Just subscribed. Love this channel. Very helpful ❤
I'm so glad I'm a petite person. Sorry I've been busy with politics here in America! So I'm over watching all the news channels right now. But Marie Anne you always have wonderful advice!
Ah, my Sunday style fix! Merci! It was a revelation to me in your book to learn about optical illusions in dressing/ style. It takes courage to do it some days as I have terrible body dismorphia, but it always works! 🎉❤ merci again
Merci Gretchen - I hope that by following my advice you will begin to come arounf to the view that your body is uniqe and beautiful just the way you are made 🙏
I agree with Marie-Anne. There is nothing wrong with your body. The fault is with societal expectations and poor clothing designers. You’re lovely, I promise!
I bought the pink wrap shirt with the collar as soon as I saw it in this video last week. It’s lovely! Well constructed and very flattering. The deep pink works well with my olive skin tone. It wraps far enough around that I won’t have to use Hollywood Fashion Tape. Thank you!

I was SO happy to see flare-leg pants available this past couple of seasons. I haven't purchased pants for a couple of years since I could only find cropped/skinny styles.
Look for boot cut jeans in western riding brands. Made to go on the outside of western riding boots. Not too flared and fitted nicely around the hips and thighs.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur My daughter has a 36” inseam. That’s the only store that carries women’s jeans to 40” inseam for the tall ladies. They also have larger sizes for the curvy cowgirls in jeans that look good and feminine on a woman.
New to your channel. I appreciate that you use similarly sized ladies in your comparisons. Too often, the “wear this” options shown elsewhere use slimmer ladies.
Bonsoir Marie-Anne, I discovered your channel last week, seen a lot of your video's now. I really like your style and love the way you explain and give good tips and ideas to your viewers. Thank you! Barbara in Portugal.
You are looking as lovely as ever Marie-Anne 😊. Thank you for yet another wonderful video. My favourite is the black wrap top, always a winner. My favourite this last year has been the shirt maker style dress. I particularly like having a collar and being able to change the look with alternative belts. I have been listening to a book written in the 40’s referring to colourless women 😮. With all your wonderful advice we will certainly avoid being labeled as such. Thank you as always 🤗💖Sally S.🇳🇿

I'm 63 and take all your advice to heart. Love your blouse! Greetings from Tel Aviv
Merci Lori xx
We’ll, I have a fast metabolism and tend to be on the too thin side, so I’m looking forward to getting some tips on looking a little heavier, lol!!
I guess do what she says not to do.
@@tonyak2446Good comment!
Bon soir from Ljubljana!
I’m not plus-size but your advice goes for everyone. Merci pour une autre vidéo intéressante.
You are very welcome Lynn 😘
Watching from The Bahamas, great video, good advice! I'm short so I really needed some advice.
I have lots of videos for my lovely Petite ladies Joy - I hope you get a chance to watch them x
Merci bien! These tips opened my eyes to some fashion "don'ts." Much appreciated!
You are very welcome 😃
Thank you for these helpful tips to look more slender. I appreciate all the effort that you put into your production, and I especially love the funny graphics, such as the Egyptian pyramid with her head in the middle. Ha. I will certainly look for flattering styles when I shop; it is too easy to be tempted by all the trendy styles that do not show me to my best advantage. Who needs to look like a puff ball, indeed?
Merci Natalia - stick to what suits and flatters you and let the rest pass you by 😃
Hello from the Czech Republic and thanks for the perfect tips.
You are very welcome x
Great pointers Marie-Anne, watching from Auckland, New Zealand 😍
😃👋
I am from California. I enjoy your videos. It is hard to find fashions after 60. Your videos are very helpful. Thank you.
You are very welcome Joanne 🤗
I absolutely love this video! I’m a plus sized woman and these tips are very helpful. Thank you.
I am glad you found them useful Andrea 😘
I love horizontal stripes sooooooo much.
And that dress was so beautiful. The model looked great. The other does was much frumpier in my eyes.
Watching you from Bulgaria. I love your approach, your attitude and your humour!
Merci Elizabeth and welcome 😃
Even if I am in my 30s, i agree with your No-nos. All of them did not flatter me and it took a lot of trial and error. And I agree with all of your Yes choices, but I go for square necklines instead of v-necks since I have a short neck and a circular face. Bravo! 🎉👏 Thank you for the video!
You are very welcome Ella - I label my videos as 50+ simply as that is my demographic - yet all of the style principles I show will work for ladies of any age interested in authentic French Chic 🤗
Sharon in West Texas here, love your style, your tips, your humor❤and you have helped this over 50 gal so much!
That is wonderful to know Sharon - merci 😘
I'm a 60 year old American living in Mexico. I'm looking to upgrading my look and these suggestions will help me a lot. Thank you!
That is wonderful 😃 we lived in Merida, Yucatan for 2 years - wonderful country and people we so enjoyed our time there ❤️
Everything you showed as slimming, is exactly my style. It’s a classic, ageless look. Reminds me of a London Fog commercial 😊 Just subscribed. Love this channel. Very helpful ❤
Bonjour PJ, welcome and thank you so much for choosing to subscribe 🤗 😘
Hello, from Houston, Texas! I love your sense of humor! Thank you for this video, this is very helpful!
You are very welcome xx
I'm so glad I'm a petite person. Sorry I've been busy with politics here in America! So I'm over watching all the news channels right now. But Marie Anne you always have wonderful advice!
Bonjour Cristine - I have very many Petite videos for you on my channel 😃
Thank you!
That is wonderful Carol - merci for letting me know 🤗
You look absolutely stunning in that purple blouse
💜
Hi Marie-Anne! Great video, awesome examples!! Have a fabulous week!! xx
Merci Celia - you too 😘
Merci beaucoup Aria 🤗
@@MarieAnneLecoeur de rien Marie! ☺️💖
Whoever does your graphics is very talented!!! I love the analogies !!!
I will let him know Elena 😃
Oh, I love the purple …
💜
Oh I know. It’s a great colour.
Thank you for this video! I have a little in the tummy area, and not much waist. However, your tips are really useful and refreshing!!! Oh, I am watching from Panama!
You are very welcome 😘
I was SO happy to see flare-leg pants available this past couple of seasons. I haven't purchased pants for a couple of years since I could only find cropped/skinny styles.
It is so good to see them back Carol 😃
Look for boot cut jeans in western riding brands. Made to go on the outside of western riding boots. Not too flared and fitted nicely around the hips and thighs.
Excellent tip Star Cat 😃 I love my Western Riding Jeans - they are the very best and most flattering 🤠 it also helps that I ride Western Style 😘

My daughter has a 36” inseam. That’s the only store that carries women’s jeans to 40” inseam for the tall ladies. They also have larger sizes for the curvy cowgirls in jeans that look good and feminine on a woman.
From USA here. Love your videos and style tips! I had an empire waist dress with loose fabric that made me look 7 months pregnant. Not for me.
😘
Very nice video, thank you for sharing your fashion tips.
You are very welcome Lisa 😃
That is such a beautiful color on you!
Merci Evelyn 💜
I like your shirt 😍😍
Merci 🤗
OMG, I really enjoyed your video and learned many many valuable tips! Merci!
Glad you enjoyed it Lara 😘 What was the most valuable take away?
Love your advice & styles. Classy & in style. Sending love & hugs from Texas.
Merci Kay 🤗
I just wanted to say that that purple colour looks incredible on you. It makes the blouse look NOT prim and that shade is amazing.
Merci bien 🤗💜
Thank you for your advice. People in America definitely will be better off with your wise words.❤
That is very kind of you Robyn merci xx
Great advice Marie-Ann
in particular for plus size women ❤
You are very welcome Eygló😘
New to your channel. I appreciate that you use similarly sized ladies in your comparisons. Too often, the “wear this” options shown elsewhere use slimmer ladies.
Merci Mellie - I do try to use appropriate models but it is very difficult as not all sites use inclusive models 🙏
Great video! It should be shown at the entrance to a women's clothing store!))
😃👍
Marie Anne, I just adore your haircut!❤
Merci Lucja xx
Me, too, it’s sassy🙂
Bonsoir Marie-Anne, I discovered your channel last week, seen a lot of your video's now. I really like your style and love the way you explain and give good tips and ideas to your viewers. Thank you!
Barbara in Portugal.
Bonjour Barbara and welcome 🤗 merci for watching and I hope you will continue to do so 😘
Hi from sunny Southern California! I’m 45 and full bodied 12/14. Thank you for the content and comedy :)
You are very welcome!😘
Thank you for your practical advice
Your channel is important for older woman
❤
Merci Crystal 😘
You are looking as lovely as ever Marie-Anne 😊. Thank you for yet another wonderful video.
My favourite is the black wrap top, always a winner. My favourite this last year has been the shirt maker style dress. I particularly like having a collar and being able to change the look with alternative belts. I have been listening to a book written in the 40’s referring to colourless women 😮.
With all your wonderful advice we will certainly avoid being labeled as such. Thank you as always 🤗💖Sally S.🇳🇿
🤗😘
Looking good Marie Anne. Love the new do!
