This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV, plug-in hybrid compact SUV. The Kia Sportage PHEV is priced so well, comes loaded with standard features making it a tough one to beat for value! We have the base model for $44,995 CAD/$38,490 USD and you won’t believe what you get. A 12.3” touchscreen with Navigation, a 4.2” instrument cluster, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto a wireless charger, heated and ventilated front seats, quilted leatherette upholstery, a power driver and passenger seat, driver seat memory, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, heated rear seats and a power liftgate. Hold on there’s more…. Advanced forward collision avoidance, lane keep and follow assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors. In the US, there are a few differences, on the base trim Kia Sportage PHEV you get a 12.2” instrument display but you’ll have to move up to the top trim for $42,990 USD to get a power passenger seat, driver seat memory, ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Looking for a few more features? The Canadian top trim of the Kia Sportage Plug-in will cost you an extra $3,400 ($48,395), that’s where you’ll find, projection LED headlights, a 12.3” digital instrument cluster, Harman Kardon Sound System, a surround view monitor, remote park assist, highway driving assist and rear parking collision avoidance assist. These features are also available in the US. The Kia Sportage PHEV has a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an electric motor, a 6-speed automatic transmission and a combined 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. 55 km/34 miles of EV range, standard AWD and a 13.8 kWh battery. It earns a combined city/highway rating of 2.8Le/100km, 84 MPGe. With the battery depleted it gets 6.7L/100km, 35 MPG combined. This Kia Sportage plug-in hybrid qualifies for the Canadian Federal rebate of $5,000 and incentives in participating provinces. Unfortunately, the Sportage PHEV no longer qualifies for a tax credit up to $7500 in the US. New rules have come in to affect, both the vehicle and battery need to be made in the US to qualify.

Your enthusiasm for this Kia is contagious. Want one.😊
I have to be honest; watching your reviews is so refreshing!!! The format you both follow while filming your videos is very structured, easy to follow and most importantly it includes all the information that us consumers need when researching vehicles we are considering buying. I specially love how you always include numbers for the US market. Defiently the best RUclips vehicle review channel!!! Well done Zach and Andrea!!
Thank you so much!
I couldn't agree more with Jose's response and we both were watching yesterday coincidentally... Saturday thus. 👍
I further wish to add my consideration on Andrea's & Zach's share of their views on this Canadian model.
I just want to have a new fresh & recent review like this was coz I want to be updated yet again as DD in preparing myself prior to fetching my GT-PlusLine (Top trim) with All Season 19" tyres and outfitted with the electric retractable towhook (KIA model).
Another thing are the rear lights, our version (Dutch in Europe) are full LED too as oppose to the Americas version. My "KIA Ora"... I've already chosen to ordain her this name (a Kiwi cultural greet), is a 2022 model that was ordered in March and it has already arrived in October 20th. I fundamentally wished & requested to have it delivered in January 2023 but was earlier informed that it may be in December (lucky me) while I wanted a month later... Reading from many FB Groups grouching away on their loooong waits (avg 8-18 months), I changed my request and accepted the Christmas package instead. It helped me saved two full months of Lease payment as a result... Yayyy!!! So, November it became and this 30th it shall be.
In conclusion, I'm a 70 y.o. Retiree that testdrove the EV6 325 bhp too in Sept 2021and decided the Sportage is the choice over the Tucson, Santa Fe, EV6 & Ioniq5 as well. This model is adequate for just me and my wife and the two Puggies (H&H) partying behind in their given boot parlour.
Why the PHEV one then asked and not the full EVs...?
We don't travel much as of late and no need for a fast revver either hence, comfort and safety features to meet our traffic we have in Europe and esp. the charging costs and looonggg queues at the charge terminals on the highways... with all these considerations accounted, a PHEV is the right choice for Seniors, esp. when we have our own "Easee Home" (Norwegian model) charge terminal with 7,5m cable installed inside our garage and with load balancing coupled to it, FOC energy is plugged out from our 60x PVs @315kWh each. Hopefully never to use or depend on the highway chargers for the next 5 years of Lease but we opted the 3-years to be in time for the next generation for a full EV model.
Luv both yr reviews with greetz from The Netherlands...
I agree! They are excellent!
Great video, guys.
USA here. You guys are winning Up North!
Down here we have fewer features, no incentives, and $6000 market adjustment.
Plenty of us placed orders, based on the previous $7500 incentives. Poof💨! Gone!
We’ve enjoyed ours for 1 month, with no real issues until 2 days ago, when we experienced a very dangerous situation in my 2023 Sportage PHEV X-Line. I was going 65 mph, on the highway, and activated cruise control. The car set the cruise speed to 110mph on its own, and began to accelerate. Cruise worked fine before and after the 10 minute period, when the car wanted to go 110mph.
Kia was notified and have received my video of the occurrence. They have contacted me already and I am awaiting further follow up.
@Hugh M. video already sent to Kia. They call me back in less than a day. Awaiting follow up, this week. Very scary.
I bought this exact phev and trim but in matte grey last week. And i freaking love it!!
Fantastic, congratulations!
@@andreaspencer9813 You're in the U.S., obviously. Try waiting 2 1/5 years in Canada. Matte gray is not an option in Canada.
I just picked up my Sportage PHEV three days ago. Love it!!
Whats your mpg?
I've heard the story about the pissing contest for the navigation system preventing wireless Android auto before.
The solution is simple: On first press of the Nav button, give drivers the choice which system they want to use by default going forward!
I absolutely love the Wireless Android Auto in my Tucson and wouldn't want to go without it.
You two do a great job delivering this content.
I was at a Toyota dealership in Edmonton yesterday. They told me the rav4 prime is going for $70k now. Nuts! I could get a lifetime of gas for that premium over a gas rav.
no kidding
I think these cars will be viable only after supply issue are fixed.
A total joke right 🤷♂️🤷♂️ who on earth pays $70K for a frigging RAV4 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Good luck getting a Kia Sportage PHEV SUV, always sold out! I know my brother wants one for his retirement car.
We bought the oh-so-similar Sorento PHEV back in June, and we are generally very happy with it. The obvious advantage of the Sorento is the third row. The subtle disadvantage: We have a 60-pound dog and she has some trouble staying on the 2nd-row captain's seat when we take a hard corner. I think she'd be more comfortable (and safer) on a 2nd row bench.
You are SO right. We have a 2018 Sorento that's my wife's driver and the family's long distance cruiser. It's a top trim SX with numerous bells and whistles and my wife loves it. We've considered replacing it with the new PHEV version but nixed the idea when it became apparent that our 60+ lb 4 footed family member would have difficulty in the 2nd row captain chairs. And for some unfathomable reason KIA now offers a bench seat in only the lowest trims of the non-hybrid Sorento models. The Sportage may well be an option but it's certain we won't be purchasing our third Sorento.
Buy a dog hammock and make a bench with plywood sheet and foam.
@@Hikebike365 Or buy another vehicle, a choice made by many consumers in response to a failure to offer a second row bench seat in any but the least expensive trim.
@@stephenhendricks103 for sure....I thought you owned it already
Another great review! Agreed! If you can get your hands on a Rav4 Prime, get it! it can be driven like a pure EV most of the time with its heat pump and stronger electric motors. Not to mention amazing resale value for the Prime. Sportage looks way more stylish and upscale than Rav4 Prime. With its amazing value, who cares if the ICE has to turn on when heating the cabin. Sportage PHEV truly give you a lot bang for the buck! well, can't get any of these vehicles anyways.. the wait time is ridiculous. we consumers nowadays don't get to choose the cars. We take whoever wants to sell the car to us,
That's why you hang onto your existing car longer! These days you are also being hit with a 6-7% interest rate if you finance/lease most new vehicles. In 4 years you pay another 25% of the car's value to the manufacturer! That's just insane. Not worth buying (ie leasing/financing) a new car these days. And very few of us have the $40-50-60k to buy them outright.
Ask your toyota dealer about the wait time for the Prime, mine said 3-4 years 🤣
@@SariAlShammari , here the salesman said to me 5 years for the Rav4 Prime!
Personally, you guys are the best, everything is clear and answer most of my questions, keep going.
Spoke to local dealership. You can’t order a Sportage PHEV. I then followed up with Kia Canada who confirmed dealers are NOT taking factory orders for the PHEV. You can wait for what’s sent to the dealers that’s built by Kia and have it allocated however that’s 18-24months due to the backlog of orders Kia is trying to fill. Why advertise a vehicle that you can’t buy!!?
Don’t worry, 100% evs coming In 12 model years 😂😂😂 what a joke
Absolutely right!! My biggest concern is that by the time your turn comes around, you've already watched Andrea & Zach's review for the 2024/2025 models & you'll realize that you've wasted your time and deposit, waiting for a car that no longer provides the same value that you initially placed the deposit for.
I think part of the reason why it’s delayed is because there is a big lawsuit going on towards Hyundai/Kia. Apparently there’s been many car thefts.
If you have a good trade in, you wont wait 24 months.
It’s a big scam from the auto industry I swear.why are they even advertising new models when they can’t produce 🤷♂️?
I just called the local Kia dealership and was told the wait time for this vehicle is 2-2 1/2 years. They aren't even compiling a waiting list for at least 3 mos. I called Kia Canada and expressed my dismay. They have noted my concerns.
I love Zack's question "am I in heat?"
We've got a deposit down and waiting for the call for dealer!
Really encouraged by your video.
Our runner up is the Outlander but i think it'll be much more expensive and we don't like how it feels big.
Would love to cross shop w upcoming Niro EV, but living in the Kootenays we appreciate awd and ground clearance
Any idea how long the wait time is?
@@neos4517 not really
Dealer figures this year, but they are guessing
This CUV is perfect for those who don’t want to pay the Toyota premium, like for the RAV4 Prime or cannot FIND one… or wait for one. Thanks for the video.
I thought they were the same price? Also seems you can’t order the Kia phev anymore either
After options. Which KIA comes with a lot of equipment.. offering a better value. That is before long term reliably and the inevitable trade-in (that Bank of Toyota typically pays better).
I agree with Zack, for what they are charging for the vehicle's, most all of them nickel dime you to death. If their is such a thing as a bargain, this one comes the closest. Great review
I'm picking mine up on June 3. Can't wait! Since I live in North Carolina, I don't think the lack of heat pump will be a problem since it's only really cold here about 3 months a year. So excited!
Got mine today! Same color, X-Line AWD. GREAT RIG!!!
Excellent Review again Zach and Andrea. You guys are the best. I enjoy all your reviews
Thank you, we really appreciate the support, glad you are enjoying the channel.
I have been waiting for this since the tease a few days ago! :-)
Thank you, that's great to hear!
This will probably be my next car, currently driving Kia Optima phev. I live in southern Sweden, and during winter we can get -20C. For me its a sport to drive the 35 min to work in the cold w/o starting the engine for heat.
I did buy socks with heating. hehe.
Over the last 2 years my average is 2.2L gas /100km
Great channel btw, just found it :)
Good review. I too find that the Sportage is one of the most interesting PHEV offerings available right now but one thing not discussed here about the lack of heat pump is that in any kind of moderately colder weather you apparently never get in pure EV mode. People who want to experience the full EV mode shortly usually don't get to do it while other brands (with heat pumps) have no issue with it.
Also the most generous rebate program in Canada (Quebec) penalizes the Korean twins due to its small battery.
Mitsubishi Outlander has a bigger battery
Glad you addressed the heat pump issue. Are the ventilated seats air conditioned or just blowing cabin air? Can't wait for you review of the Mazda CX-70.
cx 70? LOOOL that won't be here for at least a year and a half
@@andrewthaboss6643 So?
@@kurtpenner2362 I'm just suprised at thr statment is all
Makes sense using the internal combustion engine for heat. The gas mileage will be higher during winter months. That’s the trade off. No heat pump. We need heat for Canadian winter’s.
It actually doesn’t make sense to use ICE for heat in a PHEV. Not sure if you have a hybrid, but even in extreme cold, the engine will turn itself off when the ECU thinks it is not needed; so it can take a long time to get heat. heat pump on the other hand = more efficient and almost instant heat. Not having a Heat pump was probably just a cost cutting decision.
Im on waiting list for A prime rav4. This Sportage PHEV is really tempting. No heat pump and in Quebec. Not a deal breaker to me i think but overall consumes more than prime. But holy cow the value you get from Sportage is out of this world.
Another excellent review! I've really been waiting for this one. I put down a deposit for one of these in late July (in the US) and no word yet. I also put a deposit on a Rav4 Prime, so it's good to know that whichever gets here first, I'm getting a great vehicle.
Depending on which state you live in, I'm going to say you will likely get the Kia before you get the Rav4 Prime. I have a 2021 Rav4 Prime and I was going to sell my Prime in order to get the 2022 Rav4 Prime XSE but I live in Texas. There is a guy on YT who has an updated list of Toyota dealers in the US and the amount of Rav4 Prime's that each dealer has received so far. Texas is a state that doesn't get that many Rav4 Prime's and therefore it looks like I'm stuck with my 2021 Rav4 Prime. I'm not complaining because it's a very good vehicle but I really wanted the 2022 Rav4 Prime XSE. I suppose I should feel lucky that I even got a Prime in the first place at MSRP in Texas last year.
Love the review! Im actually going in to order one in the morning tomorrow!
Wow, amazing! .Glad you loved the review too.
@@andreaspencer9813 2 to 4 month wait, so not too bad!
Thanks for giving so much insight while I was shopping around. Your reviews are always down to earth and cover things that actually matter
@@chasewebb4377 That is really good for wait time, you'll have it soon. Really glad to hear that our reviews helped you narrow your vehicle down, thanks for the positive feedback.
Just bought one yesterday and pick up this week! 🤗🤗
In Europe, we get the Sportage PHEV as a short wheelbase version, made in Slovakia.
Yeah, the short wheelbase version definitely makes the vehicle less preferable. If they were selling the long wheel base in Europe, I would ordered it, but Rav4 offers more space.
@@nikolayrayanov2895 I see they have the long wheelbase version in North America, Russia, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
@@DaveDVideoMaker Yeah, but not in Europe :(
Seems to be a great vehicle for most active seniors.
Another fine review, and you were bang-on at the very end when you said to put your name on a list and wait. My order for its Hyundai twin, the Tucson PHEV, was placed on November 19, 2021, shortly before Hyundai Canada stopped taking orders for them. Hyundai Canada's most recent update to me said it would get built in December 2022 (then shipped from Korea). The build date slipped three times since the order was placed. I would imagine that Sportage PHEV purchasers will be in for an even longer wait.
Just killed my Rav 4 Prime order and contacted Kia.
Bam ........Savings in da pocket and tons more features. Ya gotta Lv it!!
I've had my Hybrid EX Sportage for about a month now, and I'm generally happy with it. Wondering if I should have held out for the PHEV model. One thing I haven't heard any reviewer mention is that the heated windshield wire grid is noticeable at night around oncoming headlights. Also the EX model's non projector LED headlights aren't the greatest.
This was very informative and helped me decide on the base model. Thank you!
Another fantastic offering from Hyundai/KIA. Like you guys, I have seen many of them around my city (Ottawa) as well. I think the colour makes a big difference...I think it looks terrific in white and red. Will this electrified technology trickle down into smaller vehicles i.e. Seltos size?
Ahhhh, the Sportahhhhhge. 👍. Great review……great value !
Glad you enjoyed it!
I bought the phev with metallic grey !! waiting for it !! Great review
Bravo KIA. Well done. Nice SUV, with beautiful interior with buttons and above all NO CVT. FANTASTIC.
I ordered mine two days ago. I'm in New Mexico. Lets see how long it takes to come in. I was told 5-8 months by the dealership. I signed an agreement with a $700 addendum over MSRP, which includes additional weatherization parts, like mud guards, cargo mat, and floor mats.
I am using the Motorola MA1 wireless car play dongle on my Buick Regal TourX and I have found it works very well.
Most Hyundais and KIAs (even the gas only versions) have a PTC heater (electric grid heater) for instant heat output so a heat pump isn't really necessary. They list in in their specs but I wonder why they don't advertise this more. Few competitors have it in their vehicles.
Better than rav4, CRV, cx5, Xtrail and hyundai Tucson 😊😊
So I saw in another review that the heat pumps stop working at -3 anyway. Think it was on the new Outlander. Heat pumps don't provide instant heat like resistive element. So if you want defrost you still need ice or resistive heat available anyway.
I put a deposit on a corolla cross hybrid…IM cancelling my order and placing an order on this one 👌
Great review thank you! Just have to call the dealer now and see how long the wait to get could be 😊
I am waiting to see how the 2023 Outlander stacks up.
One thing that is awesome at least here in Sweden, I think it's one of the best features. The brightest light has 'pixel led', it turns sections off so the other cars you meet does not get the bright light in their eyes.
I prefer the Tucson PHEV, mainly because it is cheaper in the US by over 3K, also because it is a bit smaller.
I do like the Sportage grille better and the larger infotainment is nice. Don't need the sunroof.
The Sportage price gets close to the RAV4 Prime, with more standard features. The Prime has a better electric range, electric only power and better highway efficiency. None of these get the federal incentive anymore.
Tucson PHEV seems to exist only on paper or I can't find one anywhere in a 250 mile radius.
I also prefer the Tucson PHEV, but they only sell it in certain states. I don’t think the Kia has the same state restrictions.
Fantastic review as usual! Great job guys 👏🏻
It’s funny that ventilated seats are standard in Canada where it is colder than most of the US. I like the looks of this Kia over the Tucson, but I like the Santa Fe’s more upright looks the best.
I like the different looks. Priced fine w great features esp as a base. Rav4s r going for 70$. Honda review this for ur NEW crv refresh. There is a market ur missing out. Well done u 2
Great offering in the compact SUV segment. A few things I can't understand with the packaging is that you can get the red leather seats in the HEV but you cannot get it with the PHEV. When you get the PHEV, you get 19" wheels but you don't get that with the HEV. They are exactly the same vehicle other than one being a plug in version. Why don't they offer the same features??
Kia offers the best value proposition in the car industry point blank.
Not with their markups!!!!
@@markb3866 Dealerships markup prices not the manufacturer.
@@Mrnovanova dealers sell it to you, not the manufacturer. So you pay the dealer. He sets the price. I wish I could buy from a manufacturer. Since manufacturer doesn't care, I don't care about buying this brand. There are plenty of other brand dealers that don't make up.
Excellent review! You should also note the design differences between USA and Canada front bumpers and grilles! (USA = XLine with the Telluride inspired lower bumper)
I live in San Francisco Bay Area. I purchased this exact trim a month ago and have been testing fuel efficiency. With full charging it can be driven just like a electric car, the engine never needs to be activated so crazyly high MPG. But when out of electricity, it only reaches to around 25 on highway, and 30 on city streets. I dont understand, I have been driving very conservatively. And the official number of Kia for this PHEV without electricity is around 35 mpg and I can only get around 25-30. I wonder if other owners have same problem?
You both are awesome! Thank you so much for this review!
Good review. Nice job. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
whats the total range including ev?
Love your videos.. please do u have any idea/ input regarding the availability/delivery timeline for the year 2024 for PHEV SX here in Canada…
Kia kills it again!
It seems to be a very nice vehicle, but what i am worried about is the 1.6l 4 cylinder engine. Hard to say how it would hold up in the long run, and expenses to maintain. Any thoughts?
Been looking forward to this one Andrea, did Zack have a fevered brow as you were putting the car through its early pulling power? 😉 Kia pack tons of goodies into their fleet of models. Value is so competitive it's unreal 😫 considering a Kia car is a no brainer in my opinion.
When the adaptive cruise control is on in EV mode, does it switch to using gas on its own?
Based on part on your previous review of the Sportage hybrid, I bought the PHEV in late August. More than a month in now and I love it.
The styling details make it feel more high end based on the price. in fact, prior to this summer's skyrocketing gas prices, I was considering a 2018-20 Volvo XC60 Inscription. While not exactly the same particularly the screen, it seems that Kia was riffing off the interior of the XC60 Inscription.
The features for the price are hard to beat. plenty of room for what we'll need and my accumulated average is about 119 mpg.
Kia hit a home run here
Wow, congratulations, so glad you are enjoying it!
Another hit out of the park review !!!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 👍
I'm looking for driving from Oregon to Texas and back, so I'm curious about the ability to road trip in a PHEV.
Hello from Vancouver 😊
Been looking for this, Thank you.
Want to see if there is real world stats what happens when battery is over or we go long drive , is this still worth it ?
I am really looking at this car, I drive a Kia Rondo and want the Phev. How does it deal with Montreal winters with -20 C and colder at times? I hear the Outlander wont works below -20C
Just reserved ours! So excited!
One of the most interesting autos of the year... as Zack says, this may be the best value for 2023... their only problem is they do not offer very many color combination (interior-exterior) choices... another problem we have in our location, and I feel it is very important, is the franchise dealer has a mediocre rep according to customer reviews, whereas, the Hyundai franchise has a well above acceptable rep... that is very important for both knowledgable sale's help and for future service.
I saw a review of one in matt forest green and beige and it looked super sharp
@@chriskimber7179 If you go on the Kia site and pull up Build a Plug-in Hybrid Sportage you will find no such colors... the only green is a Jungle Green exterior which you can get a black or sage green interior... the only interior colors they offer are sage green and black and you can only get the sage green interior with the Jungle Green exterior... so, your only interior choice for any other offered exterior color is black... maybe that will change for 2024.
I'm also confused at best to get hybrid or PHEV as I'm beginning to notice alot of hybrids get better mileage if your not always plugged in for PHEV. Sounds like you have to regularly plug in or you'd be better off with straight hybrid
I really have grown fond of your reviews. I just have trouble trusting South Korean quality control. Anyway I've got to ask, why are you so happy when you find out vehicles have a standard transmission over an ecvt? I understand standard CVT transmissions typically are substandard from the get-go as far as longevity and reliability goes, but in hybrid vehicles, especially Toyota hybrid vehicles the ECTV is bulletproof and you have no mechanical drivetrain to maintain or wear out especially in an all-wheel drive vehicle.
I guess I'm asking why you prefer a 6-speed transmission so often.
Thank you and keep up the good work.
More often than not CVTs make the car feel a lot slower than horsepower numbers suggest, especially when it comes to passing power on the highway. The result is an uninspired, boring, lazy feeling engine.
The highest model also has the HDA2 (Highway Drive Assist 2).
Do you have any intel into when ordering will actually start for the PHEV? I notice the compare trim, which had the PHEV info in it, has now disappeared from the site. So they are doing something....
Can you set the dash display to the analog-type speedometres on this EX-Premium model?
ya, taking eyes off the road to operate controls...my biggest beef on controls: Why the heck doesn't modern tech evolve to make things easier rather than adding input time? For decades we operate air/heat/radio with dials, so when new tech comes along why wouldn't they think of systems that would make it faster, easier, more intuitive? They don't; instead, this auto tech age actually increases time required to operate, which increases time with eyes off the road to operate the most frequently used controls. CRAZY! The big knobs on the latest Rav4 is a step back but in the right direction.
Thank you Zack and Andrea for doing great reviews which include your experienced all important driving impressions and comparisons. This aspect is all the more important as of late with the scarcity of vehicles and its corresponding fewer test driving opportunities for most of us car buying public.
Thank you very much for the kind words!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The reviews are very thorough. My concern with KIA is the mechanical problems with the engine after a year or so. I’ve read there are problems. What have you heard about the long term reliability? What about the batteries catching fire?
How’s the highway pickup speed and lane take over power
Awesome Review!!!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
Man...I REALLY like that! I like that so much more than the new Hyundai Tucson.
can you please tell the colour of the car used in this video? Is it lunar silver? Or penta metal?
Is the central head support is removeble ? the back vision seems to not be the best.
So here was are a year later. Did KIA give the consumer wireless car play yet?
Andrea's the best!
No digital rearview camera?
I was going to try to get this but ended up with the Seltos. The Seltos gives me everything I need and is just as good or better in gas than my Forte was.
so better or recommended over the Outlander phev 2023?
Great review Zack and Andrea. I see you guys are the first to do a review on this new phev, locally at least. I am on a pre order list for one of these. Just wondering if you’ve heard a release date yet?
This is a great review, but actually trying to find one to buy in January 2024 is a real problem. I have been to three dealers here in BC and been told waits are 3-4 months, 7-8 months and 3-4 YEARS! Currently trying to figure out if it makes sense to try and buy one in Alberta. Either way......I think they are being very optimistic to say that this base car is doable for under $0k with rebates. Just isn't the case.
I saw one for sale on a dealer website last week and was able to buy it the next day. It was a cancelation. Someone ordered then couldn’t complete financing when their car came in, so the dealer posted it in their website for sale. Had to pay a dealer markup though 😅 I’d suggest checking dealer websites regularly for cancelations like this. This was the third I found in a week.
@@NomadicSoftwareDev Yeah, they are out there, but like you said, they all attract a hefty markup. This is why I said it is optimistic to expect to pay MSRP. I bought one too and took delivery last week. It's a nice car, but the dealer markup sours your view of the dealer as you are well aware that they are simply ripping you off and that isn't a good basis for an ongoing relationship let alone buyer loyalty. I bought from Kia South Vancouver and they were mediocre at best. The car wasn't even charged and had 1km of EV range when we picked it up. It only had 15km on the clock, so was clearly new, but they just couldn't be bothered to prep the car properly.
Spor-Tage, is that really the way to pronounce it or is that the Canada way? :) How does it overall compare to the EV6? Guess I should watch the rest of the vid... Oh never mind, it has the same EV6 swappable heat/entertainment.... Can you tell me the HP when the battery is dead/out?
I believe it’s pronounced like that everywhere in the world expect USA lol
@@gs98999 lol!!! probably!!
@ ahahah, we have a shor tage of parts to make the cars... lol....
Vast majority of people pronounce Willys (jeep) wrong too.
The problem is that we can’t find any here in CA, and if the dealers had any, they charge 5 to 10 grand markups.
When does it catch fire?
What would be the total horsepower and torque once the battery is depleted after 55kms or so..any info on it..
I have Sportage PHEV SX (white color) since July 5th in Quebec.
The way the car is programmed, the 55 up to 61 km ev range is obtained within once about 87 % of the batter ris depleted.
The car doesn’t allow the battery to go lower than 13% this being done to ensure that you always have the maximum 261 combined horse power available is case u need ( for passing on highway for example) .
Once this ev range is obtained then the hybrid mode takes over and maintain the leftover 13 % or so battery power and recharge it ( a bit )
How is availability? I pre-ordered one the first day you could in USA about 2 months ago and our dealership is still saying they haven't received a single one without any ETA. Reddit shows a couple people getting them, but not many at all.
What is availability of this Sportage PHEV? I am still waiting on Tucson PHEV 😔, 11 months now and counting.

Does anyone know why the inventory is so low for this vehicle in the US? Are there plans to ramp up inventory?
Is PHEV worth it without tax credit in the US?
