Thanks Taria, great advice .Love your work, your energy and enthusiasm for USk. You have helped me to go back to an Art I used to do when I was 18. I am now 76 and have taken out my sketch books again and am having great fun. Keep up the great work, Cheers, Muffy from Oz (Australia)
Good strategies/tips. I will have difficulty selecting which one to apply first, and then I'll have difficulty not being frustrated that it doesn't work for me....immediately. That's always my challenge. So, thank you for offering me tools to help me get past them.
Gosh. So much food for thought. I especially love the negative space approach as I love the aesthetics. Being conscious of the focal point under a time constraint, then leaving things up to the viewer to imagine and fill in the blanks is magical. Am saving and will definitely be watching this video again 👍💚😁
#1 is my primary way of ‘speed sketching’ when I do not have enough time to do a complete work. If, once finished with the ink sketch, I find I still have a little time I will use water color pencils to put in a quick bit of color. If the grass has a certain color I will try to copy that color as best I can with the pencils. If buildings are painted in abnormal, or unusual, colors I will try to give my mind a hint as to the colors by using a blend of water color pencils. When I get home the water color pencil marks will dissolve as I apply paint from my pallet. I really like your videos and your art. I try to stay caught up on everything you post. Please keep at it. Thanks for everything.
Some years ago I came across some articles written by someone who made scale models of castles which would be put on display. Instead of representing all of the blocks of stone used to make up the walls, which would have taken a lot of time, he just added some to represent the stones. It let the viewer see that the walls were made of stone and the viewer filled in the blanks so to speak. This from what I see, is what Liz Watkins is doing. I have been exploring ideas for quick sketching so this is all very useful. I have recently bought Phin Dead's book so it is good that you recommended it. Now I know I'm on the right track.
I loved this video! Thank you so much for sharing! If I am pressed for time, I like to lay down big shapes of color with copic ciao markers. It's easiest to do if you choose just a few colors like a blue, green, grey and some earth tone...depends on what your main subject matter is obviously. I always use a fineliner as well but 4 markers, a fineliner and a sketchbook is a pretty simple kit!
Very worthwhile topic. I definitely need practice in choosing what to include -- I always get bogged down in detail, whether that was my intention or not.
I just found your channel this morning and love this video - so much information and I love that you reference so many different styles and artists. Thank you for sharing this. I'm away to Yorkshire next week so look forward to just sketching what's in front of me as I sit in the coffee shop x
I love your videos. Thank you for creating and sharing this content. I am still struggling with making time (and the confidence to just do it) so this video hits the mark for me.
Hi Mo - I have a video here about loose urban sketchers as a starting point...maybe you know some of them already though: ruclips.net/video/OOw9CMkUmSM/видео.html and then this video about Spanish sketchers, quite a few of them are loose: ruclips.net/video/PSwVyRm29SM/видео.html
@@tarias_sketchy_adventures thank you for your kind response! Will check it out! I did see both of the videos before tho. And they were very entertaining!
