Finally, we see a vitamin D study where enough vitamin D3 was given to make a healthy difference and show no adverse effects. I am 76 years old and I have been doing a D3 study on myself for the past 10 years. I am a white male. I am 6' 2" tall and when I started this study in 2013, I weighed approximately 257 lbs and my vitamin D level was 14 ng/ml. I took 50,000 iu of D3 daily for 3 weeks to raise my D level and then cut back to 20,000 or 30,000 iu a day. I felt much better almost immediately. After a few months my D level tested in the 70s. I continued to take the 20K to 30k iu daily thereafter and I felt fantastic. A few years later, I learned the importance of taking vitamin K2 and magnesium with the D3 and I continued with that daily. Here are some of the health issues I had for decades before starting this study: chronic back pain, chronic depression, chronic fatigue, brain fog, very frequent infections of the ear, nose, throat, and lungs, joint pain with arthritis, fever blisters, numbness in the soles of my feet, ringing in my ears, and etc. And, I was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma in 2009. I was given 3 rounds of chemo between 2009 and 2013. My hematologist at the time never mentioned my low vitamin D status during this time even though it was on all of my lab reports. In fact, he repeatedly told me that there was nothing that I could do on my own to fight the lymphoma. He gave me about five years to live. Thank God I did not believe him and started researching lymphoma on my own. So, after 10 years of this self study and keeping my vitamin D level in the 110 to 150+ ng/ml range, here are the results: ALL of my previous health issues have disappeared and I feel healthier and stronger than I did when I was 50 years old. In the past 10 years, I have had only two mild colds and one very mild case of Covid. I see a different hematologist now, but there have been no signs or symptoms of lymphoma in the past 3 years.

I was diagnosed 15 years ago, stage 3 ovarian cancer. My vitamin D level at that time was 6. I was fortunate to have a naturopath oncologist who immediately put me on 50,000 iu vitamin D until my level went up to 50 range. Then I went to 10,000 vitamin D daily after that. I have faithfully taken at least 5,000 iu of Vitamin D for all these years. I do have a genetic disposition to hold on to calcium so my calcium levels did go above the 11 range. But I'm doing well, I'm active, I'm alive! Thank you, Dr. Campbell for sharing this important information!

I would like to learn more about the calcium issue. I started taking high doses of Vit D (with K2, per Dr. Campbell's recommendation), but still got very high calcium. My primary care blew it off & told me to stop overdosing myself, the nurse told me to stop eating so much dairy. (Which I don't eat ANY except occasional cottage cheese because I don't like dairy.) So now I've gone off the Vit D until I know what on earth to do. I don't think anyone in the US gives a crap about Vit D.

Make sure it's Vitamin D3, not D2 which is synthetic and man-made. And make sure you take D3 with K2, or MK7. It directs the D3 to the bone and tissues, and away from the bloodstream. D3 is actually NOT a vitamin, it's a pro-hormone. It is an immune system modulator, not a stimulant or antagonist. It actually acts like a natural cortisone in the body, helping with daily aches and pains, and awesome 👍 for arthritis and other pain related syndromes. Just 15 minutes a day spent in the sun ☀️, in the early day in early afternoon, is a good way to get your daily D3. And of course, especially in the colder months, we need to supplement additionally.....🌞

It's also important to realize that insulin resistance can stamp down your vit D levels. That makes it hard to get enough no matter what you take. Fortunately, some fasting can immediately reduce this problem and also has amazing effects for the whole immune system with up to 1/3 of all white blood cells regenerated after a single fast. Some of the many benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting. Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time.
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy.
Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers, but some patients may need continued acid reducation medication while fasting.
Telomeres are lengthened and fasting also increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors.
Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system in a similar way to CBD oil.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria, plaques and viruses by the immune system. It will also remove any 'foreign material' that is not supposed to be there.
Reflexes and short term memory are increased.
Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release!
After 72 hours or more fasted, your body recycles as much as 1/3 of all immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire immune system.
Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures.
Thymus is regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. The thymus also plays a vital role in fighting cancer.
Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue! The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting.
Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus.
When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state.
What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast, though if the amount is tiny you will go back into ketosis very quickly. Most teas and herbs are OK. Most supplements and meds will either break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting.
Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility, especially in women with PCOS.
The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again!
Does the body preferentially prefer glucose as a fuel? No, except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns fats in the form of free fatty acids. Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose.
Fasting stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses.
Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn carbohydrate, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with.
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention!
When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, which destroys them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer.
Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth. This can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
In fact, the biochemical regulator of BDNF production is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is the same ketone the body produces to nourish the brain while fasting.
Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level.
A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia.
Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. Those with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast without liberal use of exogenous ketones, depending on severity. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness then simply break the fast and seek advice.

Be careful, when I was looking up Vitamin D toxicity for someone who I was friendly with, it mentioned high doses(such as the amount you're taking) will cause kidney damage.
She ended up going for Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease, to Renal Failure and had to be on Dialysis, all within a few months. It was super sad to see.
The Sun provides so much Vitamin D to the skin, provided you aren't wearing sunglasses which hurt people. Also, no sunscreen, that's poison and stops absorption of Vitamin D. Drink fresh milk from a local grass-fed farm.
      all the best.

Thank you for this video!!!!! I have been struggling with vitamin D deficiency since I had open-heart surgery quite a few years ago. When I finally discovered that this deficiency was a source of many of my post-surgery health struggles I began taking 4000IU per day. I shared my findings with my GP and all he could say was “be careful with such a high dose like that! You might get liver damage.” However, if I dropped below 4000IU per day, I would have massive hair loss, indicating I was deficient. I did my own searching of scientific journals to find that the dose I was taking was safe long term. I still struggle every winter to keep my vitamin D levels up and I’m always worried about the dosage. Your video has given me renewed confidence in my vitamin D dosage. I even feel like I will probably benefit from an increased dose. How is your daughter's MS symptoms? Long story, but 9 years after I was diagnosed with MS in '04, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in '13 and ended up with a stoma bag as a result and it was at this time that doctors noted I had low vitamin D and was prescribed 800iu D3 a day. I also take my own 6000iu of D3 a day as well as what's prescribed as my research showed 800 was too low and now what little MS symptoms I had for the 9 years before the ulcerative colitis has almost disappeared. I honestly believe if the low vit. D had been addressed I could have avoided the MS as well as the ulcerative colitis and saved the NHS big money on 4 bowel operations and the management of my condition. I must say my MS was mild and hadn't progressed during the 9 years before I knew of the D3 benefits. Keep taking the D3.

Fasting helps a great deal with MS and other autoimmune issues. It will also help raise vit D levels by lowering insulin and allowing the vit D to come out of the fat cells. Some of the many benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting.
      Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time.
      Fasting increases nitric oxide release.
Fasting restores NAD+ to healthy levels.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.

In 1970 a veterinary surgeon instructed me to take Vit d3 because I suffered chest problems. Always sniffing, coughing and asthma. He said animals fed D3 in their diet did well and also through newly born animals the first colostrum protectected them from all manner of diseases. On his recommendation, for 53 years my wife and I have taken about 10ml per day-365 per year, and, bingo, I’m 85 years old, my wife almost 82, and we’re still alive and kicking! Right on, John. I suffered with terrible canker sores all my life until I started taking 7,000 mg Vit. D per day about 20 years ago. I spent all childhood summers in the sun in New England and yet, I contracted every childhood disease possible, including several colds a year. I also contracted Polio from the inoculation.
Now I use canker sores as a barometer of my immune system function. If I start to feel one developing, I immediately add an additional 2,000-5,000 mg until I have complete healing. It has worked every time. Also I have had just one cold and one mild case of Covid in five years. My Vit. D. blood test consistently shows a reading of 79. I am almost 82 years old and all my blood work is consistently right in target range. BP is 115/70. After seeing your excellent vids. on Vit. D, I am increasing my intake an additional 5,000 per day as insurance, so I do not have to let cankers be my barometer. I also take K2 and Lithium that is a part of my 5,000 morning dose. I found the same thing. I have to get my vitD blood tested privately in Canada, as the healthcare system won't test unless deficiency is serious enough to create clear symptoms. The official recommended daily dose (as for any nutrient) is not the health-promoting amount, it is always based on the minimum amount needed to avoid disease. So the vitD RDA was designed to be just enough to avoid rickets, which is a fairly low dose. There are some nutrients which can accumulate if taken too much, but those are not common.

In 2006 I had my vitamin D level checked. It was 10. (low normal for the lab was 30). Needless to say, I was started on 50,000 unit vitamin D. Now on 5,000 units per day, my level is all least around 50. I FEEL much better and suspect that the vitamin D has helped my seasonal affective disorder/depression and overall health. My grandmother died from colon cancer so I hope that along with 4 colonoscopies, improved diet, and lifestyle modifications my cancer risk is lower. My wife suffered from psoriasis. I suggested that she get her vitamin D level checked as my dad was treated with PUVA in the 1980's for his psoriasis. A nurse fried of hers suggested that she get her vitamin D level checked and, thank goodness she listened to her RN friend. My wife's vitamin D level was 7!!! After 6 months of 50,000 unit vitamin D her psoriasis has cleared and been in remission for a number of YEARS. Thank you for your work improving health through education. This underlines the real difference everyone should understand between a medical doctor and a doctor of nursing - nursing concentrates more on immediate issues and solutions, whereas medical doctors are trained better in all related body systems and how to chase the underlying causes to address those, where possible. This makes medical doctors tend to move more slowly and carefully. Sometimes that is important; sometimes it is detrimental. It depends on our need.
Good nurses are super important for the world to have, and Dr. Campbell is the perfect example as to why - when we need more immediate, quickly evolving care/solutions (as in 2020-2023), well-trained nurses like Dr. Campbell can pull us through all of that much more safely than 99% of medical doctors, who will stumble on their oaths and deeper thinking.
Taking high doses of ANYthing in order to "plug a hole" is not a real long-term solution. We all know what a medical doctor would aim at, first and foremost - lifestyle changes where possible (e.g., diet, exercise, stop smoking, drinking, etc.) That is because these machines we're inside of have an uncanny ability to regulate themselves, given half-a-chance, and do not normally require such drastic, quick solutions.

Just discovered your channel, but I started taking 10,000 IUs of D3 daily about 4 or 5 months ago now. The biggest thing I've noticed so far is that I get tired and fall asleep so much faster once I lay down in bed. I never really had issues getting enough sleep, but it was easy for me to stay up very late at night and sleep long into the day. Now when I lay down at a normal bedtime I actually want to sleep.
Just something else that's interesting, this study mentions psoriasis, an inflammatory hereditary skin disease. I have had keratosis pilaris, another inflammatory skin condition thought to be hereditary, on my arms and legs my whole life as far as I know. It always used to look a lot better in the summer when I spent a lot of time playing outside. Nowadays I sit in an office all day, but I've noticed my KP seems to be slowly getting better since starting the D3. Somehow I don't think that's a coincidence.

10.000 IU is alot could cause toxicity and adverse outcomes especially over long period. generally 4000 IU is considered safe upper limit and thats PLENTY for most people and too much for some. if you are slim 2000 IU seems to be enough to get all the benefits. If you are overweight you might need a bit more like 3000 IU to 4000 IU at most.

Another thing that has a big effect on the immune system is a small amount of extended fasting. This will also reduce insulin resistance which keeps your vit D from being locked up in your fat cells!
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.

A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs.

In the U.S. my son had a test of Hydroxy D25 level of 15 where it needs to be bought up to at least 100. The dosage is one 50,000 mg vitamin D once a week!!! Why only once a week? I'm not sure why he can't take it daily? Also, the pill bottle has only 12 pills in it at once a week = only for 3 months. I don't think they really want to help people with such a low dosage for such a short time. I don't understand this.

I listen to him again to keep up to date with what he's willing to broadcast to his large YT audience - not to keep abreast of the literature or take advice. Years ago in the Pacific Northwest, my level was 17. It took 4 months of taking 50,000 units a week (so about 7000 units a day) for it to come up to barely “normal” 32 ng/ml. I now take 5000 units a day and my level has been in the 60-70 ng/ml range for years. I think I’ll increase it to 10,000 units a day and see if my health continues to improve. I suffer from psoriasis. I have plaques on my legs, arms, torso - I've got quite a bit and it's hard to live with. I remember receiving high doses of Vitamin D in the early 2000's to help . It really worked. I was taking high levels of D3 for a few years. Around about 2008 they (NHS) stopped prescribing it to me, and instead offered me a number of different lotions and potions. It wasn't until the pandemic that I realised how important it is for us and in particular my own health and skin. I now take 8000 IU - but not daily. I will now. Thanks doc.

A number I've seen from multiple sources is 30ng/ml, which by your calculation should correspond to around 3,000IU for a 70kg man. That equates to one 75 microgram 'super strength' tablet per day. It's also important to realize that if you have insulin resistance your D will wind up locked up in your fat cells and unusable, making it hard to get the levels up!
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy.
Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers, but some patients may need continued acid reducation medication while fasting.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.

I’ve been taking 5000-10,000 IU of D for years, and most of my patients are on this dose as well. I phage never seen a single case of D toxicity. Important to take vitamin K2 with D3; D3 helps absorb calcium but K2 helps puts that calcium into your bones so it doesn’t end up calcifying your arteries

When I was looking up Vitamin D toxicity for someone who I was friendly with, it mentioned high doses(10,000 UI+) will cause kidney damage.
She was taking 10,000 UI at a time, I think daily, and ended up going for Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease, to Renal Failure and had to be on Dialysis, all within a few months. It was super sad to see.
The Sun provides so much Vitamin D to the skin, provided you aren't wearing sunglasses which hurt people. Also, no sunscreen, that's poison and stops absorption of Vitamin D. Fresh Milk from a local farm, made from Grass-fed cattle(or properly fed other animals) is also a great source of Vitamin D. Fresh Milk also has calcium and Vitamin K2.

I think the reason why it took so long for those patients to reach a plateau was because vitamin D deficiency causes Crohns and Celiac disease, which slows down Vitamin D absorption through the colon. Vitamin D is converted in the Liver as 25-hydroxyvitamin D which is then transformed into an active vitamin in the Kidneys. From there it is used to regulate hormones, as well as assist the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus which, if left to become a dangerous deficiency, starts to leech them from the bones (osteomalacia and osteoporosis), causing bone growth disorders and skeletal deformations in children and adults. The more severe, the more likely kidney disease will occur, and cardiovascular disease from the lack of the Vitamin in the blood. Also asthmatic diseases, high blood pressure, muscle weakness, bone pain, intracellular disorders, and the failure to promote blood cells which alleviate inflammation during illness, viral infection etc etc are all contributory. Long term Vitamin D deficiency leads to cancers: pancreatic and breast cancer, colon, ovarian, uterine, stomach, kidney, prostate, oesophagus etc.
The regulated daily is 7000ui to 10000ui, and as described, massive overdoses need to be taken to raise the deficiency out of danger until it reaches normal levels.
This Vitamin D fallacy of low dose RDA by the medical profession is no accident. With so many physiological and biological, as well as psychological causations resulting from a lack of Vitamin D and how many are clearly dangerously deficient with its own epidemic of chronic diseases and untimely deaths from cancer cursing mankind, the most prolific drugs with the highest price tags and widespread marketing delivery to treat everything attributed to Vitamin D deficiency as well as C deficiency and Zinc, they've known all along what the right doses are but with people falling sick every 5 minutes from the same ailments and diseases, the profits for drug sales are enormous and none so globally profound in its unscrupulous and evil criminality over human health and human life than the last 3 years. They have done the same with Vitamin C and Zinc for years, with it requiring 14mg per 1kg as a normal daily dosage or for normal RDA 1000mg for men and 950mg for women with extra taken for strenuous work or if pregnant, and again, more must be taken to raise the deficiency back to normal levels. Zinc, another vital nutrient which aids other nutrients works very much together with Vitamin D and C etc. is also lower than what should be taken. If bone issues are contributing to the Vitamin D deficiency, both D and Calcium should be taken together.
It should also be known, that wearing sunscreen stops the absorption of Vitamin D. People need to absorb around 15-25 minutes each day to receive a good amount. Those with dark pigments cannot absorb the same as lighter skin pigments so they will require more time in the sun, and possibly supplemented with food and/or vitamin but never on their own. UVB sunlight is absolutely imperative.

I can't speak to the UK recommended doses, but here in the USA our daily recommended doses of a given vitamin were, as I recall, determined not by the amount required for optimal health, but for the point where overt symptoms of a major disease were apparent. For example, the RDA for Vitamin C was set to the level below which Scurvy was likely to appear. Quite a difference from optimal Vitamin C levels recommended by Linus Pauling et al.

Always love the Vit D3 updates, think my friends are fed up about hearing (especially those conspiracy theorist ones who bang on about experimental drugs being safe) me go on about it. What I've found really interesting with this one, is that I have psoriasis and have been on a low carb-high fat lifestylem for a few years (grains don't agree with me) and my psoriasis flare ups aren't as bad, I also have the related arthritis, and didn't for one minute put the link with D3 levels. I know the benefit and fucntion of cholesterol (look at the money made keeping that lowered) and currently take 10,000 iU D3 with K2 daily, listening to this, due to my bodies requirement, I may need more......Thankfully i have a test next month, so it will be interesting to see what my actual numbers are.

I am so grateful to have more information from Dr. Campbell on Vitamin D3. I was at a deficient level of 32 ng/ml last year in April 2022. I suffered from polymyalgia rheumatica. I could not walk, inflammation of the joints, muscles, and nerves. I felt crippled with the achiness of my whole body. Besides that, I suffered from GCA which damaged my eye nerves. I had double vision and almost lost my right vision. The ER doctor prescribed 60 mg of Prednisone which helped to lower the inflammation. The side effects of insomnia bothered me so much that I asked to taper the dose. I got a lead about prednisone and vitamin D3. I decided to experiment on myself by taking D3 immediately at 15000 IUs and up to 30000 IUs/day. Walking in the sun when IUV is at 7-8 for 1 hour every day. By November 2022, the blood test showed a high level of D: 147ng/ml. I was warned of toxicity. The good side was my pain disappeared with the nutrition of plenty of legumes and fish along with Omega-3, D-3, K2, Magnesium, Zinc, B-12, A, E, Iron, Potassium, B-1, and Calcium.
I conclude that D3 contributes an important factor to health. I have observed how the reaction of D toxicity. I have not seen anything yet, ie Kidney stones, weakness... I have lowered my dose to reach an optimal level by my next blood test which is 70-90 ng/ml. I hope with the information from Dr. Campbell and my testimony will help others have peace of mind about this God-given Vitamin D3, especially with the IUV of the sun. ruclips.net/video/EP81YMvs4yI/видео.html
