  • Jurors found former Fort Worth police officer Aaron Dean guilty of manslaughter, but not murder in the killing of Atatiana Jefferson in 2019.
    Outside the courtroom, emotions ran high. The majority of the crowd said they felt a manslaughter conviction was not good enough. They felt Dean should have been found guilty of murder.
    The former officer’s defense team argued that Dean acted in self-defense when he shot Atatiana Jefferson through a window in the early morning hours of Oct. 12, 2019.

    Good. You can't be lurking outside a person's home and not expect them to defend their it, especially when you shine a flashlight in their window. Plus he didn't announce that he was the police. All he yelled was "show me your hands", 2 times before firing.

    Wow this is a terrible tragedy they had both doors I think it said open because they had burnt hamburgers and wanted to get to smoke out a neighbor calls police saying suspicious activity the doors are open so the police show up he sees something in the window some accounts say he saw a figure with a gun some accounts say he did not see a gun he does yell show me your hands they say within a second he shoots and didn't give any more time for the person to show their hands but it would only take another second or two if there was a person that was a burglar to shoot him dead.
    I mean the cop went there because someone called and the cop is thinking it could be an active burglary and it's in the dark and I'm sure he's nervous anybody would be cop or no cop he's doing his job would someone else have done what he did another officer probably not maybe he should have just left that area quickly went to the front say I don't know what I saw but I don't want to take any chances let's get some better lighting let's surround the perimeter I don't know but he did not intend to murder this woman so these calls for racial Justice and police accountability I mean he did not intend to kill her he was there trying to protect whoever might be living in that home this was a terrible terrible tragedy because she wanted to let the smoke out of the house from the burnt hamburgers and who couldn't blame her she was an innocent in all of this but I don't believe that he should spend 20 years in prison at all and that's not to take away anything from this young girl losing her life it was a terrible tragedy if you want to call the guy not a good cop or whatever if you want to sue him civilly even but he's not a murderer yes he shot yes she died but he did not intend to kill her that's why they came up with manslaughter
    I mean wow sad story but the fact that she did have a gun that's credibility that he might have seen a gun and she had every right to have a gun and every right to carry it to the window just like him he doesn't know what's going on she doesn't know what's going on he suspects a burglar she suspects an intruder and you have two people with guns and a little bit of a panic State there and this tragedy happened but I don't think he should do hard time at all I'm sorry but in today's world you know they want to fry him what a shame. The whole thing is terrible well if we didn't have criminals the way that we do as much as we do which is the root cause of all this drama it would be a much better world

      @valjeanlee7060 Год назад

      Somethings I agree with...but most of it I don't...sounds like you're making excuses for his actions..the cop was called for a nonemergency welfare check. Why would he think someone was in danger...why did he not announce himself at any open front door..he was the only one moving like burglar..no I don't think it was racial, and I don't think it was on purpose...but her death could have prevented...and it's sad that you speak up for the cop, but you didn't mention one word about the child who had his aunt gunned down right in front of him..he will forever be traumatized...I'm disappointed in us as a society...

    • @rjman7504
      @rjman7504 Год назад

      @@valjeanlee7060 the one I guess I missed the part about the child being there with her I was focused on the incident involving him and her. As far as him being called there for non-emergency welfare check it was my understanding that he was called there because it was suspicious that the back door was open which to me intimates that it's a possible burglary.
      If a cop is going to investigate a possible burglary does he go out and start yelling police and let the burglar know what does he try to ascertain what's going on first I don't think he'd want to give the burglar a possible Omniverse I hear I am shoot me kind of notice I don't know what police procedure is but I don't think it would be that. I am not trying to make excuses... For the officer I think 20 years is a bit of a stretch and that's not to take away from that young woman losing her life that was a terrible thing to happen but I don't believe that he murdered her intended to murder her or anything like that I think it was a tragedy. I went on to say sue him civilly hold him responsible maybe he's not meant for the PD but 20 years no. As far as you be saddened by what we've become as a society I hope you mean how many dirtbags are in this world committing all sorts of burglaries and crimes . In Fayetteville North Carolina yesterday a 23 year old law enforcement officer was called to a circle k about a robbery you see while he's there a drunk driver on a restricted license with no insurance no registration and what not hits the guy the cop and kills him and then flees. In Raleigh North Carolina someone hit a 12-year-old girl across in the street and kept on going and killed it you mean these things these elements of society or you still mad at me because I forgot that there was a little girl there but to be honest the cop was called to that house the woman did go to the window with a gun that's what I was focused on you must be a Democrat cuz you have a bit of that woke mentality oh my goodness the little girl was there the little girl was there I'm glad she was not harmed but remember the answer she's dead the cop is facing 20 years
