Hey Dillon, I’m currently visiting Perth in Western Australia and when I took out a model Y RWD for a test drive I saw one of the Ambient light model 3’s in the Showroom … they are here in Western Australia, I can confirm it. I really enjoyed my obligation free test Drive and the Support from the Tesla Team at Osbourne Park especially Julian Huynh who was assigned to look after me. The whole team are great and it’s getting that you see Tesla’s in Perth as often as you see Toyota Cars. For a state that for years depended on Toyota, Tesla is making great inroads …
hmmm that's interesting for sure, thank you for sharing!
What the F is the UN doing being involved in the acceptance or not of FSD??
F for Frunk?
It obviously isn't the UN he meant EU.
It was adequately explained in the video, just watch it until you understand it. There is more than one UN, as well as any other number of acronyms.

United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. UNECE.
My 22 Model 3 has been driving me everywhere on the FSD trial. Hard to imagine any OEM CEO experiencing what I have this week and not calling Elon post haste.
I'll bet there have been "conversations".
Wait for the new Ford truck reveal.
(Just imo)
I have no doubt that Tesla FSD will NOT pass EU regulations until the European auto companies catch up.
Europe moves to the back of the line in Autonomy thanks to the regulators. This seems to be a common theme across a number of areas.

Midnight cherry red in UK means that they are building RHD cars in Berlin for UK and Ireland as well as India.
Have examined a midnight cherry red at Berlin factory and it looks purple in some lighting, very very nice. Quicksilver is so gorgeous I'm tempted to upgrade from my current white MYLR
I also reacted to this but I don't know historically - have they made them before or not? On Tesla UK model Y is estimated April-May delivery, but if you choose MCR or QS it switches to June-July.
On the Swedish Tesla site there is no difference in delivery estimates (2-4 weeks).
So they are not currents doing left hand steering in Berlin, but maybe they had done a batch before?
@@subwarpspeed as I understood it only China had been making RHD model Y so this is a change and it makes sense because of they are going to make them for India they may as well also service the European RHD market (UK and Ireland). They may well have started the RHD lines up already and started taking orders.
@@BALANCEDPORTFOLIO I see them quite often where I live in Europe and they look very good, it's a very deep, dark red which you don't really see on other vehicles. I wouldn't say it's purple though.

The production challenge for the Megapack is Transformers (2 year wait). The issue with those (power) transformers (made by ERMCO) is that they require specialized steel. This "grain-oriented steel" made by Cleveland-Cliffs, their plant is operating at a hundred percent capacity/output. There is an uncertain pending move to amorphous steel which is stopping anyone from adding more grain oriented steel production. And the industry got burned around 2008 and is hesitant to build overcapacity(article: Understanding the electric transformer shortage | Latitude Media) #transformershortage #megapackproduction
Good one as usual, thanks Dillon!!
Jealousy does bad things to some people, they are generally the first to throw stones or bad mouth the person who they dislike if only because of what the other has!
who licenses tesla fsd first? don't forget to check out ag1 if you're interested :) - drinkag1.com/electrified - enjoy!
Ford. There's respect both ways
No one. Tesla can’t even get decent FSD adoption within its own fully-equipped fleet…. and at $12K 1-time non-transferable or $200/mo subscribed, it never will. Either make transferable, lower subscription to $50/mo, move to $0.10/FSD mile consumption-based model, or achieve Level 5 autonomy.
I wonder if some smaller can "skip the line". Maybe they have decent EVs but with FSD they seem to become the option that people weigh against if not choosing a Tesla.
Remember we are several years away from FSD in cars from other manufacturers working (not just enough with the hardware - like cybertruck has the hardware but not enabled yet).
Rivian, they hire Tesla engineers and have a similar mindset.
Any car manufacturer that is not seriously studying Tesla's / Elon's offer is insane / negligent.
Thanks for the update Dillon! One correction: Gigaberlin has been producing RHD Model Ys for export to the UK, since it first opened! We know this because the paint colours you could order from UK were only available from gigaberlin, not gigashanghai.
thank you!
Polestar is your 2nd favorite, not Rivian?

Not 12%. 1/12th which is approximately 8.33%
if they take 12% they're still in the green 😉 haha actually meant to say 10%
@@DillonLoomis22 sure, but you said “at least”, meaning the minimum threshold. All they need to make to be in the green would be anything more than 8 1/3%, assuming a $1000 hardware cost.
Thanks. Great episode. I am starting to think it is becoming very tempting to set the stage purposely and see what FSD does .. throw a cardboard box out in front, have a person walk in the middle of the street and then jump out in front of you coming up, have a dog race across the road, have a truck drop a ladder off the back … someone should purposely create some edge cases!! What happens you start purposefully covering some of the cameras to simulate mud, purposefully covering the interior camera or purposefully do some weird hand body motions or abruptly open a car door … on and on … throw a bucket (like a splash) of water across the drivers’ windshield. Why not setup a competition to who comes up with the best crazy situation!! Challenge FSD on purpose!!! Why not put up a sign saying accident up ahead, take another route and see what FSD does .. the more ridiculous the better .. it’s time to have fun 😮😅 How will it react to sounds and gestures. Fire trucks … Will it pull over and let it pass. What if a car purposefully stops in front and puts hazard blinking lights on …. 🎉🎉🎉 It’s time to create the edge cases instead of waiting for them to happen.
Right. When I tested my own software I didn't just see if it was working right. I tried to break it!
thanks
Thanks!
you're welcome, thank you!
That licensing will be expensive for tesla they need to train per car. CT still does not have a release
If that were the case, it wouldn't work, that is not the case, these people are not stupid.
How many balls can you juggle at once? The thing is dynamics are different, and how to prove it works. An 82,000 lb truck takes a much longer time to stop for instance. Changing load on a truck has to be considered as well.
Per car ? So much for mass FSD software upgrades ? Weight is known when it leaves the factory. All model designs also known.
Polestar: "There's no way in hell we can compete with Tesla on price"

Driving home from Tesla/Kennesaw SC this afternoon I felt what seemed to be a shift going from street traffic mode to highway mode on FSD 12.3.3. Are the FSD Street and Hwy modes still separate??
The video you just watched said they are
Reminds me of what they say on the stock market about catching a falling knife.
Legacy Car companies in Europe will fight tooth and nail to not allow FSD in Europe until they have their own systems ready. (Good luck with that happening any time soon.)
Not really, there is only VW. And they will sell themselves to Huawei or one of their competitors before long.
Dillon, some added context about Nelson Peltz: His fund is the 5th Largest owner in Disney. 😂
Didn't Elon just tell Disney to f itself?
Right, his fund's strategy is to acquire companies suffering from self-inflicted wounds, install new directors, and get them into a self-help mode where they become a turnaround story. So far, the company is resistant to Peltz' proposed slate, but getting Wall Street to recognize recognize the problem can help in the next election.
uh oh - haha
Ditto, Polestar in my second favorite EV after Tesla,
Having really enjoyed a visit to India, I would love to see FSD dealing with the wonderfully creative and uniquely talented Indian drivers 😂
FSD really needs to learn to listen (for honks) and itself needs to be honking 😂
I love that idea... a Teslabot arm could be added for gesturing to other motorists, with a Grok speaker for shouting polite observations on the driving style of others 😂 I love India, the driving I experienced was like a mad video game, not to mention the crazy monkeys racing across the roads having stolen food from someones house. I hear model y coming to OZ now are HW4
The India market, as i remember, would need more ground clearance than the current Model Y has but the Cyber Truck easily exceeds. Tesla 4680 cells and pack likely no longer structural so can use cells from many sources. Better if pack and vehicle can flex as it reduces weight, increases range, and enables recycling.
Also, structure is better in top and bottom lids and internal ribs.
You're not an engineer then?
I agree with Nelson's meaning about Musk not being selfish. And pop psychology gets the meaning of ego wrong. The ego has 3 parts, super ego (parent) ego (adult) and id (child). Its usually our inner child, the id, that is often selfish and needs a big pickup truck to compensate for a fragile self-esteem.
You are way understating the total comp of top AI engineers. $1M may be base salary but total comp is much higher - 10X to 20X.
Licence FSD to VW and Europe will fall into line
"...also true in the US also." That statement is also repetitively redundant also.😊
Why ONLY 75 minerals on AG1 :)
UNECE: Ah... fudge!
I have a theory. The reason FSD is not available on the cybertruck yet. Has to do with the steer by wire system. How does your manual override overpower the computer steering the wheel for you when it's not a physical connection and the car makes an error????
Torque sensor in the wheel , just like on the other Tesla. Why would that even be an issue.
Stop the car from making errors.😁 You forget that the other cars have power steering.
its not as hard as you think in programing you have a master slave ie master input is the steering wheel that over rides the slave the ai.
@@boatthere867 Unless the AI takes over the master 🤔
I have a slightly different theory- that the steer by wire system is so unusual and takes some getting used to such that Tesla wants to make sure its drivers are adjusted and could confidently take over in an emergency without overcorrection
FSD is way too expensive for a non-business!!! I’m Leasing it out of curiosity and to help it develop, but I have no children or exwives and so have enough $ to experiment with it. I think like $50 a month would be do able for the average user. If someone does buy it out right for what ever price is determined should own it going forward if they get a new vehicle no ?’s asked. IMO
The 12k price is for the functionality that's coming. If they turn on Level 5 fsd, 12k would be way to cheap and they would loose out on insane amounts of money. If you own it for lifetime, I think 12k is too cheap as well
$50/ month would sure improve adoption, and that’s what Tesla desperately needs if ever they want to make money from it.
I understand your point and as a big Tesla shareholder that would seem to be good for me….? Here is the BIG problem! For a Long Long time people are going to trust themselves to drive fine, and will decide to spend that $12,000 somewhere else! It’s just too much! If the goal is to save lives because it makes the roads safer then everyone needs to be using it! Unless the Government’s of the world mandate it that will never happen at this price point!!! Just being REAL!!
@@John-Edward I agree with lower prices for the monthly rentals. You can always charge more as the capabilities improve. I don't agree in lowering the outright purchase price, as the potential value is so insane. That 12k could be a 30k money printer per year when level 5 is achieved
@@Matzesyou say “if level 5” as if they haven’t been at level 2 for years

It is interesting that Giga Berlin production right hand drive model Y ship to India instead of China made one. Both manufacturing and shipment costs should be higher from Germany than China. Unless the taxation is different.
India is at war with China along its 3000km Himalayan border.
Maybe a bit of a feud between them? Not as bad as China vs. Taiwan but still maybe something Tesla feels the cars will sell better/without friction.
@@subwarpspeedJust from commercial points of view, it doesn’t make any sense at all.

Manufacture of RHD cars for India in Berlin ALSO makes it more likely similar cars will be supplied to the UK.
MUCH reduced shipping cost?
(IF Brexit induced tariffs can be negotiated?)
I don't know historically but the UK Tesla Store shows model Y colors MCR and QS available for delivery in June-July so they will make some LHS for the UK soon.
Those saying Elon is self-centered and power hungry are describing themselves.
4:15 If there is no Megapack demand issue, then why are they cutting price on it?
Increase their market share.
They've been cutting the price for some time now. Eventually they will sell for less than $1M.
Competitive bidding requires it as others have similar, lower. very competitive projects to win bidding processes...
It could also have a huge impact for the UK market as well with cars coming via Berlin rather than Shanghai, big European market 🎉
Right hand drive vehicles being produced in Germany may be for the UK market, not necessarily for India. Reuters, as always, is making unverified statements.
Help please ? ! I am still waiting for Tesla to announce, "4680 problems are resolved, ramping high speed production . . . " What is LG going to do ?
Right on Dillon!
Just drove on the FSD supervised.
My main issue is it completely disconnects when I need to make a slight correction, or give it a nudge.
It should just continue driving back in FSD after my correction.
Examples: making a right on red quicker. And quicker merge into a lane.
In those two examples, if you nudge the Accelerator, it moves faster and doesn't kick off. I've done it for both situations.
How does it make a right turn on red?
Funny, I never met the man but honestly, as a student of history, I am in awe of his brilliance and genius. Rare even in the history of human geniuses.
Moreover, he is immensely wealthy but lives in a tiny house. Material things for him are simply a convenience to get things done and his goals are solar reaching it leaves the unenlightened baffled. He is a dynamo who is determined to achieve life-saving goals for mankind and he is generally a few steps ahead of any of his ilk and way far ahead of the average intellect.
I am immensely grateful he appeared on this planet at this critical time for humanity of Earth. God bless Elon Musk.
He doesn't suffer fools gladly. He has a diamond focus on his goals which could result in some of the greatest benefits of our humanity. Amen.
Please no, not a per mile charge. That's absurd, unless they also keep the existing options.
I welcome the per mile model. It puts ME in control of how much I spend on FSD with the option of use on any month, any drive, and even any part of a drive. Much better than committing to a fixed high dollar subscription and non transferable purchase.
How about per month? $200 per mile seems excessive.
@@RogerWilsonTodd I guess if they go for the $0.1 per mile it will be cheaper for those riding less than 2K miles a month, with switching to a flat monthly rate of $200 for months going over that limit.
The problem OCD people like myself have is that we like to own things, or at least believe that we do.
What about the elderly, who only drive a couple hundred miles a month? A per mile charge is the only thing that makes economic sense for them.
Sounds like its time someone sues Audi. Their lane assist frequently tries to pull me off the road without asking for any kind of permission.
Just something for you, a bit of an exclusive info. Elon was now several times in my home country Slovenia, he is negotiating for an additional factory in Europe. It should be located between the city of Koper and Izola. Koper has an international port and a lot of Tesla cars come through it. So now that Tesla have almost got FSD working, people are starting to say its almost worthless. People suggesting giving away the hardware for free, lowering subscription price, etc.
Tesla is nowhere near getting FSD working. They now changed their design intent completely (to SAE Level 2 instead of Level 4) to come up with a supervised version. So, drop the "full" in "FSD" and name it appropriately: "supervised self-driving". Let's wait and see whether this will be a commercial success with the customers to really actually pay for it. The hard time will come, when they notice the nagging, the near accidents, issues, quirks and automation errors. And the fact, that non-rule-based systems keep a property of randomness, that cannot ne explained after an incident. Tesla then can retrain the NNs with more training data for specific edge cases, but never explain a past behaviour.
Tesla focuses on simulating "human driving" now, but by doing so, they give up a portion of safe driving.
I think tesla still could boost delivery not from giga India output. But to ship our existing ev to their market, no?

Tesla highway needs complete retraining, the lane offset near trucks is completely wrong, it should stay lane centered. It frequently calls the non right lane the fast lane, often changes lanes unpredictably, also camps in left lane, doesn't merge over early enough, dive brakes into left lane for turns on 4 lane roads instead of making progress 3/4 of a mile early, often brakes to early for weaving merges, makes poor decisions regarding merge speed. Maybe the reason Tesla is doing so well is the big dog hasn't been paid in years! How does that compare with all the other car makers.

I still think Tesla should keep negotiating for a better deal in India. I wonder how long India wants to wait and keep falling behind international standards in BEV just to collect minimal import taxes. I can't imagine that a lot of cars are imported at current taxes and even with 8000 cars in a market with 1 billion people makes no sense. Focus should be on ramping Tx, Berlin and building Mexico
European car manufacturers will ensure that FSD will is not allowed in Europe, until they have a solution to offer also

India is a big question mark. I'm interested in seeing how that goes. It's a graveyard of failed car companies. It's a very different market from the rest of the world. @TommyHales-so3tf The reason I decided to work closely with a brokerage adviser ever since the market got really tense and the pressure became so much(I should be retiring in 17months) so I've had a brokerage adviser guide me through the chaos, its been 9months and counting and I've made approx. 650K net from all of my holdings.
@@DonnaRiedel How can I participate in this? I sincerely aspire to establish a secure financial future and am eager to participate. Who is the driving force behind your success?
@@DavidCline-zk7jw “Kristin Gail Cunningham’’ You can easily look her up, she has years of financial market experience.
@@DonnaRiedel Thank you for this Pointer. It was easy to find your handler, She seems very proficient and flexible.
I think Elon can come across as egotistical and rude. I try to figure out if it is just that he is direct and doesn't have the time to pussy foot around like everybody else with pleasantries and niceties. He does seem open to ideas from anyone. He is probably the only person on earth who can hear an idea and instantly know all the pros and cons and far reaching effects of it. He can at times seem quite prejudiced, and considering his South African background, he might be unaware that it is ingrained and comes out now and then. I don't think anyone can deny his brilliance and very far thinking ability, and his talent to integrate so many things without jamming the gears. Very few people amaze me, but he does. I will never understand why Tesla stock isn't 10X what it is just because of Elon.
Wonderful that u guys pat urself in the back. Everything will be great once whole universe adapts fsd . U forgot that
