Fun Fact: Rookie Youkilis was almost dealt in a trade for Carlos Beltran along with Kelly Shoppach. But KC ultimately decided to deal with Oakland/Houston instead.
It was a great pleasure being a Red Sox fan during the Youk era. He was awesome. Too bad his prime wasn't longer. I was actually at the game where Joba threw at him twice, at Yankee Stadium!
I used a batting stance like Evan Longoria in high school and my coach hated every second of it. It wasn't useful in hitting drills ball after ball, however it was useful in having a .800 batting average. Shoehi Ohtani now uses a similar batting stance while I was called stupid for not using Albert Pujol's
im 35 years old and have always been obsessed with baseball...was a strter on the all star team every single year at shortstop and was the clean up hitter...made varsity as a freshmen in a town where we almost make it to state every single year.i just say all that to say im 35 years old now and never thought id see a younger kid that knew as much or more about baseball than i do.i even coached semi pro...and i have got to say you do a GREAT job on these videos man.
All he does is research and read it back doesnt mean he knows baseball maybe historian😂 but he cant coach or teach a swing and explain why??? Stop suckin up to these video junkies who work from home
I was at his last game for the Red Sox. The entire game the crowd was thundering for him. When his name was announced, each time he came to the plate. I think it was around the 5th where people who had smart phones began saying he was traded. Everyone knew this was it when he came up in the 7th and everyone there lost it. Another fun thing, a tourist from eastern Europe was there and thought everyone was booing him when we all said Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk when he was announced.
It's mind trick on the pitcher. I do something similar. I walk into the box close to the plate, when I see the pitch in motion to start the pitch I shuffle to the towards the back. So I can get a read on every pitch. Never fails. You can trick pitchers into throwing it where you want it
He was a terrific hitter & had very good plate discipline. The great Moneyball find those days. Kinda sad now that he's become an unhinged lying genocide supporter online though
Bro 2 foul ups for you. First in 2004 Pat Hentgen wasn’t the reigning Cy Young Award winner merely a former Cy Young Award winner and 2 they did have ALCS MVP since 1980. 2007 Josh Beckett was the ALCS MVP! Get your facts right and/or do easy research before posting a video
Stopped watching after I found out you are overlooking Manny Ramirez. Lost interest in the content for something that wasn't even the topic but it was so clear that is annoying.
@pakman5542 already said that...literally repeated what I said...gotta read better if you gonna stick your nose in a comment that was not even to meant to you.
@@RogerPerez-m5i Right I'm not saying I didn't understand your comment, I'm saying that expecting a player to be featured in a video that isn't about said player is dumb
The Greek God of Walks
I heard he really hated when people called him that. Only ensuring people kept calling him that.
Greek god of hops. One of his beers.
He is Jewish, but his name sounds Greek. He could be a Greek Jew though.
Best baseball nickname of all-time.
Another lie Moneyball told; that he's always had that weird batting stance.
Seeing him in a Yankees jersey hurts my heart, will always remember the YOOOOUUUUUK chants when he stepped into the box
Was definitely a special player
@MexicanBagel how do you figure? The Boston Red Sox are literally a bunch of rag tag dirtbags. The New York Yankees are nothing but pure class.
@MexicanBagel the Red Sox are literally a bunch of rag tag dirtbags. While the Yankees are truly players with class.
As a kid, me and my brother always impersonated Youk’s stance when we would play wiffle ball out in the front yard
Craig counsel makes his stance look normal
Came here to say that 😀
They both had crazy ones!
16:00 It's November and the white sox are still catching strays 💀
One of my dogs growing up was named after Youke, so it's been a wild time learning about him 😂
That's so cool!
4:37
I see what you did there.
Nice.
I was so sad the day Youk officially left the Sox, I loved watching that dude, rooting for him.
Fun Fact: Rookie Youkilis was almost dealt in a trade for Carlos Beltran along with Kelly Shoppach. But KC ultimately decided to deal with Oakland/Houston instead.
Him and Pedroia were just the textbook definition of what a Red Sox player is.
Love this about Youck..sox fan here..been watching a lot of your content...it's awesome..great narration
I forgot Tranpoline Queen Joba existed. Remember when he lost to a bunch of bugs in the ALDS? Good times
My first thought was Bagwell, but then I remembered Youkilis.
I remember "Moneyball" specifically pointing out the A's wanted him because he got on base so often.
Bagwell had a crazy one too

Still one of my favorite former players.
He was a cool guy for sure !
13:05 ALCS did have an MVP in 2007, and it was Josh Beckett. ALCS has had an MVP at least as far back as 2004, which David Ortiz won.
I've never seen him without the goatee, at least that I remember. He was a great hitter, defensive player, and a good overall guy.

.800 batting average? Doubt.

CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED.
An excellent video for all baseball fans
Lol check out cal Jr's batting stances
I'm not sure such a good hitter ever changed stances so much.

Tom Bradys brother in law was one hell of a baseball player
haha he was a beast
love your vids😁
Red Sox Legend!

Fire video
Aye I appreciate it !
0:42: In 2004, Pat Hentgen was not the reigning Cy Young Winner. The 2003 AL Cy Young Winner was Pat Hentgen's teammate Roy Halladay.
I was Kevin Youkilis for Halloween when I was 8 or 9
Cap
That's sick!
@@wheredadro 🤓
You stuff your mouth with big league chew? 😂 gotta be spitting to be youk
Julio Franco was the first to use this stance back in the 80s. Do some research and check him out. Solid player for his time.
Im Yankees fan so I wrote complaint letter to MLB about his ridiculous stance. I think it got lost in mail since I never heard back?
Haha that's awesome!
Thank you for reminding me why I hated the Yankees growing up 😂 yall some babies fr lol
@@Dezzyyy 😂 I didn't really do that...but I should have. It would have been the right thing to do since he seemed to always play well against us

That's a cool idea I never tried that
2008 MVP Winner was Pedroia, Morneau got 2nd. Morneau won in 2006.
Ay why the White Sox catching strays like that 😂😂
Youk did have a weird stance.
But Mickey Tettleton had a weirder one.
So his trick was he crowded the plate and was tough enough to take the hits that came with it.
Pat Hentgen was not the reigning Cy Young winner lmao
Always been a Ukulele fan
Pat Hentgen won in 1996, so wouldn't be the "reigning" cy young winner, just a former winner
No, it’s like a title, reigning World Series champs reigning cy young etc
@heisenberg7375 but "reigning" implies most recent
You're right, that's my mistake.
@3-0Greenlight great video and great content overall though, your stuff is crisp
White Sox catching strays 😂
Tony bastita stance 😮
Kevin Youkilis went to my high school
Lmfao u der 5'10" clothing.
Im 5'6" but too jacked to fit into my size clothes 😭
I’m about to open up a whole can of worms but a leg kick to generate power and not a tick for timing?
Julio Franco had a weirder stance
you're gonna make me cry about youk?! I'm a dodgers fan
He was a special player!
How was there not any alcs mvp in 07 when there has been in the nl before this?I rem Mike Hampton nlcsmvp in 2000
There was. It was Josh Beckett in 07, and in 04 Big Papi got the award.
Thank you for bringing that up I should've double checked, I thought it was more of a recent thing.
I'll know for next time!
Opening statement is immediately not true. Mickey tettleton, look him up
Who the hell wears 26" length pants?!
He was a terrific hitter & had very good plate discipline. The great Moneyball find those days.
Kinda sad now that he's become an unhinged lying genocide supporter online though
He is married to one of Tom Brady's sisters.
Dude forgot Craig counsell exists
His was cool too!
Yo he went to my high school
That's sick! He lives in Mass now, my friend actually worked on his car a couple months ago.
He went to Japan once
He did but unfortunately it didn't go too well. Those injuries on the tail end of his career killed his game.
i love you bro
Love you too man!
Don’t show ur face for ad reads just use non copyrighted photos 👍
Didn't Esteban Loaiza win the 2003 CYA?
YOOOOUUUUKKKKKKKK
Tom Brady's brother in law

YOUK
i dont think you know what "reigning Cy Young winner" means
I honestly don't know how I messed that up.

Cool stance but he had 3-4 good years. Cant say he destroyed everyone when his teammates did
Yooooook
Funny how this channel talks junk about all the other teams but can only live in the past when it comes to the Red Sox. LOL
