Imagine if the RE-released this album for its 30th anniversary with just Scott Travis on the drums updated....everything else 100% the same. That would be GREAT
I don't even mind the drum machine. It is what it is. The problem with Ram It Down is the cheesy filler stuff. Love Zone, Come And Get It, I'm A Rocker, Johnny B Goode, and Monsters of Rock are just so bland... Ram It Down, Heavy Metal, Hard As Iron, Blood Red Skies, and that track they cut out, Fire Burns Below, are amazing! They just didn't quite have enough good material for the full album. It needed more time...
@@CKT1138 This was clearly a response to the criticism of Turbo - justified criticism. When this album fires on all cylinders it's sublime but there's some definite filler. They were clearly clamouring for mainstream commercial appeal. After this we got, Painkiller. If the album were given more time to boil it would've been a masterpiece I'm sure.
Your video's are an absolute joy to watch. I'm a huge fan of Glenn Tipton and have been watching a ton of Priest video's since hearing of his diagnosis, which still feels surreal. He's been one of my biggest influences for such a long time. Watching you listen to this track for the first time, and to see your reactions to the absolutely insane guitar solo's (huge props to K K Downing too) has just put the biggest smile on my face. Totally made my day :) Have Subscribed. Looking forward to many more video's in the future. Have watched a couple of your other videos, and have to say that you're quite the killer guitar player, too. I wish you all the very best of luck with it.
wow thank you very much i really appreciate the kind words and im glad this video could make your day thats great news for me to hear ! i wont let ya down \m/
Hard as iron and come and get it,best two songs on album! Johnny B.Goode I always liked,it's slower than original with a shit load of guitars, when Priest remakes a song they make it their own way.
Don't forget when your checking out their back catalogue to find their unrealeased songs that ended up on their remasters in 2000.some of their best work was unrealeased ImO. : ThunderRoad. All Fired Up, Turn on your light, Race with the devil, Heart of a Lion, Prisoner of your eyes. Would be cool to review all fired up actually. One of their fastest most intense songs ever.
thanks man ! thats awsome that you posted that i will definatly check all of it out \m/ and i can totally review all fired up great title name as well again cheers!
Subscribed. I have been listening to Priest since 1980. Life changing I can tell you. Hope you get out of it what I did. Check out Rob Halfords band Fight and Halford.
Here's an old school song for ya You might have heard it a ton but Rock & Roll Machine by Triumph (good ole' Canadian band) heard this band a ton as a kid imho they are majorly under rated and check out their stuff if you hadn't real good stuff all around
I just discovered your channel and love your enthusiasm for metal. If you really wanna get your socks blown off i would love to see you react to Iced Earth - "Dantes Inferno". Judging by what you have reacted to so far you would love it. It is epic as fuck.
I don't know if you know it, but please... Make a reaction to FREE BIRD of Lynyrd Skynyrd. You will find the most beautiful, epic, majestic song of the seventies.
hahaha im definatly ok with that hahah im just glad everybody enjoys it thats all i ask just enjoy and have a great time watching and listening \m/ but ya more priest will come for sure hahah \m/\m/
So Ram it Down could have been a much better received album had the dropped the fake computer drums. MAJOR FLAW at the time. They got lazy enjoying their 80's success and took the short cut. Dave Holland had medical issues with his dad and did not play on album except for Johnny B Goode. They tried to win back the metal fans after Turbo but the fake drums got in the listeners way. Add to that Johnny B. Goode release and they self-inflicted themselves with these two wounds. OTHER than that the Album has many of the needed elements which "could" have made it much better album. DRUMS KILLED this album first and foremost then Johnny B. Goode was second hit to the chances of success (even though I think is is a cool remake)
They were approached by a movie studio to do that for the stupid movie. I personally wouldn't have put it on the Album...I mean the studio could've put it on the soundtrack for the movie.
Glen Tipton!! I am 62, these guys were my biggest hard rock influence as young guitar player growing up in 70s/80s!
Imagine if the RE-released this album for its 30th anniversary with just Scott Travis on the drums updated....everything else 100% the same. That would be GREAT
That's the dream, brother.

Are you going to do a track by track review of Ram it Down? (not play each song - just summary)
Possessed from 1985 the exorcist!!!

Great song! The album as a whole was not one of their best though.
true...I'd say 4 maybe 5 good songs in total. There's no denying Halford's vocals and the guitar work though.
Yeah for sure. That johnny b goode cover was cringe-worthy though haha.
They were approached by a movie studio to do that for the stupid movie. I personally wouldn't have put it on the Album...I mean the studio could've put it on the soundtrack for the movie.
Funny thing is - I am like the only person on the planet that actually likes that song.
Hmmmm....it's kinda like Turbo Lover!
