    • @JoshuaYoung2
      @JoshuaYoung2 9 месяцев назад +103

      This isn't a 100% solution -> Light Wavelength: Red light therapy panels use LEDs that emit specific red and near-infrared (NIR) light wavelengths, typically around 660nm and 850nm, which are believed to be therapeutic. Halogen lamps emit a broad spectrum of light, including some red light, but not at the concentrated and beneficial wavelengths needed for red light therapy.
      Light Efficiency: Halogen lamps waste a lot of energy generating heat and light across the spectrum. Red light therapy panels use LEDs which are much more efficient at producing the specific red and NIR wavelengths for treatment.
      Safety: Halogen lamps can get very hot, potentially burning skin. They may also emit some ultraviolet (UV) light, which can damage skin cells. Red light therapy panels are designed for safe use on skin.

    The photos of your face are not identically illuminated. In the "old" image you can see two tiny reflected spots over the pupil in each eye. In the "wow, it's shiny," the reflected illumination image is clearly much, much bigger/brighter. I'd be far more impressed with two images using identical lighting.

      His before photo even looks better. But, I need something like this 4x bigger or more. Put in in the wall. $100-$200. They should be able to do this with cheap plastic OLED printing. But potentially poisonous material. The ones they use in phones with very high efficiency, have different reject formulations that give different frequencies. Rejected due to not enough life span. At $100-$200, it would not matter.

      They always do this. How difficult would it be to take photos in the same room but no; here's me in London and here's me in Hawaii 😎
      Also the way he talks about the numbers of LED matters; LED have a long lifespan with a proper power supply. You're only going to use this thing for 5 minutes a day. A regular light bulb from IKEA lasts years being on for 16 hours a day.
      If anything this thing powering 1800 LED's without a good power supply would cause it to last shorter. And the whole thing about uniformity...I don't know, it's a flexible panel that you move around, I think 300 LED's for your face alone is enough unless each LED only covers a very tiny area like 5mm.
      I think this is paid promotion but presented in a sneaky non-sponsored way.

  • @MitoRedLight

    Hi - this video is very well done. One correction we would make - it is is not necessarily true that the more LEDs there are the longer they will last. LED chip efficiency depends on a large number of factors including: the class of compound semiconductor used to make the LED, the structure (doping, thickness, composition) of the semiconductor layers in the LED chip, electrode/contact design, light extraction structures added or created during fabrication of the LED chip, operating temperature and the current density. Current density is the amount of current per unit area of the LED chip. Of these factors, the most significant is the class of compound semiconductor used to make the LED chip.
    Furthermore, LEDs in panels like ours use focusing lenses (also increases efficiency) and are typically driven much lower than their maximum (25%-50%) - minimizing heat creation to help ensure longevity. The bottom line is that there are several variables involved in the LED package and panel design, which will determine efficiency and longevity.
    If you've enjoyed the benefits to your skin, we'd suggest trying a more full body setup! All the best - Team Mito

      Look up 'Alex Fergus' on RUclips. He does massive break downs and reviews on different price options for red light panels, which he further subdivided by regions (to avoid having to pay import tax etc).
      And if you want more information on red light therapy for anti inflammation/pain reduction, Google Rhonda Patrick Red light therapy. She has a big blog page where she consolidated all the information by use cases and lists the studies that back up her information.

    Interesting
    $1800 device to provide convenient at home treatments taking only 5 to 10 minutes multiple times per week (makes it easy to reliably do treatment)
    Vs
    Clinics charge $25 to $150 per session, not counting travel time to/from clinic and wait time at clinic. (More likely to skip treatments when you get busy.)
    Plus can share device with spouse or family member.
    LED’s should last years.
    But there are much lower cost units that still work. It would be interesting to test the wavelength and power output to see if manufacturer specs on the cheap units are close enough to provide benefit.

    Let’s be real-making time for red light therapy every single day isn’t the easiest thing to do. But, in the name of science (and my persistent headache), I decided to give it a try using the FF 1000 from Future Form Official. And, as much as I hate to admit it, it worked!
    After suffering from a stubborn headache for three long years, just a few weeks of consistent use actually made it vanish. I originally started using red light therapy to boost my brain health and cognitive function, applying it for 20 minutes a day to my face, neck, and chest.
    While I'm still not thrilled about committing to it daily, I can’t argue with the results. My skin is glowing, my head feels clearer, and I’m starting to believe this routine might be worth the effort.

If you get the right one it's great. But you can't use it every day, because then it won't work. I use a little handheld 650 nM. Every 3 days is perfect. Length of time to use depends on strength of device. I genuinely keep it on the area of pain for 15 minutes. I have a separate device for what you are talking about here.

Or are these single red lamps just good for heat ? The company or brand of kind i have is Feit. and no where did i find specific info ...so i emailed them and even asked if their lamp wavelength is 660 to 800 and something...and no answer yet. Excellent information. Lots of things you can do:
    I'd like to see you continue this series by trying the other wavelengths that increase cognitive performance, and muscular performance. Also, can you try/recommend a cap for hair loss?
    Maybe you can do interviews with the researchers who came up with these studies? Since you're a doctor you can probably get access to them, and ask relevant questions.
    Also, what about just going outside? If you are worried about UV, go outside in a shaded area? Like read a book in a gazebo? Won't you be exposed to the same red light? After all, white light comprises all the colors.
    I'd wonder how this compares to just doing some cardiovascular/working out in a lighted environment? Cardio would have lots of the same benefits and more like lowering cholesterol, improving memory and neurogenesis Anyways, keep up the good work.

    Why not just get a heat lamp? A usual 250 W heat lamp emits some red light, but mainly infra-red. The only disadvantage seems to me that it uses a lot more energy than a IR LEDs . 1 Joules per second (J/s) is equivalent to 1 Watt. So a 250 W heat lamp delivers up to 250 J/s of energy mainly in the infrared. They are somewhat focused in one predominant directions.
    Assume the entire energy is radiated in 1/4 of the area of a sphere surrounding the light bulb. Assume you stay at a distance of 2 meters (R = 200 cm) from the lamp. Then the area of that partial sphere is (1/4) of the area of the sphere. Area of a sphere, given the radius R is A = 4 x Pi x r^2.
    Now take an exposure for 1 hour = 3600 seconds:
    Using R = 200 cm, part = 1/4, power = 250 W = 250 J/s; time=3600 s; The total energy delivered per cm^2 is:
    E = power * time / (part * 4 * Pi * R^2) = 7.1620 J/cm^2. If R = 1 meter, it's 4 times that, about 28 J/cm^2.
    So you need only 12 minutes at a distance of 1 meter to get the 5 J/cm^2:
    R = 100; power=250; time=12*60; part=1/4; power*time/(part*R^2*4*pi*R^2) = 5.7296 J/cm^2

I have fortunately dodged any signs of skin cancer and have now been far more responsible over the last decades. I recall feeling like the sun was very therapeutic. I now presume that it was the penetrating IR that indeed had a therapeutic effect. QUESTION: Rather than "investing" in yet another bit of technology, as an aspirational luddite and minimalist, might I just get back to responsible sunbathing (using sunscreen and avoiding midday)? I.e., would a good UV block sufficiently permit the therapeutic end of the spectrum?

    These lights are mass produced for years for party light sold in bulk at most Chinese stores. To charge $1800 is a scam. Heck to charge above $100 is a big ask. The reason theres a sudden price rise seems to be FDA clearance which is nothing but saying that the device is harmless vs FDA approval which is more stringent and says yes this works for the intended use.

      Hi Lee Jacobs. Could you kindly share if you've experienced any improvements after the therapy?

    Can you review the Irestore helmet for hair loss? Can you breakdown red light therapy for hair loss.

      If a red light Mfr claims it works for hair loss, the 3 lettered agencies may shut them down. I use a $99 tendlite, 3 times a day for 2 minutes each and YES IT DOES WORK FOR HAIR GROWTH. I have been doing this for 3 years and it is hard to believe but it doesn't happen overnight. When I first started, I really didn't think it would work so I only did on one spot on my head. After about a year, I said, holy crap, this actually works and I had to start doing the middle of my head and my back bald spot. So now I am at a total of 6 minutes a day per in 3 locations for a total of 18 minutes. There is 100% chance this is true and works, at least for my 66 year old head.

    Is this helpful for chronic disease-- Autoimmune conditions, gut dysbiosis (with systemic yeast) and malabsorption? How about for pain? Connective tissue disorders-- Lupus/Scleroderma and or Ehlers Danlos. If so, which wavelength?

      There is research that supports it's use in hashimotos thyroiditis which is an autoimmune condition

    Thank you so much! I've been looking into trying red light therapy at my local tanning salon, but even other doctors didn't give this much detail! I feel so equipped now lol
