As a 51 year old father, I almost cry when I watched your video. I used to play with my son when he was basically 3-4 years old. I had the Sega CD and actually the 32X add-on too. You have brought me back to the early 90s and appreciate how this console actually paved the way for the DVD/Bluray based consoles.
My daughter went the Nintendo way, and I taught her how to play, she gave up gaming for years and his boyfriend bought her a switch, she beat me frequently in Mario Kart 8. :)
As of today my son and I are still gaming buds, now online due to distance. I play online almost everyday.
I really loved your video... thanks

These videos really make me feel good. Your childhood was kinda similar to mine. I was born in 87 and my grandfather was just like your dad we both loved video games and he also used to capture a lot of stuff on camera like playing games and days out and stuff so I could always look back on it all. He was sort of like a pre internet blogger too just like your dad lmao. That’s why these videos make me so happy, your dad fully just reminds me of my grandad. I lost him to suicide in August 2007, after my grandmother passed in December 2006. He was blown away by how fast consoles were changing towards the end of the 90s and i remember the one he was most mind blown with was the first Xbox. Last console we got together was the PlayStation 3. I really hope your dad is doing well up there Tyler, he was one heck of a guy from what I’ve seen ❤️

That werewolf game looks awesome, I have no idea how I've missed that one all my life. See, your dad is helping some random guy find a game all these years later. Talk about leaving your mark. I hope my kids talk about me the same way, I raised them all with games. Me and my son still play together, though he's much too busy for it most of the time now, being away at school. Maybe one day he'll happily tell everyone all about how we went through Dark Souls together. Except in that case it was him giving me tips.
Watching your childhood is seriously nostalgic for me, except my own dad didn't play. I had to beg and convince my parents for every game I got. They took care of me though, I always had a console or games for Christmas and Birthday. Getting a new console with a couple of games was absolute heaven lol. Christmas day, going to relatives house just and dreaming of getting back home to play my new games.
Wow, you had Snatcher! Totally jealous now. I didn't get to play that until I was in my 30s.

My father, who died in 2010, played the Master System but never showed much interest in the Genesis or Sega CD (he still gamed well into the 2000s but on various laptops).
The one slightly amusing anecdote I have about him with the Sega CD was that he was holding a week-between-Christmas-and-New-Years party for a few of his friends in the living room upstairs in 1993 or 1994 and I guess he wanted to put on a CD but the Radio Shack Realistic CD player that he had bought the best part of a decade earlier in late 1985 was no longer playing discs all that reliably. So he came downstairs to the family room, possibly while I was playing something on the Genesis or Sega CD (or maybe I was just watching television) and started to pick up the Sega CD unit. I had to inform him of one major flaw with his plan, namely that there were no external CD player controls on the Sega CD itself and you kind of needed it to be attached to the Genesis which, in turn, needed to be attached to a television to be able to play music CDs properly (and there wasn't any TV to hook it up to in the living room since it was a fairly small living room as far as living rooms go, just a component stereo system).
I suppose he could have had hooked up the Genesis and Sega CD to the stereo anyway and blindly fumbled around with the Genesis controller until a CD started playing but it would have been blind luck.

The 90's were absolutely unique. People think it's just another historical relativism, but it's NOT. Just think how many consoles there were fighting for our money mid 90's (over 10!). 3DO, Saturn, PC FX, Jaguar, PlayStation, Pippin, CDi, Nintendo 64, Amiga... all just a couple years apart from each other. It was literally one revolution after another. The 90's were the beginning of the two greatest events in gaming history: 3D graphics and online play. When the Sega CD was released we were all blown away (don't even get me started on the 3DO! It was like alien technology!!!). Videos like this make for an unvaluable historical record. This is history in the making before our very eyes. Never to be seen again. 😥

Man, thank you for showing the Sega CD some love. I see so many people bashing it, calling it a huge failure, but in my eyes it was an amazing console. It introduced me to my favorite genre of games; point and click adventure games. I received Secret of Monkey Island for Christmas in '93 just because my mom thought the case looked cool. I hadn't even heard of it, honestly wasn't even all that hyped about it after reading the back of the case. Of course I played it up a little when I opened it, I'd never tell my parents I was disappointed with a gift. We are a family of 5 and living off of just my dad working so money was ultra tight. But my parents did everything they humanly could to make us happy. So I ended up opening up Monkey Island thr day after Christmas and trying it out, really more looking forward to playing Prize Fighter, but those plans changed about an hour into playing Monkey Island. I was so engrossed in it, the music, the setting, the offbeat humor. It became my obsession and to this day I still play it.

It's great that you have all that old footage saved to help cherish those times. I loved the SEGA CD as well, with Snatcher easily being my favourite -- it's still in the collection!

I can see how appealing and groundbreaking flashback could be. The characters movement are definitely a step up for a video game especially back then.

After having watched several of your videos now, I have slowly built this picture of your channel not really being about your childhood in gaming EXACTLY, but actually it's a shrine to your father. I see now that this man is sadly no longer with us.
What a wonderful tribute to the man, and to carry on his legacy too. I never met him, but it's clear that he would adore what you've done here with this channel, and clearly, from reading down here in the comments it strikes a powerful chord with many others too.
The kind of dad it's sad everyone can't have.
    Best wishes.

There was a moment in a video of you as a kid with flashback and you said you didn't even know it was out yet. I miss those moments. Now we are connected to everything and so many little surprises like that are gone in our current reality. Le sigh... either way I enjoyed your sharing friend. got my sub and bell.

Snatcher!! I just played and beat that game a month ago, and had the same disappointing feeling that it was over when I beat it, but I'm definitely planning on starting it over again soon! Thank you for posting this!!

Hearing about your Christmases as a family brings a smile to my face, whether it's because of the narration, the video footage, or even how crazy the hauls can get.
However, if you're uploading extended cuts of older videos, could you upload your Disney Afternoon retrospective? I'd love to see that again.
On another note, I strongly feel like your father would have LOVED the Jeff Fowler Sonic movies.

My favorites were Sewer shark and Spider-Man cd. I remember by older brother brought one home and I was amazed it played cds lol. I really enjoy your videos and binge watch here and there. I’m 40, I vividly remember so much of your old videos. Thanks for the videos and bringing back really great memories

I love your video memories so much. It really makes my day and brings me back to a day of happy and simpler times. It was nice seeing what your Dad liked too this time. I love the Sega Cd a large amount as well, so much that I have two of them. Lol. I have a Model 2 hooked up to the Mega SG on our living room TV and I have the Model 1 Beauty hooked into the Hi Def graphics Genny and a 32X to make the tower hooked up to the Big Crt in the game room. Here are some of my favorites from the system. First, two of your Dad’s also make my list. The Terminator and Snatcher! Both incredible games. They have aged so well. Even though Tommy T has been silly with Amico, that soundtrack he did for Terminator is awesome. Here are my other favorites for the system.
Sports: Nba Jam and NHL 94.
Fighting Games: Eternal Champions and Mortal Kombat
Shmups: Android Assault: Revenge of Bari Arm
Platformers: Pitfall The Mayan Adventure, Mickey Mania, Sonic Cd, and Earthworm Jim Special Edition.
RPGs: Lunar, Lunar 2, and Shining Force Cd
Finally, odd ended game but a game I play and enjoy with my 10 year old today, Star Wars Chess. So fun and funny.

I’m probably going to say something everyone has said before but I remember finding your videos years ago on Amazon! I couldn’t stop watching these chronicles of your childhood and family! I relate to sooo much of your childhood, but I never had as many games as you lol!
Sometimes it’s just nice to take a break from this crazy world and go back to the 80’s and 90’s to relive so many similar experiences through your videos! So while I obviously never got to meet your dad, he seems like he was awesome and I know he’d be proud of you for passing on one of his hobbies to his granddaughter lol! Thanks for sharing these with us! It takes me back to a simpler time!

I like these videos. My dad loved Sega CD and 32X too...its a fond memory for me because that was the last real system we played together, .... about that time he got hooked into drugs and alcohol, and we never really connected with video games again. The summer we borrowed the Sega CD and 32X for my summer vacation, always makes me smile. I don't care what anyone says, we had a blast with Sewer Shark.

I rented Mansion of Hidden Souls because I really liked the 7th Guest and it reminded me of it. Great Video even better memories, thanks for sharing.
