    With the quads, what about river check rather than 2/3? Think you’re completely right in that no one raises IP enough here but then we give his Kx the chance to value bet (which they’ll always do) and then hero call vs x/j rather than just always call vs a bet. Likewise we let villain bluff the air in his range too of which there’ll still be plenty.
    Consider that my audition for jumping on the channel and reviewing some more of your hands 👀😂

    • @BenaBadBeatPoker
      @BenaBadBeatPoker  6 дней назад +1

      do you mean the royal hand rather than the quads hand yeah? definitely could check river there yeah but i really do think that when a rec is snap calling flop and turn, they're more inclined to snap check back river - i dunno, prob projecting a bit too much. haha ok you are added to the list of potentials mate!

    I feel like the question on the turn is simply whether or not he is overfolding to the raise.
    If the answer is no, then bluff raise probably doesn't make sense.
    On river I think we should ask if he's overfolding as opposed to if he has hands to fold.
    Feel like we need to keep it simple.
    If fish tend to overdefend high absolute high value hands it probably doesn't make sense to bluff boards where pairs become boats.

    On the forst hand V the rec you mentioned he was wide and expected him to even cal flip with hands like 95s, so he clearly overvalues hands in every situation if he plays this pre, calls raise , calls flop etc. So if we have the read he overvalues hands then leads and calls V our turn raise why do we try to bluff him lol? Seems like we used all the info poor here and let ego play this hand for us! Which happens done it myself in the moment also! If I saw this band played at the table I would tag you and him as recs 😂

    • @BenaBadBeatPoker
      @BenaBadBeatPoker  6 дней назад

      yeah i see what you're saying. well i think your logic applies to the river, not really the turn. if we expect them to donk too much trash then our raise should clean up a bunch of these hands, but once called, shutting down could easily just be the best play yep. and yeah, fish tag me mate :D i prob deserve it

    • @madwithoutit
      @madwithoutit 6 дней назад

      Yeah I’m meaning with the turn information the bluff is silly.. also with guys that are literally giving the money away, I wouldn’t even take this much of a high variance line v them, when you take his chips in so many other ways easily enough anyway. Thanks for adding it though it’s a cool hand with the information of a whale rather than hands played more standard each spot!

    Just a quick one, at around 4:54, what is the theory behind being allowed to bet small sizes here (I read a lot that generally IP doesn't reopen unless it's for a larger size)
    Cheers

    • @BenaBadBeatPoker
      @BenaBadBeatPoker  6 дней назад +1

      hey mate. just to confirm, my sizing on the turn is not ‘good’ here but I’ll answer your question more broadly. I think you may be referring to IP blocking when on the river. this is the general node where you will ordinarily either size up or check rather than size down. on turns however, blocking makes a lot of sense for a number of reasons, but most importantly equity and/or ev shifts. so for example in this AK hand, I am betting a lot more Ax on the flop that out of position is calling. there are numerous other things going on here too but that is the simplest way to understand the reason to bet small on the turn here

    • @thomaspearce7282
      @thomaspearce7282 6 дней назад

      @BenaBadBeatPoker Okay got you. So in the 'general case' it can make sense block turn when IP (even if SPR is high) and it's just less of a thing on river?
      Appreciate the help 😅😅

    • @BenaBadBeatPoker
      @BenaBadBeatPoker  6 дней назад +1

      when spr is big, ip blocking does happen a lot less (sorry to be confusing hahaha). but in lower spr spots there is plenty of blocking ip when it calls for it. I know this is all very vague

    • @BenaBadBeatPoker

      my advice would be to take small and frequent shots mate. don’t wait til you have 100bi and shot take for 20-30bi (this can add too much pressure and stress) but if you take a 2-3bi shot every so often when you’re feeling super confident in your game, this is a fantastic way to manage anxiety/swings

    If you remember I'm a HU player that's actually v well versed in battling huge spewtards whales. The KQo hand actually quite a tricky one. I've already seen the outcome of it, so I have the benefit of hindsight.
    All I'll say is I really don't like the turn raise my gut reaction was that it was bad. Let me go into some detail as to why. First off you really didn't breakdown his range. You say he merges and he could have Ahi, but does he float flop wide? Could he have T9, QT, Q9?, 54s? Without delving into hands that are weaker than yours and trying to calculate your rough equity youve actually missed a part of where your EV comes from. The second part to this is Ahi on a trip board on the turn is actually a strongish hand. Itll have 45% at least, and probably closer to 55%. That's not a weak hand whatsoever. The last part which you know, and the fish might know is are you really raising AA-77 or quads? Given I've seen your style I think you know the answer is no.
    Going back to the hand I think I just call turn, and make a difficult deicions on the river. Probabaly fold on rivers T-7 and call 5 and less, and probably calling an Aces rivers too.

    • @BenaBadBeatPoker
      @BenaBadBeatPoker  6 дней назад

      great breakdown mate! gotta say that I generally trim so much speech cus it’s overwhelming for the viewer and I keep the shortened version of things.
      what do you mean I wouldn’t raise 77-AA and quads? 150bb deep these are supreme mandatory raises vs this player type. not sure exactly why you think I wouldn’t raise thick value hands here. therefore I think jumping to the conclusion that Ahi has up to 55% eq is a bit of a stretch!
      all that said, I’m not gunna disagree that raising turn and/or shoving river is no good.

    13:15 I really don’t like the call from the utg. In real game I just think it’s to rare to see any1 bluffing in this spot or jam a k trying to off chop utg’s kx. This is pretty much kq+ so utg is only going to call for chop which is pretty bad.

    the KQ on 6JJJ8.
    like you are a professional doing this full time with money that many people would literally kill for to obtain. need some mental game if you even consider raise here vs turn donk.
    i am sure you were bullied when you were young, so was I, but just cos this rec is a bully, no need to satisfy that primal need to get him back. you are trying to make money not lose it.
