Hi
2:16 😔 The moment I lost all respect for your best bud. 😁 To me the driving was the worst, the on rails was fine and the 3rd person was the sh¡T. 🤙
Do you and Brian still exchange gifts?
I’ll always remember one night around Christmas break 97 one of my friends got Fighting Force and about 6 of my friends stayed up all night and beat it in one go. None of us ever played it again but that one night will always stick out to me as one of my favorite gaming nights. It was such a good game when it came out
Not calling you a liar but I just can’t comprehend someone playing fighting force back then just once and never wanting to play it again… like what???? I’ve finished this game with friends countless times and now and then we still needed more.
@@doobiestudios1107 true 👍
I use to play the hell out of the game just beat it again a few years ago it was still fun
It’s awesome that you and Brian are still close friends after all the years.
It really is, isn't it!? Thanks for commenting man
I'm so jealous, I wish I had videos of me playing games as a kid.
Best I have is a photo playing Madden 2002 on OG xbox with a few friends at a birthday party in 2001. Wish I had the kind of video footage that Tyler has.
@@pnwrx1562 I have a couple pictures, one where I'm proudly holding my GBA and a Jurassic Park worm light, and another where I'm holding a PS2 controller but the TV isn't in the picture so I don't know what I'm playing.
Damn, I wish I had all these tapes of my childhood to look back on. Even all the awkward moments. Your dad was a genius for filming all of it.
your name made me lol .
@@coolman12329 its from a movie
Your dad had those jokes that would land on their face, and then some would just absolutely KILL 😂
That David Bowie line was on point!
"Oh hey look it's David Bowie!"
I laughed my ass off at that statement! He really does look like David Bowie.
1997-1998 was a great time for the PSX. I remember getting PSX Christmas morning of 1998 w/ the dual shock. Def was one of the highlights of my pre-teen years. Played a lot of Street Fighter Alpha 2 (3 in 1999), Rival Schools, Tekken 3, Megaman X4 & Legends, RE 2, & other titles.
You really liked Capcom games
@@denis-florian_0.57 it was capcoms golden era
PS
Man ff7 was so bad ass. The music just hypes me up. Even 25 years later. The tracks are timeless
You are singlehandedly bringing back all my childhood memories thank you
New subscriber. I'm loving this man. I grew up in extreme poverty and games were my only escape. It was the one thing my dad always managed to get me to make up for nothing else all year. Often using every dollar he had to get it. I'm loving the walk down memory lane
Irk it's almost euphoric
I so miss gaming with my old buddies. Don't know anyone living by me that's into gaming any more. Thanks for the gaming memories.
I keep in touch daily still with my buddy from childhood and we still game to this day we always talk about how times were simpler back then and how much we miss our lan parties with frie ds
I still have my original FF 8 save files also. Definitely good times back in the late 90’s.
Christmas '97 was when I got my PS1, and to this day it's probably the most amazing, most life-changing gift I've ever received. First games I picked up were Twisted Metal 2 and the "Playstation Greatest Hits" version of Jet Moto.
I was late. I got it christmas 1998. With two games. Crash bandicoot 3 and Tomb raider 2. What a time to be alive.
The best thing ever...i miss those playstation 1 era 😥
My and my big brother both went in 50/50 buying our first Playstation. We bought it from Sears. We both also bought 1 game each. He bought Star Wars Masters of Taras Kasi and I bought Tomb Raider 2. The PS1 came with a really nice demo disc too.
I remember finding “ape escape” in a school book fair 2008, and man I idk what made me pick it up and use the 5 odd dollars my mom gave me for something to grab, but I’m glad it happened.
Sweeeet. Congrats on 50k man. Can't imagine how awesome that must feel.
It’s been an incredible ride and I’m thankful for all of y’all. Seriously. Let’s keep going!
Christmas of 1998 is when I got a Playstation, as well as Spyro and Toy Story 2 (which was actually a pretty decent game btw). I can still remember that Christmas morning super vividly
Toy Story 2 didn’t come out until 1999.
It was 1998-99 i was playing nothing but biohazard 3 last escape , Tekken 3, syphon filter 1/2, spyro 2, my early teen years was amazing and still gaming to this day💙
I always get excited like a kid when I see your videos thanks Tyler for the effort
your videos are just something else. i don't know anyone with all these memories and moments from these times. console and game launches of the past are so cool to watch because i remember all the hype for games in the early days of the internet.
Appreciate it! Glad you are enjoying the videos
This footage is amazing, what a great time capsule!
I WISH I HAVE VIDEOCAMERA BACK IN1997-1999 GOOD OLD DAYS
I remember how big a deal FF7 was when it came out, great game I've got the original version for switch and the remake for ps4. That's cool he kept that memory card from way back in the day
As a millennial old soul person for 1998 i always like seeing the original PlayStation 1 especially the games itself.
I can’t believe Brian still had the original save files. That’s insane, and the amount of hours he put in the game did it Justice lol.
Oh boy, a new Retro Life episode!
About that Xenogears-themed ending, man...all the feels.
My father was a sker, You are lucky to have such a diamond dad who recorded your whole life for you
Street fighter EX plus alpha YESSSS!! My all time favourite fighting game
Congratulations on the 50k. Fighting force brings back so many memories.
Yes! Thank you!
I've been trying to remember what that game was called it was in my memory so long thank you for unlocking it 💯😢
I'm little late to the party, so I'm 38 now and I remember to the day my first final fantasy 7 experience. It was on a Friday my dad took me to blockbuster after school and I could rent a game. Nothing peaked my internet so I saw FF7 and said I give it a try. Played it by myself for couple hours that night and didn't like it. Mind you I'm a huge resident evil game fan and not into any RPG's. Saturday came and I played it all day. I got so hooked. Ended up getting game for my birthday and still have my original FF7 game from that birthday in 90's. One of my all time top favorites titles ever. Great video, new sub!!!!
Thanks for these quick little time travel sessions back to the 90's. I'm a little older than you but our childhoods are similar, Do you have any other videos from the 90s not gaming related? Maybe something as mundane as going to McDonald's or the mall? These videos bring me back to much simpler times.
I'm in the UK, and I got a PS1 at Xmas 2002 when I was just 4 years old! It was my first ever games console, and some of the games I remember were Play with the Teletubbies (based on the hit BBC/PBS TV series of the same name of course), Rugrats Search for Reptar, Ten Pin Bowling, Driver 1 and Driver 2!
I was just playing Fighting Force in my modded Playstation classic mini and thought of this video, figured I’d watch it again for the 10th time. Lol 👍
Haha excellent! I really need to revisit that games
I'm hooked on your channel tyler! This was exactly my life in the 80s,90s and 2000s I had all the games and systems and this really takes me back!
Thanks! Appreciate the comment
I still have my play station one boxed. The box is great condition to.
Although I never grew up in the 90s, let alone was born yet, my dad had his PS1 that I have the earliest memories of playing games like tekken 3 and mortal kombat trilogy. I recently found a CIB Greatest hits FF7 copy for $30 at my local retro game store and I am definitely going to play it as my first Final Fantasy when I find the time!
Oh my God I absolutely loved fighting force as a child!!!!
I totally forgot about it!!!
That’s really cool you’re still friends with him. I don’t really talk to many of my old friends I grew up with.
Have to say man my mom passed away recently and watching your videos and remembering my childhood cause she bought me all my consoles and games it's really helping me deal with it in a strange way I'm remembering the great times rather then focusing the fact that shes not here anymore , so I just want to say thanks .
I am SO sorry man. Glad to hear that the videos are helping in some way. It always amazes me when I hear something like this. Thank you for sharing and praying for better days ahead.
@@MyRetroLife i did the recording of the PlayStation 1 Startup Screen just for you. and i hope you have a wonderful day.
Close to 15 years after your dad died.
I can’t believe how far games have come
98 was a godlike year for gaming
This footage is amazing I would cherish brian
I always remember playing the PlayStation back then
Dude me and you had the same childhood!!! I was there!! 1998-1999-2002- we had toonami and all that
Majora's mask
Earthbound
We were so lucky to have a time like that exist that was a era that'll live forever in our hearts
Amen bro!
I noticed a couple of cheeky ff8 saves on that card😂. Man I love those games so many memories
Much ❤, Tyler and Bryan...🙏
Bryan did what I did with FF7…he re-named all his characters…of course you see Cloud’s name replaced with his name, the owner/person playing the game wanted to be that hero…cool to see you in his main group with the name Tyler in place of Cid…You must have had a friend named Rasheed! At any rate, I downloaded this game on my switch seven year old son right now, he is in awe of the game. I thought he would think it was too boring and I wouldn’t be able to play it, but he asks me to put it all the time..amazing how many memories are coming back…although we are keeping the character’s usual names.
You guys were all so sweet to Maggie!! ❤❤
Got my ps1 in September 1997 on my 9th birthday fun times. I remember I got the Interactive CD sampler pack with the ps1. It had Fighting force on there and you could play the first level. Also had I think Cool Boarders 2, Crash 2, Jet Moto 2, Tomb Raider 2 all demos. Was a awesome bday, the only other game I got that day was NFL gameday 98. Then I got to go rent some games after that, memories I'll have forever. As always good stuff tyler!!!!
this is so much cooler watching real footage of these games compared to people in 2022 playing them
New to the channel but love the content. Congratulations on 50k!
Thanks and welcome!
I love these retro videos and stories!
More to come! Thanks for watching
Met this dude today at retrocon great person to chat got an autograph from him it was an honor to meet this guy 🤝
Nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by
Ok what do i do now, i have completely watched and re-watched all of your episodes. This is something i can listen to while working. Its like Angry Video Game Nerd level of awesome.
That’s a huge compliment. Thanks man. More to come I promise
Omg I love this channel because it just takes me back in time, I know exactly what I was doing during this time of your retro videos. Both the same age too.
Your dad is awesome. I was cracking up with the Dave Bowie comment
Really enjoy Brian being on, same with cousin manny. Just great watching.
Hope to have hun on again soon!
That Xenogears music at the end, I felt that
Damn, I was actually born exactly 10 days prior to this footage.
I remember getting my PS1 in 98. Got Spyro the dragon and the interactive 8 demo disc
Sometimes when I'm playing something and stuck I ask myself what tips your dad would give you here. It's clutch at times. All y'all are good people, cheers.
What a great friend
In one of your video i asked about your friend(the one with glass) and thank you for bringing
Him in your channel.
i love seeing your retro videos from back in the days
Cool to see you guys still keep in touch.
I remember receiving a copy of Baldur's gate dark alliance for the GBA and Dragon warrior monsters for GBC as a Christmas and bday gift back on 2004.
We were so poor back then so it's a really big deal for me back then.
Life before social media was the best.
Very cool. Thank you for sharing this memory.
This channel is awesome! The dad jokes might be the best part!
1998 that was Good time i was playing metal gear And resident evil 1 on ps1 in that time it is truly unforgettable memories😢
So random but I have a vivid memory of that day, January 3rd, 1998. I wanted to order the FFVII soundtrack CD. So I asked my mom to call two of the mail order places that were selling them and to order one on her credit card that would be cheapest after shipping. The first one she called had a guy thinking that she was a little kid because she has a somewhat high pitched voice, so he asked her how old she was. It happened to be her birthday (yeah I feel kinda bad now asking her to do things for me on her birthday) and she said "I'm 40, today!" We all had a good laugh. Just funny that I knew exactly what I was doing the same day this was filmed and I was all about some FFVII that day too.
Really enjoyed the video always enjoy them. To me this time period is the golden age of video gaming. So much amazing memories and nostalgia for me.
This chanel is way underrated such nostalgic videos for kids from the 90s and 80s
That’s so cool you can watch all these memories of your dad
Man I love these videos,so much nostalgia,I feel like I'm there with you guys. This has definitely got to be my favorite channel on RUclips. I would have loved to meet you at socal retro gaming in a couple of weeks but I'll be on a cruise that week
I bet Brian was the slightly older and taller friend of the bunch that wouldn't let anyone mess with yall growing up
Coincidentally a few days ago a friend gave me a Ps1. It has made me very excited to recover this console that I enjoyed so much with my brothers. Great memories Tyler
God the PS1 ... I still remember getting one with Alien Trilogy and croc legend of the gobbos as my first 2 games. Mostly bought the animated Adventure games and horror titles on that system
You're amazing Tyler! My brother also got a PS1 on Xmas 1997! Much love from the UK
Right back at you Gemma! Thanks for being so cool
Thank you Tyler and Brain for this great video.
I love watch these retro videos of your life Tyler.
Your dad was truly a great father.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks man
Brings me back to my childhood man keep up the great content
Fighting Force! What a badass brawler! Great game to beat and have fun if there was little time to play.
I think this year I was playing Brave Fencer Musashi haha.
That bill Clinton line was muah chefs kiss lol
Great video man brings back a ton of memories
Im always talking about the 90s with my family. Good times, simple and just magical.
I don’t care about nerf at all but for some reason seeing this video I automatically love them! You’re channel is and always will be the best dude 🤘
Great video guys , brought back some memories of the ps1 👌👌👌
This is absolutely awesome, I have a few photos of me and my granddad playing the Playstation together. They sit in a frame in my game room as a timeless reminder.
What a magical moment. I'll always love the Saturn more, but PlayStation was just it's own league. The games were astounding, and I still remember playing Tekken 2, Twisted Metal 2 and FFVII on the same day at a friend's house. Changed my world.
Amazing video I really enjoy it thanks Tyler 👍
Awesome video with your friend Brian! This is what it’s all about!
Thats awesome, I still have my original saves on both my ps1 and 2. Wish the saves on the ps1 were dated. My ps2 saves are 20 years old. This channel makes me feel so old.
Great show
What a surprise Final Fantasy Vll was at the end of the show. I have a save file on my old memory card with over a 100hrs on it since it stops counting after 99. It even has teeth marks from my old dog bitting it. Still works.
Like always, Awesome video Tyler!! That’s so cool that you have footage with the same friend you were able to have with u on the show. Crazy how time flys. Great nostalgic feels like always brother! 🎮 God Bless!
Awesome video, buddy!
Please make more catch-up videos with your old friends!
