Why is it better to look taller? I’m so sick of the negative comments about how petites should strive to appear taller! I’m 5’1 and I’m feminine and cute as heck!
Monochrome is very flattering for petite ladies. I have also noticed that for example adding a small scarf visually brings attention to the top of the body and also make it look taller. Not a big fan of baggy / wide pants, I think they make petite ladies look much shorter. Light brown/tan color shoes/sandals help with adding a few inches as well.
I’m so happy to meet you. I’m petite 5’2” in USA, and regular clothes here are always too long in arms and dress/skirt length. I’m always looking for clothes in petite size.
Dianna, I LOVE all your tips especially those for petite women. But I must say you even look good in those "mistakes" 🥰🥰 It would be great if you could do a video for petite women who are not so slim.....👍I'm 5 feet tall and not so slim 😉
I'm 157 cm tall, and I've never seen that as a disadvantage. However, why would I emphasize it or even fatten the look?! Great examples, Diana, how much more harmonious we can look. I really appreciate your presentations. With your help, I eliminated quite a few of my old fashion-programs/beliefs and in a few months completely changed my wardrobe. Thank you.
Excellent video - I believe videos like this - geared towards petite as well as plus size will draw followers, Diana. You look healthy and glowing in your golden hour light. Lovely. Sometimes I think viewers may not realize the level of expertise you share here! Keep true to you - it's so valued by those who appreciate minimalism and refined and subdued color palettes.
Love your tips!!! 5 ft tall! When I was younger and 100 pds, I really loved being the petite girl and just chose my fashion based on whatever I loved! I think these tips are universal for all people. Your outfits don’t make you look taller, but better!
i just found you and it's an instant subscribe. not only are your tips easy and actionable, but you actually have great style. (not everyone does who makes petite content!)
@2:06 Changing the big bag to a smaller one and flats to match your skin colour is a good idea. However, I feel the left where you wear a white belt makes you look taller.
I am 5' even and probably will turn into a dwarf by the time I hit old age. 😂 These tips are very helpful. Especially knowing I can wear ankle length pants! For years I heard "no short trousers!" for petites. It's nice to see if styled right they CAN be worn without making me appear short and stubby. Thank you❤
😊Great tips here for all heights. Cropped trousers that hit below my calf & above my ankle will be my new best friend. The problem w/even high rise full length trousers is that I MUST wear heels 👠 to lengthen my overall silhouette. Floppy or an ↔️ extra long pant that creates tiny folds at the feet (even when in a straighter leg silhouette) will shorten⬇️ everyone's frame & add unnecessary bulk😂. It will create unflattering horizontal lines↔️ at your feet that draw the eye👁👁 downwards⬇️. I'm 5'7", but I have a torso that is about the same length as my legs. It's 🚫 the ideal runway/print model📷 figure w/short torso & longer legs. 😖To make it even MORE challenging, I also have longer thighs & shorter calfs. That ⬇️lower knee configuration adds to my already slightly stockier appearance. These two proportions together make me look unbalanced. That's MORE exaggerated in either floor length trousers or skirts. That's why I must add heels to counter balance⚖️ my body design. 🤓The good news if your trouser leg is longer & wider OR if you're wearing a floor length skirt〰️you can wear a wedge, platform, or box heel IF the bottom completely conceals the chunky shoe. That way you'll get the comfort & needed lift w/o looking stumpy🪵 or top heavy. 🙂Yay👍. Although for health reasons, I must currently stick to flats at present🥺. ⏳️Lastly, I am an extreme hourglass w/exaggerated shaped limbs. No slim, sleek arms or straight legs for me😔. Instead I possess a considerably more shapely combo of muscles & fat. Never needed to weight lift to get any definition. These generous curves always made me look & feel fat ↔️ even when I am not😡. 🧐This makes me FANATICAL about doing EVERYTHING possible to lengthen & slim my verticality. Tonal or matching monochromatic color is my primary lengthening trick. Followed by nude, light tan, or metallic shoes. Unless I match hem, hosiery, & shoe or boot〰️it's 💯% a low vamp (under the ankle) shoe w/naked socks. However cute, ankle socks definitely stunts my height☹️. As Diana said, a hem that stops around the knee (slightly above/below or at), is NOT the best way for ANYONE to elongate our vertical line↕️. W/my particular leg proportions, flat shoes in that hem length is 😱SHOCKINGLY unflattering. Sadly, the only way to mitigate that is w/high heels. Culled all things that hit me just above or at mid-knee. Hems that hit just below my knees at least obscure that lower joint a bit. Can't go higher⬆️ than mid-thigh w/shorts or skirts. Otherwise, that will highlight the exaggerated taper of my thighs & hips😮. 🦸♀️Finally made peace w/my big bust & tiny waist, but my voluptuous lower half is my kryptonite🪨. Luckily, the only time I had a backside was when I was obese. Now, it's deflated again. God bless confident curvy girls like the Kardashians that can fend off the wolves🐺. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Yup! I am there! I just turned 71 and have gone (over the years) from 5’1” down to 4’8..😳. I have another 20+ years of mileage left on this body….at the rate I’m losing height, I’ll be about 3 ft. tall by the time I am 90! Shopping is going to present some serious challenges….one being reach the clothes on the rack….oh wait, that’s a problem now!!! 🤨
5ft 3 hourglass is slowly disappearring with the 'menobelly' growing 😢 Was always proud of my shape - wide shoulder / hourglass shape till last year.......please do vids for bellies. I look 4 months preggers
Personally, I'm about 5.2 and, to be honest, I don't find that any disadvantaging. All I need is to keep fit and choose the right clothes and accesssories. But everyone does no matter how tall they are. Lots of recognised beauties are petite and look gorgeous. What I mean is all these tips are really great, but they should be followed to look more harmonious and propotional, not to cammuflage your height. Thank you for the video ❤
I liked the side by side comparisons. I am 5ft 2in, petite/curvy. Midi/maxi dresses/skirts, although trendy now, are not my style anyway, prefer just above the knee lengths. As I am older, I wear more flats or kitten heels. I like your recommendation to not wear the heavier, black chunky sandal. Thank you.
Still, if you need to wear a jacket over it to keep away the chill she didn't address that. It would have been nice if she had also shown different appropriate jackets to wear over the dress.
Amazing video! I thought you were about 5’8” which is what you said we all could achieve 3” difference. I duplicated your red striped blouse with white denim skirt and received several compliments. I gave you the credit and referred them to your instagram.
Great video! So helpful! I love watching your videos. I'm 5'3" with an undefined waist, (but balanced shoulders and hips.). I'm enjoying SLOWLY redoing my wardrobe, and looking less frumpy. 😂
You mentioned high quality fabrics at Petite Studio but most pieces are either 100% polyester, or a high percentage of polyester. That doesn’t ring high quality.
It is one of the cheap Chinese companies that sells through a Chinese "designer" in New York. She was undoubtedly sponsored by them ..... This is one of the reason I hesitate to subscribe ..... The other is why would a 5' 5" woman understand the needs of a 5' and 98lbs lady?
Polyester is not necessarily synonymous with cheap. There are many different quality grades in poly. Even the most expensive designers use poly, but of the highest quality. It takes some skill to distinguish good from bad but if you feel the fabric and have some basic understanding what to look for you can tell.
@@Nickysmomagree! I was in the garment industry. Of course silk, linen and cashmere are always going to be superior but so delicate sometimes. I like rayon/ tencel ALOT
very true-most of the dedicated petite clothes are crap. and there are fewer and fewer choices as the years progress. decades ago I worked at a shop called "Petite Sophistictes" long gone.
Excellent advice! I'm 5'8" and on the slender side but proportional so I find all of these suggestions helpful. I just love your emphasis on accessories especially sunglasses and bags as part of the overall look. ☺️😊😍❤️🥰🌴🦩☀️
Petite *does not mean* short. Petite means small, delicate and/thin features. Petite gives alot more information than "short". Petite means short, with a small frame, and shorter limbs and a smaller bust (usually, not always, and that can makes things even harder buying clothes if you have larger breasts) than taller women.
I appreciated most the tip about not wearing at-the-knee skirts or dresses. I had been following the advice for years that it was flattering, but as a petite lady, I will take a second thought about it.
I try to encorporate these styles too, yes a wide fit pant for me is more of a loose fit with long length and I enjoy wearing a more fitted straight leg pant that is 7/8th length, I'm 4"11. Well fitting tops, especially around the shoulders suit me best, with very small details or patterns. I did like the dresses you wear Diana, while the top pleats are lovely and narrow I feel that would make me look top heavy, I avoid any type of rouching or cowl neck. I'm better suited to a sweetheart or vneck. It is so great to feel empowered with all of your tips and understand how they help me.
To my surprise I prefer the out fits with color matching shoes and purse which are contrasting color to the outfit. Love this video. Please do a fall and winter one!
It all depends on body s proportion. Petite women who are slim & have shorter torso thus longer legs can get away w various pants, skirt's length. This i can attest from my experience making clothes for women
All "do's" are so lovely, but I particularly love the crochet top look with the skirt. Lots of love n light to you, all the way from Suriname /South America...
I’m 5.6 and found your video inspiring. Loved all of the outfits especially the patterned assymteric skirt and top, the 7/8 trousers I have so now I can wear them. Subscribed
Very helpful! Thank you! Question: I just purchased a pair of coffee colored baggy trousers, thinking I'd pair them with a fitted ,cropped blazer,or slim fit cropped cardigan. Is this a no no? Baggy trousers completely out for a 70 yr old, 5'1" 110 lb woman? Anxious to hear. Everything you showed in your video was magic!
Thank you for the tips, this was great! I am 4'10 and all the outfits were a bit too dressy for me as I live in the mountains and a very casual lifestyle. But I will definitely be checking out the Petite Studio to see if they have anything for me.
Excellent tips!!! Thank you for your informative and inspiring video! I am a new subscriber who looks forward to watching all you videos. I expect to learn a lot!
This video goes straight to my favorites list! Also, I've suscribed. I watch a lot of your videos and I should have done it months ago! You have answered a lot of questions for me, including why the chunky necklaces that I inherited from my mother don't fit me (a shame, they're good) and why it's better for me to let the knee-length shorts trend. P.S. I'm 5'3 but I don't think of myself as petite. I'm pretty average in my country and sometimes I've been told that I look taller.

Diana, as always, you bring us the most useful content, and I urge your viewers to subscribe so that you can continue the awesome work ❤ love from Texas!
Wonderful, Diana. I'm 5'3"- the last thing I want to look is dumpy! These tips are great. Proportions are key and I'll be adding that extra hole to my handbags immediately. Question: Can petites wear palazzo pants? I (impulse) bought a navy pair on sale and I suspect they're a little overwhelming.
Most women don't know that the average height is 5"4"- (Bureau of statistics) Most think it's like 5'6" or more because that's what the media shoves at us. I LOVE being 5' even and just don't understand why people want to be/look tall
I think when people see people short and stumpy, they dont want to look like that. Alas, not be associated with that image. And when you find yourself short, there is a connection there so they want to be the opposite?
Hi I'm 5 " this was a very informative video and really like all the styles nice to see a more fresh look for pettie women instead of conservative look 😊
Beautiful things come in small packages. The men and women who are not very tall mostly have beautiful features and hands and feet. What makes us stand tall is confidence. Confidence comes with good, selfless deeds that we do for others. Others, who may be our own family, friends, colleagues and neighbours, plus those random strangers whom we may never see again.
Hi there, thanks for the great tips ! The white strappy sandals you're wearing are flats but the link shows a heeled version. Please could you share a link to the flats?
All your suggestions are very good, ... except I don't like the flat sandals. They are not flattering. I think some sandals with some kind heel (low or medium, or even wedge sandals could be nice) would be much better.
Equally as important is to know what colors look best on you. Not everyone can wear black. I'm a winter, I look good in black but, I'd rather be an autumn with red curls, I love those colors

Great production bravo merci beaucoup
Thank you for the video. Very helpful ! Where is the white bucket bag from ?
Brilliant tips--thank you!
Beautiful things come in small packages.
The men and women who are not very tall mostly have beautiful features and hands and feet.
What makes us stand tall is confidence. Confidence comes with good, selfless deeds that we do for others. Others, who may be our own family, friends, colleagues and neighbours, plus those random strangers whom we may never see again.
works so well for overweight women, too...
Thank you for masterful tips ❤❤❤
Hi there, thanks for the great tips ! The white strappy sandals you're wearing are flats but the link shows a heeled version. Please could you share a link to the flats?
New subscriber - because you gently reminded me to do so😉👍🏼
Thank you, Diana! Such a useful video❤❤👍
Brilliant video
Great tips! Am looking forward to studying your Free Style Portfolio! Thank you!
The bermudas were so unflattering, I always knew they didn’t suit me but now I realised just how *very* unflattering they are :O
The issue is most companies sell shorts as such, and they expect it to look good. My struggle is to find shorts that aren’t as wide. 😩!
All your suggestions are very good, ... except I don't like the flat sandals. They are not flattering. I think some sandals with some kind heel (low or medium, or even wedge sandals could be nice) would be much better.
Lovely ! I was not always petite 😮😢 but am 70 now and have lost 2 inches……. Very nice ❤❤❤
First time here. I liked and I subscribed plus, I commented and plan to watch you more often. Thanks Merci Bonne journée
Equally as important is to know what colors look best on you. Not everyone can wear black. I'm a winter, I look good in black but, I'd rather be an autumn with red curls, I love those colors
Fabulous tips. I learned so much. Thank you 🙏🏻
Love it. Very interesting and helpful. Thank you!
