On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

the F15 can pick up targets the size of the F16 at like 80 miles. which currently is about 2 times the range of the F16

@@HereticsRight Russian radar is decent looking up, the moment ground clutter is a factor though, Russian radar is one of the worst.
Fun fact: the EX on the end of the F-15EX stands for EXtra missiles

the AMRAAM bus idea was supposed to be for the B-1 Lancer to fire something like a hundred or so amraams from the internal bay off of something like a rotary launch system. guess it was cheaper to use multiple f15s since the f15 is getting a life extension and the B1 is most likely getting retired.
I think it is Foolish to retire the B-1Bs . I have had plenty of debates on RUclips with real USAF and engineers about retiring the B-52s and keep the B-1Bs in play. They have won the debate on keeping the B-52H re-engine ( B-52I it mite be ) in play but i still feel we need to keep the B-1Bs in play as well for this same FOX 3 " Missile Truck " concept.
There was also an idea to turn the Boeing 747 into a cruise missile bus a while back to carry a ton of ALCMs, it didn't exactly happen but the engineer who thought about it (probably while sitting on a toilet) had blast entertaining the idea! Also about bombers carrying air to air missiles, I think I read somewhere (forgot where, and their words not mine) that one of the upcoming B-21 Raider's features will include air-to-air capability, so we might still get air-to-air missiles on bombers!

They should convert the 20 or so B-2 bombers to stealth AWACS after the B-21s go main line implementation. theirs a lot of AWACS killing FOX 3 missiles in the current air battle field. it could go " cold " or quiet IE turn off RADAR and data link transmissions to hide from a FOX 3 missile fired at it.

@@Elthenar Yes, the "cheap day fighter" became one hell of a multirole dogfighter. And it works hella good at it. Compared to a number of other designs it's still kind of cheap.
The F-16 and F-15 is good in spite of the fighter Mafia not because of them. And they overplay their involvement as well.
I'm only around 80 hours into DCS and haven't even considered PVP dogfighting yet...but man I love how comprehensible your breakdowns are.

The B-1R was the "missile truck" they were considering. A B-1 with 4x F-22 engines.
It'd be fun to see a BVR fight but each pilot with AWACS and B-1Rs just lobbing AMRAAMs at like fukken mach 2 lol

This videos shows a concept that it's also applied in chess: "you must know if you opponent is an amateur or an professional to respond accordingly" because from a professional PoV an illogical play from the amateur will make the pro rethink 50 times because it will look like a trap. Same could be said about this fight, the F-15 preemptively defended regardless of any missile alert, the "trick" would be the F-16 hold fire in the engagement and let the F-15 Believe that it was out of ammo
i really like the little video window when you drop tanks, could even be used to show missle launches or what the opponent is doing.

The EX is more than a missile truck. Advanced radar, increased acceleration, greater weapons payload, and enhanced maneuverability are all part of the package.
F-15EX has improved high AoA.
EX is less maneuverable than a C model Eagle due to the increased weight and higher wing loading

F-15E-1 has higher sustain G due to engine upgrades. The original F-15E is inferior to F-15C. F-15E-1 is superior when compared to F-15E.
F-15EX has high AoA improvements e.g. into 40 degrees range.

@@valenrn8657 According to the Fighter Pilot Podcast, the Eagle driver clearly said that the Charlie models are better than Echo models in maneuverability, regardless of the upgraded PW-229 engines or not

You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting.
Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements.
I’m really interested what a f35 would do at BVR, i have heard that that’s the point were it shines.
I wonder what is the RCS of F-35 with full external AA load compared to the Viper.
The usaf has experimented with the C-130 armed with missiles and yes it can in theory be armed with the amraam missile, along with other options.
The C-130 has space for missiles near the outer wing on a specialy modified rail.

2:20 one I know of is Rapid Dragon, it's for cruise missiles though. Also there was the B-2X concept, that has a B-2 loaded to the max with AMRAAMs :edit:(I am reminded that was B-1 not B-2)
Cruise missiles for now but everything will available for Rapid Dragon in time.
It was actually the B-1R not B2. It could carry like 60 AMRAAMs

Why do you generally not pitch up before shooting 120s? In our community we've seen significantly increased lethality by matching the loft angle the missile will take. This lets the missile spend most of its acceleration in the correct direction upon launch. The longer the shot, the greater the loft angle. But there are drawbacks - for example you spend some airspeed by pitching up.
I’m not sure if you take suggestions but it would be cool to see a simulation of F-22s vs F-35s (1v1, 1v3, 2v6, etc)

What’s kind of funny is that the EX can carry more you guys have it with 12 but the EX can use the other two wing stations so it could hold up to 20 don’t know if they’d do it. Honestly I’d truly insane how many missiles the 15EX can hold.
They only hold 16. The outer pylons can hold the 4 missile pylons

Actually it can cause there’s an adapter that attaches to the BRU rack one is similar to a BRU-61 and the other is a bit different both adapters can hold 2 AIM-120s allowing it to carry more that a normal F-15.

I am going to pick up on your early vid commentary about the F15EX and F35 combination (claimed 'spotter / sniper') - this would be entertaining scenario to explore on how that could play off with different and increasing numbers of 4th gen combatants (maybe team up with LS). With this many new viewers, it seems like you could pretty much start your entire "catalog" completely over, including your old tutorials. I'd like to see an updated version of your FA 18 radar tutorial. I STILL recommend that one to anyone that asks for help on it since it's the best one, even though it's 3 years old

@@yapod9061 they still pull very hard, you can see in some of his older videos he used the SD-10 and AIM-120 as dogfight missiles to good effect.
@@yapod9061 they accelerate slower, but they turn just about as well when up to speed
I imagine the only thing they really would lack is the high-off-boresight capability of the 9X's, ASRAAMs, etc.

You're damn right they put missiles on the C130, albeit air to ground ones. The J models are the Baskin Robbins of ground attack. Any flavor of whoop ass you want.

To be fair I'd back the Eagle II in BVR against the Viper every time. It's very, very capable when you look at the spec.

@@mobius7089 it depend, it all depend on their respective RCS and Radar range. F-16 block 60 have ApG-80 with very good radar range. While its radar range isn't as good as F-15EX, its RCS is much smaller. So things balance out

Donno about using a C130 as a missile truck, but what I DO know one concept purposed was the B1-R
Take a B1 bomber, upgrade its engines with 4 prat and whitney F119s (that's the same engine that the F22 and F35 uses) and give it back a mach 2+ top speed
Give it an AESA radar, data link, etc. And pack it to the gills with AMRAAMs. Like dozens and dozens of them.
And then have it orbit around a battle space and sling thunderbolts at whatever the F35s think needs to die.
F-15 Eagle is a beast in the sky.

I still lol when I hear that the EX is "just a missile truck" ya.. just a truck.. that's also has a kill ratio of 104 to 0 and is still one of the most deadly aircraft in the sky bar none.
Slight correction, it has the pedigree of the most lethal fighter in history ;) also, everything its older brother can do...apparently, the EX can do better with better controls, avionics, RADAR, etc.
Well F-15Ex is way too modern in avionics. For BVR, the old viper doesn't stand a chance against it in reality. If DCS had the block-60 F-16 with full bells and whistles, that would've been interesting
Wouldn't have made a difference, the SABR radar of the new Viper's just barely has the range of the old Hornet's radar (APG-73)...

Hi GS, I’ve heard you talked about the downwards spiral dogfight shouldn’t out of burner, could you explain about it?
Because cut the throttle/out of burner/put the brake at downward maneuver to make opponent overshoot make more sense to me.
I guess keep the burner on makes the aircraft having energy to lift the nose up faster than the slower enemy?

I believe the B-1R was a missile truck concept.
I've been finding that when I know I have superior firepower and no real reason to be economical with my amraams, I like to throw two or three of them over the course of a minute to keep the opponent from having the chance to get good launch parameters against me. If they stay defensive and you need to gain superiority over an area it's a decent way to do it. Especially when flying against R-24 equipped enemies. They can't keep nose on long enough and suddenly your MAR and theirs become rather different, especially with some well timed chaff and agile flying.
The us government giving thought to packing a c150 with ammraans is a guarantee

Hey GS love the videos!! I know how much you love a good fight and i wanted to recommend a free mission to you. You have the option of the F-14, F-16, or F-18 and your mission is a bomber intercept thats being esocrted by 6 J-11s and potentially 2 more SU-33. The mission is called Chinese Bomber Intercept. I've done it at least 10 times and even added a wingman and still unsuccessful lol
It almost sounds that you're saying that as long as nobody enters the MAR, it's a lot like neighbors yelling at each other from across the street. Nobody's going to get hurt, but everybody feels better about themselves. lol 😃
