This is not a training issue. Amber Guyger showed the world she was a racist masquerading as a police officer. There are many other police officers who share her racist mindset.
I postulate that Officer Goodnight receive the correct training (biased training that is) to regard Minority Communities with gross and grave suspicion and as a threat. Look at his actions.
NO ONE was speaking of the fact that THIS WAS ONLY a "welfare check". A cop IS SUPPOSED TO knock on a door to do a welfare check!!! NOTHING ELSE, BEFORE DOING THAT!!! Period!!! You do NOT walk around the outside of a home, walking past TWO, (NOT ONE, BUT TWO) open doors of the home, AND NEVER knock on either door to announce your presence, ALL WHILE shining flashlights in the windows, prowling & whispering as you go. THIS IS INSANE!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!!
It takes more time to become a hairdresser than a police officer in the U.S. Body cam and cell phones are exposing how inept our police truly are. Now it’s time people demand a higher quality police.
I used to live in baltimore maryland. most of the police that work in our neighborhood were mainly black and latino. one time one of our neighbors called the police for a wellness check because our smoke alarm was going off. when the police came our alarm turned off. so the officer knocked on the door and said ma’am this is the police we just want to know if everything is ok. we let the officers in the house and told them about how the alarm battery was low so we had to change it. btw when the police entered they had no guns pulled. then the police left and told us to remember to change the batteries. If it were a racist cop they would have broken our door and arrested us with arson
I think the most sad thing here is that this was a welfare check. Someone cared about her and wanted to protect her safety but in turn was the thing that got her killed. People shouldn't have to be terrified to make sure there relatives or family are alright. Imagine that feeling possibly being out of state or far away and calling for someone to check on someone you care for and the next response you get back is that they're dead due to misjudgment of the person sent to make sure they were ok.
Shouldn't be a police officer if you're that scared
Insanity, all he had to do is knock on the door.
I think it’s a lack of respect towards the people in the community that some of these cops have. I don’t think it’s just fear.

Words like: Is anybody home? This is the Police Department! How hard that can be for a trained officer?
He was trained to fear...same as Amber Guyger!
Reevaluate who these police departments are hiring.

Extremely poor training!
