    I have found doctors, including functional doctors to be incompetent. In fact I’ve proved it several times with facts, and they don’t like it. Serum blood tests are not very good, for instance my doctor tested my serum thiamine and it was high. However I have a thiamine deficiency. The doctor didn’t tell me I had a thiamine deficiency that was my own trials and observations. I will try to explain why serum tests for these nutrients etc are worthless. Let’s say your car won’t start, you check the battery, plenty of power, and fuel tank, the tank is full, but it still won’t start, it doesn’t make sense, it’s behaving like it’s a fuel deficiency but testing the amount of fuel in the tank shows it’s not deficient…. But here comes some common sense that bypasses doctors minds, there’s a blockage in the fuel line, or the fuel pump is faulty. Similarly having plenty or even too much of a nutrient doesn’t mean your body is actually using them. This is where metabolites can indicate what is actually being utilised. Please medical professionals, grow some intelligence…. people actually think doctors are there to help them.

      It's not so much a need, but a benefit. There's no evidence that it speeds up your metabolism, but it certainly can be great for limiting cravings, providing a more even blood glucose level and impacts mood for some people. If you're not a snacker, then just adding the piece of fruit or nuts etc recommended to meals is good nutritionally.

I don't pretend to understand but I use B6 P5P at 50 mg. and am concerned .Who's right and who's wrong. Everyone seems to agree that in the more well known form of B6 ,which like your guest is in B Complex ,it is not particularily good at doses as you say as high as 50 mg daily .I really don't know what to do and please don't ask me to ask my Doctor,who had no idea about the differences . "Adverse effects of high vitamin B6 intakes have been observed at intakes above 50 mg/d consumed for prolonged periods of months to years. Symptoms include minor neurological symptoms and, at higher levels of 500 mg/d or more, neurotoxicity. The EU Scientific Committee on Food concluded in 2000 and 2012 that adverse effects are unlikely to occur at doses below 100 mg/d and proposed an upper safe intake level (UL) for adults of 25 mg/d" That UL is set for Pyridoxin HCL, which you shouldn't take in high doses. It's the common form in most supplements. The P5P form is very much less toxic, and It's very unlikely to get any toxicity from 25 mg/d of P5P.. A dose of 100 mg once a week gives you the optimal serum level, at no risk for toxicity, unless you have an unusual problem. The reason for once a week is that the metabolites stays in the body for some time, and you don't want them to accumulate. They will flush during the week if you have taken more than you should, so they sually doesn't accumulate. However, there are genetic defects which makes you accumulate B6 metabolites even without supplements, with very little intake from food. If so, it's pretty much unavoidable to be diagnosed with high serum levels. Your doctor has to try to handle that, because you actually need your B6. Getting toxicity at deficient levels in no fun! Folate, B6, and B12 work together. Look for methylated forms of multivitamins.

    Pyridoxine HCL vs Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P) According to the studies I've seen, Pyridoxine HCL is an issue when: 1) one takes >200mg/day - some set the limit @ >1000mg/day 2) over months if not years 3) I've read a peer reviewed paper1, which explained why Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P) doesn’t cause harmful side effects/B6-toxicity like Pyridoxine HCL does. I've also watched medical videos, some of which were talks at medical institutes or schools, which said the same. Interestingly, all commecially available preparations for neuropathy pain which include B6, ONLY do so in the Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P) form. None do so as Pyridoxine HCL. 4) The value of Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P) has been shown by dozens of studies, that those who already have neuropathy experience reduced neuropathic discomfort with therapeutic dosages of Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P). Vrolijk MF, Opperhuizen A, Jansen EHJM, Hageman GJ, Bast A, Haenen GRMM. (2017) The vitamin B6 paradox: Supplementation with high concentrations of pyridoxine leads to decreased vitamin B6 function. Toxicol In Vitro. 2017 Oct;44:206-212. doi: 10.1016/j.tiv.2017.07.009. Epub 2017 Jul 14. PMID: 28716455. „In conclusion, the present study strongly indicates that the neuropathy observed after taking a relatively high dose of vitamin B6 supplements is due to the vitamer that is used in the supplements, namely pyridoxine. The inactive form pyridoxine competitively inhibits the active pyridoxal-phosphate. As a consequence, the paradox arises that the symptoms of vitamin B6 supplementation are similar to those of vitamin B6 deficiency. Vitamin B6 supplements are used by a large number of people. The safety of vitamin B6 is debated and recently EFSA has lowered the upper limit for vitamin B6. The question is whether lowering the safe dose for vitamin B6 is the solution. Remarkably, even at relatively low dose, vitamin B6 supplementation has given rise to complaints. Our study indicates that the toxicity of vitamin B6 is not only determined by the dose, but by the vitamer in which it is taken. Perhaps it might be better to replace pyridoxine by pyridoxal or pyridoxal-phosphate as vitamin B6 supplements, which are much less toxic. In this way, the vitamin B6 paradox may potentially be prevented.“

    • @carokat1111
      @carokat1111 8 месяцев назад

      Both B6 deficiency and B6 excess cause the neuropathy in your feet. Need to change your diet to add more B6 foods.

  • @pramuanchutham7355
    @pramuanchutham7355 11 месяцев назад

    Tingling in the feet could be due to B1 and B12 deficiencies. At advanced age, Pernicious Anemia can result from inability to make 'intrinsic factor' that absorps B12 from food in the stomach. A sublingual 1-5,000 mcg is a good solution. Fat-soluble Benfotiamine B1 absorbs 5-8 times better than Thiamine mononitrate/HCl and crosses the blood-brain-barrier and myelin sheath. P-5-P B6 is safe upto 7 grams, according to Nerve Doctor Dr Valerie Monteiro

    • @pramuanchutham7355
      @pramuanchutham7355 11 месяцев назад

      Cyanocobalamin B12 is also toxic to the cells, as it releases cyanide-group during conversion to the active Methylcobalamine. Folic Acid B9 can also be toxic for those without MTHFR- genes to convert it to active methylfolate. Residues can cause kidney-stones and even cancer. Most people opt for cheap, toxic-component Multivitamins since respectable brands are way overpriced. Try Life Extension two-per-day multis.

I literally thought i was dying... cardiac symptoms, arrhythmia, stroke-like symptoms, neuropathy, severe sleep disturbance, bruxism, hyperreflexia, severe fatigue, etc. I stopped all synthetic Bs 6 months ago and started eating healthy, eating mostly meat and veggies and taking beef liver supplements. I finally began feeling better, but still had some tingling and bruxism, but it not nearly as bad. I was finally healing... but then had my B6 rechecked, and was shocked to find it is even higher than it was before when i felt my worst. If i back off the beef liver i start to feel horrible again, so i tend to agree with the theory that some of us who are toxic are actually deficienct at the cellular level. Our bodies cannot effectively convert the b6 into its usable form so it accumulates in the blood. I also believe the worst symptoms were due to the synthetic B in my body. I also discovered i have an MTHFR gene mutation as well as a mutation that keeps me from properly absorbing B6. I also have hashimotos and found that many others with B6 toxicity also have it. I'm 45 and also going thru perimenopause. There may be a perfect storm for some of us of gene mutations and uncontrolled inflammation (which could be caused by any variety of things). My current course of action is to address the inflammation caused by hashimoto's and see where that leads. I just can't believe our Healthcare professionals have NO IDEA about any of this. It's been an absolute nightmare. I hope science catches up soon.

      Souns like you have another gene mutation, hypophosphatasia, or HPP. You can get gene tested but if your alkaline phosphatase is low, as indicated in your typical CMP bloodwork, you have it.

      As some research sites claim, the in active form of B6 called Pyridoxine is usually in plant based food. The active B6 form is in animal based proteins. That may be why you feel better after consuming beef liver. There is an active form of B6 in the market called P5P tablets and liquids. Since you are in the UK, there is a metabolic unit at St. Thomas Hospital in London that does the blood test of P5P. It is called the nutristatis unit if you wish to google it. If you do decide to take P5P supplements then begin on a low dose and don’t do this high dosage stuff. Low dosage means 2.5 mg to 10 mg daily. I would begin at 2.5 and see if the brand you are taking is okay with your digestive system. Begin gradually and see where it takes you. Your blood test should cover, P5P, Active B12 , Homocysteine. I believe this lab performs them all. I hope this helps.

    I'm having a hard time following this. You're not delineating the difference between synthetic B6 pyridoxine hydrochloride, which is toxic, and natural B6 pyridoxal 5' phosphate. Understand that most of the vitamins in the supplement industry are synthetic vitamins, often made from toxic compounds, and that's where the side effects and toxicity are. The synthetic form of B6 is particularly awful. The rule of thumb is do some research. Understand what the body actually uses, and what's natural, and don't buy any cheap supplement labeled something. These companies ought to face charges for synthetic B6, pyridoxine hydrochloride (HCl). 🪷🙏

      Why do THEY make this hard? HCL is synthetic! Cheap to put in supplements PERIOD. P-5-P Is NATURAL. The body RRCOGNIZES natural. Don't ask a doctor... the are too restricted, drug and medicine are driven by greed/money. Chiropractors, Naturepaths, some in HEALTHCARE. NOT medicine. Good luck. Unfortunately they can both be toxic, though it may be through different means. I took 200mg P5P total over a few days and now I have paresthesias. This is bad. I've been told it is the aldehyde toxicity which is the problem because some people can't detox that well due to a blocked metabolic pathway from immune / infection.

    What type of vitamin B6 did your patient Jane take? You didn't mention that. Was it pyridoxal 5-phosphate or pyridoxine HCL? I heard the latter is harmful like you said. But allegedly P5P can be taken safely in high doses. Is that true?

    • @MrApplewine
      @MrApplewine Год назад

      P5P can also cause issues. It may be a different method though. The bottom line is that if you have disrupted aldehyde detoxification then if you take B6 or even vitamin A I think, then you could get toxicity. I just took 4 capsules of 50mg P5P and now a few days later I have paresthesias all over my body. I never thought it could happen so fast. If there was a way to test for that then you would know if it was safe to take B6.

      From the research paper: "The vitamin B6 paradox: Supplementation with high concentrations of pyridoxine leads to decreased vitamin B6 function" "In conclusion, the present study strongly indicates that the neuropathy observed after taking a relatively high dose of vitamin B6 supplements is due to the vitamer that is used in the supplements, namely pyridoxine. In this way, the vitamin B6 paradox may potentially be prevented." From another research paper: The B6 metabolites stays in the body for a number of days. So if you take a high dose daily, it can accumulate. One research paper recommended to take 100 mg once a week to avoid that accumulation. In conclusion. I don't think pyrodoxin and P5P are the same. Don't take the pyrodoxin form, which is used in most multivitamins! With that form you can get toxicity at the dose of B6 you require! And don't overdose on P5P either. And you don't need it daily.
