You're far too young to have seen it at the time but during the early days of GW1, there was a live news report on UK TV from a reporter in Kuwait standing on an apartment balcony one evening just as the sun was going down & a cruise missile came down the street at tree-top level behind him. mid broadcast. Remember, this was in the days before the internet & 24 rolling news so we were all amazed by it.

Pretty stressful battle. I might not be the only one wondering how well an F22 would do here? Certainly the S300's and Flankers radar lock the F16's from a long way off, thus the missile bombardment that happens. Might be a different battlefield with 1-2 F22's amongst it, being harder to see both radar and eyeball wise....

I think they were even cleared to fire on civilian aircraft if they deemed necessary. Just goes to show the shock that came with the attacks.

I do wanna ask though, in a scenario like this, or perhaps any modern day air to air scenario, which of you do you think had the better plane? Cause the F-16C is a fantastic and capable thing, even in such situations, but it seems Iranians utilitiezed their Flankers better than even the Russian pilots. Do you think it came down to tactics and pilot skill, or simply being outgunned by the enemy equipment?
