On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. Well in the real world there really isn’t likely to be very much in the way of “1v1” as fighters will fly in elements or squadrons unless some emergency causes them to separate
As someone still figuring out cockpit stuff, the arrows indicating what to look at for which info is incredibly helpful. Love these videos!
The vipers radar is pretty bugged right now and seems to just be blind for minutes sometimes, where it should 100% see the approaching target

Hey GS might I make a suggestion? Instead of the occasional tac-view debrief, is there anyway we could get a sort of in-flight “directors commentary” debrief with you? I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now and can say I’m pretty well versed with the terminology but I still struggle to keep up with your situational awareness inside the cockpit. Such as how you’re able to tell when a bandit has gone hot vs cold? Essentially I’m suggesting a video breakdown, inside the cockpit, during your fight, where you explain what your looking at and what it tells you.

Really impressive hunting and SA on display!! Having only recently bought trackIR am still getting used to scan the sky along with rwr/radar. Working up to getting the F16 also but just cant move past the good ol' SUs/J11 having started on LockOn.

The F-16 is a beautiful aircraft and still is today (first saw it back in the early 80's), at the time I was like WOW, I want to fly that thing.
It would be amazing if DCS could do the F-16 XL (delta wing,Supercruise, 25+ stores hardpoints, high A0A (70+ degree?) etc etc.
But it was just too expensive so the Eagle won out.
Still, one can dream.
With regard to the Viper "Doing Work", I just LOVE how efficiency never goes out of style. John Boyd's obsession with energy retention under high G loading just wrecks everything else - well - except for the Raptor. And as far as that goes, all the great work Hillaker did on the F-16XL lives on in the Raptor. There's a NASA .PDF out there on the web of 400+ pages regarding all the great aerodynamic science learned from the XL that went straight into the Raptor.

Whether you are on the ground at an airshow, or seeing video of the -16 doing what it does, it is like a KNIFE in the sky.
Ill be honest I'm thinking about going down the fighter pilot route IRL, but I never realized exactly how much you have to know, and how much thought you have to give, to strategically take out your enemy's, this was fascinating!

I took out a couple f14s in a dogfight arena with my a10. That was fun!
You should watch the video with the F-16 gunning an OV-10 Bronco. It was near a populated area so it had to be a low to high attack profile. Nearly stalled the Viper doing it!

I've been following your work since the beginning. I noticed you switched your focus away from BVR. I don't mind watching dogfights, but I really miss this content with tactical analysis and explanation.
I know you said (almost a year ago?) that fox3 missiles need some tuning, so you won't be doing those kinds of missions, but I think Amraams are pretty decent now. Or give yourself a challenge: use Sparrows. 😀
I hope you can show (again) some love to BVR stuff.

How do you hard lock an ammram on red icons on the radar? It never does that even when u hit TMS up?
Red icons are datalink contacts; *your* radar can't see them, so it can't lock them up. you can only lock them up once you see a solid brick, indicating a contact by *your* radar.

You can download it for free and try out the frogfoot, dow load standalone, not vai steam so you can have a 2 week trial for EVERY module you can buy. Modules are expencive though, expect to pay 60-80 bucks for a full fidelity plane.
And make sure to Download open beta
You need a joystick (anything for the beginning) and some head tracking device is highly recommended (trackir does its job fine). Than the two basic aircrafts are f16 if you enjoy killing planes, and f18 is the best for air to ground strikes (yeah, A10 is sllightly better attack plane but f18 is not defenceless aganist fighters). You can also try f15c, as a low fidelity plane its easier to learn but its functions are extremely limited, so you`ll get bored with it easily. And don`t start with tomcat, it`s a beautiful and really pleasant plane to fly but it is hard to fly and pretty much outclassed by all the others 4th gen
