My 88 year-old father refused to even try FSD in his model 3 he has owned for 2 years. He tried V12 after I insisted this weekend, and he loves it and has subscribed. V12 is such a radical step change.
It, is but it's not FSD and if you purchased a Tesla recently you'll also note that there are features are not implemented.
@@craighermle7727 I have no idea what you are saying.
There's a video from a couple weeks ago where v12 blew straight thru two stop signs and cut straight across 3 lanes marked with solid white lines. It still has a long way to go.
@@bobbybishop5662 What's your point?
Love hearing stories like this. 🥰
Even people that have teslas need to be educated.
I drove from Colorado Springs to Vegas, then along California Coast up to San Francisco. FSD 12.3.4 did over 95% of the driving. Drove back to Vegas, and 99% was FSD. I Love It and can't wait for .5 update. Hope it comes before my drive to the Grand Canyon on Friday and then back to Colorado Springs. I am a new Tesla owner, got my Model Y LR on 1 March. My only issue thus far is other Tesla owners parking right next to you at a Superchargers when tons are available farther down the line. Everyone I spoke with had no idea that it can cut your charge rate in half for both cars if they are on the same feed. Let's educate everyone.
The supercharging next to one another is only for the 150V version 2 units. The version 3 and 4 do not have the sharing problem, so be aware of what type you are at before getting upset.
You have to look, but charger 1A is not always next to 1B. A charger near me, from left to right are 1A, 2A, 3A, 1B, 2B, 3B, 4A, 4B. It was originally a 6 stall charging, then 2 more were added, I'm assuming.
@joewiley6927 250V dropped to 125V as soon as the other Teslas plugged in. The V3 Superchargers are still limited by the input power. A 4 station V3 charger must share 350kw across the 4 stalls - you can not pull 250kw simultaneously from all 4 stalls.
@@shallenberger57 appreciate the education!
Were you paying attention to the road during your trip? Then you were doing 100% of the driving.
"Tesla needs to spend a significant amount of money on a mass educational campaign." Spot on, Dillon, Anyone interested in owning a better vehicle, can afford ~$35k etc and doesn't want a Tesla is misinformed.
I topped off my partially filled Prius tank $37. My Tesla Model Y even with the inflated California utility prices ($0.35/kWh) does that same range for $24 - in a significantly better vehicle - that drives itself. (A family member who's had a BMW for ten years said she's thinking of buying another one. A year ago she was interested in a Tesla. My son who's owned a few Beemers was surprised it hadn't had the series of expensive breakdowns endemic to BMWs and Mercedes Benz's.)
A Beemer is a BMW cycle. A Beamer is a BMW car.
Tesla maintenance data is probably skewed to the high side for several reasons.
- The only Teslas over 6 yo are the most expensive S and X.
- The early builds are notoriously bad.
- Repair shops were hard to come by until recently and that drove up costs.
- Traditional dealers make their money from repairs.
So I expect the Tesla maintenance costs to be even lower going forward. Agree?
No. They are in a quality control / service centre spiral.
Too focused on getting vehicles out the factory, with many preventable defects.
As their popularity increases, the SC's can keep up.
Spare parts had and remains an issue, and the fact you have limited authorised repair options.
So insurance costs are terrible in many parts of the world.
Look at the Cybertruck debacle. Accelerator peddle recall, and dozens and dozens of CT's breaking down.
@@stuartburns8657 "No. They are in a quality control / service centre spiral.

Incorrect. The volume is in Model 3 and Y which does have great quality.
"Look at the Cybertruck debacle. Accelerator peddle recall, and dozens and dozens of CT's breaking down."
As if new models from other brands haven't had recalls? The Cybertruck production haven't ramped up. This particular problem will have no effect in the future maintenance data.
My Tesla has no maintenance schedule.
The maintenance costs for years 6-10 were six times as much as for years 1-5. That was probably due to older cars having poor build quality. I would expect that the costs for years 6-10 will drop significantly as time goes on. The only cost that wouldn't drop would be tires.
These current headwinds may be the best thing for shareholders, it has refocused Musk’s attention back to Tesla. For a while he might have thought it was a well oiled machine and now realizes he needs to take back the reins… we’ll see, but Im cautiously optimistic.
Another great job Mr Dillon thanks👍 Keep th faith !!!
Nobody who owns a CyberTruck paid $12k for FSD. All CT owners bought a Foundation Series which costs $20k and INCLUDES FSD among other features (which are worth thousands of dollars) plus you get CT earlier (like many brands do with initial release of new products)

Price cuts are about gaining market share. Tesla has pretty good modeling, no price changes occurs without justification.
all the other players already have cowered from the last price cuts . TEsla is the market share leader. However , this one is about the economy and Elon just being an ass.
You are missing the point, as are Tesla.
The strength of the dealership model is that it hides these minor adjustments to pricing while reacting to demand. The headline manufacturers sticker price remains relatively constant and the dealers adjust how they negotiate around to fit the circumstances. Its essentially private information if you are paying over or under the odds. It's quite the opposite with Tesla and it comes across as inconsistent and arbitrary.
Making half your customers look publicly foolish for overpaying every few months isn't very clever.

Your request for Elon to talk more about Tesla is going to backfire tomorrow as it always does. Not being negative it is historical.
For sure.
Elon will delight in being silly and refusing to state the bleeding obvious for Wall St, and they'll give him a good smack for refusing to even try. He'll broad brush stroke some nebulous 10 year vision, and they'll ask about the next quarter and what to do about the Model 2 being 50% of their stock price modelling.
Both will trash the other in disgruntled and pointless social media, posts to the detriment of everyone else involved. Just like every time Elon jumps on an earnings call and this time there is no Zack or Drew to catch the ball.
Elon and Tesla have handled the run in to the Quarters end horribly. They have been side swiped by the Reuters article and don't have the resources to handle the backlash. Tesla has got railroaded into its 8/8 announcement to prop up the share price.
Elon wilful refuses to understand bugger all about public relations, marketing or advertising and interestingly doesn't seem to understand the differences. Seems his obsession with "free speech" rather undermines his ability to understand or answer a simple question.
My revivifier has responded to Consumer Reports and is a research scientist: Doc dismisses CR "self report" data as invalid. Did no respondent buy tires in 5 years? Tesla's weakness is educating the average driver. (AKA General Public) Most people I take for a ride are still confused by the button to open the door, the widow adjusting, and the center screen. IMHO Tesla has a very long way to go before the average driver will get behind the wheel of a Tesla. 6 years Tesla owner and investor, hope that Tesla didn't take a wrong turn putting the Cybertruck before the so called "Model 2". FSD is just an accident away from being an albatross on Tesla. (And fault will not matter.)
Gary Black is correct
Tesla could have made all the adjustments by 0% financing or included FSD
Included FSD is like an $8000 price cut.
Maybe for those who must pay monthlies but it’s the price that got me in. ‘24 MYLR in February.
@@incognitotorpedo42. FSD is an option not everyone wants. Being able to buy a AWD Model Y out the door for under $45,000 meant more to me. I got 3 months free FSD as a Referral perk anyway.
Assuming a $50K car with 10% down and a typical interest rate of 7% on a 72 month loan, offering a 0% rate would cost Tesla $10,238 per car. Kind of expensive.
Tesla low balled me on my trade in of a Lexus RC 350 F sport, 60k miles. then and offered me 7.8 % interest for am 802 credit score.
I have 3.2% now on my car. . The model 3 was impressive, but they are not willing to budge in a high interest rate , the trade in value, or the price. So Ill wait it out a couple of years . Then Ill buy some stock at $90 just to add make my deal honest. And for the Record , the richest man in America laying off 10-20% of his workforce after being an such an ass to them to perform while demanding to be paid 56 billions is more ludicrous than anything Ive heard in a long time. What an asshole , with no heart. 56 billion while he sends 10% of his staff to the soup lines. FUck that.

hey dillon, the other day you talked about how tesla semi is deelayed and we dont really know whats going on.
also the megapack factory in china is deelayed and given how good the margins are plus the fact that there should be
"infinite" demand make me think that they would be building this factory asap.
do you have any insight about whats going on there?
Great content Dillon,. Yes we desparately need educational adds, there is so much I don't know about Tesla and have been invested in Tesla since 2000 but don't own one. I represent the price conscious buyer, I have solar but need 240V in garage and insurance cost and info are hard to come by. AAA does not even cover Teslas. If I started to invest before 2018 price would not have been an issue. I am still increasing my holdings.
Tesla can spend a ton of money on ads. However, the public doesn’t get it until they drive it. BTW, FSD 12.3 is incredible.
I don't understand the YT reviews on the latest FSD release. I don't get it as my Model 3 is Hdw 2.5 but he has Hdw 3 and his opinion is it is a marginal improvement over 11 but still can't do simple lane management. The other day he was making a left turn at a light with 3 left turn lanes. It selected the middle lane, a reasonable choice, then in the middle of the intersection it changed lanes to the left and cut off the guy in that lane. He had to take control so no serious danger but OMG 12 years and it can't maintain lane awareness.
I could understand if it had corner issues but it cannot reliably execute the most basic control functions. I am not talking about decisions, is that car going to do something stupid? No simple lane control.
I still want to know how RoboTaxi is going to handle a simple issue that I get nearly every day. I drive home from the gym every morning between 7:30 and 8:00 AM. Every morning the car tells me that one or more of the cameras are blinded and may restrict AP or something like that. I ignore it as I never use AP on city streets but what will RoboTaxi do, pull over and wait for the sun to go higher or lower?
Yeah, what happened to the three big breakthroughs he talked about in Mid March? One every two weeks?
12.4, 12.5 and 12.6 is supposed to be the big 3 changes, not these dot releases of 12.3.
I believe he said by end of April or into May
I seem to recall that one or more RUclipsrs stated, about 6 months ago, that 2024 was going to be a challenging year for TSLA. So, far they are correct and I am looking for a buying opportunity.
It was the discounts they were offering for in-stock Model Y's that prompted me to go ahead and purchase a 2024.
Add to that the new rules for point of sale $7,500 discount for us average wage earners after January 1. Worked for me.
8:22 Guess that means no 12.4 before the end of the free trial on April 30th; so much for that optimistic projection as the trial started rolling out.
Tesla "SAID" that they will roll out FSD to everyone for a free trial. Many weeks later, I haven't been offered it.
I just talked to a friend of mine in CA who bought his M3 a year ago and said he just got notified of the free 1 month FSD. Looks like they are not sending it to everyone at the same time. He has no plans to use it. He prefers to drive the car himself. He doesn't even use the normal cruse control.
If you haven't done so already, go into your software settings in the car and set "Updates" to "Advanced". This often triggers an update within 3 days if one is available.
Great with Savings-calculator that I've sent 100 emails to Tesla to do...but why not include ALLCSAVINGS , WHY only gasoline savings?? With ALL saving that Model 3= FREE after 10 years!! Especially compared with a BMW 3 series.
Price cuts triggered the purchase of Tesla model 3 and Y for myself and two daughters.
Earth day really needs to be everyday
Model 2 under $25K, FSD, Tesla insurance and I’m in
Yes, price reduction for the base models, but my MX Plaid in Stealth Grey is now 600 € more, since all other colours than white are now, again, extra (at least here in Germany).
I hate FSD. I tried it out during the free trial and it was OK driving in it's lane, but it took forever to make a right turn on red and it was constantly in the wrong lane.
Tesla could crowdsource creative pro looking ads for free. They can make a competition, pick 10 top ones.
To be honest that's the problem with Tesla and advertising, nobody at the company understands what the are doing or even trying to do, least of all Musk who is almost proud of his lack of understanding around anything to do with it.
Crowdsourcing "creativity" is an horrible idea, nothing worse than playing to the lowest common denominator, frankly.

Do you have a Twitter account as well? Or who is this madman you are raving about? It's obviously not one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world you are talking about. And Tesla did hire people and they produced ads that looked like all the rest. That's why they got rid of the team.

That's a strange way to put it. The trial resulted in ads that looked like all other car ads. Since they don't have to rely on advertisements in the same way as legacy automakers, they can take the time to rethink how ads are being done. That's not a problem at all, it's a strength that many others don't have.

Let’s keep in mind in a dealership model. You’re lucky you pay the same price than the next guy who buys the same exact vehicle. The price varies all over the place regardless of msrp and that has been the way of the beast since the inception so to hear people say that oh I paid this, but my neighbor paid that, that’s how the car market has always worked
Sales were up almost 40% last year. How can Gary Black say definitively that none of that was due to price cuts?

Strangely enough, no price cuts here in UK. Really disappointed. Tesla really needs to cut price to gain more market share.
15:48 Exactly why I won't submit my tesla for robotaxi fleet
About cost: I had BMW for 15 years-INSANELY EXPENSIVE TO OWN Vs. Tesla that is INSANELY CHEAP to own and operate!! Also, most Tesla will last 300,000.00 to 600,000.00 miles Vs gasoline at about 180k-average time before scrapping them. MASSIVE MISSED FACTOR in the overall equation of "TCO".
Tesla has dropped the lease rate and down payment on the Model 3 LR as well as the RWD. And RWD and LR Model 3s are starting to build up in inventory. Looks like demand is continuing to drop. I expect Tesla's forecast for Q2 tomorrow, if they give one, will be below expectations.
Dillon, at 0:49, you suggest Tesla should disclose profitability of FSD/AI. I'm not sure that would be a good idea from a public relations point of view. Tesla estimates it will have invested at least $10 billion in FSD/AI by the end of this year, but even the most bullish prediction for Tesla's FSD sell-through rate won't result in Tesla recouping those development costs by the end of this year. As such, releasing the numbers you suggest would likely result in headlines of the form "Tesla makes a huge loss on each FSD license it sells" and TeslaQ would have a field day spreading FUD around that. I think it would be better for Tesla to release those numbers only after FSD's cumulative income has exceeded Tesla's cumulative investment in FSD.
In which countries is the Tesla FSD being sold and at what price? The list of countries where Tesla FSD is being sold provides an indication of which countries will get the Tesla FSD s/w soon.
Dillion has no been negatively affected by Gerber and Black. That's sad to see. Interest rates are ridiculous. Everyone is suffering right now.

Will Elon pull out all the stops? This is the last earnings call before the June re-vote for his pay package.
its the education true . But Its the price , its the range, its the charge time, but the payment is a shock. yes if you can digest the reduction of oil, gas, brakes, but I want that to be a bonus. not the the only factor. The problem is we know how an ice car gets along. my Toyotas get 28 mpg even after 200K miles. But educate me and let me see how a TESLa gets along after 200k miles. how much battery do I get after 200k miles. What is the range and and charge time then. Until that is sorted , people are going to hugely discount battery operated Used cars. which will cause the price of new cars to fluctuate more based on interest rates and payments.
The best car advertisement of the last century was when Toyota started showing all the people who got 200-300k or more miles out of their cars . When the rest of the auto mfg' were lucky to get 100k. and were scrapping them at 130K.

Many people and relatives are EV haters and Tesla extreme haters, they spread fear and misinformation . You cannot argue with them because you will be personally attacked. Tesla should have family friendly educational commercials that show EVs are easy to drive and can be set to suit the driver . The haters will tell people that you cannot control the acceleration, handling or extreme regen). As well Tesla should show real examples of range, I have been told the EVs have less than 150 kms range?

@yourcrazybear Elon has already raised the idea of a stock buy back, several years ago, and pointed out that they are investing as much as they can, as quickly and usefully as they can. The profits that they are making are after all of this investment. He wants enough in the back to cover emergencies and I think that $20+ Billion is probably enough for pretty much any eventually.

Will there come a time when it's suitable for Tesla to introduce a stock buy back program? Sure. Is that time today? No. Their money is better suited to build new factories, make investments, possible buy up other companies, etc.
so saving all those oil changes air filters and brake pads over ten years translates to very little financial benefit, hmm?
Elon can talk less, especially on earnings calls lmao
As a Tesla owner (Model S) and Tesla stockholder, I wish Elon would take on a period of "SILENCE" and stay off of X and verbal interviews!!
ELON *WILL WORK ANOTHER HOUR A DAY AND CREATE/POST ADS ON X* LoL
self reported cost is not scientific
Been OBVIOUS for years this advertising/education campaign was required AND for Elon to STOP his constant chatter too !!! Afraid it’s not a short term programme Tesla needs but a cumulative move the dial towards “loving the brand” !
unfortunately, baidu map sucks, and i don’t expect this to change significantly. a huge drawback for tesla in china. gaode (amap) is much better.
On the Radio yesterday, I heard a Cybertruck Bricked at a car wash. Has anyone else heard or is that just a Tesla hater?
Do people traditionally buy a Mercedes over a Buick based on price? No Elon.
But people self select which products they buy based on their available resources. Obviously those that need Mercedes extra facilities will pay for that additional utility if they have the resources. Those that can't don't. There will come a point where to achieve deeper market penetration price cuts are required. That will be progressive as more customer are reached with lower pricing. I think Tesla would say Jan 2023 roughly marked that point, but the low cost models coming will open up new income markets.
Of course they do
Elon will soon announce that private car sells will soon end and all production will be for robotaxis. For better or worse!
Only at saturation
@@rogerstarkey5390 Saturation of what?
Why does Elon have so much difficulty in understanding the need for educational advertising?
First add should be dog mode.
That's why we bought our Tesla
Unique but Tesla never advertised this .
Just stupid.
Elon is the worst sales men according to his brother.

No amount of evidence will ever persuade an idiot
No excuses, and accounability, fact-based: it doesn't bode well when any company, public or private, cannot plan well enough to mitigate growth phase impacts. Period. Anyone arguing that is either naive. foolish, or in denial.
