I think they're doing fine, though I'm personally sad about slow Semi progress. I'm very excited to see it doing the work.
For me it was one of the best calls we have had.. when we needed it to be the best call we ever had!
Most people forget that when Tesla is hurting, it also means that other auto companies are also doing bad, if not worse. I think this period is the best time for Tesla to steal market share in the US and continue with affordable EVs and also release compelling new models-CyberSUV likely to be announced later this year. I still think Tesla will continue and unveil next gen platform soon for China and exports-BYD's Dolphin and Seagull are selling for a while and Tesla should have something to address this segment.
I wonder if there is a market for ride hailing now using FSD supervised- like to ride it, there should be at least licensed driver passenger on the driver seat. Not compelling at first glance but consider car affordability is so poor right now and getting and renting a car that is always available few minutes of wait looks nice to have.
Semi and Megapack ramp remains painfully slow. Megapack ramp should be at least 100% increase per year due to incoming competition and for the Tesla mission.
Tesla showed us that they can weather any storm and remain cashflow positive even under the most difficult circumstances. I don't think a 40 PE represents confidence in autonomy. 40 PE, in my view, is confidence that a company will definitely grow earnings 2x in the next 5 years. And again, just my opinion, I'd be buying up to 600$/share based on where I see the company going in the next 5-10 years.
It was a positive event.
It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.
Effective personal finance management is more important than the amount of money saved, regardless of whether income is earned through a job or investment. Individuals can seek counsel from a certified financial advisor to optimize financial outcomes, who can provide specialized advice and methods to decrease expenses and maximize income.
@@JoySibley-uw3ql True. Having the right financial planner is invaluable. My portfolio is well-matched for every season of the market and recently hit a 90% rise from early last year. My CFP and I are working on a 7 figure ballpark goal, though this could take till Q3 2024.

Congratulation. That is the perfect amount to become a billionaire.
Shorting some of my $TSLA stock, but I'm retaining a portion for the long term. Tesla's growth potential remains robust. I'm considering diversifying my 200K stock portfolio, but I'm uncertain about managing risks in my next move.
Everyone needs a Margin of Safety in their portfolios and just remember, It's time in the market versus timing the market.
I believe a healthy portfolio has 3 things, at the bare minimum: Exposure to ETFs for increased diversification, Exposure to assets that generate cash flow like dividend stocks, Exposure to market-leading tech.
De-risk your portfolios, shore up your core holdings, and take some profits while balancing your portfolio allocations. I’d also suggest you go with a managed portfolio, but even those don’t perform so well, so it’s best you reach out to a proper fiduciary to guide you, that’s what works for my spouse and I. We've made over 80% capital growth minus dividends.
I'm intrigued by this. I've searched for financial advisors online but it's kind of hard to get in touch with one. Okay if I ask you for a recommendation?

I became an all-in TSLA investor this week 🥂
Bought my first shares in July 2019.
Have never sold a cent.
Ja też (me too), at about $20/share... (we have given chunks to family, but we're not selling...)
@agereseq… Great initial timing! Hoping the “all in” works magically for you. It’s nearly certainly a high risk path. I hope you have “a solid “recovery plan” just in case it goes wrong…but mostly I hope it results in a life-changing “reward.”
What’s your average cost per share?
Quadrupled my position size. It was 36, now it's 129.
@@ageresequituresse It’s painful to see that $/share dive for we who bought before the fall 2019 run up, but it’s SUCH a solid TSLA foundation! 💕
Great episode Dillon! Always the voice of reason in these troubled times.
Seems like so many people don't get the age old investment advise, : Buy Low, Sell High!. But I would add Buy low, and Hold!
Yep, buy low and then buy low again and again. Wish I had more money to buy
"Buy low, sell high" isn't really investment advice, more a statement of the obvious. Cost averaging is more like advice, as is diversification.
@@xmfclick That's the point. It seems not obvious to many investors who are panic selling. But yes , buy low, sell High is the most basic investment fundamental I heard as a kid. But please, this is not official investment advise. See your financial planner or broker. 😄
@@xmfclickDiversification is alright if you don't have conviction in the company.
I always bought low. I bought at such cheap prices… (still in the minus ;)
Holding my 5006 shares with avg cost of $112. Looking forward to progress and a Tesla AI moment coming soon.
I just now remembered there was no mention of Tesla Insurance. Wonder how that's going.
Insurance isn't very profitable since it's regulated by government
at this point, it's not going lol we definitely need an update!
@@pcysneros umm, the insurance industry ALWAYS makes fat money.
How is it going? Insurance owns politicians, the corruption Florida (ie major States) are basically blocking Tesla. These insurance cartels knows FSD will make insurance largely irrelevant due to its 10x safety factor vs humans.
@@pcysneros Insurance isn't very profitable?
Wow, talk about your "alternative facts".
It's profitable, but like national health care it is pretty complicated to run a insurance company.
WHO KNEW !!!!! ?????
Your ability to laser focus on only the good parts and ignore the negative parts in this echo chamber channel is astonishing
Agreed
Anyone who thinks that a robotaxi with no driver that requires any intervention at any stage for any reason will achieve regulatory approval, let alone be acceptable to the public, is deluded.
Ditto for release anywhere near the time Elon spruiks.
November 17, 2023 Elon finally crossed the line and I closed my position which was substantial. And it's down about 30% since then so I'm glad I made that decision. He is so out of touch, which was cool when he was a big nerd, but now he has become a screwed up human being. You can keep the stock. I still have my Model Y.
Bought in June 2019, sold most 2 years later, remodeled house, bought excavator and a red hot Y. Still have some
This one of the best video explaining tesla after the Call. 👌 👏
In my view, this was the most exciting earnings call since profitability
Before you listened to youtube video makers that suddly all make bulish headlines after all looking bored durring the conference? Or were you supper excited durring the share holder meeting? Please be honest. At what point in the meeting did you flip or was it after watching youtube videos?
@@alexmendoza9270 during the call. I was immediately ecstatic about:
- next Gen is multiple vehicles, able to be built on the same lines (as each other, and as current vehicles), meaning Tesla can optimize production for demand rather than having low line usage if a specific product becomes less popular for a period
- next Gen vehicles coming potentially this year, otherwise early 2025, which is significantly earlier than I expected. Also it sounds less “Elon time” than some other predictions since they can be built on the same line
- unboxing mfg can also be partially used, meaning ramp up is probably faster than if it would be “all or nothing”, which seemed like the main reason for cybertruck production delay
- 35k->85k H100s sounded like NVIDIA has already earmarked this production for Tesla, meaning we won’t be training compute constrained
To be fair, I don’t watch any Tesla RUclipsrs except Dillon anymore, and I believe he didn’t mention a lot of the things that made me really happy with this call.
50% les profits and lower sales,oh yes thats sooooo exciting! You are so brainwashed and full of hopium!
I’m waiting it out regardless of the bs. (2030 at least.)
In the long run we are all dead - John Maynard Keynes 😂
Bought half of my Tesla shares in early 2013 for a split-adjusted cost of $2.58/sh. Bought the other half from 2016-2021. Cost basis of those is about $150/sh. Some shares I bought for as high as $380/sh. But overall, I’m still okay. I’ve always said I’m not selling until at least 2030. I try not to pay attention to all the noise, having been through several Tesla FUD-storms. Looking forward to a GREAT payday in 2030!
So how did the prediction of selling 3.5 million cars in 2024 working out?And the 50000 Tesla Semis on the road in 2024!Telling people facts and living in the real world is now called FUD!
@@brunoheggli2888 You sound a little strident, friend. By any standard, the growth of Tesla’s automotive business over the last decade rivals, if not beats, ANY consumer-oriented heavy industry company’s growth in history. Including Henry Ford’s. Tesla sold 22.5 cars in 2013 and 1.8 million in 2023. That’s an average annual growth rate of 50% over 11 years (if I include their first year of Model S production, 2012, their average annual growth rate is 73%!). That (50%) is what Tesla has guided for - some years greater; some years less. That obviously can’t go on forever as the numbers get bigger. So, for 2024, 2025, and 2026, a 50% increase in volume each year would mean 2.7 million delivered in 2024, 4.05 million in 2025, and 6.025 million in 2026. That may not happen, at least not in a straight line manner. Do I care? No. Production/deliveries should pick up again in 2025 or 2026 with the introduction of the lower priced models. Energy deployments, though, are also ramping up nicely, too. But the biggest thing I’m anticipating is FSD/Robotaxi’s (or Cybercars). Probably in the next year, if Release 12.3.5 is any indication. THAT is going to blow away everything. You might want to buy a few shares, friend, to cover all bases. You, too, could become a “Teslanaire,” like me.
That should read “sold 22.5K cars in 2013.”
"Supervised FSD" - 🤣 gimme a break!
I don’t know I’ve been driving FSD since 10.69 and conced it has improved greatly over 18 mos.
While version 12.3 has leapt to a new level of comfort and smoothness in so many of the control outputs, I’m exasperated at the system’s ability to reveal its regressions and put you into a corner or find a new edge case just when you think it’s getting there.
I honestly don’t know if the camera only perception and NN compute solution is going to get it done. Starting to feel like local ceilings will run us through V12.4, .5, .6, .7 and on and on. All the while Elon estimates the next version is again “mind blowing”
Dollar cost averaged into Tesla, and sometime in the 2030's, I'll dollar cost average out for retirement income.
You will go broke!
It sucks because I got in TSLA early, so my first stock purchases are up 10x. But that was when my income was smaller. My income grew as the stock went up, so my DCA actually caused me to average up into peak prices and I am now down overall.
Still buying. We'll see where it goes.
You'll be fine. Another few years and you'll be swimming in value!
Why didn’t you just open up a different brokerage account???
Same. Bought in at the covid crash. Kept DCA on the way up. Then the stock tanks and now i am negative on my investment.
Me too. I rode through the drop to 105 no problem, but this last month felt different. I sold a third of my position to harvest losses from my most expensive shares. I can use them to offset gains elsewhere.
@@TeslaBull25 Opening up a different brokerage account makes no difference. Your position is your position; it's the total of all the shares of TSLA you own. I have TSLA spread over eight different accounts.
This has been my sixth ( I think) major down-up cycle since I bought my first Tesla shares in 2019. I don't break a sweat any more when it happens, but I do agree with you that Tesla is rmaking a major mistake not having an educational advertising program. It's part of the mission, right? So suck it up and generate the time, money and inspiration. It will repay itself many times over.
I saw this comment on an SMR video:
The competition is coming... To buy regulatory credits.
😂😂😂😂😂 BOOM!
I have been buying over the last two months and slowly getting my cost down. This week was a gift. All I hear on news and radio is how bad TSLA is, this means buy it now !
Am I the only one that heard elon say "sentient" regarding to optimus TWICE regarding two different questions?
Once can be a missspeak but twice starts to show at least a pattern of thought...
"Sentient: capable of sensing or feeling : conscious of or responsive to the sensations of seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting, or smelling."
The car (and Optimus) has sensors and responds to those inputs. I.e., it is sentient.
This was a great synopsis of the conference call
Remember when everyone wanted to start buybacks at like $250/share? Lmao. I knew at the time that was not an intelligent decision and I'm glad Tesla agreed.
The high cost of car insurance, the high cost of financing for vehicles, the high cost of housing, these and other high costs have put a damper of car purchases.
Globally, EV sales are up a very healthy 25% in Q1 2024. Tesla are down by 9%. Yes, the market has changed for the reasons that you state, but the fact of the matter is that Tesla's competitors were prepared for that market. Tesla, on the other hand, gave us the Cyber Truck.
All 4,000 of them. That was a big, big mistake.
@@davidbrayshaw3529 sales of postage stamp sized micro EVs went up. It's unlikely that Tesla will ever make a car that small.
@@darylfoster7944 I can't see Tesla Kei cars coming anytime soon, but what were Tesla thinking by ignoring the two largest automotive segments in the world and instead putting all their eggs into one basket and producing a vehicle that will only sell in limited numbers to wealthy North Americans?
Tesla desperately need a small hatch and a small SUV in their lineup.
@@davidbrayshaw3529 and yet the model Y was the best selling car in the "world", not the U.S. Tesla isn't competing with BYD. BYD is competing is the other Chinese auto makers.
@@darylfoster7944 It's great that Tesla had the best selling car in the world last year. The problem is that it still got nowhere close in total sales to Toyota's Corolla and RAV 4 combined. Why is that a problem? Because Toyota were accompanied by a raft of manufacturers in those segments. They are the biggest categories in the market.
Tesla need to offer a viable alternative in those categories.
It's all well and good having the no.1 best selling car, but if your global market share is less than 2% of the total car market, there's work to be done, and plenty of it.
That's why I'm bitterly disappointed in their decision to pursue the Cyber Truck rather than the model 2. The market for the CT is tiny. It's almost not even worth worrying about, in a global context. The model 2, on the other hand, has the potential to be a world beater and to pale the sales of the likes of he 3 and the Y, even.
I’ve been hustling to buy 2-4 shares a week for the past 3 years, this has been rough. Feeling defeated but I know I have to keep investing and cost average down.
i respect the hustle! nfa but i think you'll be rewarded in time (2-3 years max barring black swan)
Lol. I hope you don't have a family.
Hyundai has Boston Dynamics technology, they have Stage 4 self-driving (Tesla has stage 2)
Tesla is still valued around 500m. Still more than every other major automaker combined.
They were valued at 1 Trillion at one point. What are you expecting? Tesla to 4x to 4 Trillion?
I'm sorry. But your foolish. And your probably going to lose 40% more from here on out. The hype is over in a very competitive market.
Get out of this echo chamber and reacess...watching nothing but fanboy videos is not smart
Lol. U deleted my comment speaking truth.nive
@@Saxafruge this is about as reasonable a channel for being grounded as possible. Dillon is on the verge of annoying with how neutral he is often but i understand it. Obviously everyone here is bullish, but he covers in depth many perspectives, be them possitive and negative. I think Elon fully understood he would not survive another “the high interest rate” earnings call soooooo he went full tilt to tease accelerated new, less expensive car models, a reveal to field Cybercar hailing service and app in development, an Optimus robot in your house to help you wrap Christmas presents in 2025, and even STOCK BUY BACKS!! Something for everyone. Hope it pumps the stock a bit. And it did. Let’s see what gets delivered. 😊

Great stuff Dillon, thanks for your - quality & balanced - content. All the best.
Educational campaign 💯🙌
Thanks Dillon! BTW, isn't Cybercab = Robotaxi? I"m thinking maybe first-gen will have removable driver controls. I wonder if hand controls are an option, to remove pedals altogether? Then it could be a single bolt-on control. Well, I guess removable pedals aren't much harder. In any case, removable driver controls are probably required for personal vehicles being used as robotaxis.
If inference computing is sold for car idle time, I hope owners get a cut of the action. This could be a cash source as great as renting out your car.
Yep. My revivifier says, "That neuro-transplant on Stuart Pidd - aka "Gary Black" - failed..."
Most of us who entered or re entered these last 2-3 year did so cause we believed in the company
long term.
Other then global economy and geopolitical situation, not that much have changed long term.
If the economy goes completly to hell most of us are more or less screwed either way,
im sitting still in my boat.
Very well done!
As always, appreciate you clear and objective thoughts. So let me get that right, a supervised Robotaxi with a human in the driver seat is a "Robotaxi"? In the same way that "Full self driving" is supervised all the time by a human? These aren't wordplay, this just shows how ridiculous it is to name these services like that. The California DMV has just filed two separate complaints with the state’s Office of Administrative Hearings on July 28th, alleging Tesla made “untrue or misleading” claims about its vehicles’ autonomous driving capabilities. The DMV has the power to suspend Tesla license to sell cars in CA, though I don't think this will go so far. Tesla has 15 days to respond after which the DMV will proceed no matter what.
Now the progress on FSD is good from version 11 to 12 but you know that Tesla has 32.9 miles to disengagement whilst Waymo has over 17,000 miles? Waymo hasn't declared that the solved fully autonomous driving with their L4 system. So as good as Elon's Robotaxi plans & promises are, do you acknowledge how far out the reality of a driverless Robotaxi (which is the correct meaning of it) is?
On automotive gross margins (3,212 million), are you aware Dillon that 24% of these are coming from IRA tax credits paid by the US tax payers? $754 million of them in Q1 alone (Source: James Cat on X).So that stable automotive gross margin % is highly depending on financing from the Government and you know there's a highly likelihood that Trump will become President again and will immediately stop any IRA credits for EV's and batteries. Now what is going to happen to Tesla then?
Lastly, Tesla managed to burn through $2.5 Billion of cash from their FCF. Yes, a lot is probably coming from building up the inventory (can we please stop this stupid FUD about cars stuck on ships, inventory is at an all-time high) but it's also coming from the huge investment in AI hardware ($NVDA chips, as Dojo as a project has failed). And in regards to your "Stupid" comment, you just believe what Elon and the CFO said, that this is a one-off. Will see and please add your one-off prediction to your own prediction tracker, ok? Also, your comment was way-off, very unusual from you. Ross is pointing out one possible scenario, you're pointing out another. Let's see how 2024 and 2025 plays out. I hope Tesla doesn't go bankrupt and can continue to make progress on the Masterplan, that's all that I personally care about. For our planet.
Beautiful summary.
Congratulations Dillon. A really well presented episode.

I assume that slowness in Mexico was a big input to this decision.
It's not a Mexican slowdown. It's a Tesla slowdown
I think Elon is hesitant to invest billions in new factories while there is a demand slowing
The compact pickup market is red hot !! Tesla should seriously consider a Model 3 derivative (see Truckla) . This could be done at minimal cost and would generate sizeable profits.
Amen to having an ad campaign that combats FUD
Last quarter report said a new platform was or had to be designed for the low cost vehicle. Now it can be done on the existing production line! And no one is questening this? Did Tesla has a plan for low cost vehicle? Why use a line for high margins vehicle for low? So Tesla stopped growing for the foreseeable future? If 29 BUS$ at the bank why not use it? Where is that magic unbox manufacturing miracle?
Dillon,
Your thoughts?
Just went on the configurator in Canada, Model 3 Performance not coming till July. Is this an indication of a mass influx of orders or due to limited production?
Thanks for honest evaluation on Tesla/TSLA. I am long term investor purchasing TSLA at IPO in 2010, and am all in on company I firmly believe in and support, currently on 4th vehicle. Master Plan 3 is why I support Tesla, and executing this mission is one I strongly support.
you are the new Rob Maurer, and you actually have something more to it. Great channel
I started investing at $1000 pre pre split so it's a good time to buy more!
Model 2 with tax credits will be less than $300 in monthly pmts. For a new high tech brand new car in todays high interest market it will be impossible to beat. I was hoping they would have it ready well before the tax credits expire. Added- I say this to encourage those waiting on FSD, Robo Taxi, Semi, Energy Storage, and Optimus. There may be earlier reprieve in sight!
