Thanks Taria, another great tutorial. This will be my project for this morning on a very cold 3 degree morning in Melbourne. Looking forward to getting started. Also wanted to add that I use salt a lot as a texture, especially for walls and roads.
thank you for this great post. Am really enjoying your channel. (btw I was thinking that I liked it as it was before the masking fluid was lifted too - a good experiment). I stole the white crayola crayon from my grandkids, you can get some nice textures in the resist that way, and don't have to remove it.
I always enjoy your experiments, Taria 😁 I've been playing with masking fluid as I've acquired some freebie W&N m/fluid with some orders. I've noticed it works best on 100% cotton papers. Arches takes all the abuse, lol. Watching this I was wondering if a wax resist would have achieved the result you were after on the wall texture. I've been loving Neocolor II water-soluable crayons lately, and bought a Neocolor I white non-water-soluble to try. That one white essentially acts like a wax candle but not so messy and easier to draw with. Then again I suppose little skinny birthday candle would do the same at much cheaper price . I suppose I mean blocking in with a light violet or blended mix of Neocolor 1 crayons which could also be scratched off carefully at the edges to reveal the white paper for any highlights or edges. Just something that came to mind as I watched. Anywho, these experiments are fun and you always manage to salvage when things don't go as expected. Like you always advocate, I'm also trying to think out of the box with experiments and troubleshoot more to find happy accidents. As always ❤👍👍👍
It's always a joy to watch your videos, even your pen and pecil roller-case looks gorgeous. The technique with the super granulated paints you started demonstrating 3:51 was interesting, and it was even more interesting that You use it rarely, despite you love the effect it produces. Possibly, You use it rarely since you basically belong to the Steven Reddy "school", which has only simple solutions avoiding grandioso, super/hyper artistic tricks. I don't know for sure, just guessing. I have your adventures PDF book, and I love it tremendously.
Have you ever played with granulation medium? I just got some yesterday and its so fun! I thought It sucked at first but I was doing it wrong lol. It seems to work best when the paint is only diluted with the granulation medium.
Gum rubber erasers have worked to remove some masking fluids from my experience. They are generally inexpensive and mine is pretty flat for easy packing.

Do you see the eagle-like bird on the right of the window after the mask has been rubbed off?
I’ve got the exact same pencil wrap. I love it. It looks like a toolkit!
This is an excellent video. I'm off to experiment with the masking fluid right now. Thanks so much.

Love this! I have a bunch of old door pictures I took in Brussels years ago. This is inpiring me to get them out and get them sketched! 😍
Your painting looks amazing! This vid is so helpful now that I am loving watercolor again 😃
I love all the Derwent cases. I have them all😜! Great techniques.

Something I've considered after watching a few using it. Thanks for the tip there, Kathy. I've added it to my wishlist 😁
I honestly didn't know there is such a thing. I will look for this. Thank you.

I really love your sketch, thank you for sharing 😍 ps. that window may be in Verona, Italy 🇮🇹
I was going to say Venice 😄. I don’t think it’s in Morocco; the sign in the bottom left is in Latin alphabets.
Sorry for the autocorrect on your name Taria!
