Balance as I get busier again will be something I have to concentrate on. For those that don’t know yet I’ve decided to become a local politician (working the system from within) and I’ve already joint the renters association as a board member (it takes about a year to become a full board member but I’m on my way). In taking these steps I’m fully aware that life will become busy again. I’ve already had several meetings and a couple of events I had to go to. But I now know I’m autistic so I will be navigating the future with that knowledge and the realization that if I want to be doing stuff for a while I need to make time for rest and relaxation. It’s that time of year again to get my winter hat out as well. Even though I should probably take the pin off because it’s the wrong version of the hat. I’ll send a picture to illustrate because I’ve talked about it a couple of times now and realize I haven’t actually shown the hat. We do kind of knit. It’s with a machine but it’s still knitting at least that’s what other Addi users tell me. Lol. I’ve been saving the last weeks crating videos for when I need a pick me up. Getting your brain to relax with something else then autism related content is a must. Have a good week Claire and friends.
Hey Claire, sounds like you've had a good week, and have lots to plan for. I need to stop procrastinating on the things I need to do. We are just getting the kittens into their harnesses for the first time to take them out for a walk, will be their first time out so I wonder if they will walk far or just stop to sniff every few mins, 😂, they have just been helping with a delivery from Amazon and the sitting room is full of boxes, they are having a wonderful time right now 😂 Have a good week. 😊
Love having Porch Coffee with y’all to start my AUDHD day while getting ready to work with my high support needs clients🥰. Hope you have a great week with all the spoons you need, Internet Friends❤.
Oh goodness, this is my first holiday season after gaining an official diagnosis. The only person in my family who is aware is my wife, but I'm still hoping for better scenarios this year than in years prior 🙃
I’m 98% done with the dress I’ve been crocheting from months. Just a few finishing touches left!!!! And thank you for the Christmas gift reminderrr. I started a month ago, but I didn’t realize how quickly it is coming up!
Today and tomorrow I am doing training for the substitute position I got hired on for for Headstart. I am a little nervous, but I'm glad to get started. Looking forward to more podcasts! Hope you have a good week, Claire and friends!💞
Self-care is good. Glad to hear you are making that a priority before the next round of busy. I feel less busy in the normal way I would have this season with homeschooling. No big school events other than my middle son's concert next month, maybe a dinner at church for the holidays and one to deal with at an undetermined point with in-laws ( I am pretty ok with all but the last. I am steeling myself for that. I expect many passive-aggressive pokes about my daughter dropping college). Well, somehow I know we will make it through. Look forward to more podcasts and hoping all continues well for you. Blessings on your week, friend.❤
Good morning Claire and friends. Congrats on the return of the Prodigal Sign. My weekly update... I found a neurodivergent-affirming therapist and that is giving me hope!
Claire, I watched and really enjoyed all your costume videos this past week. Everything looked so beautiful. I don't sew so it just looks like magic to me. Wishing you a nice restful week, you deserve it.
Yo, Claire good morning Doing big with the music, lately Saving up for a serious workstation the p.c. I'm building needs to be monitored 'might do a laptop build Very in love with farm life and a gymgoer that i have been following we have not had the chance to go to the same gym
Thanks for another awesome porch coffee!! The temperatures aligned - it's cold here too!! I am so grateful for your podcasts. And I will finally have a little bit of time to listen this week. Hope everyone has an great week!! ✨
Howdy Claire and internet peeps! This doesn't happen very often, me watching and even commenting on Porch Coffee on a Monday morning. Parent/teacher conferences are today so I get a day to try to catch up on some housework, my required annual online classes for work, and maybe even enjoy some more youtube vids. Also, I am shockingly only tired and not exhausted after a busy weekend with hosting a 'fun run' fundraiser Saturday and then traveling to spend Sunday playing cards with friends. I try to not have more than one major event on a weekend, but I knew I had today off to recuperate. And we have been doing the 'fun run' for eight years now, so everyone has carved out their roles in the function making it so much less stressful than the first couple years. The weather was seasonable cool and the leaves finally turning a rainbow of colors. It was a good day for a nature walk/run. Not like the 80`F (27`C) days we had last week and possibly again tomorrow. Yuk. I am refraining from going into a rant about tomorrow's elections. I will just say that it is rather important for neurodivergent folks and move on. I do hope you get some more submissions for 'Show and Tell' this week. Seeing some of other people's passions is quite enjoyable. Anywho, time to get my kiddo ready for therapy. Have a great today and a better tomorrow!
Hi Claire, I was walking to my parents house with a coffee yesterday and watching you and things have been busy s reply now on a Tuesday evening. I had a good week last week. We did Halloween at home. Have a great week and see you on RUclips soon. ❤
Hey Claire! I've been spending my monday mornings (more often it's tuesday, wednsday or worse ^^) listening to you for a few months now. I've been wanting to learn how to crochet for long but this year it was very hard at my work so I decided to go for it to have something to relax. So now, I listen to you while crocheting little gifts for my children's Christmas gifts : fidgets toys (frog pop-its, etc.), headbands, amigurumi... It's always a nice part of my weeks, so thanks for that ! And sorry if my english is not very good, I'm from Belgium 🙂
glad you mentioned self care, all of us need to be reminded occasionally. porch coffee has definitely improved since i began watching it a couple years ago now. i found you from the sewing videos so keep it up.
I always have anxiety around the holidays. My family doesn’t do much of anything around this time. But the anxiety comes from the new chapter that will come when the New Year comes. I’m going to purchase a new tongue drum today from my favorite new age store. The sound of a tongue is very relaxing. It reminds me of how a kalimba or a singing bowl would sound, or even a wind chime. The music store that I often go to also has tongue drums and a kalimba, but I already have a kalimba.
Good morning Claire, I'm so jealouse you get to warm wear clothes. Its been an extra long dry summer for me, doesn't really even feel like fall yet, let alone November! Not a knitter, but appreciate the reminder for christmas projects in general. I'm usually very last minute!
Hi Claire! I love your hat. :) And I'm glad you found the Mug Club sign! Good advice on balancing things. Life can get overwhelming sometimes, so it's good to make time for taking care of you. I don't do much for Halloween, but I do decorate my house for autumn with pumpkins and all.
Hi Claire! I agree... self care is so important. I have learned in the past year to prioritize that as needed and it's made a difference so much for me. Over here doing well. Just a couple of hours ago made it through a tornado warning where 2 towns away a tornado touched down. Hoping the area is not danaged too much and thankful for safety.
Love the nails! We have a trip to Hawaii in about a week and I'm working on a sundress for my sister and a hat for myself. So till those are done I can't even think about Christmas!!
I also am working on balancing my life. Slowly. So very slowly! But the next few weeks I get to practice being extra slow and kind. I read a comment about a tent and duvet and I’m onboard with that. Maybe we can have tent coffee. Oh! Camp coffee!
I need more self care this week. My blind friend took a curb wrong, and I have been helping her since her dominant side got beat up. Her family is also helping out, but she needs more care than we can do. Her seeing eye dog needs walks. I took a little bit of time to make brownies and to get a skein of yarn at JoAnns. Doing laundry today and relaxing from the weekend.
Thanks for the reminder about crafts heading into the last sprint before Christmas. 😅❤ Loads to do. Maybe I will even be able to film some of the things for my channel craftedbythreads I have a crochet project going for Christmas. :)
Balance is so important, right? I over scheduled October and paid the price but luckily, like you, I was able to rest this past week and I’m doing much better. Glad you are as well.
what's on your hat, a mushroom? its getting chilly in the mornings, you mught need a firepit on the porch;) self care is a wonderful thing. thanks for the reminder and I hope your week is restful and rejuvenating
When I don't have very much going on I find it easy to slip into the mind set that I can do as much as everyone else. I forget that # 'everyone else' is a term that;s been ingrained in me (by ableists) meaning Normies. As soon as life starts putting any pressure on me (let alone from myself) the wheels very quickly come off and I'm forcibly reminded that autism means NOT like everyone else. I empathise with your plight. I have watched PC for a few yrs now & I have noticed a change. You do seem more 'natural' than you did. Whether if feels like that to you maybe a different matter. my wk: Starting to detect some side effects of the chemo. Mild so far and I have a rest wk now. Still I'm sure at this point I won't make it to the end of the course without further dose reductions if at all. No biggy as this just precautionary treatment. More Daleks bought (11) from 2" tall to 18". Picked up a nice '80s synth (casio vz1) at the boot sale last wk for £50. Nice. As a result been playing about with my collection. One day I might actually be able to make some music. Coincidentally discovered a couple more 70s synth tracks that I never knew about that are exactly my taste in synth music. All by Tim Blake the best 2 being 'a magick circle' and 'synthese temporel' if anyone's interested in my musical taste (if you want my all time fav listen to Tangerine dream 'Ricochet'). just remembered - I called in on an old friend yesterday, entirely impromptu ! so unlike me but I was driving past his house and had time to do so - so did. wtf. 'til we meet again!
Seasonal weather changes are funny that way - the change always seems to be a long way off until it happens all at once (I'm suddenly reminded of the Monty Python "falling leaves" cartoon in The Meaning of Life.) Weatherproofed some windows, rewatched The Exorcist. I don't celebrate xmas (winter solstice for the win) but the annual Exorcist rewatch is personally akin to A Christmas Carol or It's A Wonderful Life. Also I find it increasingly ironic that US presidential elections happen the week following Halloween, like an extended costume contest pageant. Coincidence? 🤔
It is hard to determine the balance, especially since the culture has a definition of balance that may not be true. I almost waiting till Wednesday to watch to avoid the political ads.
Hi! It was good to be reminded about self care, before and during the upcoming season❤
I’m glad you think so too - things are about to get busy for a lot of people

I wish you well with your new endeavor!
Just bring a ginormous duvet and a tent for next Mondays Porch coffee. That should keep you warm and calm.
Great idea! I do need to come up with a solution - maybe one of those electric coats?!

Yeah. Spoons. Using those utensils mindfully can turn into its own surprising endeavor. For sure.
Oh goodness, this is my first holiday season after gaining an official diagnosis.
