- A Fort Worth police officer shot and killed a woman inside her own home early Saturday while responding to a call, officials said.
This was the first time the department appeared before cameras since the shooting happened.

If the homeowner had a gun it's because someone who was unannounced was stalking around the home. Had the officer done the right thing this would have never happened.

You know if she had shot HIM, a shadowy figure prowling around her house in the middle of the night, she would be sitting in jail.

@ chase downey I'm a 25 year veteran police officer and I have been on calls EXACTLY like this one thousands if not ten's of thousands of times over my 25 year plus career and I could not agree with you more. Having said that, we gotta wait for all the facts to come out. I personally think the whole announce or not announce depends on the exact circumstances of the SPECIFIC CALL FOR SERVICE but in this case I also think it's a MOOT POINT because I don't even think the Officer meant to fire his weapon. It looks to me like he didn't even mean to pull the trigger in the first place. Let's see how it plays out shall we...
R Sjr I keep feeling we need to wait as well. But then can not possibly think of any scenario where this would be justifiable. She had every right to shoot him. That being said, I still don’t even think she had a gun or pointed it him. But then just full circle back that even if she did, she had every right to do so.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking🙏 Although I realize the news anchor didn’t mean anything bad by his statement, but just that the child wasn’t physically harmed. This incident was so very tragically unnecessary-the one who was supposed to be getting checked on by the police ended up killed by the police.🤯

I've watched that body cam footage several times,even slowed the speed down.And at no time did I see anyone moving through the window.Actually you can't see through the window.Why he didn't announce he was the police?Why did he have his gun drown for a wellness check?

Said they had cause to be there. Yet they won’t say what it was. The DA here did the right thing and filed charges on one officer. The others nothing happened.

I am betting the gun was found in an adjacent room, or in a closed drawer. That’s why these dirty cops don’t want to say where the gun was found in the home in relation to the victim.
either way, a citizen can be armed, and since he didnt declare he was an officer, I dont see him getting a way with it. Slowlh but surely officers are started to be convucted for killing innocent people Not all oay the price, but juries are starting to stop being so against convicting an officer.

There's alot of factors involved behind closed doors. They are putting out fires. This is not going away. This officer will be arrested. They are probably letting him get personal things in order. Maybe even move his family to safty if he has one. They are getting lawyered UP.
yeah why would he park away like that, is it that bad of a crime area and anti police that they can't even park in the open...I hope the neighbors are safe, I worry what some of the anti cop activists who probably see them as villains for calling the police in the first place when they were probably concerned and genuinely looking out for a neighbor they thought might need help.

Let me guess how this goes. They where n a, "high crime area." They, "didn't find the officer's actions where the best but did everything correct because..." Xyz. They r, "working hand and hand with the investigation and trying to release what they can but it's an ongoing invitation." They want to, "rebuild their relationship with the community after these kinds of incidence." Or here is the one they love to use: "we can't release the officers name because this is an open investigation." Meanwhile, the news isn't using a thing called the freedom of information act to get any of this out to the public about this officer but would/will/do release every black suspected criminal they can. Better believe they will try to flip this on Atatiana Jefferson and her nephew and how they could have done something to prevent this tragedy. This is the second case lately, where an Africa-America was shot by a police officer. Botham Jean and now Atatiana Jefferson, both just 28 years old in the state of TEXAS (31 miles apart). Mr. Jean in his apartment and now Ms. Jefferson in her home. Is The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." is this only for some people?? This guy was doubtless not popular. Cops with lots of friends never face consequences. Cops without friends don't benefit from the "blue wall of silence."
Cops are giving their buddy time to 1) get his excuses figured out, and 2) scrub his social media.
But why did the neighbor feel the need to call the police? For a welfare check because the door was open, lights were on and their cars wete in the driveway. He did Not see or hear anything suspicious that would warrant him to call the police to do a welfare check in the first place. Had he not called.....she would be alive.
Sue them for all they got! Sue the cop also! Make him homeless and jobless!
So far I'm happy that the police admitted that the officer did NOT announce that he was the police. That proves that they are being forth coming so far. Let's just see how the rest unfolds. Sometimes the officers are more afraid than the burglars are, even though there were no burglars there.

So... What the FWPD wants us to believe is that:
1. They received a call from a neighbor for a welfare check
2. The cop could not have knocked on the CLEARLY OPENED door and announce who he was.
3. Upon going to the rear of the house, he could not AGAIN, announce who he was and why he was there
4. Upon going to a window with BLINDS he couldn't , yet again, announce who he was or why he was there
5. He was justified in telling someone who wasn't expecting company to show their hands through a window with BLINDS, that you or the other person can't see through, while shining a spotlight (which blinds you)
6. It was protocol to shoot someone you cannot see and haven't corresponded with in milliseconds because they looked through the blinds to see who is shining a light and yelling on THEIR PROPERTY
7. That someone having A GUN IN THEIR HOME IS THE REASON WHEN YOU COULDN'T SEE THE PERSON OR THE GUN IN THE FIRST PLACE BEFORE YOU MURDERED THEM

When a Police tenders a letter of resignation, it has to be accepted for his resignation to take effect. And since he resigned and is no longer afforded due process of a police officer, why is he not charged right away instead of being allowed to roam the streets freely to possibly interfere with witnesses and evidence.
