    This is an EXCELLENT resource for anyone who wants to know what red light therapy is and the potential results. While it’s unfortunate that it hasn’t improved your rosacea outbreaks, the other unexpected benefits you listed are wonderful. I never would have guessed that it would be a mood booster, but it makes perfect sense that it does. And the fact that it has improved the skin’s bounce and elasticity is always a welcome benefit.
    I admire the level of detail and the amount of work that went into this video. The b-roll footage of you wearing the mask was hilarious and fantastic. Now I know what to invest in when I want my neighbours to leave me alone. 😉
    It will be interesting to hear how you feel about the device in a couple of months from now. I have to admit that I’ve always given skincare devices the side-eye, but I do see a difference in your skin! It appears more even in tone and has a certain brightness to it. Your skin was already so lovely, but the after picture really showed the benefit of the mask. Are you enjoying having a simplified skincare routine as well?
    From one skincare fanatic to another, the most important thing about the crazy potions and devices that we put on our faces is that they make us feel good about ourselves, so I’m very glad that that’s been your experience! Excellent video once again, Stephanie! And I’m so happy to see that you’re almost at 1000 subscribers. 💕

      It was interesting to start from scratch again, since I always felt like it helped, but had never documented it before. I'm glad there is a change in my skin, otherwise I'd feel pretty silly. 😉
      As a fellow creator, you know all the unseen effort that goes into videos like this. So your compliment is taken to heart.
      I will definitely keep documenting the progress to see if the effect continues to grow. Having a more streamlined skincare is nice in some ways, but I do find that I am missing certain steps. I have been tempted to introduce acids back into my life to reduce my battle with sebaceous filaments. But now that I want to show the results of this mask after three months, I think it would probably be best to wait. For science. 😉
      Your final point, that the ritual of skincare is to ultimately make us feel good about ourselves, is well taken. The ritual of setting a bit of time aside for ourselves can be so calming and meditative. With the state of the world currently, I am trying to take those moments to heart and enjoy them to the fullest.
      Thank you for your support and thoughtfulness, Brittany! I always look forward to our "conversations".

  • @zachbecvar

    Thanks for the general explanation. I had seen these things and chroma therapy lights for saunas and showers before and they definitely gave me the whiff of psuedoscientific nonsense because none of the things I saw ever really explained what it's supposed to do. It also makes me think of the heated eye compress my optometrist recommended that I still haven't tried yet.
    In the before and after footage, I did notice a difference in your skin. It looks smoother and there is a subtle tonal difference that I can't quite describe, but i see it.
    Yay for unintended benefits. Especially for scaring the neighbors. The mood improvement sounds similar to the light boxes I've heard people use in winter to deal with seasonal depression.
    I'm no scientist, but from things I learned in the military, red lights are used at night because the wavelength means the light does travel as far and transitioning back and forth between the red light environment to see and darkness doesn't require the eye to adjust as much as going from dark to bright white light. There's not as much of a shock to the rods and cones in the eye or to the optic nerve.
    The wavelength chart you used reminds me of all the times I had to study it in my military training and when I was able to explain the nitty gritty of the zoomie end of the spectrum that starts at gamma rays and continues on from there.
    Overall, I found this really informative. The gym I go to has a recovery room and one of their new toys is mask similar to this that the info sheet says is light therapy. After watching this I feel more comfortable trying it out.

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler  10 месяцев назад +1

      I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed a difference in my skin. Sometimes it’s hard to know if it’s just wishful thinking. Especially when the differences are so subtle.
      I used to be in a star-gazing club and we would always put red gels over our flashlights so that our eyes wouldn’t have to adjust much when we were out in the field.
      I’m glad you found this informative. It’s always hard to find a balance between keeping things interesting and sharing information. You’ll have to let me know if you try the red light treatment at your gym.
      It’s always lovely to hear from

      @@TheStyleStumbler The humor you inserted makes the video fun. you always do a good job of being informative and keeping things interesting.
      I will let you know if I try the one at my gym. It has a hard plastic piece on it so it gives me vibes of The Mask that Jim Carrey dealt with. But as long as i don't go all green and cartoony, it should be fine. 🤣🤣

      @@zachbecvar haha! I haven't read about anyone turning green and cartoony in the studies, so I assume you'll be fine. But if that turns out to be a side-effect of The Gym Mask, you'll DEFINITELY have to report back. 🤣

    • @zachbecvar
      @zachbecvar 10 месяцев назад

      @TheStyleStumbler so I tried out the mask at my gym. I can report that I am safe from being turned into cartoony green face. With the three-way strap that goes over the top of the head, it felt like I was wearing and old school hockey goalie mask.
      The red light and infrared felt good, ever so slightly warm. The kind of weird thing was that it had a massage feature with pads around the eyes and at different spots on the head. Around the eyes felt nice and actually relieved the mild headache I had.
      I'd definitely use it again.

    Did you ever do the ultrasound video?

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Karen! Not yet. To see the difference each device makes, I can only add one in at a time. And when people voted on which device to try first, the mask got first place, the nanocurrent device second place, and the ultrasound device came in third. So I will finish testing this mask, then move onto nanocurrent for 30 days, then test the ultrasound device. I estimate that the ultrasound video will probably go online in February or March.

    how much does wattage matter

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler  10 месяцев назад

      What a great question! According to my research, wattage is a bit broader of a topic. There are rated Watts, actually consumed Watts, radiant Watts, and milliWatts per centimeter squared. That last one indicates the intensity or irradiance of the light. So I think the mW/cm2 would probably be the best spec to look at.

  • @CaroleLittle
    @CaroleLittle 3 месяца назад

    This light care therapy is BS

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler  3 месяца назад

      Some of it definitely is. If the frequency and intensity levels aren't dialed in, it won't have any effect. But light therapy has been around for a long time and there are enough peer reviewed studies to suggest that, when done correctly, red light therapy is not hogwash. But one thing is for sure: It is not necessary. We can be perfectly healthy without going out and buying one of these things.
