      @@tylerjameshunter I wouldn't say going catless is bad. Catless without EWGs though can cause bad overboosting issues. A lot of tuners won't tune catless cars without EWG because of this issue. However My last wrx had a catless downpipe and stock catback and was tuned and never had overboosting issues so its not a guaranteed problem but is common.

    New sub. Liked your mild mannerism. Not over selling or overly geeking out. I like that. Just honest and to the point. I picked up a brand new wrx last week (2021) and I’m interested in modding it. Suggestions?

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  3 года назад

      Buying new do a break on period make sure you don't hold a constant rpm for to long, try to keep the rpms moving (ex. No cruise control) or switch gears from time to time if highway driving. After 1k miles change your oil and filter with a full synthetic and you should be good to go. After 1k I started modding and never looked back, the stock tune is fun at low rpm and low speeds but it's awful mid and high range. So I would recommend getting an Accesport and stockpiling a few parts for a protune. Stay away from the ots maps if possible

      Have a friend with a FBO (E85) FP Blue FA20. He was making 460ish WHP on a stock unopened motor. Motor lasted 18k miles and recently decided to snap a rod in half and crack the block. Just be prepared if you decide to do that. The tuner told him that he sees a lot of rear differentials explode at that power level too. However thing was pretty damn fast and fun. Pretty sure it’s coming back bigger and badder.

    I just want a 10-15% bump in hp/tq. It's a street car and I'd rather focus on handling and driving dynamics/manners. If I can't add power, I'll look at removing weight (w/o going to extreme). But any route is a losing proposition no matter how you look at it.

    For any significant power increase ur gonna want a clutch. By at least 300 wheel

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 года назад

      I feel like that really depends on how you plan on driving the car. I have a lot of friends making just shy or just over 300whp all on stock clutches with anywhere between 20k-70k miles. My last wrx the stock clutch survived 73k miles Making 362whp and lots of launches and abuse. Eventually doing 3 passes at the drag strip one day fried it and I replaced it with an ACT. My current wrx is at 15,000 miles and 14,000 of those were at almost 400whp. It still feels super solid but I haven't been constantly launching it or anything either. I think kf you plan on tracking the car or have high mileage I would do the clutch before adding more power. But besides that i feel like it's a case by case situation.

    Is the catted down pipe required or suggested? Trying to figure out the least expensive way to get close to your hp number! I kinda like how quiet the car is from factory just want some more power without doing bolt on mods. Flex fuel seems like the way to go.

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  3 года назад +1

      Accesport, flex kit and fuel pump will give an otherwise stock wrx about +100whp. So definitely if it's available in your area it's 100% the most effective mod. But on your downpipe question, my tuner won't even tune people with catless anymore because of overboosting issues but a lot of tuners say these cars don't overboost with catless. On my 2015 wrx I was tuned by the same person and he tuned me catless at the time and said he was suprised that I wasn't overboosting, but like I said there's probably 3-5 other tuners I know of that say these cars don't overboost on catless so I'm not 100% sure.

      @nabaddame5726 3 года назад

      @@StreetInspired1 I would be more than happy with 100 whp over stock for around $1000 if buying some used parts on the forum. Definitely would get the fuel pump new but my car has around 14k miles so definitely sounds like 100whp more than stock would help stretch the life of the stock clutch a little more. The EGR delete and the tgv deletes are cheap so I'd probably throw those in. I have e85 available here in Florida but the confusing part for me is if I don't have access to it while road tripping if I have to load another map to run 91 or 93 or if the Cobb flex fuel kit will automatically adjust to compensate that it's not flex fuel? My paranoia is forgetting to switch maps and detonate my motor 😂

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  3 года назад +1

      @@nabaddame5726 For sure! If you E-tune, usually once a tuner sends you a base map you can drive safely on it as long as you aren't getting into boost and with the flex turns the tuner will fully tune the car on 91-93 first and then ask you to put e85 in it to get it to e60-65 and repeat the process. After that you can run anything and the flex sensor will automatically alter the map to your ethanol content. But if you run out of fuel mid tuning process and refill as long as you keep the Ethan content within 3-5% of what you were at on the last log you should be fine!
