Fun Fact, aside from the specific Arena Football rules, this game is a nearly exact clone of Madden 2005. I started as a tester at EA Tiburon in 2005. Most of my class of new hires worked on this game (I was sent to work on Madden 06 for unreleased Xbox 360 console). The team that created this game were mostly developers from a studio called Hypnotix (that made the games Outlaw Golf and Outlaw Volleyball), a NJ studio that was bought out by EA. They all moved down from NJ to FL and worked on this game. That is the first game that used the Analog Stick for kicking (this was a main part of their previous games). Most of those developers ended up moving to work on Tiger Woods Golf afterwards (using the same Analog Stick mechanics for the swing).
I love how back in the day, when animations and graphic quality reached their ceilling, they put a lot of emphasis on diverse features and physics, such a golden era of sports games.
When I worked at GameStop back in the late 2000s I remember an unreasonable amount of children specifically looking for the arena football games and the PBR bull riding games and usually not much else.

Matt Nagy the Bears coach is a QB in this game, he played for the Columbus Destroyers. And Jay Gruden should be in the game as a coach and maybe still a QB.
Damn. The sports video game market used to be so cool. You had games for more obscure sports like Arena football & College Baseball. You also had multiple NFL games besides Madden & several college football franchises as well. There was also a lot of cool arcade NFL games like NFL Street and other niche games for kids like Backyard football & baseball.
My city had an Arena football team and I went to a few as a kid and honestly this game nailed it in terms of atmosphere and fun factor Surprised the sport didn’t stick around like when it was first launched
It's still around, it's just that the AFL won't be back till 2024, but the IFL is around, the rules are a bit different and I started going to the games this year cause I go to college in a city that has an IFL but man lots of fun, I'm locking up season tickets for next year. Definitely a great atmosphere and lots of fun!
I remember playing this game at a buddies house in elementary school and begging my mom to take me to blockbuster to rent it. It was cheaper to buy it than rent it so she did and it was a glorious day.
I remember going to arena games because my mom always got free tickets from her job. The scores would be astronomical, like 102 to 64. It was so entertaining

The only complaint I had about the 2 games was the unlockable logos weren't available on create-a-team. I went to my first AFL game in 1990. In fact it was Arena Bowl 90. Here in Detroit the Drive were the first AFL dynasty. Only around 6 years. Appeared in the Arena Bowl each year, winning 4, including 3 in a row from 88-90. I would have loved to been able to use the logo once unlocked then put them in a season. Other than that, I still play this today. Fun game you can jump into and enjoy, or get in depth with.
I believe I still have this game put up in a box somewhere. Two things I remember loving most about this game as a kid was running over the walls and knocking the coach down while making touchdowns. Touchdowns was so easy.
This is Lane from the Austin Wranglers now: Ayers, who is a business development consultant for the MMC Group, followed a 16-week marathon training program, which included one 20-mile long run, and then ran in New York. “It was so painful running that far. I slept the whole day after finishing. Now, I can run 20 miles and go work afterwards,” says Ayers. In October 2006, Ayers ran, and won, the Marathon 2 Marathon in West Texas - a race from Alpine to the town of Marathon. Her time: 3:33:51. In 2008, she improved her marathon time at the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon: 3:08:44. Some runners start at the shorter distances and work their way up. Ayers started at the longer distances and has been working her way up. She became interested in ultra races after pacing her boyfriend, Josh Hare, for the last 15 miles of the Jemez Mountain Trail Run 50K in May 2009. Pacing Hare at that event in Los Alamos, New Mexico, was Ayers’ first taste of what it might be like to run an ultra, and her first taste of trails. “It was fun. Jemez Mountain is a hard race, but I loved it,” says Ayers. “I think it’s good to find a balance between the trails and road. I like that you can get lost on the trails. It’s a great place to think and reflect. And I like the variety of the terrain.” After Jemez Mountain, Ayers decided to compete in the Palo Duro Trail Run 50K in Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo. To prepare, she spent time in Boulder, Colorado, running mountain trails. In Austin she trained with Teammac, a group coached by Mac Allen.
I miss the old school EA team creation, used to be so flexible and fun. Now its like do you want to be the Antlers? NOOOO I wanna be the Shwankyville Potatoheads or something. Dont force me in a box. Also, even though the animations arent quite as good, there are more of them and they feel more exciting. Like when the teams get introduce for example.
Yep. He spent 6 years in the AFL. Actually a very strong QB in the league, passed for over 4000 yards twice, and 74 touchdowns with 8 picks in his final season in 2008.
Arena for a brief period of time in the 90s was absolutely huge. I lived in Albany NY, home of the '99 World Champions, Firebirds. For 5 or 6 years, the Firebirds not only sold out the arena but we had huge NFL-like block parties before the game all day. Then one day they moved to Indianapolis over night. 😐. Really. The Arena league moved from mid sized cities to NFL cities, couldn't compete and died. And we loved our original Birds like big cities love their NFL team. They put an "AF2" team in as the new Birds but nobody cares about a minor league Arena team and the league itself lost the momentum. Glad you like the game. I'm downloading it. It's hard to describe how much fun and how serious the Arena league was in the 90s. Everyone at school knew the players like the NFL. It's like a different sport when done right. And guys play both sides earning their money. Long live "Touchdown" Eddie Brown.
I used to love going to the San Jose Sabercats game, they were like the Brady led Patriots of the AFL..and they averaged 13k attendance, sucks the owners couldn’t handle the financial aspect
Create-a-team was the ONLY reason I really played Madden. It was my favorite thing about the games. Now I have to settle for this relocation bullshit and it's not the same.
that fight sequence when the qb was hit outta bounds is peak football gaming. it's unbelievable how detailed this game is in comparison to madden today.
I remember watching Arena football games on Spike TV, it was awesome, I loved it. Didn't really follow it, but it took me awhile to change the channel when I stumbled across it
I used to watch the tampa bay storm games like ever week a couple years ago with my family they were so awesome. its too bad not much arena football exists today but if you ever get the chance to watch a arena football game do it.
Hey everyone!! I just wanted to share some good news with you all. Let's just put it this way, the Ten Commandments are called the Moral Law. Ask yourself this. How many lies have you told? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever used God's name in vein? Have you ever hated someone or ever looked with lust? This is for you to judge yourself, but chances are that you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous, fornicating, adulterer at heart and you HAVE to face God on judgement day. Now ask yourself this. If God judges you on judgement day by these Commandments, will you be innocent or guilty? Of course you'll be guilty because we've all done these things. The truth is that none of us are good people and we NESD God's grace to make it to heaven. We judt simply cannot do it on our own. These Commandments arecalled the Moral Law. You and I broke the law, Jesus payed the fine. So now what we must do to be saved is to repent of our sins and trust alone in Jesus Christ! To repent doesn't mean to just say I'm sorry, but to turn from our sins and let Him truly be our Lord continually. He said that many will say to Him, Lord, Lord I have done all of these things for you. And He will say I never knew you. Depart from Me, ye who work iniquity! And those will be cast into outer darkness and raging hellfire and loneliness for all of eternity!!! Because we broke His law, He is very, very just to send us to hell. If someone had murdered 4 people and said to the judge, I've done nice things too and have tried to treat people nice but it was just one time, the judge would then say, okay but you're going to jail. And the judge is very just to do that. One last thing, if you were 10,000 feet in the air and you had to jump, you wouldn't jump out and flap your arms and try to save yourself. That's ridiculous! You would put on the parachute. It is the same with Jesus. You must trust Him as you trust the parachute. We are not good and we cannot save ourselves with our own goodness. We must trust alone in Him to save us. In just a moment of time you can pass from death to life. Jesus said, "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again." That is how we enter heaven. Through the blood and grace of Jesus Christ!!!!✝️If you ask someone how to enter Heaven, they will most likely say, "Be a good person." Well the Bible says that none is good, no not one. We like to compare ourselves to guys like Hitler and say, "Hey, I'm a pretty good guy compared to him." But when we compare ourselves to God's standard, we realize that the Bible speaks truth when it says that we all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God!!! When we see this ( our sin in its TRUE light), we see how much trouble we are in and we say, "Well then there's nothing I can do. I'm going to hell for sure then." It's true that there is nothing that WE can do, but there is something that has already been done for you! God sent His One and Only Son to die on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins! So to recieve that eternal sweet sweet forgiveness, all we must do is repent of our sins (meaning to continually turn from them and confess them) and trust alone in Christ as you trust a parachute. If I was to push you out of an airplane, you'd want the parachute for sure! Don't try to flap your arms and save yourself, trust in the parachute! His finished work on the Cross IS ENOUGH!! He is the only way to Heaven, He said it Himself!! These other religions teach that we must he good and do good things and then maybe if we've been good enough, we will enter Heaven. But if that is true then we are all doomed to eternal hell because none of us are good. That's why this makes sense. Look at the Ten Commandments, they are written on your heart right now!! I promise that you have violated them. And you might still be doing that today. Therefore God is just to poor out His wrath on us because we deserve it!! But Christ died for us so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him! Turn to Him today, and He and only He will save your soul "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again ( to go to Heaven)."✝️The true joy of Christ dwells in me!!! Does it in you? I know where I'm going when I die! Do you? I have an ETERNAL victory! Do you? I have more joy than ever because of what Christ has done. I have been down both roads. The road of the wicked and the road of Christ. Christ is way better and my cup runneth over with true joy and salvation. If you do not know the One true God and are not sure of your salvation, I promise He will never fail you. Turn to Him in repentance and faith. Repent means to confess and forsake your sins, never turning back to them. I tried changing on my own but I couldn't. It took the power of Christ on the inside of me to do it for me. He will give you a new and clean heart with new and clean desires and you shall be born again. A new creation in Christ Jesus! Hallelujah! Jesus said in order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again! Thank you Lord Jesus!!✝️

Ayers, who is a business development consultant for the MMC Group, followed a 16-week marathon training program, which included one 20-mile long run, and then ran in New York.
And I like the variety of the terrain.”
After Jemez Mountain, Ayers decided to compete in the Palo Duro Trail Run 50K in Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo. To prepare, she spent time in Boulder, Colorado, running mountain trails. In Austin she trained with Teammac, a group coached by Mac Allen.
Low key the tackling and all the motions are pretty realistic 😂😂
1:03 M. Nagy is now coaching in the NFL with the Chicago Bears
Just the fluid ness when you’re running is so satisfying
I miss the old school EA team creation, used to be so flexible and fun. Now its like do you want to be the Antlers? NOOOO I wanna be the Shwankyville Potatoheads or something. Dont force me in a box. Also, even though the animations arent quite as good, there are more of them and they feel more exciting. Like when the teams get introduce for example.
"So your gonna be scoring on almost all possessions"
Pretty much that's what its like in the AFL. Scores in the 40s and 50s sometimes 60s were common.
@0:56 Hold up is that Matt Nagy, current Bears HC loll.
Yep. He spent 6 years in the AFL. Actually a very strong QB in the league, passed for over 4000 yards twice, and 74 touchdowns with 8 picks in his final season in 2008.
This would've been an oversight for me if I replayed this game.
He played for the Columbus Destroyers
That yeti literally looks like the “mom said it’s my turn on the Xbox” meme XD
Hey, I just wanted to give you a heads up that EA Sports Rugby exists too
Arena for a brief period of time in the 90s was absolutely huge.
Don’t forget the AF2 as well
memories of me and my best friend playing all night, laughing at all the stupid plays we would do,and catches we made...
fun stuff
Matt Nagy looking nice! 90 overall flex. Bear down 🐻
Love your vids keep it up man, you are the best youtuber and kept me up during my surgeries
The 10 pick was matt Nagy the coach for the Bears
The second game “Arena Football: Road to Glory” was even better.
I used to love going to the San Jose Sabercats game, they were like the Brady led Patriots of the AFL..and they averaged 13k attendance, sucks the owners couldn’t handle the financial aspect
Dude, this game is great! We had this at the Blockbuster I worked at.
Create-a-team was the ONLY reason I really played Madden. It was my favorite thing about the games. Now I have to settle for this relocation bullshit and it's not the same.
2:51 hey the Bears coach went 10th overall
that fight sequence when the qb was hit outta bounds is peak football gaming. it's unbelievable how detailed this game is in comparison to madden today.
Bro you gotta play the 2nd arena football game. Wayyyy better. Also arena football was at its best during this time
FACTS!
0:57 COACH NAGY 🐻⬇️

Arena Football was severely underrated. Loved these games and going to the events was pretty fricken cool too
Had this game years ago. Remember that as you achieved certain goals/stats, you could unlock "classic" Arena teams. 🏈
"Youre a good motivator right?" Lmao.
The golden age of sports games. I had this game. Tons of fun
“EA Sports Arena Football” threw me off lol.
I use to live near Orlando , I loved going to predators games as a kid and had a great time at the arena bowl when it came to Orlando . Hope they bring em back someday
11:50 UGF flashbacks Intensify
FYI, the opposing QB is none other than former Heisman trophy winner Joe Hamilton, from my home town!
Roy Roberts Joe Hamilton never won a heisman, he was runner up
You're from Alvin??
Pasha Prioleau pretty much, Jamestown
Like who thought this was the UGF Pandas latest video
Anyone else notice Matt Nagy? The current coach of the Bears?
I actually went to some AFL games (there was a team in Cleveland). They set up the rules for the most scoring feasibly possible.
At 2:43 there is a name M. Nagy who is now the coach of the chicago bears
Matt Nagy
