Kris Bryant on the Rockies: It perplexed us all when the announcement was made and it's only gotten even more perplexing with time. You trade away Arenado and give the Cardinals $50 million only to do this? And this was with original projections with him in Colorado. It's been even worse than anyone could've ever imagined for him. The contract is now an albatross and Bryant is without a true position.
Which is why it's the signing that never made sense. At all. #krisbryant #mlb #coloradorockies

It's truly depressing, players all over the league were polled and the Rockies are in the same tier as As and White Sox as teams that players dont wish to go. For pitching I understand but it's kinda crazy that not even hitters want to sign to stat pad. The Rockies don't take advantage of Coors.

I will say that, as a Rockies fan, I do think that long overdue rebuild has finally begun as of trade deadline 2023. We traded all we could and got some decent pitching prospect return and committed to a almost entirely rookie/sophomore lineup. Guys are getting reps at the plate that never would before and it looks like it's moving in the right direction.
Bryant is our big dead weight. His production and health are so shot I have no idea how we get rid of him. McMahon is under control until 2027 and that may possibly be in our window so would it be worth sacrificing him just to get out of Bryant?
In the meantime, I hope the Rockies do trade Elias Diaz for sure, and at least Cal Quantrill as well and take flyers on Brandon Rodgers.

THE NEW YORK AND JETS play in NEW JERSEY ! THE ANGELS play somewhere else in CALIFORNIA every decade !
The NHL and NBA are soon to follow along those very lines in the near future.
Team Loyalty is a marketing concept and a one way street .
Analytics has overtaken personalities and abilities for determining players worth . And the WORTH !!?? Lets just say that Professional Sports has surpassed the PENTAGON when it comes to wasteful spending and lack of oversight.

Unfortunately, he’s been ravaged with injuries since 2018 when, early in the season, he got hit in the head with a pitch COINCIDENTALLY by the Rockies, and he can’t seem to stay out on the field long enough to be productive.

That contract was always going to be a disaster even without the terrible injury luck- it was a preemptive excuse to let Bogaerts walk, and Story's bat was always inflated by playing in Coors Field. The defense was nice, but 23 mil a year for six years for a defensive specialist (and an oft-injured one at that) hamstrung Bloom's spending capabilities for the last few years of his tenure.

Love seeing a baseball video from you, Tree. Keep 'em coming. Bobby Bonilla Day is tomorrow, though with the recent Mets resurgence to .500 and the third wild card spot, I'm not sure exactly how that video will work. You can't mock a team that is surprising everyone by not being shit. I guess a video about how surprisingly well they're playing would work, particularly if you jinx them by predicting continued good play.
I agree that the Rockies should have never signed Bryant or moved him to the outfield. I remember being shocked and perplexed when they signed Bryant, same as everyone else. They also should have learned from the Atlanta Braves that you do not move a franchise-caliber third baseman to the outfield. People forget that the Braves moved Chipper Jones to left field in 2002 and 2003 to put Vinny Castilla at third. Chipper said after retirement that the move hurt his career because of the surprising amount of wear and tear it put on his legs, particularly a knee that had already had ACL surgery when he was a rookie. Despite that previous knee surgery, he had nine injury-free seasons to start his career. After that left field excursion, he missed time in all of the last nine seasons of his career. The fact that Chipper became a Hall of Famer is a minor miracle, putting up great numbers while playing through pain, being injected with God knows how many Cortisone shots, and having at least three more knee surgeries. Unlike Bryant, Chipper had been durable. Bryant was somewhat injury prone before having to patrol MLB's largest left field in its thinnest air. It was always going to be a disaster. The Rockies can only wish for those mediocre ZiPS Projections these days.
