It would be cool to see some videos that are like "how to dress sporty for every kibbe type" or "how to dress french chic for every type" et c. so you can show how all types adapt lines in different styles. I am theatrical romantic and I lean toward sort of etheral/feminine/romance styles, but I like mixing in a bit of edgy rocker sort of elements.

People associate romantics with being very feminine and "cute", but I don't want to be seen as that. I want to be seen as strong, a bit intimidating and cool. Request: something that would be slightly less fun than usual but incredibly helpful would be office/professional-wear that flatters the different Kibbe types.
I really struggle with it as a TR, and have defaulted to a uniform of delicate black crewneck or boatneck sweaters and 3/4-length black cigarette pants with some form of simple black flats - but I have a light-haired cat now, so I've gotta switch it up haha. Plus, it would just be nice to get ideas from the master. :)

I agree that people shouldn't be put into boxes and forced to wear clothes they don't like - but let's not forget that the original book DID JUST THAT! I feel like people treat Kibbe like a god who is never wrong and it's us peasants who misuse his language.
Please be reminded that kibbe basically repackaged his ideas from other, more well known designers and that his own style is... well, it's not very good. Just look at Kibbe before and after pictures and see for yourself, not just the book but also his own website.
I would also be reluctant to take tips from a man who doesn't hesitate to talk down on women (description of romantics: "words, explanations, and intellectual logic are always secondary to your innate experience of situations").
Kibbe is absolutely treating the system as a lifestyle and I for one am glad we are bastardizing his work!! The only important thing are your lines and your taste and that's it! His words aren't gospel and you should not feel confined by the dumb system!

As so many have previously commented, videos of the different Kibbe body types being able to wear apparel styles. Example- the Blazer; Dramatics can wear longer, straight blazers to emphasis their longer lines. Romantics can wear more fitted, waist emphasizing blazers and perhaps a softer, feminine lace trimmed blouse underneath. Flamboyant Naturals wearing blazers with structured shoulders (80’s Norma Kamali pads). I’m only guessing about these details might be suitable for the mentioned body types. I’m Soft Natural and when I do wear blazers, they are usually with drapey softer fabrics, fitted/semi fitted silhouettes or cropped jacket for softer waist emphasis. Choosing the correct lines and silhouettes for your body type is foremost and learning to tweak the garments details can expand all our wardrobes. Ali, PLEASE keep helping us refine our wardrobes and style aesthetics with your wisdom!

I think when Naturals find their correct lines/silhouettes/fit, they look effortlessly styled and “natural”, like you wake up in the morning just looking that good. With the Flamboyant Naturals, I always think 90’s Super Models...everything looks good on them!😂 Boho or Bohemian style has been around for centuries. It’s based on the creative, unusual style of artists and artisans, always with a touch of handcrafted, hand made, one of a kind original feeling. It can be very colorful, ethnic, quirky or simplistic and rustic, thrown together textures but it never looks run of the mill. It can also be achieved with unique details on basic garments. Think of Cindy Crawford. She looks stunning in outlandish, extravagant, ornate couture gowns and also gorgeous in a plain white tank top with jeans in a Pepsi commercial. Check out the Super Models. I’m sure you’ll find plenty of great inspiration! I’m a Soft Natural and would kill to be Flamboyant!😜

Hi Aly. Very educational and I enjoyed learning this very much and looking forward to more videos. I think back in the '70's there was a boho style and I think that it was called boho. From what I recall learning It was Mc jimsey who labelled those styles. She did call it Ingenue which is French. David Kibbe did not like that term for a grown woman so he changed it to Gamine. Now a days we have too many crazy new styles: cottage core, granny chic, light academia, dark academia, coconut girl, vsos. I think it's all about marketing to get people to buy all these different type of styles. From what I recall Preppy Style was how the young men in those expensive schools on the east coast of the States dressed. Then in the '60's when girls wanted to further their education they were sent to Prep school (to prepare them for College) and they wanted to dress like the boys. As both males and females matured they adopted the Classic style. Watch the Love Story with Ally McGraw and Ryan O'Neill. Great video and looking forward to the next one.

I'm 5'9 tall and I look narrow but I don't look sharp nor blunt that's why sleek styles and tailoring do not compliment me (too gawky and stark on me), as well as a wide and shapeless silhouette (I look frumpy on them). Huge draping, asymmetry, soft-edged geometric shapes, warm and rich muted colors, and a hint of glamour work on me. Ornamentations work if it's only used as an accent and it should be large and cohesive on my ensemble.

The insight is so on point. The blazer part I can relate very much (struggle of my life as a romantic). I get it with type Vs style. I look horrible in pink as I have very pale skin with cool undertone. I would therefore not choose the pinks, but go for blue, cool green or even black. The romantic lines and fabrics are important for me to follow, because that's what works (thank you Aly for leading me to that realization). I do like boho and my jewellery is something between delicate and intricate, boho and gothic.
I love those videos, definitely interested in all topics I even watch the ones that are not for my type just to have a better overall idea.

Hi Aly. After replying to your video I realized that I got some details incorrect. It was Northrup who first came up with the system in the 1930's but I think it was yin/yang only (based from Feng Shui) ? Then in the 1960's Mc jimsey re-designed the wheel and gave those body types those names. Then in the 1980's David Kibbe has perfected it. As you mentioned unfortunately these days there is no one style or any style. People have a choice to wear anything or whatever. I feel it has to do with clothing manufacturing because they just want to sell for profit and care how it looks on someone. Unfortunately when the style returns to a more body shape technique people won't know how to dress, I feel. Just my opinion only.

Her examples are very specific in her videos and post so it’s still hard to find your style or look if you’re looking for that.

What style of sun hat would suit a Romantic? My face is romantic too. I need a beachy sunhat and I already have a beachy/boho style but some hats dont look right

Can you make formal style for the body types? I have pretty many blazers but I rarely wear them cuz I don't know how to adjust them, they look too straight too strong for me

David Kibbe actually wrote the book, this is based on way back in the late 80s. But yeah...I hadn't heard about him till a year or so ago, either.

When talking about romantic/floral styles on men, Social norms or consensus etc. would probably be a better wording than socially acceptable, as that sounds pretty backwards & even judgmental, which I’m sure is not the intention behind it…. :)
