    As a former fragrance rep, this beautiful soul is providing accurate information about fragrance. It’s so much fun exploring the world of scent. Know what you like & don’t like.
    Research you. If you are allergic to cedar, like me, stay away from perfumes with cedar in the base notes. My sinuses are miserable around cedar. If you hate jasmine or rose, like me, stay clear of those oils in the middle note for they do blend with the base notes and you’ll smell those florals for hours. And get a headache, no doubt. Unlike the presenter on this one topic,
    my advise is to spray the fragrance on a card first. Let it dry. If it’s appealing, chances are you’ll like it on the skin. If it’s offensive, stay clear of it. Sample test only two fragrances at a time. One on each wrist. Try to avoid constantly smelling the fragrance as it dries so that you’re sinuses don’t act the skin to speed up the drying process. Never rub the fragrance, gentle blow on the skin to speed up drying process. Walk around the store or do some shopping for at least 30 minutes to allow the perfume to reach the base note stage which is lingering scent that you and others around you will smell. In no time, you’ll find your signature scent. Mine is the intoxicating, Jimmy Coo ILLICIT. Now, go start your fragrance journey.

    This is an excellent video for beginners and intermediate fragrance collectors. Whitney is obviously well educated and most likely at least bilingual if not multilingual which brings me to the one criticism, although minor, if making a video for English Speakers in America, it would have been better had she used the common English Pronunciation for words such as RENAISSANCE ( Ren is sance); although her pronunciation may be correct. It is the reason why I dislike AI Voiced videos, which I avoid, because of the incorrect and often changed during the video of words. But, Whitney is informative and pleasant to listen and my criticism is probably based on being a croupy old man.

    I am looking to make a specific Fragrance that was Discontinued in the 90s.
    It has 18 Notes.
    I have never been able to find anything to beat it, it is super rare and super expensive when I do find it ($600+) and no Dupes have been created of it yet.
    I have gotten desperate, lmao and have decided if I want this, I will have to make it myself (have no clue what I am doing, lol) - it may not wind up exact but if I can get close, I will be happy.
    It was called Ambre Antique and was made by Coty, and it was Launched in 1905.

    2:08 I’ve also heard that perfume was popular at Versailles because the courtiers would relieve themselves by the palace’s staircases, & because they were often drunk & wearing elaborate clothes, they would often accidentally tinkle on themselves so the perfume helped cover up the drunken urine odor. 😳🤮

    Hi! I’m a fragrance noob, so this video was super helpful! One question… should your hair product scent and your perfume be similar? My hair products are fresh, floral, and a bit citrusy, but the perfume I wanted to try is a sweet, vanilla, cotton candy, coconut scent… is this a bad idea?

    • @TheThingAboutWhit
      @TheThingAboutWhit  Год назад +1

      What a great question! I combine different scented hair products with different body care all the time and the results have always been pleasant. I feel like the body care scents takes the lead most of the time anyway, so if I do ever try to use both hair and body products that smell similarly, it’s only for fun (and to feel extra fancy hehe)

    Another minor criticism is she doesn't recommend places to buy fragrances in full bottles, decanters, and samples with discount. This probably involves developing a relationship with the sellers after contacting them.

    Stupid question but how do I try and recognize the different notes as I’m smelling it? For example I tried the bright crystal from Versace and it’s middle notes had lotus or floral scents but it did not really smell floral or I just don’t know how to smell stuff well. Eitherways any insight would be really great!

    • @TheThingAboutWhit
      @TheThingAboutWhit  Год назад +1

      Ahh! What an interesting question. Now, mind you, I’m no scent expert/professional but I do have an opinion lol. I feel like scents/picking up scents is very much an individual experience and things can smell differently to/on different people. BUT in regards to your actual question, may I suggest exploring more? Like familiarizing yourself with more fragrances over and over again, noticing the notes based on what’s listed for them and noticing how they smell to you, and then letting the natural familiarity that comes from repetition occur. I think that’s how I learned-just trying a lot of scents and noticing what I smell and picking up on the scent memory when smelling a different fragrance😊

    • @tannnshiii
      @tannnshiii Год назад

      @@TheThingAboutWhit that’s a great idea! I think I’ll definitely have to check up on the notes before smelling it so I can recognize it once. Thank you so much!
      I went into the store today to check out some perfumes and my family was pretty impressed with my knowledge, thanks to your video. this is probably the most explained video out there on fragrances so thank you for that as well. Ended up buying Valentino born in roma

There's millions of people that don't have seasons and can't subscribe to those rules or people that just don't want to do that and that's OK
