I have had B6 toxicity for over a year and a half and no one knows why or how to help me. I used to take the occasional B complex and i drank Liquid Iv electrolyte drinks which contain added synthetic Bs. I literally thought i was dying... cardiac symptoms, arrhythmia, stroke-like symptoms, neuropathy, severe sleep disturbance, bruxism, hyperreflexia, severe fatigue, etc. I stopped all synthetic Bs 6 months ago and started eating healthy, eating mostly meat and veggies and taking beef liver supplements. I finally began feeling better, but still had some tingling and bruxism, but it not nearly as bad. I was finally healing... but then had my B6 rechecked, and was shocked to find it is even higher than it was before when i felt my worst. If i back off the beef liver i start to feel horrible again, so i tend to agree with the theory that some of us who are toxic are actually deficienct at the cellular level. Our bodies cannot effectively convert the b6 into its usable form so it accumulates in the blood. I also believe the worst symptoms were due to the synthetic B in my body. I also discovered i have an MTHFR gene mutation as well as a mutation that keeps me from properly absorbing B6. I also have hashimotos and found that many others with B6 toxicity also have it. I'm 45 and also going thru perimenopause. There may be a perfect storm for some of us of gene mutations and uncontrolled inflammation (which could be caused by any variety of things). My current course of action is to address the inflammation caused by hashimoto's and see where that leads. I just can't believe our Healthcare professionals have NO IDEA about any of this. It's been an absolute nightmare. I hope science catches up soon.

As some research sites claim, the in active form of B6 called Pyridoxine is usually in plant based food.
The active B6 form is in animal based proteins. That may be why you feel better after consuming beef liver.
There is an active form of B6 in the market called P5P tablets and liquids.
Since you are in the UK, there is a metabolic unit at St. Thomas Hospital in London that does the blood test of P5P. It is called the nutristatis unit if you wish to google it.
If you do decide to take P5P supplements then begin on a low dose and don’t do this high dosage stuff. Low dosage means 2.5 mg to 10 mg daily. I would begin at 2.5 and see if the brand you are taking is okay with your digestive system. Begin gradually and see where it takes you.
Your blood test should cover, P5P, Active B12 , Homocysteine. I believe this lab performs them all.
      I hope this helps.

Tingling in the feet could be due to B1 and B12 deficiencies. At advanced age, Pernicious Anemia can result from inability to make 'intrinsic factor' that absorps B12 from food in the stomach. A sublingual 1-5,000 mcg is a good solution.
Fat-soluble Benfotiamine B1 absorbs 5-8 times better than Thiamine mononitrate/HCl and crosses the blood-brain-barrier and myelin sheath.
P-5-P B6 is safe upto 7 grams, according to Nerve Doctor Dr Valerie Monteiro

    • @pramuanchutham7355
      @pramuanchutham7355 9 месяцев назад

Cyanocobalamin B12 is also toxic to the cells, as it releases cyanide-group during conversion to the active Methylcobalamine.
Folic Acid B9 can also be toxic for those without MTHFR- genes to convert it to active methylfolate. Residues can cause kidney-stones and even cancer.
Most people opt for cheap, toxic-component Multivitamins since respectable brands are way overpriced. Try Life Extension two-per-day multis.

P5P can also cause issues. It may be a different method though. The bottom line is that if you have disrupted aldehyde detoxification then if you take B6 or even vitamin A I think, then you could get toxicity. I just took 4 capsules of 50mg P5P and now a few days later I have paresthesias all over my body. I never thought it could happen so fast. If there was a way to test for that then you would know if it was safe to take B6.

      From the research paper:
"The vitamin B6 paradox: Supplementation with high concentrations of pyridoxine leads to decreased vitamin B6 function"
"In conclusion, the present study strongly indicates that the neuropathy observed after taking a relatively high dose of vitamin B6 supplements is due to the vitamer that is used in the supplements, namely pyridoxine. The inactive form pyridoxine competitively inhibits the active pyridoxal-phosphate. As a consequence, the paradox arises that the symptoms of vitamin B6 supplementation are similar to those of vitamin B6 deficiency. Vitamin B6 supplements are used by a large number of people. The safety of vitamin B6 is debated and recently EFSA has lowered the upper limit for vitamin B6. The question is whether lowering the safe dose for vitamin B6 is the solution. Remarkably, even at relatively low dose, vitamin B6 supplementation has given rise to complaints. Our study indicates that the toxicity of vitamin B6 is not only determined by the dose, but by the vitamer in which it is taken. Perhaps it might be better to replace pyridoxine by pyridoxal or pyridoxal-phosphate as vitamin B6 supplements, which are much less toxic. In this way, the vitamin B6 paradox may potentially be prevented."
      From another research paper:
The B6 metabolites stays in the body for a number of days. So if you take a high dose daily, it can accumulate. One research paper recommended to take 100 mg once a week to avoid that accumulation.
In conclusion. I don't think pyrodoxin and P5P are the same. Don't take the pyrodoxin form, which is used in most multivitamins! With that form you can get toxicity at the dose of B6 you require!
And don't overdose on P5P either. And you don't need it daily.

Understand that most of the vitamins in the supplement industry are synthetic vitamins, often made from toxic compounds, and that's where the side effects and toxicity are. The synthetic form of B6 is particularly awful.
The rule of thumb is do some research. Understand what the body actually uses, and what's natural, and don't buy any cheap supplement labeled something. These companies ought to face charges for synthetic B6, pyridoxine hydrochloride (HCl).
