This is very cool. Thank you for making this video.. I honestly had no idea about some of these teams.. Packers and 49ers are my all time favorite teams.
Can we vote for a realignment? Im a Cowboys fan and it sucks having rivals with teams on the east coast that you never run into. If we played New Orleans and Texans twice a year that would be a great rivalry. We actually have family ties and competitive feelings towards our neighbors already. Maybe you could also schedule at least one game against a long time rival like the Redskins every year. So many teams have Rivalries with teams that are no where near them. Like Shouldn't the 3 Cali teams be in the same division? Florida also. forget the stupid NFC AFC none of us where alive to even give a damn about. Just divide the divisions by actual area. But still schedule old rivals at least once a year. Win win. Just have a West, East, South and MidWest division. Top 4 teams in each region go to playoffs. Imagine if the different regions actually squared off in the semi's !!! that would be lit. King of the East vs King of the West, or Midwest Champs vs Southern champs. Everybody would have a region to root for instead of two random teams that the other 30 team fans don't give a damn about. Now It would have some regional pride and history behind it. I know closed mined people will say "football is perfect dont change it". Glad they didnt think like that when they changed the game a million times in the last 100 years or we would have a shitty sport. What a dream to actually meet people you have rivalries with... maybe one day.

I'm curious as to why the Cowboys are called "America's team" if they are neither the oldest nor have the most championships.
@@sizablekoala6879 Cowboys are called Americas team because it was a nickname given to them by the NFL films department because of their popularity, not championships. Even now they get the highest ratings and most airtime on any sports show because the ratings for both dont lie. Also they blow every other team out the water when it comes to merchandise sales and different product deals that other teams dont have. Love them or hate them they are Americas teams. Dallas along with the Steelers are a huge reason that Football took that next step into top dog in sports in the 0's. Much like what Magic and Bird did for basketball, same can be said about those Bradshaw and Staugbach teams. Nothing to do with Championships.

As a Brit it always amazes me that teams move. The idea of Liverpool FC or Manchester United/City moving is unthinkable. Not criticising it's just weird.
Alex, I’m an Aussie and I 100% agree with you. Eg: the Rams, StLouis, LA etc Loyalty and rivalries built up over many years are vitally important in Aussie Rules too. I just can’t understand how a team that moves to another state, can not only survive but flourish?
It doesn’t really happen anymore. I mean, the Rams did it, Raiders, Chargers, all of them, but not a team that is so historic in their city such as the Bears or the Packers. The Packers will NEVER move, as long as the league exists.
Being from a small city of what which used to be one the biggest cities in Ohio, Portsmouth, the portsmouth Spartans are still a pretty important part of our history here. We have a 3 mile flood wall with murals of our history and that football team holds like 3 spaces on it. The portsmouth high school even call themselves the Spartans and they play in the Spartan stadium. Being from such a small place, it’s weird hearing people talk about it haha

A few years back I imagined Honolulu having an NFL team. I thought they might be a "traveling team" that might only play its major playoff games in Hawaii. At the time I had no idea how similar this was to the actual story of Los Angeles' first team.
They could be called the Hawaii Phomos, their license plate is a rainbow and their mascot could be the Unicorn.
(BTW, the "P" is silent)
@@armybeef68 Don't degrade Hawaii's use of the Rainbow as a symbol. It's the only place in the USA where you can see one everyday and is a part of the Hawaiian culture. Besides the word you want to use is "Mahu" which means 3rd gender. It has lost it's original meaning from acient times to what it is refered too today's LGBT.

Thanks for this informative video. I'm in the UK and only recently have I gained an interest for the sport. I thought that learning about the history of the NFL would help me in choosing which team to support. I've settled with the Falcons as I like the animal, and was made when my dad was born, so it will be easy to remember when they started.

Seahawks don't exist, its a reference to Eagles, Osprey and Seagulls that fly around the Puget Sound and the Pacific NW.
Miami Seahawks from the AAFC in '46 were the first to have the name. They moved to Baltimore, and came into the NATIONAL-AMERICAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (as it was known for a few offseason weeks after the ALL AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE league's MERGER in late 1949 into early '50, only to change back to the NFL in the late spring/early summer of '50) before that 1950 NFL season began.
That Colts team had green and silver as their AAFC colors, the same as in Miami in '46. They folded wearing that color. Colts brought in blue and white three years later. Remember the quiz in DINER? The guy asked his fiancee to pass a Colts trivia test? If she failed they would not marry. And one question was the color of the 1950 NFL COLTS= GREEN, SILVER AND WHITE..

For a European like me that hasn't followed this sport so much it was interesting to learn the basic fact of the leagues evolution from its beginning to current times...I only knew abt the names, Raiders, Packers & Redskins but not much about the sport as a whole or it's league so far until now..
Just remember, our NFL has changed so much that you can't say that name you used for the team in Washington.

I really enjoy games where teams wear their throwback uniforms. I'm a Packers fan and while I think their modern uniform looks great I really enjoy when they pull out the old school navy blue and gold uniform every so often. Personally I think it makes the older uniforms that much more enjoyable to see your favorite team playing in. Unless it's the Steelers throwback uniform, that one is just awful, lol.

Al Davis then left the Chargers coaching staff in 1962 to become the manager of the Oakland Raiders in 1963.
Al Davis obviously copied the the 1960 L.A.Chargers original shield logo and added it to the Oakland Raiders pirate logo in 1963 because coincidentally the original 1960-1962 Oakland born Raiders pirate team logo didn’t have the shield logo in their original birth year of 1960-1962
until Al Davis joined the Oakland Raiders in 1963 then added the shield logo to the pirate logo.

When Barron Hilton attended the USC football games the previous years as a football fan at the L.A.Coliseum he would hear the Tommy Walker Charge chant.
When Tommy Walker would run out to the football field to attempt the extra point kicks as the team kicker the USC team music band would play Tommy’s Charge chant he created as the team musician and the football fans that attended the games would yell out his Charge chant
