Donaldson, Bautista, Encarnacion, Martin and Pillar. These were players that gave their all when playing. Body and soul. Truly passionate for the game and the will to win. These are the kind of players that build championships. Four great hitters and an unbelievable centre fielder. Then add in Tulo and the Jays offense was oh so scary and defensively fantastic. Great players have to be great 2 way players. I always think defensive stats are ignored too often.

@@brandon-ww3mu are you stoned? Jeter was nowhere close to one of the best offensive SS's ever! He had 40+ doubles one time, 20+ HRs twice, and drove in 100 runs 1 time. You need to take a look at HoF SS's and do some offensive statistical comparisons. Jeter's only offensive strong point is his .310 lifetime batting average, and his 3000+ hits. 20+ doubles and 15-20 HRs per season is a dime a dozen. I'd argue that the majority of the Jeter clips you continue to see talked about today, are defensive in nature. His jumping, spinning, off-balance throw from the hole, across his body, and the crazy backhanded flip for the tag at home on a runner, during the playoffs. Never liked the guy, he's in the AL East, so my problem with him is purely biased (not to mention the cheap af Jeffrey Maier over-the-wall catch during the playoffs), but his key attribute was being clutch. Dude did what his team needed almost every time they needed it. And that's something no one can argue about (unfortunately LOL)

They have seemed to realize the value in signing an older veteran but I think this man deverves his hype from the jays. The most memorable bat flip in mlb history, hittinf 50 HR in a deadball era and revatalizing a citys passion in their sport. Rumour has it that it was conversations with Cito Gaston and Dwayne Murphy followed by another with Vernon Wells that kicked things off. Cito and Murphy wanted to get Bautista to start his swing early, he complained to Wells that he was starting early and didn’t know what Gaston wanted, Wells told him to start “ridiculously early then” and a lot of baseballs ended up in the stands that season.

I don’t think Jays fans realize how good we have it with Atkins, and how Anthopolous was nothing special until he worked with the Dodgers, before the Braves stint. Atkins rebuilt a depleted farm to build up for the future, has made many great trades that were highly questionable at first (such as the Varsho trade which looks better and better the longer Moreno is a league average hitter), or trading Kikuchi for 3 of the Astros best prospects when Erick Fedde couldn’t get nearly as much of a return as a sub 3 ERA starter. Atkins has hit on many 1 year signings, such as Semien, Ray, Belt, and also threw 700 million at Ohtani, which he declined. It’s not his fault players didn’t develop like they should have

Jose always contributed through defence and good at bats. I knew he was worthy of being an every day player and people laughed at me for saying that. He wasn't so much unwanted more that he just couldn't find the right fit. The teams that 'didn't want him' helped him find another job because of how loved he is and what type of guy he is. They wanted to help him succeed. And when he found the right fit and worked his swing out, he did. Guys a legend.

Cito Gaston is a genius hitting coach and Bautista is his #1 student. However, Gaston turned around many careers. WHen he arrived in '83 in TOronto suddenly a dozen Blue Jays started hitting who were pretty garbage before he arrived.

I never realized that Beeston came back to the Blue Jays. Beeston leaving the Blue Jays should be considered a canary in the mineshaft warning.

I've never seen a batter so good at hitting non-strike offerings out of the park. Pitchers literally couldn't pitch around him.

It felt like he played baseball angry. Always felt like he was actually fighting in the batter's box. Not a Hall of Famer, but definitely a Canadian Hall of Famer, which is more than enough for us. Such a Blue Jays legend the the most handsome man in baseball 2014.
The bat flip was such an impactful moment for the team and overall baseball culture.
    Also, Sam Dyson sucks.

An impactful moment .....overall baseball culture? The sheer lack of sportsmanship that the past 2 decades of players have played with is an embarrassment to the game. And the Hall of Fame tries to tell you that all they want inducted in the hall are men of high moral character. Yeah, ok. Guys that can't compete on a balanced even playing field (i.e., I'm looking at your steroid era), and guys who can't succeed without the desire to smear it in someone's face......overall baseball culture, you say?
