Liz Steel's book on Architecture in the 5 Minute Sketching series is one of my favorites. I use each topic as a sketching assignment. I look forward to checking out the other books in this video.
Thanks Teoh. This certainly answers my question on the book(s) you most recommend to become a better urban sketcher. I will watch all the individual videos you did on each book as well to try and narrow it down.
Thank you so much! There are just _so_ many drawing books 😵💫 It's nice to have things narrowed down by someone whose style and opinion I like and respect 🤩
Just finished Urban Watercolor Sketching per this recommendation. Excellent book. Loved it. Also have all of The Urban Sketching Handbook series, one of which includes one of your fabulous sketches. A must have series for all artists! Thanks Teoh!!
Whoa, thanks for the video. A very good recommendations list and you explained very well what kind of content the book has, what it helps with, and who/how to get the most out of the books. I like that it was almost in a beginning to advanced order and didn't just just feel like a random list of books you like.
I feel blessed that I found your channel a year ago and eventually got interested in drawing--enough for me to take Architecture in college ^^ Thank you for being an inspiration!
I just ordered Keys to Drawing & Drawing Perspective using your Book Depository links. Looking forward to this. (Thanks for offering links to something that isn't Amazon.)
Thank you for this vid:) Urban Watercolour Sketching sounds like it's right up my alley so I'll be definitely be getting that. And I so agree about Keys To Drawing. That book is great. Although I haven't done all the exercises from that book, it truly did help improve my drawing:)
Love this selection. By the way, just got the Frank Webb watercolor book you featured in one of your videos and it is both wonderful and useful! Thank you so much ^_^
Edit: Part 1 video is ruclips.net/video/Ss6Zs0vAzMs/видео.html I made a mistake with the schedule of this video. I'll post the mentioned Part 1 video tomorrow. Sunday
I love the Uban Sketching Handbook Series. I was so sad to find out that "Reportage and Documentary Drawing" is out of print and no longer availiable. It's the only one of the series I don't have.
I have the book and I'm a beginner. I know it looks a bit intimidating, but it's meant for beginners. It's packed with information and, like Teoh said, heavily focuses on exercises. If you follow it sequentially, which I think is what Dodson recommends, you'll be building up your drawing skills, so it won't seem advanced and complex. Hope that helps. :)
Teoh Yi Chie Has any publisher ever approached you to publish series of your own sketches? I would buy them immediately. You are a VERY talented artist.
All the book previews I look at seem very basic. I know the basics of drawing and colour mixing. I want something more intermediate, about colour relationships, composition, mark making but can't find anything that doesn't start with 'This is a pen'
Can you recommend a basic "How To" basic sketching book that doesn't spend most of the time showing you how to draw people and animals? I have less than zero interest in learning to draw people and animals. Thanks
Maybe books by Scott Roberston www.parkablogs.com/category/tags/scott-robertson And check out these too www.parkablogs.com/content/book-review-beginners-guide-sketching-robots-vehicles-sci-fi-concepts www.parkablogs.com/node/1921
When it comes to drawing peoples skill levels vary. You never mention who specific books are aimed at - beginner, intermediate or advanced and I find this is a problem with your 'reviews' which are not much more than showing people what books are available in the marketplace. I've bought a couple of your recommendations (sight unseen) and they have been a disappointment as they are basically of little help when it comes to aiding people in developing their drawing skills.
Thank you so much for sharing this! What a great way to see the work from other amazing Artists and learning their techniques! Can't wait to get my copy of some of those 🧡
NEVER a bad video. I always love your reviews. One of my favorite places to visit on RUclips!
Thank you Teoh. I love how you explain the content of the books. Thank you
Dear Theo, please bring out your own book, it will be a best seller!!! I love your drawings ✨
Truu
That Felix Scheinberger book -- gorgeous!

I love your recommendation videos!!!! I always try to watch your reviews prior to buying my art books 📚 so helpful
Thanks Teoh. This certainly answers my question on the book(s) you most recommend to become a better urban sketcher. I will watch all the individual videos you did on each book as well to try and narrow it down.

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll definitely check these out and pick up one or two books to start with.
Thanks for your recommendation! Love the way you walk through these books!!!
Have been watching your videos for a long time. I really like the way you present.
Thanks for sharing this video. It was very useful and informative :)
Dodson is a brilliant book. It's like he reads the mind of his reader and answers their questions in the next paragraph.
You really give the best of the best to your followers! Got 4 of these fabulous books! Thanks for the video!
Thanks 😁
I too like the Scheinberger book. Thanks for this video :)

Thank you for this vid:) Urban Watercolour Sketching sounds like it's right up my alley so I'll be definitely be getting that. And I so agree about Keys To Drawing. That book is great. Although I haven't done all the exercises from that book, it truly did help improve my drawing:)

Another excellent video!
Thank you so much! Your video is very helpful!
Great list of books, Teoh! Currently on the wait list for a few of the books from my library. Can't wait to see Part 1 of this video tomorrow... :)

Teoh Yi Chie what is the part 1 video called? Don’t see a link and can’t find it
I made a mistake with the schedule of this video. I'll post the mentioned Part 1 video tomorrow. Sunday.
The future is now.
Had no knowledge of drawing - that would be me. Thanks for the recommendation.
Thank you so much Teoh. You are so helpful..
Oooh, yes, Felix Scheinbergers Books are pure inspiration and motivation to me!
I own „drainting „ and „dare to sketch“, really recommend btw!
Bissmark I love how Felix says there is no quick fix to learning watercolour, I have his urban watercolour book
Watercolour Art in Cape Town and hes so right! I quess i will buy this book of him about urban sketching as well:))) Absolutely worth the money!
Bissmark Teoh did a book review on it I think, and Felix has a course on sketchbook skool. I love his style
Thanks for sharing!

What would we do without you Teoh ? Thanks for helping us ☺
Great vid, thank you!
I love the Uban Sketching Handbook Series. I was so sad to find out that "Reportage and Documentary Drawing" is out of print and no longer availiable. It's the only one of the series I don't have.
Awesome thanks
Thank you for this! My Amazon wish list thanks you too :-)
Thank you!
I will be poor, but happy!
Thanks for recommendations
Any suggestions for sketching books
Keys to Drawing by Bert Dodson
very helpful!
“Keys to Drawing” looks extremely advanced and complex to recommend it to a newbie to drawing!
Two pages in and you’ll discover you can draw, that’s how advanced that book is
Rainbow Gryphon Thanks that’s good to know but it looks like Da Vinci’s drawings at least from this video. LOL.
Teoh Yi Chie Has any publisher ever approached you to publish series of your own sketches? I would buy them immediately. You are a VERY talented artist.
Thanks Bro
Thanks
These are all excellent sources, but I would really love to buy YOUR book on sketching. Do you have one in the works? If not, why not?
I don’t. It’s very tedious to put out a book. 🤣
All the book previews I look at seem very basic. I know the basics of drawing and colour mixing. I want something more intermediate, about colour relationships, composition, mark making but can't find anything that doesn't start with 'This is a pen'
Check out ‘Color Choices’ and ‘Making Color Sing’ www.parkablogs.com/tags/colour-mixing
I want one of those but it isn't available in Ph 😔
Check bookdepository
Can you recommend a basic "How To" basic sketching book that doesn't spend most of the time showing you how to draw people and animals? I have less than zero interest in learning to draw people and animals. Thanks
Get the first book I mentioned, Keys to Drawing. It’s not about drawing people, animals. It’s about drawing.
Hey Teoh can you tell me what book that would be good for me as my interest are vehicles/aircraft etc?Thank you!!!
Maybe books by Scott Roberston
www.parkablogs.com/category/tags/scott-robertson
And check out these too

Hi, is any of these books also translated into Italian?
😍😍😍
wow
