Not to mention it's the only foreign object about him that didn't he didn't already have with him like his shoes. Plus there's the actual intent of the shark fin. The hair representing the power is a pretty common thing at this point. But I think it's gonna be like what the fin was to demi.
His original concept was a literal "digital demon" which got scrapped partway through for a more "organic" look. Thats probably why nahobino seems more techno despite being similar to demi. They're going full digital this time.
All I know is that, whatever his design was supposed to be, he was supposed to be nude, but obviously couldn't be. I recall an interview or something to that effect.
SMT 1 protag's design that IMO suits really really well in the context of its own story. His equipment and armor looks rather improvised, which makes sense if you live in a post-apocalyptic word. And I like the cyberpunk aesthetic of this protag. Also, the demonica might be one of the most memorable powersuits in videogames. Maybe is the combination of colors for the suit that makes it look slick af, maybe is the odd and kinda goofy headgear that looks like a bucket, or maybe is the "out of this world" or "extraterrestrial" vibe that the whole suit gives. God I love that suit.
I'd say Demonica suit is as unique as Demi-Fiend design. Demi-Fiend is like a COMP himself btw you know, look at his "demon marks", look at his "lump from the nape". He's like a chip, with all those glowing circuits and an antenna on his nape that seems to work as the transmitter to summon demons. Although my favorite ones are Flynn, because he really looks like a "Demon Master", and Hero, from Shin Megami Tensei I, bc that idea of a geek turning into a survival fighter. Both are more like "normal human" that can summon demons than something super special so I think that's why I love them more. All of them has its own charm tho. I love SMT protagonists designs. I really like the SMT 1 dudes look. Dunno why but the idea of having the savior of the world just decked out casually instead of looking all badass, flamboyant, or like being super eye catching. Makes em cooler to me
I gotta be real. As much as the tats and the hair set up Demi-fiend as a total badass, his little shorts and the dorky blue sneakers utterly crush any pretense of badassery he might’ve had in my eves. Like, these clothes belong on a kid who desperately tries to hang out with older kids by smoking cigarets and swearing, but still comes running whenever mom calls his full name in an angry tone.
Design-wise, Space Marine. No questions asked. He's an actual trained military soldier exploring a series of extradimensional anomalies and he looks like a mix between Doom Slayer, an Ultraman and someone's Stand. Which, to be fair, Strange Journey and Bizarre Adventure mean the same thing.
I can back up this confirmation that is the katakana for "Jesus Armor" and shiki (Style). HOWEVER, this is interesting because in actual Japanese Christianity. Jesus is called イエス (Iesu) from the Latin.
All of them are amazing, when I started playing Nocturne, which was my first SMT game, I wasn't that big of a fan of his design, but it GREW on me, a lot, he's such a Giga Chad that was unwillingly transformed into a half-human, half-demon and he takes it in stride and fully embraces his power. Nanashi was the one I liked the least, but when you pointed out the lyrics to John Lennon's "Imagine" in his jumpsuit, I was sold, he fits right in with the punk spirit of SMT.
The Demonica is way more unique in terms of design than anything else imo. Even compare to SMT5 protag, i think it's unique in a sense that it isn't just some bishounen guy having cool power, but it's just a normal soilder in a power suit. Probably biased because I love Halo, but yeah
Although I have not played Nocturne yet I have to admit Demifiend has my favorite design, but I also really like Flynn, he has a very mature vibe compared to the other protagonist.
I don't think most people realize this, but the 5 protags human form, and to a lesser degree nahobino form, is supposed to be both masculine and feminine, real quick look at the picture of them and cover half of them with your finger. The left half looks more like a female, and the right half looks more like a male, this same "dualism" is visible on the bodysuit too with the light blue and white being mostly on opposite sides. Given that nocturne was somewhat connected to buddhist stuff with samsara and such, I expect V to be somewhat connected to Taoist stuff with lots of dualism.
As much as I love the nahobino design, it makes me wonder about a couple features. Since he uses a generic energy sword, will he be able to upgrade his weapon? It already looks like there won’t be guns since there wasn’t a shoot weakness for enemies in clips I’ve seen. Also, SMTIV set a standard for a customizable appearance, and the nahobino form doesn’t look customizable to me. Either way, I’ll take femme-fiend any day
by far my favorite design is SMT 1 protagonist. Just like you said, there is something to his design that just clicks with me WAY more than the other designs. And this is just from his Pre-Cataclysm design! Post-Cataclysm just looks phenominal! I love the green, black, and white mixture and, again like you said, the old-school cyber-like armor just looks great! Aleph is probably my second favorite design because...c'mon, it's rad as hell. ESPECIALLY the bright yellow and purple goggles. And my least favorite is EASILY Nanashi. My GOD his design just screams "Look i'm edgy!". It's like they didn't even try with this design, and the new artist just makes Nanashi and almost every other character in Apocalypse look so "chibi-like" to me. It just looks wrong for a series like SMT.
SMT 5 protagonist looks unique in a way that his right side has shorter hair making him boy-ish, while his left side has a bit longer and wavy hair, making him look girl-ish.
I have these Old Doctor Who VHS tapes and the Cybermen, one of the most recongisable enteties from that series seemed to be inspiration for the Demonica. It always reminded me of them.
I really enjoyed this, I’ve always liked the smt protag designs over the persona ones. maybe for a future video you could do the spin offs as well, like devil summoner, devil survivor, etc.
Flynn's def my favorite, the samurai outfit is one of the coolest things i've ever seen in gaming and his hairstyle is also pretty nice, if Devil Summoner was in this video Raidou would be a close runner up tho

Nahobino: ARAMASA! *fucking Whirlwind Blades*
i cant believe that smt is finally mainstream wtf. i remember a time when smt used to be considered an obscure series.
We've come a long way :)
All we needed was for Nocturne to come back and some SMTV news....who knew
*glares sideways at Atlus for taking so long*
@@mbrillon765 better late than never
It isn't really mainstream tbh, it's still pretty niche, bt i have a feeling after the game drops it might become mainstream.
@@mbrillon765 No glaring, did you want a rushed product?
No?
Cus ATLUS had never worked with Unreal Engine before, if V came out earlier a glitchy, buggy SMT game is what you would've gotten.
So cease your glaring.
Game development takes time, y'know.
Just an FYI, Aleph is pronounced with the stress on the first syllable. Everyone is named after Hebrew letters in SMT2.
me: *gets a job*
*sees that fither has a merch store*
me: "give money i should"
I really like the SMT 1 dudes look. Dunno why but the idea of having the savior of the world just decked out casually instead of looking all badass, flamboyant, or like being super eye catching. Makes em cooler to me
It took me this long to fully process the demi-fiend is actually wearing pants.
"no devil survivor"
damnit, i was hoping he'd talking about hibiki's design, its my fav
Love me some Bunny boy.
Whenever I see the Devil Survivor 1 Protagonist, I always just see Laharl from Disgaea.
No dee dee es
Flynn is the coolest design. Nothing beats a samurai with a chad ponytail.
Facts
And what about raidou?
Chad Flynn vs Virgin Nanashi
@@clevert.
The definition of handsome.
I can acclaim to that
Shout out to SMT5 Protag
Gotta be one of my favorite genders
I always thought the demonica helmet was weird but now that you point out the smiley face I love it
Also I like the smtV protag’s hair is neat
That's bizarre, i was literally thinking it would be cool if you made this exact video yesterday
the protagonist of Vs haircut grew on me tbh, its definitely weird but it just works, especially in nahobino form. also the school uniform is 10/10
The Demi-Fiend is my favorite.
Nahobino's human hair reminds me of Lain Iwakura's hair, but not as long so it doesn't really strike me THAT much.
I love how cool SMT and Persona make their school uniforms.
I’m pretty sure the SMT V protag hits fither’s goku black buttons
Energy sword
Neon colors
Dark costume
my favorite shin megami tensei protagonist has got to be
jack frost
Nanashi is probably my favorite. The jumpsuit is pretty slick.
Flynn. His face looks so likeable for a heroic figure.
The Demons are his Stands
He really looks like a military-themed tokusatsu character
I can back up this confirmation that is the katakana for "Jesus Armor" and shiki (Style).
HOWEVER, this is interesting because in actual Japanese Christianity. Jesus is called イエス (Iesu) from the Latin.
Nanashi design kinda reminds me of Kaneda. I mean,it does look like biker's 90s anime clothing.
I find that funny because I’ve recently watched Akira today and I can see that.
6:10 yes, oh god I’ve always seen a smile here and it’s good to know that I’m not alone
I know I'm late, but dude, you got me. The second I saw that Nahobino shirt, I went and bought one. That's freaking awesome!
I agree with you on SMT V's hair, except that it somehow looks infinitely better in his Nahobino form
Demifiend will always have the best Design in my book. There is just something awesome about a kid with tattoos Killing gods with his bare hands.
Why does the Strange Journey Protag. look like he came out of Dead Space
50% Deadspace. 50% Bionicle. 100% awesome.
Strange Journey also has space demons.
6:10 and now i can’t unsee it thank you very much.
Yooo I literally just did a protagonist design tier list, this is epic 😳
I don't think most people realize this, but the 5 protags human form, and to a lesser degree nahobino form, is supposed to be both masculine and feminine, real quick look at the picture of them and cover half of them with your finger. The left half looks more like a female, and the right half looks more like a male, this same "dualism" is visible on the bodysuit too with the light blue and white being mostly on opposite sides.
Given that nocturne was somewhat connected to buddhist stuff with samsara and such, I expect V to be somewhat connected to Taoist stuff with lots of dualism.
No talking around it. the SMTV protag made me blush... really intense
yes a video about smt protagonist, amazing
Update to my comment on one of the
last few videos: I finally beat the warden twins after grinding the reaper to level 99 and making yoshitsune 👽
Congratulations, luck on Lavenza
@@Fermin-hw5pd i don’t have royal, and if i did, i wouldn’t even TRY that lmao
SMTV guy looks like Marth with long hair and a hockey mask
SMT1 protag just kind of looks like 'some dude' which is totally okay with me. At some point in our lives, we are all just 'some dude'
The one word I can use to describe the SMT 5 design would be *Giga-Twink* and I absolutely love it
SMT2 Dude...major Evangelion vibes.
damnit, i cant stop seeing the smiley face on the demonica because of you
When you review the spinoffs designs you better give respects to my boy raidou
Flynn's scrapped designs from the artbook are nicer than what they went with.
You gotta do another of these with the spin-off characters this was great! I’m curious what you think of serph
SMT 5 protagonist looks unique in a way that his right side has shorter hair making him boy-ish, while his left side has a bit longer and wavy hair, making him look girl-ish.
"Man this character....I want to *CONTROL* them!"
What I love about Demi-fiend's design is that his tribal tattoos resemble the circuits of a computer card.
9:09 can't believe he got us like that
I have these Old Doctor Who VHS tapes and the Cybermen, one of the most recongisable enteties from that series seemed to be inspiration for the Demonica.
