    *This is a safe haven for gamers who value game mechanics and systems, because that’s what makes anything from 8-bit to 8k, equally enjoyable.*
    *Thanks for taking out some time to watch my stuff! I appreciate that!* - Alex
    REALLY enjoying my time with The Outer Worlds! I like how there are almost zero superfluous elements in the game, which makes it feel very tightly crafted and well focus tested. It’s also just plain fun to kill stuff and explore, which just so happen to be some of my favorite things to do in RPGS!

      How do you tag an enemy / place multiple hits before firing while in TTD... as in, how do you tag Multiple hits before firing? I see you doing this a few times in this video. I can’t figure out how to tag / place Multiple hits. I can only fire one shot at a time while in TTD. Thank you! -looking a bit more closely, I don’t think you can do this... (such as red eye from red dead redemption)... the tag noise I heard was actually an enemy shooting while in TTD. Any advice here would be helpful!

    Here is a Tipp i discovered accidently:
    Just use SAM and another Companion of your choice. go for the Companion Skills and perks and let them do all the work... i play on Hard and i nearly never need to fire a single bullet and still the enemies go down in seconds. specially SAM is a beast in the fights. He is super tanky and has high damage. And the best thing is, that you dont need to equip him with the best and highest Weapons and Armor because he is coming with his own set of cleaning tools :P

    • @kevinhammond2361
      @kevinhammond2361 3 года назад +1

      agree- using SAM with Nyoka on Monarch is great vs raptidons and (assuming Nyoka gets a corrosive weapon) mantisaurs

  • @Ashtarte3D
    @Ashtarte3D 4 года назад +17

    Additional tip: SAM is arguably the most broken companion in the game. You never need to equip him as he scales with levels and does exclusively Corrosive damage which has no weakness.
    Also if you're going to do a melee build N-Ray damage is super powerful for you specifically because it gives you a handy way to deal area damage when you go HAM on packs of enemies. But N-Ray will also be the bane of your existence since melee builds rely heavily on having the highest armor possible.

    having science affect even elemental damage mods on regular weapons (not just science weapons and plasma rifles), and having it at 100% be the only way to level some weapons to 35 by the end of the game really makes it a must-get stat. almost to the point of limiting build diversity.

  • @TheCaptn
    @TheCaptn 4 года назад +2

    Companions in Supernova difficulty are paper-thin bullet magnets that will constantly yolo into packs of enemies and get themselves killed unless you babysit them; which, since you can't revive them until the perk at Level 22, means you'll be save scumming A LOT... Or going Lone Wolf.

    • @O-D-X
      @O-D-X 4 года назад +2

      The key there is to change their AI to far and passive. This keeps them from rushing in and dying until you can get the perks to make them gods or just keep them that way and make yourself the tanky god.

    • @TheCaptn
      @TheCaptn 4 года назад +4

      @@O-D-X I think it's better to just send them back to the ship and lone wolf it once you leave town. Setting them to Passive like that just turns the game into an endless escort quest, which isn't my idea of a good time. :)

    I just finished my first playthrough of a near 40 hour campaign.
    My build was initially split between all of the speech and long/short guns, with a lot of random crap sprinkled in.
    then I respec’d into Persuasion, Handguns, and TTD.
    It felt a lot better once I figured out what I wanted to focus on.
    I also respec’d Victor Max into being a melee tank, Pavarti into just helping me with repairs, and Ellie into ranged support.
    I want to try a solo gun slinger next play through.

    I have a tip for you that might be useful.
    Sprinting cancels reload so if you do that at the moment your ammo counter goes up you can increase your DPS with any ranged weapon.
    Sprinting ALSO cancels the animation for weapon swings and blocking... so if you find a good timing for it you can swing much faster than you would be able to normally, or you can do it at the end of your light combo to restart the combo immediately.
    P.S. Might not work without upgrading Dex at the beginning.

But I would much rather they started working on The Outer Worlds 2. As long as they don't do what the Fallout games did and get worse and worse. I wish I could magnify it to increase the size cuz I sit 8 feet from my tv and I cant read it!! There is a ton of space left on screen so y'know please add that feature to increase scale of Ui please. Everything else is great and I love the detail and rewarding exploration. Also the rpg elements are just right! The world is gorgeous and unique and man it looks pc quality on my base ps4! I am not a fan of Fallout games so I felt this would either be a big hit or a big miss for me and im happy to say it's a big hit for sure. Oh and I absolutely love the subtle humors. Another useful tip: Pick up EVERYTHING. Even if you know 110% that you won't need that bottle of sugar bs or your 11th bag of cystic pig chips, pick it up. Open you inventory and mark the item as junk via "Z" key. There are literally vendors EVERYWHERE. Sell them on a regular basis (holding "Z" key pressed) and money will never be an issue. Actual playthrough: Level 31 and ~70k in the bank although I invested in tinkering.
    And switch to level 2, respectively level 3 weapons asap, the level on these items is far higher than their level 1 counterparts making tinkering far cheaper.

    For those interested, here's a bit more info on damage types and flaws based on my experience: Most flaws aren't worth getting - not because of their debuffs, but rather because a large chunk of the perks aren't really worth the debuffs. However, the drug and food addiction flaws can be taken with very little interruption to your normal gameplay. If you have a companion-based build, flaws that increase the damage you take are fine too. I'd avoid taking any flaws associated with enemies though, especially the robots one. I'd also not recommend taking the heights/fall damage flaw as it requires very little to trigger it.
    As for damage types, assuming the codex is correct, corrosion and shock are the best types overall. That's because they carry no weaknesses and are boosted by the science skill. While corrosion only sees a flat 25% boost to damage, it's more effective against the most-resistant enemies. Although you will see higher numbers with shock damage. Hope that helps!

    Hey, I recently heard about you from a different video in which IGN copied you. I just searched ‘Outerworlds damage types’ and serendipitously found your video. I just wanted to let you know that your explanations of the damage types by giving examples are great. I have nonverbal learning disability, which makes retaining verbal information really hard, since most things will go in one ear and out the other (things like directions while driving for example). You manage to deal with it and it starts to phase out once you reach adulthood, so I don’t think I’d have too much trouble remembering the damage types. But for your younger audience, some of them might have the same disability, and the way that you described things like ‘bleep bloop blue’ is exactly the type of thing that would help somebody that struggles with information retention.
    Great guide. :~}

      It only seems that way because none of this really matters. You can go in guns blazing almost all of the time and still come out victorious.

      @@TheOldMan-75 what difficulty you on? Most of the game has been a breeze, but their were a few enemies/areas that gaveme trouble and i had to retry, or use different tactics

    • @TheOldMan-75
      @TheOldMan-75 4 года назад +2

      @@nonameguy96 I was playing on hard throughout the game. Didn't bother with supernova because I'm not a fan of survival mechanics and limited saving ability. Sure, I got killed every now and then but that was usually when I was running around with low level guns because I hadn't changed it for a while and was barely able to damage a bigger enemy (usually those mantiqueen thingies or whatever they are called). I finished the game with almost 300 of those healing items left because those are EVERYWHERE and I hardly ever used them. It's really not "hard" as the difficulty settings suggests.

    Since you will have enough damage on your character real fast, the best damage types in my opinion are ballistic/ plasma (with ballistic being the more general against everything but plsma being more buffable [helm and science skill] type) and corrosive. You dont really have to use the other types since up to date gear and decent stats (like lvl 60 is enough) lets you murder everything.

      Ryan Sansaricq agreed, loving it too. I do wish there were more compounds/effects to put in it and more reliable ways to get them (something approaching an alchemy system). But really happy with it even as-is.

    This is a really informative video, thanks for making it. You mentioned the downside of physical against armour and n-ray against inorganic, and I've heard that plasma is weak against mantisaurs. If we use physical as a baseline, do shock and corrosive have weaknesses or is it just the case that they'll be less effective against certain enemies than the correct damage type, eg plasma will be better against flesh, shock better against robots?

  • @captainclone1367
    @captainclone1367 4 года назад +2

    Obsidian needs to patch the game to allow the player to see what armor is on what companion! This would help greatly when upgrading and modding gear!
