The Espositos are the Belmonts of video game families. Absolute legends
Well put. 💯
You had the best dad ever dude, what a wonderful thing to own all this footage, he would have been so proud of you buddy to see what youve done for his legacy.
Frfr
The legacy of buying video games? Lol ok
The best part is, we weren't there. But we're all sharing the same amazing memories.
@@yungalucard9139I feel bad for you. I’m sorry you had a terrible childhood. It wasn’t your fault. But let’s try to show some kindness to others.
@@yungalucard9139yea...sure it can be seen as lame....but your here watching. His dad was wayyy ahead of the curve of gaming are you kidding. You didn't film game stores and collections in 1990. That wasn't a thing until 20 years later. The guy isn't here anymore and has been for ,15+ years, but his legacy, his footage, his moments, his family,is living on through the audience. That's something money doesn't buy you. Sure you chalk it up to "a legacy of just buying games" but he saw it(video games) along side.msic and movies as the art they truly are. Ppl have much more an appreciation for the art today, and this guy was doin it big time. What's your legacy Gunna be? You'll be lucky to even have more than a dozen ppl view your face or hear your voice
Man I'm so glad SEGA is finally making a comeback, it truly is a Christmas miracle!!
Isn’t it!?
I literally stopped watching the game awards after that. That was all I wished for.
Your dad single handedly kept the sega CD alive just by all the games he purchased for you guys 😁
Your dad said to Manny, " in that big box you know what it is? A bill". That had me laughing just thinking how much money all those presents were. Your parents did Christmas big, and together with everyone.
A look back at EVERY SEGA GAME we got on Christmas between 1991-2002. OVER A DECADE OF SEGA!
how were you able to play shenmu EU on an american dreamcast? always thought dreamcast was region locked.
Every time you do a video man it's like a flood of memories.
It's nice to be able to watch something that lets you recall your own awesome memories.
Love this, I lost my dad when I was 20 and I have all these great memories (unfortunately not filmed). I couldn't sleep one Xmas eve and my dad shouted me to the top of the stairs, put the mega drive on the bottom step and said " Now go to bloody sleep". I wish he was still around if only to experience games today. I remember him being blown away by night trap on the sega cd so much he had to go out and buy me the console! (The game turned out to be a turd but still). And I remember being stuck on the final boss of Wonderboy in monster land on the master system, came home from school and he had beat it! Luv you dad.
Your videos are simply good for the soul, it always brings back childhood memories for me. Even though I'm not an American and come from Germany, my parents always gave me video games every year for Christmas or my birthday, that was a nice time and memory. Thanks for uploading the video, I've been a fan since the beginning
Wow, thank you. I love getting to share these memories. It’s a “get to” in my life.
Du sagst es Bruder 🙏🏼
Now i wished i had lived through the 90s... could you imagine lunar in the bargain bin at an average store?
It was an amazing time to grow up
@@MyRetroLife Ill bet! My dad reminds me of all those times him and his friend played soul calibur and crazy taxi on the dreamcast.
Christmas makes me feel a little younger again when it comes every year.
These christmas videos take me right back to my childhood. Im 43 now but those times were so special to me with my family.
Ahh yes, the old Trojan clothes gift box trick...classic. There were those Dads that yelled at you to put down the video games and go play outside, not this time! I will never forget one of the most magical Christmas mornings of my life. When I got the SEGA Fighting System with Streets of Rage 2. Thank you Mom, thank you Dad. I mean "Santa." And thank you for sharing these memories with us, we all feel them collectively, and blend with our own endearingly.
Stay at home gamer dad here to a 5 and 1 year old at the moment. I think I've got a few years on you, but man, Sega and Christmas were made for each other. Just wanted to finally say thank you for sharing these moments with us. My son's asked for a blue xbox Controller this year and I hope it pairs nicely with a copy of Sonic Superstars. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
You really were lucky growing up.
But the best part is keeping all that footage.
Games are great but memories are invaluable.
I think the greatest reference to the early 90s is the JVC shirt you were wearing from 1992!
Haha true!
Watching this was a real treat. I loved when your dad was talking to your mom and was like, "Of course, he knows his games", proud dad moment right there!
I, too, had many great SEGA Christmases. You've got a good family.
Dude I can’t express how happy your videos make me. My dad never played games but he always made sure to get me what I wanted even if it meant overtime. Thanks for this time capsule, we’re around the same age, really takes me back!!
Thanks man! Merry Christmas
This was what I always wished I had when I was a kid. One year my mom got my uncles old sega box and filled it will clothes and that’s what I got. I’ll never forget that.
Nice memories. I'm a lil older so I remember getting the Sega Master system for Christmas in '86 and then the Genesis in Christmas '89. Fun times.
I've got a SNES on Christmas 1992! 🙂
That close up of Surf Ninjas on Game Gear brought back fond memories of playing the game while watching the movie and pretending I was the kid controlling what was happening during the restaurant fight scene.
Recently been watching a lot of nostalgia vids on RUclips going back to the 90’s/early 2000’s but this one really takes the cake. Thanks bud, love all your content. Merry Christmas to you and yours
Glad you enjoyed it! Merry Christmas
I miss these times and my mom. I watch your vids before sleep and dream of the retro life. Thank you sir
Seeing this reminds me of when I’d go visit my Uncle every Christmas. He’d spoil me so bad with the best gifts. Unfortunately he passed away back in 2005. Most kids never get showered with so much affection.
“Oh my goodness, I’m goin game nuts this Christmas” 😂
This christmas videos just made me gain even more respect for your dad. And the joy you displayed everytime you opened a gift, took me back to better times. Maybe videogames were a gift I got in my teenage years, but I can't help but remember how wholesome us Christmas when we are kids and teenagers. Thanks for the video Tyler, you even included the one where your grandparents were going to send you Sonic Adventure 2, but the mail company delivered a FIFA game.
Thank you for this video it puts a big tear in my eye. I love this nostalgia 🍻🎄❤️
You are so welcome!
We are the same age, so watching your childhood videos make me SUPER nostalgic. And we were definitely playing the same games. So awesome. Keep sharing these amazing memories!
I miss this time so much. Having both of my parents around me at this time of the year. Pure harmony and no worries. Your videos always make me cry. Thank you
Sega genesis is more popular now then ever before plus with the homebrews are making it mark evermore greater too
I normally don't say this because I think it is cheesy...But dude I appreciate you for sharing these videos and memories. My Pop wasn't into video games at all, but he use to take my brothers and I to rent games on Saturdays or he would just rent and bring them home...One thing we were blessed to do was grow up in the 90s.
It's nice to see someone so appreciative of what they receive for Christmas a simple thank you goes a long way.
At one point you guys have John Lennon Happy X-mas war is over playing while opening presents. That was our tradition during presents! We played that song every year. Lennon is a personal hero of mine, but that song means so much at that time of year. I can't believe you were just opening presents to that song. One of the greatest things in my childhood.
Shinobi III isy favorite game on the Genesis and one of my favorite games of all time... Quackshot too what a great underrated game that game was so fun
Oh the 90's....to me it will always be a golden era of gaming.Your dad is a legend. My dad also passed away but he also made sure to get us the best, especially Christmas 1997 and Playstation 1.....that changed everything for me and thanks to him I am and always will be a video game fan :) Greeting from Slovakia (Europe).P.S. Thanks for these videos,it really takes me back to my childhood as well :)
Exactly my life
I just appreciate how appreciative you were through all the years
I defeated Shemue Thanksgiving that year; the same year you received it for Christmas.
"Its enough to make a grown man cry". I will never forget that statement from your dad, especially now im experiencing buying games for my kids now. 😃😃😃😃
I love the old cool gifts in a clothes box trick!
13:40 Toy Story is one of my favorites! I grew up with all the movies! 🤩
I never had those Sega consoles oh man the Sega Genesis was ahead of it's time and good! ❤
Man i wish my christmas's were like this ,my father was a hardened military man and treated christmas like another day but it was always nice seeing other people enjoy christmas
You absolutely scored! My parents didn’t believe in getting video games for birthdays or Christmas.
Your dad loved you so much. I love seeing his joy in your happiness.
Great video Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas and happy new year. Cheers from Canada!😁👍🏻
Same to you!
Seeing your good ol' pup in these videos always touches my heart (Maggie was her name?) I have an older pup who will be turning 15 in April and she's getting rusty 😭.
Die hard Sega Saturn fan, btw. Amazing content as always.
The best gift is to keep these recordings
Love your videos Tyler. They remind me so much of when i was a kid. Getting games at Christmas and birthdays and then playing them with my cousins and seeing what games they got also.
Wow I was emotional through the whole video. I could only dream of continuous Christmases like these.
My dad was a dead beat loser and left my mom when I was 4. My mom did the best as a single mother of 3 to give us the best Christmases she could.
Thank you mom and thank you Esposito family for these memories you bestowed upon us. Merry Christmas!
People would love to have the amazing childhood you had. A lot of us probably grew up poor and our parents not able to afford games for Christmas but you had one amazing dad and I hope you realize that.
The 90s was an amazing time for video games, I'm glad to have lived through it. :)
The best part is seeing the pets. You should do a separate channel of just the pets. That spaniel is awesome.
I wish my parents had captured more Christmas and birthday gift openings of games. I'm glad I remember those big Christmases of opening the big systems. They made those very special. My favorite was getting the OG Xbox and having to follow clues to find it. So many great memories.
I have to say I really appreciate your videos... I was born in 86 so a lot of this stuff brings back the best of memories.
Your dad seems every bit as cool as my own.
It's really great to relive my own memories that these videos trigger.
Thank you again!
I was born 87
Long live to Sega and the 16-bit era!🔥
I remember getting my first computer for Christmas a Commodore C16 lol. God im old.
That 1994 haul was insane 😅
The golden age of video games. I had a Sega cd as well and a lot of these games. Good times and memories, thanks for sharing your home movies.
Your catalog of the 90's, The best time is amazing, keep em coming.
Quack Shot is a Badass game!!! My Dad got it for christmas from my Mom and us kids played the hellouta it!! Great Video, Merry Christmas to All
Fantastic gifts indeed 😮😊 i fondly remember 1993 christmas receiving a genesis copy of sf2 special champion edition
Omfg hearing that chipmunk Christmas music just made my heart melt my grandmother would play that every Christmas on her A track
My goodness. All I can say is thank you, man. So many unlocked memories. Goosebumps when you opened Shenmue! The whole vibe of your family’s Christmas is very similar to my own. I know we would have been very good friends if we went to the same school. I would also be so curious to hear your thoughts on the newly announced Sega titles in the making!! I am so excited. Thank you always for these memories.
Your videos make me so nostalgic. Thanks to you, and your dad.
Loving all the Christmas footage! 🎄❤
Thank you for sharing. I know it’s probably a painful time of the year without him, but just remember these moments where it’s so clear how much he loved you. I didn’t have this growing up and I beg you to really cherish these moments he captured for you and your family. Merry Christmas.
So much love and care here!!!! If all kids could have such lovely fathers and christmas. Love it. Have to share a similar experience, just less lovely....
I got a Sega Mega Drive in 1991 with Altared Beast and Sonic. I loved it so much, even if the games was hard to beat that young. Had it for possibly a year until it
dissapeared (?). I was told it was broken (and no comment to what happend to it) and I was told to accept the fact (?), just to feel decieved and lied to my whole childhood.
As adult when I asked my mother to know the truth what really happend to it - I was told my father had drunken stepped right on it so his foot crashed through the console.
Then they threw away not just the console BUT freakin both my games and the controllers (!) and even if that was what I had expected had happend, I had to set her up for "consequence" respons like "how could you both do that to me and never tell the truth?", "How could you throw away the games and controllers?" even a 4-5 year old me knew they where expensive luxuary to own and could have at least been kept or at the very least sold and invested in a new game system (!).
My mother knew I was speaking truth about my child awareness and confessed; "We really did not know any better back then...".
This brings back so many nostalgic memories for me. I think we are about the same age. 1985. I was most excited to receive video games for Christmas.. I remember my parents would let me open one gift on Xmas eve, and I made sure I picked a video game. Although I was a SNES guy, I would always befriend the kids that had SEGA. Great footage!
😢 this brought back so many memories as a kid I'm 39 now and hearing those budgies in the background was like being in a time machine I was sonic and golden axe 🪓 obsessed my first console was the amstrad lol kids these days will never understand how great Xmas were in the 90s made a grown man cry watching this ❤️
The first Sega game for me on Xmas, aside for Altered Beast was Phantasy Star II!! The VHS tape of it survived!
Damn your one Christmas was like all of my childhood combined.
This video made me shed multiple tears while watching... what a cool family and what amazing gifts. All of these awesome SEGA games.... TOO COOL! Even the ones that never came out in America :(
Love your videos. I’ve got similarly fond memories from my childhood. Unwrapping a Christmas present and finding a good game was like a dream to me.
Mikey has such trouble with boxes😂
Enough to make a grown man cry!.... when he gets the bill....
That quote always cracks me up
I'm a SEGA kid too, I love SEGA. Thanks for sharing 😊
That’s just awesome! Your dad reminds me of myself. I love videogames, I have since I was very young. I love getting games for my kids and myself. We’re all gamers here. Love your videos, Tyler!
holy crap dude that's incredible. Would your dad tell you to never sell them in the future and that it would be valuable?
I could watch videos like these all day. So cool that you have all of this to remember!
Man your dad was amazing another great video Tyler thank you for sharing have a great Christmas buddy
New to the Channel. NGL, I came here after seeing your apology about the Completionist situation. Seeing you apologize like an adult made me want to come watch, and I'm glad I did. I never really had a Dad growing up, and seeing this video just made me smile so hard. You seem like a stand up guy, and I'm glad I found you, even if it was during a complete bumfuzzle.
I was lucky enough to be English and also receive shenmue 2 for Christmas. I still have found memories and was buzzing about the game just like you. Awesome to see this and have these memories on video
I used to have that Chipmunk Christmas Record man you got a lot of great games growing up
This video really got me emotioned, i got back to the days where the main worries were "How many amazing game and stylish adventures am i gonna find under the tree this year?", this really was dope man thank you for this video and the further.
Love from Milan - Italy, have a nice christmas
man i got shinobi 3 when i was a kid and didnt hear of it before hand, it quickly became my favorite game for sega so good
You have a good family where everyone communicated and got you what you wanted! Video games galore! My question is did you ever get doubles? If so what did you do? Exchange at the store for another title? BTW Lunar for Sega CD! 😅
The shear excitement and respect you showed though out the years is Awesome.
Your doing a great job honoring your dad and all his hard work he did capturing all these moments for you and everyone in the world to see one day! It's all we want as parents - It's more fun to see your guys reactions to getting these gifts then us receiving them. I remember giving my son every christmas these types of games and watching him light up like you did!! Thanks for sharing these awesome memories...
Merry Christmas Tyler, these vids always have a good cozy vibe. Hope you enjoy making the same memories with your family and kids.
Wow! An Electronics Boutique bag! Now that brings me back!
What I love MOST about this channel; your DAD!
Starting to look forward to these Christmas videos each year!
This channel is magical. I get to relive my childhood through yours. I'm so grateful for you sharing these videos.
I send these videos to my own parents and we reminisce about my and my brother's childhood
I also think about your dad's videos when I'm recording my children's gaming adventure. If I didn't say it enough, thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks again for a cry and smile. Your dad would be proud of these videos you produce to warm other's minds and hearts. Happy holidays!
These videos are just the best! ❤ thanks as always Tyler!
Your videos are such a great watch. You had one amazing dad. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
My dad got me a carton of marlboros. What a great childhood you had!!!!
Bless you and yours, MRL, and thank you for this incredible footage!! This has, and will bring as much joy to those watching, as you felt, unboxing those games with your loved ones!~
This is the episode of episodes! What an awesome complation of Christmases Tyler!
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
