Is this strategy significantly different than the one you're currently using for live poker? If so - what's the biggest shift?
Me personally, I play in a card room with an hourly seat fee rather than a rack structure. At certain tables where they limp/call preflop and there isn’t a lot of aggressive players behind me, I like to overlimp with low suited Aces/Kings and low pocket pairs to potentially cooler someone when I flop big.

@@hungryhorsepokerin this situation they limp-call a large amount of the time. Literally 1/2 4 limps to me on the button and I’ll bet $25-35 and get 5 calls. They could have 52s or AQo I’ve seen people show up with both.
In my cash games there are rarely any 4 bets +. If it gets to 4 bet it usually is an all in and if there is a call it’s usually A’s vs K’s.
Glad I found your channel through your voice over shorts. My biggest leak live is definitely overplaying KJo AQ/AJ/ATo type hands with large raises and over bluffing when I don’t hit / over calling larger raise sizes.

Marc, how does timed rake for Texas games affect these charts: would you open more pocket pairs and suited Ax from EP/MP or nah just let it ride and keep those ranges strong?
I like these ranges but I might omit some of the suited connectors from EP. Too many players flat with hands like QJo and KQo, and when raising from EP there’s a higher likelihood your raise will get flatted by these hands. Start adding those hands in HJ/LJ
When isolating limpers in low stakes like 1/3 or 2/5, what is the baseline formula you typically use for sizing ?
I’m in Tx with an hourly seat fee. Could you say a word or two about non rake considerations? Can loosen up and flat slightly more pre?
I know you can loosen up a bit but not sure about flatting more pre. I’d be interested to hear an answer on this as well from an expert

About the vs limp range from BTN: so do you recommend we play squeeze or fold from the button? For example KJo is a fold on the chart but i think it could be profitable depending on player profiles…

As usual GREAT video ‼ thanks for sharing. Are we going to raise as size that will leave us HU vs limpers ? Or a size that will.generate the most amount of money in the pot pre flop ?
Is the ISO range charts are good vs multiple limpers or only good for one limper ? If good for one limper what would be the adaptation for 2 or 3 limpers (bigger raise ?) ?
for more than one limper - as a default starting place my iso range would be one range tighter than wherever the first limper limped from. so if mp and co limped, my button iso would would be ep open range.
now obviously this depends upon what these guys are limping with… so take it with a grain of salt.

if I understand correctly against passive fish SB and BB who call to wide pf,we should in theory open less because less FE for marginal hands but we don"t cause we are not ,quite the opposite we open wider because we are not punished enough with 3b and have positionnal and edge postflop
Great post....lol-- long time ago...th fish literally-- for real tattooed a pro's face on his shoulder...😆... The pro mentioned that he would give 10K to anyone who tattoos his face on them.... But the fish never got an escrow or made the deal. The fish came in with a tattoo on his shoulder...of his face ... Oh my God, it was the funniest thing ever... Pro never paid up... The fish still has his face on his shoulder....lol

How does BB squeeze range compare to button squeeze range? Should it be more linear but about same % since you're playing OOP? Or should it be linear but reduced % since you are closing action + you raise larger being OOP?

Can you say a little about how to adjust when sizing preflop is crazy. As you know a lot of 1/2 and 2/5 games a standard open may be 12-25 against a tight open I’m guessing you pretty much fold even tighter than your chart?
IIRC the play here is to punish almost exclusively with 3-bets or folds. I would agree that you should probably stick with tight linear value hands, although you should be able to polarize a bit against players you think will be likely to fold either pre or post-flop. Make sure you keep SPR in mind when it comes to sizing.
Why K6s and not K7s vs aggro on btn?
I am making an educated guess here but I believe it is because on boards of 2345 where villains can have an Ace there is much ore value in having the 6 then a 7 for obvious straight reasons
When you sit down to 8 other players, how long does it take you to identify the fish from the pros?
My question is. If we are the one always 3 betting and being aggressive. Isn't that recognized and easily exploited?

Serious question: How does employing live randomization make one a fish? Sounds drastic and hasty to conclude that based on something so simple.
There are very non-distracting ways to do it. For example, suppose in your preflop strategy you, for whtaever reason, have in the scenario you are in (i.e. the table config, position, stack depth, etc) 50% in the cell that represents 74s, and you are dealt 74s. So you do the same thing every time you randomize. You glance at your watch, and if the seconds digit is odd, you play that 74s, and if the seconds digit is even, you fold that 74s. Simple enough. Now if you want to get into it opening yourself up to physical tell potential, ok,. Otherwise, why does live randomiation "fish-ify" a player categorically speaking?
No watch? Can use the last letter on the second line of text showing on one of the TVs in the room, and just assign the results that each letter ges ahead of time, like A-M = "play it", and N-Z = "fold".
you have 1 million pieces of information live from which to make decisions.
what edge do i have over the sb and bb? will the sb 3b appropriately or call too much? what is my stack depth with these two players? are the players up or down on the day? will they call or fold too much post?
you have enough information to be able to determine if 74s is a profitable open or not if you use your brain. randomizing takes the decision away from your brain and makes it random, which is absolutely asinine against weak players. hence - makes someone a fish.

At 13:10 your HJ range for replying to a 3bet (from passive player) includes 43s, 33, 22. But those hands aren't in your HJ RFI.
Similarly, at 14:05 those hands are also in your HJ range for replying to 3bet (from aggro player).
Unless I'm confused, you can't call a 3bet with a hand you didn't open. Am I confused?

what about sizings? what open raise sizing do you use? 3bet size etc?
Isn't that interesting how this wannabe poker genius doesn't even explain what open size to use in any of these charts, or how RAKE would GREATLY effect the shapes of these graphs? If I played any of these graphs at my local casino's 1/3 or 1/2 I would lose my entire bankroll over 80% of the time. I feel bad for anyone who actually takes advice from this guy.

I cant imagine myself folding AJ, KQo EP or the suited A2, A6-A8s. How do you keep the discipline to fold these or in what situations you adjust and start to open those?

@@hungryhorsepoker Oh, I was literally thinking that exact same question about fifteen seconds earlier, and wondered "maybe someone else is curious of that and already asked," and look, here it is.
My theory was that 'hungry horse' was some kind of play on the trope of bad players being referred to as donkeys all the time, far more vocally in the late 90s/early 00s, and making a contrast. I.e. we don't want the donkeys to be well-fed, we want the opposite. Plus it has alliteration, and alliteration is awesome. Always. Always has been.
How do limpers affect this range? My BTN raising range is definitely not this wide, but that's because A2o doesn't seem so great when three people limp. If it folded to me, that's one thing.

Why are something like 66 okay early position but not 44. The only logical reason I can think of is that you will get raised off of small pairs too much when you open them from EP so by making small pairs a smaller part of your range preflop from early position, you will have to fold less often preflop and in that way save money. If this is correct, then it makes no real different whether you play 66 or 44, because they are basically the same. Is 44 or 55 better because than 66 since it blocks wheel draws.
Guy folded KK against my 4bet with AA recently because "it felt like Aces". I was dumbfounded for at least half an hour

13:51 why do i want to prefer 43s over like 98s? Ive always considered those middling suited connectors some of the best non premium hands vs a 3bet and hands like 43s just dust. like pretty sure 98s is the strongest hand vs aces (granted the odds r still not great)
reverse implied odds vs a lot of their 3b range. ak vs 98 for example on qjt

A question about the video here: could you mention the size of the various spots (RFI, iso raise limpers, 3bet ip and oop, squeeze ip/oop, 4bet ip and OOP). My main doubts are about the size of the 3bet OOP, the size of the squeezes ip and OOP and the size of the iso with 2/3 limpers.. Also I don't like opening 4x from the early positions. I go as small as 2x from the first 3 seats. Using 4x just from the co and button, 3x in all other positions.

these are for 4x rfi at 200bb playing against typical live lineups that under 3b and call too much. 3b 4x ip and 5x oop. i’ve also experimented with strategies 3b 2.5x ip to allow us to 3b a ton whenever a fish opens and get pots heads up. both strategies work, just diff ranges.
in slightly tougher lineups where players are 3b a ton i would recommend rfi smaller, but this is super rare in live poker.

missing the forest for the trees here. don’t aim for an exact percent. don’t follow charts blindly. don’t play like a bot. this is a rough starting point and you can adjust for your game / rake / players behind / etc.

i have been thinking about limping all my holdings in early position ( first 3 spots in a 9 player game ) because most of the time someone will raise and then i can reraise.
if i have AA early position and raise most of the time ill have 3 callers on average, so i was wondering if it would not be better to limp get a guy to raise and have two other players calling that raise and then i come in with a massive raise like 6x, what do you think?

try to think in terms of 1) what is their range? and 2) what happens if?
there is no exact answer, just like there are no exact ranges. a good starting place may be 4x + 1x for every call, but it DEPENDS on stack size, how sticky the players are, etc.
I'd think of it in terms of the average bet at the table. At my local $1/3 a $12-15 range is standard to open and then $35-65 is the normal 3-bet. The more BB you have effective, the larger you can be on that spectrum when your objective is to generate low SPR for your opponents. But if that's not your goal, then you know...bet less.

Im not folding KK pre against a rec to any bet ever for under 200 BB unless it is an uber nit OMC type. Ive seen too much wacky shit to do that. For all we know they saw one vlog where the vlogger says to mix in A5s into their 4bet and 5bet range as a bluff and they are trying it out misusing the concept. Also see a lot of recs overplay AK and 10 10-QQ pre deep stacked

You keep using the terms "deep and shallow",,,what does that mean please?
Deep and shallow refers to stack sizes. As in if you have a chip stack equal to 300 big blinds, you will make different decisions than you would if you have 25 big blinds.

Play tighter in position, play looser out if position, seems to be the basic concept.. Im not going to start nit-picking suited ace hands over a few bb's. When I do this, I find I miss out on good opportunities. Ir, maybe im just calling too wide, idk.
i can barely shoot a free throw. nba players shooting pull up 3 pointers from 26 feet to me seems ridiculous….make layups, take close shots, seems to be the basic concept. i’m not going to be able to ever hit pull up three pointers i’ll take two points instead. when i shoot those, i always miss. maybe i’m just shooting with the wrong hand, idk.

What has always confused me is that we want to minimize the paid rake and therefore play preflop 3bet only, but aren't we just making the pot bigger and ultimately paying more rake?
they're gonna take the same amount of rake whether the pot is $50 or $500. helps us when the rake is 1% of most the pots we play rather than 10%.
Also, most places do not charge a rake when there is no flop. That's another reason to 3bet rather than call.
Yeah, the assumption here is that there is a cap on the rake such as 7$ as in L.A cash games. Not 100% what we are doing when the rake cap is 300$ or 50$ maybe leave the casino?
