My theory for her wearing the purple dress at the ball was a symbology of their development and how each character was going to do at the end of the movie. Giselle became more modern, Robert becomes her prince, Nancy has clothing fit for the situation that they also fit Edward, who is going to stay in his kingdom. Nancy and Edward have a warm color palette, while Giselle and Robert have cold colors.

The easter eggs in this movie should have their own Wikipedia page 😂 You were right about hearing Part of Your World when Giselle was looking in the fish tank but the reference doesn’t stop there! Robert’s assistant Sam is played by Jodi Benson, who is the voice of Ariel 🌊
And the woman in the soap opera is the voice of Belle, so that’s why the Beauty and The Beast music was playing!

Obviously the reason why Giselle wore a modern dress at the end was because it symbolized her changing by living in the real world, but they could have chosen a better dress for sure

I love the part whenever she felt sadness or anger, and I love the scene where he sings to her. Oh and when Nancy got what she deserves.. a man that would cherish her 🥹

This gets even better when you remember she WAS the stepmother in Camille's Cinderella
The telenovela has a bunch of references in one:
The female soap star “Angela” (so named for Angela Lansbury, who voiced Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast) is played by Paige O’Hara, the voice of Belle. “Angela” is arguing with a man named “Jerry” (Jerry Orbach voiced Lumiere) because she’s having an affair with a man named “Ogden” (David Ogden Stiers voiced Cogsworth). This soap opera scene is scored with music from Beauty and the Beast.
It’s nice that you noticed references to The Little Mermaid in that scene in Robert’s office because the actress that played the lady he worked with is Jodi Benson Ariel’s voice actress

Tangled was still in development when this movie aired, so the Rapunzel play you see in That's How You Know is a nod to that. And the little girl is the director's daughter, I believe.

I would recommend watching the ModernGurlz video ‘in defence of giselle’s purple dress in enchanted’ because it really changes the perspective on the dress and it’s really interesting! But I love this movie sooo much and your reaction! 😊💕

Yep, you guessed it, the reporters name is a reference too:
Her name is Mary Ilene Caselotti, which is a reference to Mary Costa (the voice of Aurora), Ilene Woods (the voice of Cinderella) and Adriana Caselotti (the voice of Snow White).
The caramel apple drizzle is meant to look like the skull design on the poison apple from snow white.
I have no shame in saying this is one of my favorite films of all time and it remains a constant on my letterbox top 4
The evil queen transforming herself into a dragon at the end is probably a reference to Sleeping Beauty too :3

Love this movie! It’s 100% such a underrated movie. People should be talking about this more. Also the line where the evil queen said “to a place where there are no happily ever after.” It gives me Once Upon a Time tv series vibs with the curse on the town and all.

That's How You know is meant to be a mix of Kiss the Girl and Under the Sea. There's even a boat scene reference.
Tons of Easter eggs in this movie. The secretary where Robert works was the actress who did the voice of Ariel. So The Little Mermaid fit. When cartoon Giselle is putting the dream statue together, when she holds up the blue gems for the eyes is an Easter egg from Snow White. Soap opera people were in Disney movies too. Giselle did see Robert and the ballroom scene in her dream. She saw that Robert was her true love.

I think the dress that she wears at the end was symbolically showing how much she's changed to be a part of the real world rather than the fairytale world. Where-as Nancy was wearing a a fancy fairytale outfit, which is why each of them fit more with their opposite counterpart.

References, Little mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Cinderella and sleeping beauty, there may even be others but those are the main ones, also fun fact the aerial and Bell voice actors are in this film, that's why the little songs played whenever they showed up, if you go back and rewatch it will make sense, also yes her true love is Robert because if you go back to the beginning of the film it is supposed to be the same outfit I'm pretty sure it's kinda like hinting to us that her true love is in the real world and kind of showing that you can find your person anywhere and they may not be who you first expected, Giselle expects it to be Edward because it makes sense, but then she realises it was supposed to be Robert all along, I like all the little references in this film and I think They do a really good job with it. It's still one of my favourites!
Pocahontas' voice actress was also in it. She was the woman who told Edward he was "too late."
The dress in the ball makes the most sense and I’ll explain it. To start off Giselle isn’t a princess, she was gonna marry a prince but she isn’t a princes, now that we have that let’s start by saying that even though she’s from a fairy tale and she creates the manikin, even in New York she wants everything to still feel like her fairy tale, she dresses like she would dress in her OWN WORLD, now she meets Robert and Robert shows her his world, you don’t have to dress nice to look nice, you don’t have to wear makeup to look beautiful, you don’t have to sing, and more importantly love doesn’t happen at first sight and things can change. Robert as well is leaning from Giselle that she’s a girl that has a different point of view towards everything and that in every little thing there can be magic and goodness and beauty. The ball serves as a purpose to reconnect the two but with the different points of views, he dressed as how Giselle dressed her manikin meaning that he loves her and wants to be a “ PART OF HER WORLD “ ( which the song “ Part of your world “ does sound in the movie “ but with that dress she’s also saying I want to be with you, I love you and her way of saying I love your world and want to be a part of this is with that dress. Also she’s been dressing like a princess the whole movie when Robert wasn’t, now it’s the opposite when she’s expected to dress like one she doesn’t, but he does and that’s why the ball scene and her dress has a lot A LOT of meaning.

I believe Giselle's and Nancy's dresses are symbolic of who they're becoming/want to be. Giselle has stayed in the real word for a little bit and likes it better they're. She's becoming part of this world, because of that becoming more mature. Thats what her dress symbolizes. Nancy has the ball gown because thats what she wants and where she ends up going

James Marsden really hit homerun with this role as perfect Disney prince: Fearless, handsome and... not the sharpest tool in the shed, but having immense innocence as well. I would hope Disney would go back and make more actual Originals rather than trying to do live action of old animations.

This movie has to be my a time favorite Disney movie likes you said Rebecca it captures the Disney feeling and magic that the company is built on and this is just does it perfectly ❤
What I love about this movie is that it starts off looking like a parody of a Disney movie, and then introduces a character that has gone cynical, rejecting all the traditional Disney ideals about true love.
But then it turns around, and though there is a role reversal at the end, it vehemently affirms those ideals.
Fun trivia: the troll's seashell earrings are taken from Ariel's bra (this isn't a fan theory, the filmmakers said it explicitly on a DVD commentary track).
The hotel the Prince and Nathaniel are staying at is called the Grand Duke, in reference to Cinderellas Grand Duke
The movie also references Sleeping Beauty with the Queen hiding unconscious Giselle behind her cloak and transforming into a dragon!

The sequel was OK but not a patch on this one. I love this film Enchanted more. Plus Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey had amazing chemistry in this film.
