For splashy games, makes sense to forget about polarized as they usually just call, the 3bet should be the minimum price to try to get it heads up, not fold equity.

You said the smaller the blinds are the less incentive there is to play, which is technically true, but not in the context you said it in, which was the odds ratio given by call/bet size B and pot size P. B:P is typically invariant here because a differently-sized BB implies a proportionately differently sized minimum call/bet, given the same BB:SB ratio. The BB:SB ratio is also nearly invariant with regards to stake sizes. The emergent variable that is important to consider here is the ratio given by the stack sizes and the pot size (and thus a variant of the blinds.) I don't doubt that you understand tis principle but I think it's important to clear up as far as explanation goes.

Seems it's harder to make a combined 3betting range chart, as a lot of hands mix in different positions and not in a progressive way.
Maybe its better to think more in polarized vs linear terms.

Question about the blockers visualisation at 10:45. Why does it play J5o but not J5s, when on the queens it the other way around the suited side goes lower?
I love the very last point about not overestimating. I still think buying for 40 BB and building a stack is an optimal strategy for long term play, particularly with prohibitive buy-in formats, and especially to combat rake...
Rake is multiplied when stacking-off a big stack, meaning a big stack that's played many pots and hence paid rake several times already. You get raked $5 on the hand you win, but the stack you stacked had already paid perhaps $50 or $100 in rake. Buying short eliminates or mitigates the "hidden" cost of rake, as does stacking off vs. larger stacks in general. If the bigger stack is larger than yours by an amount greater or equal to the rake they've already paid, you don't lose any extra hidden rake.
This is the perfect way to play against a person who is using the exact same thing. And the varying of play when you notice a person is bluffing too much or folding too much is interesting. In low stakes games, have to raise more pre-flop and need to bludd less typically where I play

As in this situation (where UTG to BU folded), we are going to be dealt AA more than 22, shouldn't we input that in the solver ? And of course input the bunching adjusted BB defending range too ?

Spot on. Unfortunately there aren't many tools to account for this effect and automatically adjust the distribution of ranges/deck (yet). You can do it manually though using a lot of math.

i wonder how my calling range in the BB looks like as a german (zero rakeback) microstakes (super high rake) player? must be super tight. jeremiah williams said that A9o is a fold vs a 2.5bb open from the BU in such an environment. so i wonder if i actually start folding (unless i 3b) ATo vs a 3bb open. so yeah, my BB range must be super nitty but how nitty exactly?

Everything sounds so complicated to me, hope it get easyer. I mean I win or make it far in low stake Tournants and I do understand a few things, but once it gets deeper. Man it´s so confusing.
I get that you are supposed to play as per chart as it’s profitable play long term. Just busted a tournament where I was card dead for so long. Everytime get a good hand, open get called and people lead jam!!!
I just wonder if your 3bet size BB vs BTN is 5.2x the open raise (13bb) vs 2.5bb. How do u approach a 3 or 3.5 bb open raise?

I've studied a few sims where you force the solver to open large. Generally what happens is that hands will switch from calls to raise/folds. Your pot odds are much worse facing this size, but you get a better risk/reward on a raise.
One of the other side effects is that, due to the raise/fold strategies, the RFI switches to blocker-heavy combos, as it knows it will face a raise more often than a call, so postflop playability becomes less important than blocking raises.

So basically u keep the 5.2 ratio throw out the calls and tightn the raising range? Or does the disbalance already gets counterfittet thru of the lagging of calls?
Intriguing that solvers prefer the smaller size from early position. It makes perfect sense with the reasoning given, but is the opposite to what I've been taught. I guess it comes down to the fact that most games (especially small stakes) are not 3-betting nearly enough and so early position I'd rather use a nice big size to stop me from going into large multi-way pots out of position (because so many callers). Late position I'm not so scared of the blinds hopping in so I'm fine to give a smaller price to call. Not something I'm likely to change at the stakes I play at, but interesting to know that's an exploitative strategy and actually opposite to GTO.
Yes! Prior to the advent of solvers, the opposite strategy was taught. It's good to understand the exploitative dynamics behind opening size

just right from the start, the logic is.... had no one play no hand, u risk nothing, anyone play any hand, u risk what u end up putting to win whatever they put in. eitherway it can be risking infinite to win little or nothing

I have a question about thesholds. When looking at the chart you would only ever play a hand if you have LJ position or better. Is it really like that? Should I fold a pair of aces if I don't have LJ position?

34:51 I don't get why we are folding A6s and A2s while calling A7s at full frequency. They don't seem that much different against that nitty range.
A6 and A2 are generally considered the worst AX combos. A7s is verrry close to breakeven only slightly better.

I've been trying out the free GTO WIZARD Preflop for NL50, 9 Max. I'd like to try Subscription but I don't see 9 max Preflop for NL100, NL200 & NL500 (9 Max). Are these included in Subscription?
At the moment, 9max is restricted to NL50. We'll be adding more 9max rake structures soon. Keep in mind the 6max ranges still work for a 9max game so long as you're playing LJ or later positions.

Based on his comment that if there's no blinds the only hand you should play is AA... If you open/raise in a 2/2NL game in Jacksonville & everyone folds, they rake one for the house & one for the promo & you win $2.00 because they rake even if there's no flop. So all you've won is one of the two blinds the next time it's your turn to post blinds. It isn't even the fact that because there are blinds & you have to post them every orbit that forces people to play more than AA. It's not because there is money to be won if everyone folds. The same thing holds true if you're playing at your house with no rake & the blinds are $5/$5 with the Big Blind posting a $25 ante. Everyone could just fold every hand and nobody ever play & nobody loses any money if there is no rake. You could just take turns dealing the cards & folding while chatting about sports. It's because we've come to play poker that you see people VPIP. Blinds simply induce action. You could get a group of players who take up all seats at a table when the BBJ is $300k & everyone agree to fold unless they have 77+ & nobody call unless they also have a BBJ hand & then square up at the end of your 10 hour session. The problem is the House will bring a stop to it. It is the fact that having to post blinds increases your sunk cost to play poker that induces action, not that you can win $3 in a 1/2NL game if you open/raise & everyone folds.
If everyone folds in a $5/$5 game, the first person to start opening hands wins. If everyone folds in a no-blind game, the first person to start opening hands can be exploited, because everyone else can just call/raise with better.
Like you said, it is the fact that having to post blinds increases your sunk cost to play poker that induces action. This is what it absolutely comes down to, the video just phrases it more technically.

Hello, we take this very seriously, that's why we have developed a protection system. If you trigger it, you will get blocked access. First for 24 hours, then if you continue trigerring our security limit, your account will end up getting banned.
Please give an example of "Use bluffs with better implied odds postflop rather than focusing on blockers." in the combat calling section.
For example, low suited connectors do well when called, but don't block raises. These are the types of bluffs that do better against an opponent who calls a lot. Conversely, some Ace-X/King-X hand at the bottom of your calling range would make a better bluff against an opponent who is likely to fold or 4bet

Q9s acts as a semibluff to help balance the range and get the rest of your value paid. The raising strategy is polarized, using bluffs from the bottom of its continue range that also happen to block villain's continues and can outdraw their calls.

No one can beat the odds of Texas Hold 'Em no matter what strategy is employed, even if the person plays said strategy of choice to perfection, which is impossible as well. People need to approach the game as a game and hope that this particular time is their time to be the luckiest and win the tournament or walk away from a cash game as a winner.
We all know what it's like to hit every out we needed and then to never hit one of 15-18 outs when we needed. It's a game of luck, know the tendencies of the people you are playing with and you will take their money. Play with people you dont know and it's a matter of luck and the desire to 'gamble' that night that will determine your success.
The same way the stock market is based in luck. Or starting a business, or doing anything really. Luck is involved in everything, but with a strategy and a plan you can get an edge.
@@lokwa2149 The stock market isnt luck. People need things like tires, gasoline, food, natural gas and other stuff every day. Buying stock in those companies is as safe a bet as can be made.
There's a difference between skill-based gambling and playing slots. In most gambling games, you're trying to beat the house (impossible). In poker, you only need to beat the other players. While there's certainly a lot of luck involved, the strongest players consistently beat out the rest of the field over the long term.

It only works if your opponent plays the same way you do, positions, ranges and bet sizes doesn't matter with donks. That's why Phil tilts when he gets beat by hands that has shouldn't have made it at the first place He's a great player don't get me wrong, he just expects others to play the way he knows how to ooooor, hear me out. What I’ve noticed in all of these GTO videos is that very much of the strategy depends on your opponents tendencies…which is a basic tenet of poker. The chart literally fluctuates based upon how your opponent plays. So good luck memorizing every bet, every action on every street vs every different type of opponent. This is basic strategy of black jack on major steroids. Except you’ve got infinite different opponents strategies to map it out against as opposed to a black jack dealer who always does the same exact thing.
The problem with gto is obviously pop doesn't play gto
I frequently raise 4, 5, 6, or 7bb (if first to raise; how large depending on position ) just to make gto fold and only aiming for x1 caller.
So I guess this stuff is still good to know but you gotta be ready to adapt depending on who's at poker table.

If there were no blinds, then you have no incentive to open. Sure, you can model whatever suboptimal strategy you like, but understanding this basic concept is key to preflop mechanics.
