Hey Jonathan. I'm a truck driver so I've been watching and listening to your cash game strategy videos while I drive, and I've been grinding .25/ .50 sent online and I ran it up this weekend. Not nearly as many mistakes after I've listened to you! Your awesome and thanks!
i live and play tournaments in las vegas, i play many events in the WSOP each year. I do deepstack tournaments weekly at the Wynn and Venetian, and i keep track of when i play suited connectors. I very very rarely hit suited connectors, and if u do hit. Then u have to fear a larger flush or straight, so if u play suited connectors you have to be able to fold them if u hit sometimes. I play suited connectors if i can limp in or min raise and in good position. Nowadays, many people 3 bet suited connectors, but i rarely raise suited connectors unless i am in position....It also depends your stack size to play them a lot
87clubs early position. Turn clubs, jam. Johnny callemall says show me the flush. Spikes 4th club on river J high. Early position suited cards 10 and above. Imho. Lesson learned.
@4:40 hey @pokercoaching Jonathan, love your stuff man! Question: with poker itself, tv shows, solvers and just general population trends happening all the time, how often do these ranges change or adapt vs population? Take SB 3bet vs BTN - was 96 ALWAYS a call? Even before solvers? I'm often curious how much these preflop ranges are changing from year-to year, month-to-month, etc? Like how A5s got super popualr for a year lol...
T9 , first i ask myself how much would i bet if i wanted a call? because if i want a call i sure don't want to scare him off so sometimes smallish bets look scary to them for that reason and i might get the fold i really want, i'd bet around half pot . and if i miss the river depending on the card i'm prepared to go for it . hmm big huh? well that's why i listen to ya !
I dont have much evidence here, but against weaker players I like to show tons of info. Because i feel like they are not going to correctly adjust and will only make MORE mistakes.
What's a suited connector? Honestly, when I play at Aria I'm convinced unicorns are less rare. Tell me how to play J3 off... i get that hand every other deal.
I love suited connectors, but depends on your luck too. You can flop the world infront of you, down in the hand but 56% equity vs your opponents hand. Poker is poker hahaha
I am not a big time so called professional players but i could beat anyone when on lucky streak. Poker is mostly part skill on betting pattern and luck. That’s all.
It's possible to make profit with suited connector type of hands but they're not the most profitable hands. Most of your long term profit is gonna come from the top left of the preflop range chart, where the top 5% of hands reside.
T9ss on the turn I'd bet 7K into 8K. Putting a small pair in a tough spot. If you overbet I think they have an easy fold and although that's a good result putting your opponent in tough spots is superior to putting them in clear spots.
I’m going to be honest here, most of this is going way over my head, and I will never use any of this knowledge. But I’m watching it nonetheless. This feels like the equivalent of an art major with no college math credits walking into a level 400 calculus class. I missed all the intro courses that would have prepared me for this type of discussion. So much so that I’m not even understanding the terminology being used. I’m just very lost.
4:35 This reaction by BU vs SB's 3-bet seems like a punt. In cash games 100BB deep, K2-K8s are clear folds. You don't get to call with gappers besides T8s. How could tournament 80BB deep be this different? I'm confused.
A lot of people are saying the RNG at Global Poker has an algorithm to help bad cards win more than their fair share. Can any pro or someone in the know confirm or deny?
@@RCTricking It's all over the internet friend. If you think unaccountable corporations or humans are not capable of doing bad things and cheating then you must have just woke up out of a coma. It's more likely these days that people would put money over any morals.
@johnryan3102 Asking questions like this will activate trolls and net you nothing else. SolveForWhy has some episodes devoted to bot rings that are somewhat interesting, but your specific question won't be addressed in any forum that doesn't require you to wear a tinfoil hat in the presence of other members. I played on Ignition for a year or so and managed to run $400 up to $7000 and back down to $3600 before I cashed out. The run from $7000 to $3600 was ridiculous. No coolers, just flopping the nuts or effective nuts, getting it all-in versus suited trash and watching their miracle cards come literally every time. If you've lost faith in the platform you're playing on, it's time to cash out and find another game. I started making ridiculous folds and strange exploits that were somehow always correct and *felt* like it was a matter of time before the security team locked my account, so I bailed out and haven't looked back. Online play is sketchy and it's more likely that you're playing against bots or being colluded against than being cheated by a corrupt RNG. For me personally, I'd have felt like a huge chump if I ignored my gut instinct that something wasn't right with the site and continued to play and run my balance to zero, so I took my profit and won't go back.
I think that typically, peoples brains play tricks on them and blame the rng. 72o is supposed to win against AK very often, sometimes it just doesn't feel that way.
Deep stacked on the BTN facing an EP raise, would you rather have T9s or 76s? 🤔
10 9
76s
Deepstacked 76. Medium stack I want the 9 10 so I cover the 66-88 part of their range

suited connetors go down in value in tournaments 30bbs and lower. Really good deep stacked in a cash game
I agree but I do like them early in a tournament because they can really boost your stack when connecting when players are looser early on.
you still need to play them in position or in the blinds

steal those pots in late position! especially when you have outs!
On the J967 board my instinct here was to check call/raise...... Should we not ever be going for the check raise here? Or even check call?

Not typically good to give opponents any more information than absolutely necessary.
i like to especially early on , i want them to think i always have it .
what about out of position situations? I know they shouldn't be played but what if my stack is big$
I never lose with suited connectors. I always fold them.

10:30 I think it's a 66% or 75% pot bet on that board with how the action has gone
Could we mix in some passive play with draws?
Passive play multi way i think is ideal

you fold preflop
You go all in every single time. Sometimes they’ll fold. Think about it.
Those ones you should just fold preflop, so no need to worry about how to play them postflop!

Most of your long term profit is gonna come from the top left of the preflop range chart, where the top 5% of hands reside.
In a tournament you don't have time to wait for these hands. Not only that but you wont get action when you get them if you appear a nit.

and barrel river whether you make it or miss it, close to pot 20-25BB except if maybe a jack comes since pairs improve the likelihood of winning.
Hard to stop losing when they keep spiking
Keep grinding and staying focused on the things that you can control.
Ain't no way I'm calling the turn in the 86s hand. Back door flush draw? Never happens.
A lot of this is dependant n competition and stakes, vs casino play and playing with real players.
You need to be able to bluff and win pots when you miss.

Perhaps because tournaments usually have a bb ante so the pot is c. 66% bigger.
18:47 but can't overplaying marginal hands and playing aggressively to steal pots be the same play ?
You don't want it to be! Marginal hands, there's no need to steal the pot. You can just check and when the pot.
Hello
Hi!
But they're suited!!!
10:28 …. Bet 12k (80% pot)
That UTG+1 open chart looks really wide. Like I dont think K10 os should ever be an open there or the lower suited kings for that matter
10k
Overbetting in small Stakes Games is Not very effective. That's my experience . People don't call these big hands with marginal Hands
That sounds like bluffing using an overbet sizing is going to be very effective.
