Hi Claire, So glad you're week was good! I lose things too while organizing sometimes. I usually find them when I'm looking for something else. 😅 Week was good here! Today had a dental appointment just for a cleaning. I have been going to the same dental place for at least 10 years. So knowing what to expect, the people, the building, that it's just a smaller office... all helps my neurodivergent anxiety. Makes the not pleasant necessity not overwhelming.

Last week took a turn that was unexpected. I had training for becoming a home health aide for my son and had to drive to Pittsburgh. I handled that ok, but I hurt my Achilles heel and in the morning I couldn't put weight on my foot. I went to the doctor and it is fine but strained, so I have to wear a boot for 2 weeks. I'm really bummed I will be missing out on the pumpkin patch and trick or treating. My followup is on Halloween, so I'm hoping I can take the boot off then! I can walk but it's awkward and can't go for long distances. Both my kids got sick over the weekend, so I have to take them to the doctor today. Not exactly how I expected the week to start, but it is the season for being sick lol. Take care, Claire and friends! 💞

I finally started strattera to treat my ADHD after dragging my feet for almost 2 years. It takes time to fully start working, but my first week of taking it has been nice. It’s a tiny bit easier to go do a thing, and that’s made a big difference. It’s mostly helped alleviate the dysthymia, and for that I’m grateful. Hopefully things stay positive and no lasting side effects pop up. I’m almost done crocheting my dress, and my partner had the idea that I use it for a Harvest Witch costume for Halloween. So I’m making a spiderweb sweater and a witch hat to complete the look. I’m excited. :)
starting new meds and getting things dialed in is hard - i applaud you for getting started! ummmmmmmm spiderweb sweater i am so jealous. I have seen them before and I would like to make one but who knows when that will happen. I bet it looks amazing.
Morning, glad that it sounds like you had a pretty good week. Liz's board game collection looks awesome! I love board games to and recognized a few I've played myself in her collection also. I recently found out that I'm going to be an uncle. I always doubted that I'd be a great parent because my social batteries drain pretty fast, but I firmly believe I can be a great uncle so I'm pretty excited about that.
Hi, Claire and other internet friends! Other than my usual week of driving my wife back and forth to and from work, doing house chores (including caring for four cats and dozens of plants), and taking online yoga and qigong classes, I went to the Lower East Side of Manhattan to see Autistic Australian comic Hannah Gadsby on Thursday Night. Saturday afternoon, we saw the Metropolitan Opera HD cinema stream of the contemporary opera ‘Grounded.’ And yesterday, we did a three mile nature walk, taking in the early autumn, watching the birds, and photographing mushrooms.
Hi Claire and other internet friends! I haven't commented in a month or more, my energy has returned and I'm not spending as much time watching videos. Two weeks ago, I started a new job and so far so good! I'm currently crocheting hats for a local NICU and I'm continuing to work on my WIPs. The week that starts in 2 days will include a trip to an Open Studio night at my LYS. Halloween isn't something I look forward to each year, as an October baby, I do enjoy everything else about Autumn.
I finished my cross stitch dragon piece. Just a large field guide of dragons. I tried to teach how to crochet a pumpkin at a church craft event. Attendance was small but that was all the better.
Starting to feel like autumn here as well Had our first freeze two days ago... well over a month later than normal. Unfortunately this means the bugs and yellow jackets are everywhere.
Hi Claire. Thanks for showing up this Monday morning. I feel ya on the Etsy thing. I have an Etsy shop for embroidery designs and I haven’t done a thing with it for two months. And I can’t seem to make myself… well, you know. Seems like I can be chugging along at a regular pace quite well, until SOMEthing happens to disrupt my flow. And that’s it. It’s literally months later before I can get back at it. I HATE that. Maybe this week will be when I bite the bullet and get back to it. 🤞🏻 Meanwhile, I’m crocheting away…. I finished a fall themed afghan, started a Christmas themed afghan, took a short break and made an orange hunting beanie for my husband. Oh…I also hatched a whole bunch of chickens and they are currently living in my Mudroom.
It is encouraging to me to know I am not the only one who struggles to keep up with their etsy - your experience describes me so well. it's been months since i did a drop, and i am finally feeling like i can get back to it... now i just have to - CONGRATS on the new chickens
Love the crows. Seems like you guys are becoming friends lol. My week was cool, been spending hours on my violin. I'm glad you're feeling good where you're at and comfortable. See you at your next podcast. Oh almost forgot a live would be awesome. I wake up early.
Loving the progress you make on the channel every week, Claire! TBH, my personal change progress is starting to weigh me down mentally. Birthday's this week and for the first time in forever, I don't feel like celebrating. I feel like I'm in kind of a holding pattern waiting for the next big step forward, but in the meantime all the other immediate stuff going on (birthday, friendships, work, the "e-word") are just providing so much turbulence and just shaking me to my core. Not meaning to emotion dump or anything, but maybe I need to take a mental health day from work and find time to get back in the gym to work off all these sore joints that keep bugging me.
Thank you Claire! It's been a rough week, which is why it took me so long to comment - I finally finished watching this episode just now. But I wanted to let you know that you made my week a little brighter! Thank you for being such an awesome person!
My week was mixed. I ended up with a cold after seeing my family the weekend before (my brother has two young school aged kids and they are basically always sick), and I’m missing my dad a lot (he passed away 3yrs ago and he loved this time of year. But I also adopted the last snake on my wishlist (a spotted python) from Snake Discovery’s rescue program, and I’m completely smitten. And the colors are finally changing so it has been really pretty outside. I have a phone job interview this morning, paws crossed it goes well! Finding part time work as a disabled person is HARD. Times of growth are also hard, I get that. Hang in there and you’ll eventually come out on the other side and see how worth it the process was! Maybe you (or your dog) could dress up as a crow lol. A crow with a porch coffee mug, to represent the crows that always join porch coffee 🐦⬛☕️
Sorry to hear about the cold. You got another snake! SO COOL! I so want to be okay with holding one and feeling comfortable. Pythons get pretty big right? Like I know the ones you have will get long but a Python will also get "wide" correct? (I don't know what word I am looking for) I love the crow costume idea - I think we have figured out what we are going as this year I can't wait for you to see
@@WoodshedTheory Some pythons get GIANT (like some of the huge ones at the Reptarium) but the there are lots of different kinds and sizes. The one I got is one of the smallest type of python and I think they grow to a similar size as a corn snake and they stay fairly slender compared to some of the heavier bodied pythons (like ball pythons). Brian has a video showing spotted, children’s and stimson’s pythons, if you’re curious! I think it would come up if you searched Brian Barczyk and children’s pythons. There’s also an even smaller related python, the pygmy python. Green Room Pythons on youtube has a young one and it’s so tiny and cute! 🥰
Lost things... I'll put that somewhere safe - so safe no one will ever find it. Show & tell - I can see at least two still unopened 👍good work. Looking for / asking for help & support as late Dxer is so common. Also is a trauma response. The 1st casualty of a shty childhood. You learn so early on help isn't coming. Even (as in my case) before you can speak, crying making a fuss gets no response or worse more abuse. This gets reinforced later when you have no friends to ask for help or support. So you learn you can only rely on yourself. my wk: SAD is tarting to kick in. Not helped by my SAD lamp offing itself. Starting 'mop up' chemo today. Just the tablets this time The infusions was horrible last time so refused that. Also starting on a reduced dose. This meant to last 3 mnths, whoopie.
I tend to say I'm late for porch coffee... or something like that... when I don't get to watch it until Tuesday, which happens sometimes. I haven't been commenting as much. Just been going through a lot. It got really cold here early last week... around freezing... now it's about 23 C/ 70-ish F. It's probably going to drop again, but I'll enjoy the nice few days while I can.
Sorry to hear you are going through a lot. Please don't worry about commenting, the videos will be here when you get back, the important thing it to take care of yourself first.
@@WoodshedTheory I just don't always have something to say and don't want to complain about all my problems. 😅 I enjoy watching Porch Coffee. I do watch all the videos. I haven't had a chance to watch the latest podcast yet. I'll try to watch it tomorrow. The weekend was rough.
I often misplace things when cleaning or reorganizing. Sometimes they're lost forever 🙄. Well done on the podcast, I'm a few episodes behind but will catch up soon
So, you're saying that you know that your life is going to be about processing experiences, and knowing that takes away the panic? Maybe I should consider this. I've been in a survival mode for so long, my quality of life going downhill, that I think it's going to be a chore to process enough to get out of survival mode. I'm trying to get into the headspace to write my novel (I've got bits and pieces done in fits and starts), and I think the I'm going to need to get out of survival mode in order to immerse in world building. I'll be considering your words and trying to get there. Wish me luck!
I am not sure it takes away all of the panic, as I do have an anxiety disorder, but I think it does put things into perspective for me and help me process it all in a more healthy way. Good luck, you got this!
Hey Claire, hope you have a lovely week. Not much to report here. Kittens are 15 weeks tomorrow and are now the size of a full grown house cat pretty much, i have ear ache/infection which is painful so have an appointment with the doctor tonight, and .... oh yes I will never learn the I have put something in a safe place thing.... I loose everything like that, or I will somethings place and then forget that new place but will remember the item i moved and when I moved it just not where to! It's fatal.... I started taking photos of items I'd moved in their new home but then I could never find the picture again on my phone 😆
Hi Helen - are the cats large? I know they are half Main Coone but I don't think Hydra is that large. oh gosh I love the idea of taking pictures of where you put things - I have been trying to come up with organization solutions so I can see everything better - mixed results
@@WoodshedTheory yes Hydra is small but Mike tells me her parents were both quite big, I'm think his words were massive, 😂 and judging how big our 2 are already I'm think they could be a fair size. They are 15 weeks now and already the size of my ordinary childhood tabby (he wasn't overly big) I would say they are petite adult cat size at the moment, but they are eating at least 3 full pouches of kitten food daily plus a helping of biscuit as well. They have big cat appetites. Maurice is busy purring and kneading me at the moment. 😆
Hi Claire, I’m sick just now with a head cold / sinus infection so I’m feeling dizzy. It sucks being Autistic and unwell. I’m actually within burnout right now which between my feeling ill and my PDA, I’m struggling to have any drive to do anything. I hope you’re well? I’m watching this with a coffee in my hand 😊
@@shapeofsoup Thank you so much. I had surgery 2 and a half years ago and had a septoplasty to attempt to fix a deviated septum, remove a sinus cyst blocking my sinus and a turbinate reduction. I thought having this done would make me less susceptible to sinus infections but in the last few months, they’ve been creeping back in more frequently than one would like. My sensory hates being ill as I cannot get comfortable right now. I’m also going to be busy with working full time from Wednesday to Saturday doing 10 hour days and have a performance as a musician on Sunday leading a band. My energy levels are in the red. No matter how much sleep I get, it’s never enough right now 😢
@@WoodshedTheory Thank you Claire. It sucks for sure. The weather changes in Scotland aren’t helping with it. I’m just making sure that I wear a jacket and keep wrapped up when going outside. I really appreciate your channel. I’ve followed, yourself, Jen, Taylor and Orion for a while. You guys are great 😊
wait.... you cannot speak of doggos in costumes and not show pics HAHAHAH. I also love Autism show and tell. =) my week was interesting not good or bad just... meh.... oh and expensive...
Isn't the way to find the sign to start cleaning and then ask yourself what is the most logical place for it. 🤔 Edit Petition to do a dog costume show and tell if there are no submissions.
My two cats were in costume. I swear they acted as if they were dying they kept falling to the side😂😂. Prince was a Bat with wings, and Saffy was a beautiful Unicorn. The most important thing is I have pictures😂😂.
OMG, I thought I lost things. I was diagnosed 2 months ago at the age of 54 with Autism and ADHD. As I reflect on my life I look back and think to myself oh yeah how did I not see that as being Autistic🤦♀🤦♀

I recently found out that I'm going to be an uncle. I always doubted that I'd be a great parent because my social batteries drain pretty fast, but I firmly believe I can be a great uncle so I'm pretty excited about that.
Congratulations on becoming an Uncle!
Saturday afternoon, we saw the Metropolitan Opera HD cinema stream of the contemporary opera ‘Grounded.’ And yesterday, we did a three mile nature walk, taking in the early autumn, watching the birds, and photographing mushrooms.
cats, plants, yoga, getting to see Hannah Gadbsy live (hilarious autistic comic) and more! - sounds like a very nice life to me
Internet Friends - mugs and t-shirts!
Yes to the internet friends t-shirt 👍
Or a porch coffee internet friends mug? Or both!
thanks for the input and good ideas
Happy Monday! This is my 2nd and I really like it.
welcome!
Good Morning Claire.
Hi Spencer!
Whoa that’s an awesome board game collection, Liz!
it's so cool
Hi Claire and other internet friends! I haven't commented in a month or more, my energy has returned and I'm not spending as much time watching videos. Two weeks ago, I started a new job and so far so good! I'm currently crocheting hats for a local NICU and I'm continuing to work on my WIPs. The week that starts in 2 days will include a trip to an Open Studio night at my LYS. Halloween isn't something I look forward to each year, as an October baby, I do enjoy everything else about Autumn.
Fantastic job on the podcast, Claire!
thanks trying my best
I finished my cross stitch dragon piece. Just a large field guide of dragons. I tried to teach how to crochet a pumpkin at a church craft event. Attendance was small but that was all the better.
no way! i bet it looks amazing. also good on you for teaching crochet - i think a lot of people want to learn
Starting to feel like autumn here as well
Had our first freeze two days ago... well over a month later than normal. Unfortunately this means the bugs and yellow jackets are everywhere.
Happy to hear you are feeling better. 🤗
Thanks Leila
Meanwhile, I’m crocheting away….
Morning Claire, greetings from Italy!
Good morning!
So cool, Liz!! Your love of games and biology really shines through :) Claire--I envision you dressing up as a giant skein of yarn lol.
If I become a giant skein of yarn I may never go back to being human.
@@WoodshedTheory it would be sensory heaven, I’m sure
Hi...struggling but ok enough. Making myself a coffee now. Gonna look into your mugs. I love mugs. Greetings from Germany.
Love the crows. Seems like you guys are becoming friends lol. My week was cool, been spending hours on my violin. I'm glad you're feeling good where you're at and comfortable. See you at your next podcast. Oh almost forgot a live would be awesome. I wake up early.
It would be amazing to have crow friends. That is amazing that you play the violin.
@@WoodshedTheory thank you. it is very hard to play but i like it.
I hear you - please make sure to take good care of yourself, you deserve it.
Thank you Claire! It's been a rough week, which is why it took me so long to comment - I finally finished watching this episode just now. But I wanted to let you know that you made my week a little brighter! Thank you for being such an awesome person!
Thanks Liz
@@WoodshedTheory I look forward to seeing the Halloween costume! 👻🎃
Dropping in very quickly to say "Hi" and "I'm very busy coding and I happened to have a few minutes" *disappears again*
Yes I can relate to that - maybe I need someone with me while I "put things away/ clean" so they can remember for me!
Ugh I’m right there with you on the sinus infection. It’s the worst. Get well soon!
No matter how much sleep I get, it’s never enough right now 😢
I am bummed to hear about the sinus infection - those are the worst :( I hope things improve for you soon, remember to be kind to yourself
You guys are great 😊
I’m okay.
Internet breaks are the one, gotta be done as least three times a year for me.
That is actually a good idea - I hadn't considered it but I will.
wait.... you cannot speak of doggos in costumes and not show pics HAHAHAH. I also love Autism show and tell. =) my week was interesting not good or bad just... meh.... oh and expensive...
Sorry to hear about the expensive week - those weeks always SUCK. I think I do have one video and one short that have to do with doggo costumes :)
Isn't the way to find the sign to start cleaning and then ask yourself what is the most logical place for it. 🤔
Edit
Petition to do a dog costume show and tell if there are no submissions.
great idea on the show and tell!
+woodshedtheory *RUclips™ did a weird one on the Description this vid.* Black on charcoal rather than white on black.
sometimes I run into that as well - sometimes when it switches from day to night mode, etc.
Was that a real bird ??? 😅
The sound was real - the video is not lol
My two cats were in costume. I swear they acted as if they were dying they kept falling to the side😂😂. Prince was a Bat with wings, and Saffy was a beautiful Unicorn. The most important thing is I have pictures😂😂.
OMG, I thought I lost things. I was diagnosed 2 months ago at the age of 54 with Autism and ADHD. As I reflect on my life I look back and think to myself oh yeah how did I not see that as being Autistic🤦♀🤦♀
Hi, Claire I just saw the lineup for Autistic jenny's video I'm really excited just subscribed to your channel.
welcome - I can't wait to see Jenny's video
@@WoodshedTheory me too it's going to be exciting 10 creators.
I had no idea that my Diamond Art collection would be considered a special interest. Someday when I have my place, I will make a video on my special interest on my channel.
that sounds cool! I haven't tried diamond painting but I have watched others work on paintings online and it looks relaxing
@WoodshedTheory it is my friend Dixie got me into and I'm obsessed. My daughter said do you really need more. I said to myself yes 😂.
If your dog was a girl he could be Princess Leia, but who says he can't be Princess Leia. He's gender-fluid😂😂
I love animal crossing. I need to find friends who love the game.
