    Regarding backing into parking spaces versus going into the spaces moving forward -- I have had a good bit of professional driver training for passenger cars and minivans for delivery. This professional training encourages whenever possible to back into parking spaces because it is SO MUCH SAFER to go FORWARD OUT OF a parking space. There are very few safety issues when backing into such spaces - other than the irritation factor for others since backing into parking takes a little longer. A PERSON backing into a space must pay closer attention but a vehicle with those cameras all around it and the intelligence to do so, will not have such issues.

      Well here some experiences from Europe that besides China still exists with a strong economy. We drive fully electric for 10 years but own an EV only for two years and after 54 years of mainly German Premium. Our strategy as a non-Tesla owner is home and destination charging at hotel that offer reserved garage with charger. We mostly charge in 10 SECONDS and have climatized car in the morning. Then like for 90% the distance of healthy 500 km (over 300 miles) is just enough. Ususally we need to charge only once every fortnight and even in winter we in our Swiss mountains had no range problems. We charge with PV and cheap water electricity so our Kia EV6 AWD has the best TCO ever and not one issue in two years. Even my BMW and Mercedes had ALWAYS be in workshop shortly after delivery. For free mostly but costing my time and that in my business counts!🤬💰Also every of our Teslas in the company starting from Roadster 1.0 now with improved battery pack is performing over expectations. The minor issues we definitely had with EVERY ICE-manufacturer too, are just ordinary things that company with 100 years of tradition have! So most about Tesla or EV is just stupid 💩🤬🤡🦄 from idiots and paid whores, called analysts and journalists that get money from big oil that has no interest in loosing their slaves. We now are FREE from that gas station and even as replacement public HPC chargers that only work at TESLA but not the stealers with the felt 20 cards and chargers that do not perform as promised. 🤬 So our strategy seems perfect to us and our business partners and even at our golf 🏌️ club today here in Switzerland and German Premium country there are more S3XY cars that Volkswagen Beetles in its best years. The share price now does not reflect what here in Europe or China is really happening and a clear ‚buy‘ for those living in real world! It’s so obvious and there is NO advertising while competition invests millions in fake tests and campaigns. Lost money from shareholders so buying X is the much better deal and only idiots ask to split up the company that by then use’s SYNERGIES and has no more channel to reach the market. How long does it take to understand a long term business with a strong vision attracting the best people in what they do working perfectly together?

      Never had my ICE filled up at my house while I was asleep. Nobody talking about that. Why don't they do that? Also, Gas costs too much. To keep up with Tesla they need to cut prices by 30%! $2.89/gallon? Needs to be more like $2.02/gallon! Maybe ICE dealers need to offer free gas for the lifetime of the vehicle? BTW lifetime of an ICE vehicle is only 3 years 36,000 miles.

      I have a model 3 perf and I do feel like a slightly bigger battery, maybe 400 or 500 mile range, would significantly reduce range anxiety. It’s going to be a while before we get something like that. Most people won’t need it, but for a lot of us it would make a big difference. I drive alot. And all those extra electronics in the Tesla suck up battery. I have stopped using the security system because of how much it drains my battery. I would like to be able to use it without stressing.

And in every case everyone on the staff looked at me like I had two heads. Their staff are completely clueless about FSD. I have to go and look on the computer screens of all the cars to see if they have FSD version 12 and so far I've never found one that did. So I still cannot test drive a Tesla with FSD version 12.

    80% is too low, slow charging should be used at least 95% of the time. Level 2 charging should be everywhere. Fifteen 11kW chargers use the same amount of electricity as one 150kW fast charger. Charging cars in parallel makes more sense than in series. Fast charging should *only* be used for long trips and be charged for the time charging. This would discourage people from charging to full at fast chargers.

    Tesla Semi performance in other units - 1.10 kWh/km, ~4.0kJ/m. 0.909km/kWh, 0.565 miles/kWh. Tesla initially said it was better than 0.5 miles/kWh - so an over performance.

      The one I noticed was the last trip, 81 miles at 1.466kW/ mile.
      That would (probably) be "Tractor only" consumption (no trailer in the pictures)
      Much lighter but probably worse aero.
      .
      Maybe a smart person could gain some insight from that?

    • @peteregan3862
      @peteregan3862 Месяц назад +1

      Making something of that. If we assume 50% of all the journeys were loaded, and the last one wasn't, it says the difference between loaded and unloaded is 0.6kW/mile. Thus loaded would average 2.072KWh/mile.
      So, on this sample of one, while loaded is slightly over what Tesla promised, the important total cost of ownership calculation had an excellent figure of 1.77kWh/mile. If a company was paying 15c/kWh for electricity, that is 27c/mile. Diesel semis ave 6 mile/gallon and a gallon of diesel in Nevada costs 4.24 on average at the moment. That is 71c/mile. So, these figures show fuel cost for a Semi in Nevada at 38% of diesel costs. We could round to 40%. Then there are maintenance savings. Lower costs for large EV will drive market prices below the costs for diesels.

    Could an LFP Battery be viable for the short range Semi? Can anyone from the US comment on the weight limits?
    That could be an absolute banger product. Looking at the charging curve of the BYD LFP Blade batteries, the fast charging speed could make up for the lower range. A real workhorse for short and mid range trucking. At reasonable cost and good margins for Tesla.

    Backing into spots allows you to pull forward when you are pulling out. And this allows much better vision of cross traffic and pedestrians. This is proven, by accident statistics, to be the safer way to pull in and pull out. Backing out results in more accidents, so the engineers made the safest choice.
    Some people think backing in is harder. They're just poorly trained or poor drivers.
