- Did you know the Arena Football League came back? Be glad you didn't. It's been a shitshow for the ages. Note how I say insane things relatively casually in this video. That's how bad things have gotten.
It's just past Week Three of Ten, by the way. If they even make it to that point.
This is clearly all Antonio Brown’s fault.
Or 9/11’s fault
Tbh with how the AFL is going you'd think AB was running it.
Thanks President Bush
AB’s generational run continues
Running it from the grave
This is what would happen if Bishop Sycamore were an entire league.

I'm starting to think the NFL's success was partly thanks to all the other alternatives falling flat on their faces
That just tells you how hard running a league actually is. For all it’s many, many faults the almighty Shield is genuinely the best run sports league in America.
I mean the NFL’s success was literally buying out its biggest competitor (the AFL) and combining the two leagues.
All other leagues set up to compete with it have failed (See XFL) and lot of the minor or smaller leagues have failed due to many reasons, from low ticket sales, to mismanagement and sadly for an lot of leagues, Covid.
I think it’s kinda telling no one even remembered this league existed, hell I didn’t know Arena league existed till AB bought a team. Meanwhile it’s competition of the new XFL merged league…
@rontheauraknight9606 sounds like a NHL problem as well with them buying out other leagues to make their own with zero competition
@@rontheauraknight9606the original usfl had a fighting chance to succeed, until they let Donald trump to have all the keys and power to use it.
@@enterprise9001Not only that but NFL teams are household names that are equally as recognizable as the NFL itself and infused with pop culture.
It's another reason why football leagues struggle. It's near impossible for a non-NFL team to be a recognizable brand like a NFL team is.

The AFL's savor in the back: Jeff Fisher. As much as we complain about him as a coach, he's far better of a manager than anything the AFL has on any level.
I’ll believe that when I see it
Jeff Fisher is the harbinger of a team relocating. I guess the whole AFL will relocate.
Maybe, but it's too little too late at this point.
I highly doubt he can save this; new leadership isn't going to fix the lack of funds, and the reputation of the League is going to be nigh-impossible to rehabilitate after everything that's happened.
Maybe they can finish the season, but I think that's the best-case scenario.
@@u4yk PTSD
Just wanted to add. Apparently they put enough of a season together to have a big Arena Bowl game to end it. Arena Bowl XXXIII managed to be played. In a converted ice rink inside the American Dream Meadowlands mall in NJ. Make of that what you will.

@@crazyluigi6664in Nashville he’s mister 8-8 lol. That’s what he did most seasons with the titans.
They wanted to break even
As Tree said in the video, make as many jokes as you want, but he's not a bad manager and he's able to keep things stable, and if the new AFL is going to not die stability is desperately needed.
I legit feel awful for the Albany Firebirds, be the new Albany indoor football team after AB's antics and then caught in the AFL's antics.
At least albany's nll team is doing good, they can distract themselves from the pain a bit.
Hopefully, if they have stable ownership, they join the IFL, since it's pretty much become the premeir arena league.
@@thezackast2752 The Firewolves going from worst to to the finals is one hell of a story, and they've got a great team with tons of talented youth.
Now if only they could get people to come to their games.
@@thezackast2752That and the University of Albany football team did well last season in the FCS.
Albany Firebirds is actually doing good and had 2 comeback wins.
UPDATE: Today 7/19, is the championship game of this lolcow league, and it’s taking place at a mall hockey rink in New Jersey. At least they made it to the end, conglaturiation AFL 3.0!
The part that sucks is I watched the week 1 game Tree showed a lot in the video, which was SUPPOSED to be on NFL Network, Orlando vs. Albany. And that game was incredible and looked like the old AFL. And then everything went to hell. I sincerely hope Jeff Fisher can fix this ship, but itll take a minor miracle to do it. He's already started well by having an updated website, having a damn schedule (that still needs work, though), and actually having a 40 minute interview talking about what he wants to do. I can only hope
they are so far behind the 8-ball that MAYBE they can recover.......or just end with a sliver of dignity
The sad thing is that there are already established leagues - the IFL and CIF have reasonably stable businesses, and the NAL has grown pretty well.
This con makes indoor football look SO bad.
The CIF merged with this league
@@Z64sports the cif merged with the nal because both leagues lost a few teams to this one.
It doesn't seem like the other leagues are happy about it. A couple weeks ago, the Arena League found it necessary to make a Facebook post about the necessity of responsibility of running a football league and how careful they were to spend two years planning a league of four teams.

I miss when the AFL was good, this AFL was such a meme that tree had to make a video in the middle of the night.
I miss the AFL2, the minor league team.
I second that notion, Kyle. Primarily as an Arizona Rattlers fan. :(
I have a feeling that this version of the Arena Football League won't be getting its own video game.
I miss it too. It was so fun to watch, and it was a legitimate league with a couple of good TV deals. I forget how it all ended but something that strong doesn’t just collapse by accident.
The AAF can't believe this league launch was poorly planned and financially underfunded.
It's a shame about the AAF. The announcers were tolerable, but they put everything in the hands of one idiot.
At least the AAF was better planned than the new Arena Football Leaguer ever was or will be.
I thought that no one would ever top the World Football League when it comes to total ineptitude.
But I stand corrected, considering that the AAF were struggling to play their players after Week 2 and now this disaster. Gary Davidson doesn't look so bad now. 😂
@@derekcabanaw1789 I mean, the new Arena Football League is even more incompetent than these two in terms of management and organization.
@@nathanmalik7056 Absolutely. When JaguarGator9 first mention this and then researching this, it is the biggest trainwreck I've ever seen as far as sports leagues.
Hutton's ability to run the League doesn't speak well to his Lawyer-ing, and makes the system he came from suspect.
I can’t think of a single high profile lawyer who does what he does who doesn’t have myriad ethical issues behind closed doors. Ironic he screwed over hundreds of black people in the process
If the Firebirds, Predators, and Kats hope to survive much longer they'll jump ship to another league.
IFL ideally. But maybe the NAL would work out
The fact that they band together to replace Hutton makes me think they felt that they have dug themselves a hole so deep it'll be more shameful for them to get out of it now so they're sticking it out for their pride's sake
Firebirds and predators will probably go back to the NAL.
@@farhanatashiga3721 other indoor leagues are already mid season so jumping ship THIS season was out of the question. I expect they'll find new homes next season.
@@roryh2241 The Preds came from the NAL. Which, to be fair, was collapsing at the end of last season. There's only one team in the NAL in 2024 that was there in 2023. Two jumped to the AFL, and five dissolved (two of them mid-season). Of course, while they were able to get five more teams, one has already dissolved this season, so the Preds may still only be in a slightly worse situation this season.
The problem is, minor arena leagues appear to be in big trouble right now. CIF died after 2023. NAL probably should have, and might yet. The IFL might indeed be the only option. Which would make sense for the Preds, Kats, and Firebirds, since they took the Sharks and Gunslingers.
Sad thing is the Albany Firebirds are doing amazing with crowds and stuff. Arena football was once a mecha for the city in the 90s and it still can be.
They'd be welcome in the IFL. The Rattlers and Barnstomers are there. Would be nice to get some of the band back together. Predators, you're welcome to come, too.
@@danielnaylor3434I’ll bet the IFL would be more then welcome to let them in. And add Chicago while you’re at it.

@@marcus813 Oh, God, yes! One of the original four teams, the most successful, longest lasting team in the AFL. It would be great to see them return. And, yeah, teams like Jacksonville and Massachusetts are all on an island out there in the east. Giving them Tampa and Orlando to play, as well as Albany up in the northeast would be a great move. I really hope we see that happen. Of course, they'd be sharing a name with the Sioux Falls Storm...and I kind of like that organization. Been around awhile, too, and I don't want them to relocate or change their name.
To be honest, the late 90s-mid 2000s were the peak years of Arena Football.
Games (up to and including the Arena Bowl) were being aired on ESPN, the league was growing, they even had two pretty good video games at that.
And then it just went belly-up. Indoor gridiron just seems to be cursed to be marginalized.

What a sad end to a really fun league. Went to a million Tampa Bay Storm games as a kid and it was always a great time. The AFL succeeded for years because it was different, fun, and well managed. This league is wearing the name like a skin suit.
I attended plenty of Storm games, too. I witnessed its ArenaBowl win over the Rattlers up close. Even though I never got to catch any of the game balls, I always had fun win or lose. I stayed at Amalie Arena after an ugly loss to the Predators to see the late Coolio in a postgame concert one night.
Message to the Arena Football League: THIS isn't 2000-2001 anymore!
This is beyond sad. My first season tickets I have was for the Milwaukee Mustangs in the 2000s. I was a fun time. I love arena football back in the ESPN2 days. Now looking at this now, it's embarrassing, sad, anger, and making me smh.
The Arizona Rattlers were my team, easily! At least once they came back, they were wise to jump ship and leave for the IFL.
Well at least you have the IFL, Ik it’s not the same but we all know that the AFL is now owned by AB and Bishop Sycamore
I'm also enjoyed AFL success as a San Jose Sabercats fan.
But the AFL is in shambles after C. David Baker retired as AFL Commissioner.
I'm glad that I'm watching arena/indoor football again with the Indoor Football League and I'm a Bay Area Panthers fan.
Watch the IFL/NAL. Theyre nowhere as big as the AFL used to be but its still pretty fun. The IFL streams on YT every weekend. Idk about the NAL since the merged
The NAL also has a YT channel, but I'm not sure about live streams.
Also a longtime fan from the ESPN2 days: I've got a few games on VHS somewhere. Ended up going to a few Buffalo Destroyers games in college.
Todd Tryon, the IFL is about to get a GARGANTUAN amount of new fans because of this.
Or they're gonna be unfairly hurt by just being associated with the AFL by means of being the same sport.
Already got more fans in Iowa.
The Original AFL was Insane. I almost played for the San Jose Sabercats. I made the team through tryouts...but barely any pay and horrible medical. If you got injured, you were damn near left to pay for it yourself. Most AFL Players worked normal jobs as well, hence the "Kurt Warner made the NFL as a grocery store bagger" when he really was an AFL QB and worked at a grocery store on the side.
I'm assuming I wasn't the only person who clicked on this video thinking Tree was just trolling the old AFL, not having the slightest idea they rebooted the league.

Meanwhile the Omaha Beef and the National Arena League still exist
And haven’t lost a match in over a year. Impressive. They need to move to the IFL
IFL is around and still good.
As an Albany arena fan I take issue with the idea that we "just can't win". Yes, the Empire team got screwed over by AB last year, but that's distant memory now. Every other season before and after that has actually been wildly successful here. No matter what league we played in, the teams were effing awesome. Excluding 2023, the Albany teams won championships in 3 out of 4 seasons, and we're off to another great start this year at 2-0. Our current ownership with the Firebirds is amazing, and I have no doubt we'll finish the season with the new, smaller league of successful teams. Probably with another Arenabowl win held here in Albany. When AB isn't involved, all we do is win. This season is going really well for us so far. :)
God, I remember watching the hell out of the Arena League, and the games were so fun! I was a SaberCats fan through and through because they won the Arena Bowl, which was the first game I ever watched. Sad how far the league fell, at one point there were literally just 3 teams.
Arizona Rattlers fan for me. At least they were smart enough to leave them and go to the IFL instead. Granted, that league needs more recognition, but still!

As a lifelong Kansas resident, I had NO clue we had three AFL teams
The state of Arizona has three IFL teams themselves (including the Arizona Rattlers), so in a sense, I can relate there.

The arena padding falling every 5 seconds and stopping play, the different size field goal post, it costing $5 to get in but $8 for a beer, the fact that the soul were clearly dramatically unprepared for the situation and you could actually hear the coaches asking other coaches what their names were. It sucks that AFL 3.0 is dragging the entire sport of indoor football down with it. Indoor football is a much better spectacle than the NFL has been for years, yet there's always shady shit going on with it. Even by indoor standards, though, this is diabolical. Living southwest Louisiana, I had bad vibes about this when it was announced the Voodoo were leaving Lake Charles to go to Lafayette one week before the season started. The arena chosen, Blackham Coliseum, isn’t used for much. Last time I was here this early the AFL still existed
The short-lived Alliance of American Football (AAF) had financial problems from the very start but it was still more competently run than the third Arena Football League.
