  • A jury on Tuesday sentenced former Fort Worth police officer Aaron Dean to 11 years, 10 months and 12 days in prison for the 2019 killing of Atatiana Jefferson. A jury found Dean, who was initially indicted on a murder charge, guilty of manslaughter last week for fatally shooting Jefferson, a Black woman, through the rear window of her Texas home. The sentence did not make Dean eligible for parole, and he will need to serve at least half of his prison sentence to be eligible. Watch CBS DFW's coverage.

Listen to what he said very carefully, he gave that man credit for time served, from the beginning of the case up until that very day of sentencing, meaning that man has to only serve 2.5 years to be eligible for parole and will probably walk right on out, cause this case has been going on for 3 years, so his house arrest is being accredited, as part of the sentence. N E W L O N D O N, Conn., Sept. 8, 2000 -- A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York upheld a lower court’s decision that the city did not discriminate against Robert Jordan because the same standards were applied to everyone who took the test.
Jordan, a 49-year-old college graduate, took the exam in 1996 and scored 33 points, the equivalent of an IQ of 125. But New London police interviewed only candidates who scored 20 to 27. They don't want people that are smart and critical thinkers. They want order followers.

@@uneedasims1266 Ok I didn't think that made sense. He should have zero days credited then. I know he had bonded out but didn't know it was the same day, much less 4 hours after he was taken into custody. Nevermind being free on bond this entire time. He was taken into custody right after his conviction. Are they by any chance counting that time up to today of sentencing?
