Ronnie was such a legend even back in the day everyone knew he was special, it sucks I missed my chance to see the Holy Diver tour , my buddy did have a ticket and felt bad for taking off that afternoon , so right before they left for the show , he said , hey man , close yer eyes open yer mouth , normally I would have never for a second trusted him or anyone that told me to do that but on that day I thought , no way he'd punk me with a trick , but instead he stuck a little purple barrel on my tongue and said have fun , at 15 yo I had never had more fun that night , even trippin alone for the very first time it was a blast , I ran in to some other friends that didn't go to the show , I damn sure didn't tell them what I had gotten in to that night , man those were the days , metal ruled the world .. thanks Frank . rock 🤟

Tony Iommi's playing on this album is what inspired me to play guitar. His playing is so melodic and expressive, but accessable. This is still one of my all time favorite albums. R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio.
Heaven and Hell Sing me a song, you're a singer Do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil The devil is never a maker The less that you give, you're a taker So it's on and on and on, it's heaven and hell Oh well The lover of life's not a sinner The ending is just a beginner The closer you get to the meaning The sooner you'll know that you're dreaming So it's on and on and on, oh it's on and on and on It goes on and on and on, Heaven and Hell I can tell Fool, fool Oh uh Yeah, yeah, yeah Well if it seems to be real, it's illusion For every moment of truth, there's confusion in life Love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer And it's on and on, on and on and on and on and on and on and on They say that life's a carousel Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well The world is full of kings and queens Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams It's heaven and hell, oh well And they'll tell you black is really white The moon is just the sun at night And when you walk in golden halls You get to keep the gold that falls It's heaven and hell, oh no Fool, fool You've got to bleed for the dancer Fool, fool Look for the answer Fool, fool, fool
I remember hearing Heaven and Hell on the radio for the first time. I was staggered. Had to purchase the album immediately and did. Decided to play the whole thing to see which tunes were worthy of play. As you know ALL OF THEM ARE AMAZING... To this day I have never been more enthralled by a release from any group. H&H is a true monument of metal mastery that remains unequaled in my opinion.
I had auto-taped some FM when I was in college, played it back years later and heard Neon Knights but they never said who the band was and I didn't know. I had to dig around (before the internet) just to figure it out. I was hooked on Sabbath after that, it really started my love of metal.
My Dad always said good music never dies, these pop fart artist will never have a song or a record that still sounds fresh , this was my era of music , this records ranks as one of the greatest metal records of all time,

The Best Black Sabbath line-up ever!! Ronnie Dio and Tommy Iommi acting on a heavenly level here!! This masterpiece was passed from father to son in my family and tomorrow will be mandatory for my son! Rip Ronnie 🤘your legacy will never die!
Absolutely a classic masterpiece of rock history: Dio joining Black Sabbath (after Iommi had kicked Ozzy out of the band), and recording one of the best albums ever! Hands down some of the best work from Iommi, Butler, Ward, and of course Ronnie. Had met RJD at a Blue Murder album release party years later, he was one of the coolest musicians I'd ever met! On a completely different note, I was in an auto accident right around the same time this album was released and tragically my brothers girlfriend died in the accident, the song playing at the time -"Die Young"... R.I.P. Jenny we will never forget you!
RJD was hands down the best vocalist Black Sabbath ever had. Not dissing on Ozzy or Martin, they have their own respective generations, but Dio's voice has stuck with me the most out of them all.
This is one of the greatest metal albums of all time. Its like lighting captured in a bottle. Every song is electric and honestly sounds magical. 10/10 fucking amazing
1980 - What a year for British Heavy Metal. Ace Of Spades, Wheels of Steel, Iron Maiden and Heaven and Hell. What a time to have been alive. So glad i was.
This album and it's follow-up the Mob Rules are two of the very very best albums released in the 20th century and if you're listening to this you already know this but I just wanted to go on record as having that opinion😚😙😚😅😊🤣🥲
It must’ve been scary for them. They had to deviate from Ozzy, and it really Paid off. This Album here is truly unlike any other, and it’s perfect. Ronnie and Tony knew they had to change, and they created something extraordinary.
Talk about two amazing talents finding each other at the right time. That opening one - two punch of "Neon Knights" and "Children of the Sea" is just massive! Highlighted by the soaring ecstasy of Ronnie's vocals and Tony"s thrilling solos. Pretty tough to beat
After 40 years being a Metal fan and hearing almost everything, enjoying from hard rock to extreme genres, I consider that this is the finest Metal album ever
When I first came to LA in 1980 I attended Summer Blowout concert held at the LA Coliseum during the day, Ronnie declared they were not used to playing in the light, but proceeded to burn, so powerful and surreal; my dark side was reminded there are two worlds to constantly choose from...this album was one of the few reincarnations that evolved beyond past glories.
I FOUND THIS CASSETTE AT 15..... IM NOW 53 & ITS AS FUCKING AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN THE FIRST TIME I HEARD IT. ITS IN MY TOP TEN CD"s OF ALL TIME. RONNIE TO ME WAS SABBATH.... JUST INCREDIBLE,....
I wouldn’t say masterpiece but it is pretty comparable to their earlier stuff! Ronnie James Dio is a badass!! Ozzy and Ronnie are my top two followed by Rob Halford!!
I've just seen everyone's comments, tbh I hadn't listened to this album in years. It's Amazing! And still fresh to the ears. An all-time must to any true music lover. 🎶
my older brother bought this album and I was like, "no Ozzy? it must suck!" then he played it. I was enraptured! By "Children of the Sea" I was hooked, by "Wishing Well" I was like "Ozzy who?" Every song a quality piece of pure elemental rare METAL!
I wanted to learn more about this album and I found out Ronnie was often nervous to perform infront of an audience that was used to seeing ozzy for so long, they would shout ozzys name over and over but after a while Ronnie grew on them. No natter what you think RJD was so talented and memorable, no one could sing or write songs like him. This will always be my fav album, One of the best male vocalists🙏🙏🙏
Portsmouth Guildhall 1980, fantastic gig. They brought over their lightshow from the US tour and covered the venue in a net of laser beams reflected with mirrors. In those days that was mind-boggling! It was their first tour with Ronnie, and a lot of diehard Sabs fans were baying for Ozzy at the beginning but by the end they had proved that there was life without him. It was funny because when the news broke that Ozzy had left the band I said to my friends that they should get Ronnie to sing, and hey!! I was very happy! Great album.
I am a huge Ozzy fan and would not accept this album as to me Black Sabbath was done when Ozzy was gone. It took me 10 years to finally appreciate this album and RJD. Killer album

I love how well you can hear the bass lines in the mix. For me, that's a rarity. Honestly sometimes the bass is almost more of a subconscious thing, it would sound different without it, but I rarely can single it out. Maybe a fill here and there, but this is a fantastic mix!

Iommi's work on Lonely is the Word, is some of the finest arrangement, playing and emotion in rock history.
The whole Iommi's stuff in every song of this album is just a thing of Gods.
that solo just mind blowing...
Gosh, yeah, he sounds like Alex Lifeson at some points....!!! Goose Bumps...!!!!

No idea what that says but I'm going to like it anyway
I'm reading Dio's autobiography. I've loved him from the first time I heard the power of his voice.
Knowing how he just KNEW he and Tony Iommi were meant to work together the moment he heard what would become "Children of the Sea" makes this record even more special.
One of the most brilliant bass work on this album all through out! The bass player is killing it
"The bass player" lol
YEAH - He's a bit of a Geezer, all right!
That Gezzer is an inspiration to us bassist. He is the "Anti- Root Note " bass player that gives the instrument versatility.
Geezer, Steve Harris, and Lemmy with his unusual bass playing technique are the three greatest metal bassists in history......l
You know who are the bass player, don't you?

Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
It's heaven and hell, oh well

The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
It's heaven and hell, oh no

I remember hearing Heaven and Hell on the radio for the first time. I was staggered. Had to purchase the album immediately and did. Decided to play the whole thing to see which tunes were worthy of play. As you know ALL OF THEM ARE AMAZING... To this day I have never been more enthralled by a release from any group.

Tony said that Ronnie really pushed him to ay more, and it shows. I'm really impressed by his solos on this album.

my older brother bought this album and I was like, "no Ozzy? it must suck!" then he played it. I was enraptured! By "Children of the Sea" I was hooked, by "Wishing Well" I was like "Ozzy who?" Every song a quality piece of pure elemental rare METAL!
That's why Ozzy worked so hard on Blizzard.
