Dark mode all day every day everywhere. Light mode in a VR headset makes no sense: the whole point of light mode is so visibility in bright environments and outdoors is better, but obviously with a VR headset that isn't really an issue. So light mode is just a preference(?), in which case light mode users are psychos.
Use dark mode every chance I get. I remember when the oculus app updates to the meta horizon. When I opened the app it was by default it was light mode. I was like it aw god it burns. Where’s the light switch!
It protects your eyes and I'm pretty sure it also saves battery and energy...so yeah. You must be crazy not to use dark mode on everything that supports it.
That was an amazing VR update, Steve. I can remember VR when I was using my Playstation VR 1 in 2017. I think I started watching your videos before the Meta Quest 1. Isn't amazing Steve, how far VR has come in a fairly short period of time. I can't wait to install update 71. Till next week Steve good day! 😊
That was a good video, loads of info and entertaining. I always laugh when I hear the good day! If for some reason an app or device is not using dark mode, I feel that something is wrong! It must be corrected, immediately, without delay😅
Maybe I am confusing Night Vision ?... is that what is meant by a dark theme ?. I do not use that but i have the brightness at Zero. I find that way no glare and better for the battery.
Maybe just when the trains change elevation? Because I know when I used it on a plane, whenever it climbed or descended my elevation in game would go ALL janky. Lol.
It would be neat to be able to use the Q3 or Q3S on an airplane. When looking out the window at the ground, it would show the names of landmarks and what not like MS Flight Simulator.
i use light mode as I sit in a really bright room (giant windows next to me with sun), I have a 1000nitt monitor (800nit full screen white). and I run it at 100%
An update I would like is the ability to to adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation, tint, and sharpness just like my TV using 0-100 sliders. I want to be able to push and pull the image to look how I want it. I find the images rather dull and I want to try to match it to my TV settings as best I can. If I want to be able to play my games in black and white, or to make everything look really cartoony then I can.
is it possible to connect the quest pro controllers to the 3s? I've tried but it for some reason doesn't allow me to. I've unpaired the controllers it came with and re-paired them and they connect no problem but for some reason i can't do that with the pro controllers. unsure if it needs an update or im just doing something wrong lol.
A cautionary tale for current and prospective Meta Quest VR headset owners: I'm on day 27 of Meta holding my Quest headsets hostage. I've been using Oculus/Quest devices from the day they started making them (10 years ago?), and I have not been required to give my date of birth to Meta in all this time. But they recently demanded my DOB under threat of disabling my Quests, and they made good on that threat 27 days ago. Meta can metaphorically brick your headsets, any time they want, and for any reason they want, and you will have no defense against it. Conclusion: Think carefully before you BUY anything from Meta; The thing you BUY will not be yours.
Update v65 made my pro controllers to randomly disconnect on my quest 3,each update didnt fix it untill i recently did a factory reset.anyone that still has issues do a reset, wish i did it sooner
That performance boost is nonsense, since the Quest 3 is constantly on the verge of overheating, which will probably prevent that boost in 99% of the cases to even kick in 😐
@SteveKnows Q3, the glare was quite prelevent, as i was expecting a clear sharp glare and god ray free hmd with the Q3, but only the first 2 were true........and after i posted this i did a little bit of googling and yes, a lot are people are complaining about the glare on their Q3......so it is not just me.
The Quest's light mode is awfully ugly, so I don't use it. I typically use dark mode for most things on flat screens, but I've started to use light mode more and more, especially during the day. The brightness of an image changes how much your pupils dilate. When you look at a bright image, your pupils contract. When you're pupils are contracted, you can more easily focus your eyes and things look more sharp. People often believe that dark mode is less taxing on the eyes when reading, but it can often be *more* taxing. I can read something on a screen way longer in light mode or sepia reading mode than I can in dark mode. My eyes start to feel strained and "fuzzy" after too much focused reading in dark mode. Just casually browsing or doing work in creative programs or even coding, I still use dark mode. Coding seems weird because I'd think it'd be like reading, but I think the color-coding of script functions reads better on dark backgrounds, because when I'm using a simple text editor without color-coded syntax, like gedit or mousepad, to quickly edit something, I use a light sepia color scheme, because it is easier on my eyes than dark mode.
They skipped over 70. They needed to have everyone on the same version for when the quest 3s came out. Has to do with horizon worlds and the avatars if I remember correctly
@@SteVen-v6u4k yeah the big long number is your current software version. Mine says 71.0.0.444.529.658015081. That's is the current software version of my headset. Whatever yours says is what version it is.
im a dev as well and i definitely use dark mode on all the things. I stare at a screen a lot so it helps
I’m with you, back in college they had us using eclipse to learn Java, as soon as I discovered a dark theme- I never went back 😂
I switched over to IntelliJ the first chance I got!

Embrace the light mode, love the light mode

😂
👀
Thanks Steve, you are the best!
i actually think you are =]
Been watching since I got my quest 1, just got the quest 3s and excited to get back into it
thanks so much :) OG brother!
Welcome back. I have all 3 so far lol. Think I started collecting them at this point 😂
This is definitely a good year for vr.

Dark mode is the best! Great updates thanks Steve.
Gota change mine back to dark mode. Lol my eyes be on fire

Should be easy enough if it could grab gps information from your phone.
Awesome vid man!
Great video! I'm not sure anyone would know Spacehog without Guitar Hero.

What game is that 5:29 ?
That's Batman: Arkham Shadows
i use Dark Mode on everything. I can read text better.
Dark mode should be default
I didn't even know until today that there was a light mode! Not that I would even want to use it...

They're not supported by the quest 3s
Quest Games Optimizer makes Arkham Shadow have PCVR quality graphics. It's worth the hassle of setting it up.
I have the latest V71 update and cant see any of this in my Quest VR 3
So, planes and now trains? Wonder how much longer we'll have to wait for cruise ships...
Comparing the pass-through update to putting shoes on the right feet lol
did it work though? lol analogies should be different
@SteveKnows It worked, definitely a better and smoother experience when shoes are on the right foot lol
Dark Grey Mode
ANy idea when 71 drops? Seems to have been in PTC for awhile now.
Dark mode on everything that offers the option.
Love ur vids

If google play games is coming to VR make it a table touching experience. And also give us fallout shelter.

V71 update? I don't even have 70 yet!
same im on the good ol' 69
There is no 70 they’re skipping it
Same lol
I have v71 and don’t have this new interface
@@mobat4163 Same here
Anyone who wants to use light mode should just use it and turn down the brightness
Dark mode 4 lyfe
Dark mode vs light mode, why can't they give us a neutral mode... oh, that had been seen as customization and that is something Meta want users to do.
Why is no one talking about thd glare issies in the Q3............i was shocked as to how bad it is.
Q3 or 3S Q3 and got no issues

There is a bit but it's way better than quest 2
there is 71 update planned and my headset is still in 69 saying that there is no new updates... wtf?
They skipped 70 apparently

How are people watching high enough quality movies that 7:1 matters?
Noo Steve that app is lowkey😢
We're talking about 71 when 70 hasn't even come out yet?

And Google is said yonbe working eith Nintendo on their XR Headset and Platform loool google seems like they are really busy lool
New interface is a rip off of the Vision Pros
P.diddy
got me giddy
Throws great parties 🎉
Anyone know how u can find out what version you actually have currently???
Settings>general>software updates
@codyholbrooks4875 I know, but it doesn't tell you what version! Just a long number
