I was lucky to have watched the young Bobby play right in our living room in Schenectady, NY. No film will ever compare to those real memories, but I hope the filmmakers really tried with this one.

My Father introduced me to Bob Dylan’s music in the 80ies when I was just a young kid. I got hooked instantly! At the time it was mostly Dylan’s 80’s tunes & onward. It wasn’t until my Dad was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2020 before I heard Dylan’s original and older albums. He would sit down for hours listening to The Freewheelin’ Album. Eye’s closed, foot stomping, & singing from his soul! It’s almost like the whole world stopped and everything was going to be ok with what my Dad was battling. This album was his medicine and not only did it help him, it helped me. There is not a day that I don’t put that album on. It pulls me away from all the world’s nonsense and BS. I was 3 months pregnant with my first child when we went to see Bob Dylan. My daughter (quite a few years older) said she wished she could attend a Dylan concert. I told her she had been to a Dylan concert....in the womb. He was and will always be Bob Dylan songwriter, performer, and really cooooooool! Far out man!
Good lord, I remember 10-12 years ago, watching almost all the old interviews, songs, videos of Boy Dylan, anything available on RUclips at that time, I used to watch it all. And Timothee looks sooo much like Bob Dylan with his style, his looks, his mannerisms, gestures.. I was blown away into the wind with this trailer.
Movie was phenomenal. It got me into Bob Dylan HARD. Now I'm playing all his songs on guitar, listening to all his albums and learning more about his life and this is a few weeks after i finished my second watch!
I was never a huge Dylan fan but the two trailers for this movie have unlocked a much deeper appreciation for his song writing ability. "Well, if you go when the snowflakes storm, When the rivers freeze and summer ends, Please see if she’s wearing a coat so warm, To keep her from the howlin’ winds"...what a poetic lyrics.
Hope this movie gets you into Dylan. His lyrics are incredible enough to earn him Nobel prize in literature. If you like Girl From The North Country, please try Boots of Spanish Leather. It uses the the same melody with better lyrics. ruclips.net/video/iOHkyZ62jjQ/видео.html This cover is the best version of the song as it is sung in duet as intended by the songwriter.
My favorite part of the song: "I wonder if she remembers me at all; many times, I've hoped and prayed; in the darkness of my nights; in the brightness of my days." The singer's deepest prayer is not that they will get back together, if they ever were together; he prays to God and hopes beyond hope that.....she just remembers him at all. This song is heartbreak and longing at it's most mature; remarkable that a young man had such an old soul.

Saw this. It's really good. A well-done period piece, set in the early 1960s - highlights the rise of folk music into the mainstream - and Bob Dylan as the vehicle that makes that happen. Really enjoyed every scene. Warning - the stars smoke like chimneys throughout the entire film - which is pretty much how it was back then. Dylan remains an enigma - because the person behind the persona is never really revealed - and I think that's how he was to most people who knew him.

Honestly, most docu/musician movies don't make a part 2. Most of us know how it turned out because we're baby boomers. We get made fun of by the younger generation but deep down they're jealous. @scapito one thing I didn't care for was at the end ... having to read all those words. on the theatre screen. I would have preferred to end it with Bob and Sara Lowndes getting married in November 1965, and riding off into the sunset.
The way Timothée Chalamet can portray totally different characters in a way that you don't even see it's him underneath that new personality is so amazing and just shows how much of a versatile actor he is, TRULY one of the best actors of these days and no matter how much you hate him or be sick to see is face on the big screen - if he became a big name on the industry is because he definitely has something special over all the other actors. He's going for his first Oscar for this role (and it's gonna be VERY well deserved), write it down
Ok this looks like it’s gonna be good. I was never worried about Timothee’s acting, it’s the singing I was skeptical about. But he sounds great. I’ll be watching!
Saw the film last night. The effort by all the performers is staggering. They play their own instruments and sing all their own songs (Dylan's songs) It is stunning what they have captured.
It’s finally here! Being a devoted Dylan fan, I can say this seems way better than expected. Cate as Dylan was the best one for me but Chalamet here 🤌✨ The voice Chalamet’s voice 🤌 This better get him an oscar
A well acted and presented film that portrays a very self involved Bob Dylan, who wanted what he wanted. It showed him as an artist that felt he knew what his music should be and it wasn't what some producer wanted him to play. He wanted to lead rather than follow. The music was great, and personally I could have used even more of it. The back story of Woody Guthrie was sad but it did show the effect he had on people, especially Dylan. The supporting cast especially, Ed Norton as Pete Seeger was exceptional. I highly recommend this film.
I didn't know why Woody was in the hospital so looked it up after the movie - he had Huntington's Disease, awful. btw, one interesting thing the movie captures about that time was that smoking was allowed even in hospitals, and even by the patients!
Can't wait to see this guy teaming up with Elton John, Freddie Mercury, The Beatles, David Bowie, Elvis Presley to save Michael Jackson from Doctor Doom in the Multiverse
Good movie, generally accurate historically (with a few things changed to make the story work better--some of them by Bob himself!). Best line of the film: "People always ask where the songs come from. But they don't really want to know where the songs come from. They want to know why the songs don't come to them."
Excited for this, Bob Dylan is one of my favourite 60's singers, his music really makes feel something, to see Timothee Chalamet portraying this legend is a blessing in disguise.
Once Like A Rolling Stone started the chills came on too, Timothee sounds awesome and perfectly captured the vibe of that song with his voice, he isn't trying to sound EXACTLY like Dylan, he is trying to embody the way Dylan sang and from what i heard he has done it.
Chalamet deserves an Oscar; this is it. THey can't ignore this fella anymore; I wasn't expecting much but the he did very well in this trailer. Same as the Joan Baez actress
Been a Dylan fan since I was in middle school. Nearly 40 now and am so excited to see this film with a great cast and an equally great director. Mangold is a suburb choice.
Fabulous Flic ! I met J. Cash, in Frisco, in 1974 and I was in awe ! Forget to ask him about meeting the greatest poet of 20 / 21 century ! He loved buying Silver Dollars, at this nice pawn shop. Timmy simply made a masterpiece . Bravissimo to all on this film.
Timothée PLAYS and SINGS all the songs in this movie perfectly imitating Dylan's particular voice. He is AMAZING! A potential winner for the next Golden Globes and Oscars!
James Mangold made a coming of age story about Johnny Cash. Now he uses this character as the wise person why gives advice in another story. James Mangold has earned the right to do so.
Got hooked on Dylan in September of 1974 playing Blood on the Tracks while working off a really bad hangover in the back of a subaru wagon travelling from Saint Simons Island to Knoxville. Been part of my life ever since, will definetly be seeing this on the 25th.
I´m going to be watching because of Timothée but I´m so excited to learn more about Bob! I just went to listen to the songs that appear in this trailer and they are gooood.
I feel the same way. I hope they don't blow by all the acoustic stuff like Hard Rain, Masters of War, God on my Side, etc and jump right into the electric period. I realize there is a mountain of music to squeeze into 2 hours and I fear they will not do him justice. I hope I'm wrong.
@@marshhen Stop smoking drugs. Joni started very hit and miss and has, what, 3 proper great albums? Fine, I’ll give you 4. Blue, Court and Spark, Summer Lawns and Hejira. Dylan has 7 in a span of like 4 years. In his entire life? He has around 17. No disrespect but grow up.
I went and saw this movie today. I walked up to the counter and said one for Like A Rolling Stone. The girl instantly showed me the seats opened and said you was testing me. I said yes i was and you passed the test. By the way it's a great movie.
I love Bob Dylan. My Dad introduced me to him. He was a staple of my childhood. We had his mixtapes in his car and would listen to him on family road trips ❤
While I am excited to see Timothée as Bob, I’m also curious to see Monica Barbaro’s portrayal of Joan Baez too. She really nailed Joan’s speech patterns perfectly at 0:42!
I went up to Ed Norton at 5am in Mountainside, New Jersey and said “Mr. Seeger, whatever happens in Folk Club stays in Folk Club.” He nodded and I walked away. Mangold really was the right man with the track record and merit to execute this story.
Welp, and there goes Timothée Chalamet’s Golden Globe, SAG Award, BAFTA, and Oscar next year! 🎤 The range, the voice, the transformation-this man is coming for EVERYTHING. Bob Dylan should be proud!

@@CATDHD Umm Paul Mescal is getting a lot of Oscar buzz for Gladiator 2, and if the movie is a big box office hit, don't be surprised if he becomes the frontrunner. Sometimes the most deserving actor or actress doesn't always win, even if they get nominated. Just saying.
@@nikitamohan3390 yeah, sure. although, let's keep in mind that David Scarpa wrote the script for G2. The one who wrote the script for disastrous Napoleon ; besides, Scott never put characters first in his movies. In G1, Russel Crowe was a stand out because everything revolved around him, he was the driving engine of G1, they infamously started production without a proper script, and Crowe and Scott just sat and moved with script and story. This time, a mediocre screenwriter wrote a script. There is not much chance , even for a very good actor as Mescal, to pull off oscar worthy performance. Given how weak this year is , compared to previous, it is possible PM will get nominated, just like Scott (deservedly so, considering his portfolio) who also just might win for years of great directing .

He's going for his first Oscar for this role (and it's gonna be VERY well deserved), write it down
It’s exactly the opposite. You see Timothee always, especially here not a piece of Dylan - in anything.
I’m sorry and id usually agree but the accent in this movie is so bad i cant get over it
Lisan Al Gaib
@@leoribeirop He’s laughable trying to impersonate Dylan, just as in Dune trying to impersonate Paul, ie a prophet .
Are you blind or just not very observant? He plays himself 24/7.. and now he's just doing a cringe impression

Cate as Dylan was the best one for me but Chalamet here 🤌✨ The voice Chalamet’s voice 🤌
This better get him an oscar
A well acted and presented film that portrays a very self involved Bob Dylan, who wanted what he wanted. It showed him as an artist that felt he knew what his music should be and it wasn't what some producer wanted him to play. He wanted to lead rather than follow. The music was great, and personally I could have used even more of it. The back story of Woody Guthrie was sad but it did show the effect he had on people, especially Dylan. The supporting cast especially, Ed Norton as Pete Seeger was exceptional. I highly recommend this film.
Agreed
I didn't know why Woody was in the hospital so looked it up after the movie - he had Huntington's Disease, awful. btw, one interesting thing the movie captures about that time was that smoking was allowed even in hospitals, and even by the patients!
Saw this last night, loved it! Was almost crying at the end, it was so good. And I'm pretty big Dylan nerd, they all crushed it.
Can't wait to see this guy teaming up with Elton John, Freddie Mercury, The Beatles, David Bowie, Elvis Presley to save Michael Jackson from Doctor Doom in the Multiverse
Watch what the authors have in store for Pink Floyd
😅 lol
@@SymplyAmazingJD Pink Floyd biopic would be insane. Should be done right though. Maybe get Terry Gilliam to direct.
Doctor Doom is everywhere now. Now this. Great. Mephisto is probably going to be summoned by Black Sabbath in this timeline.
@@titusmccarthy you won't get a Floyd biopic. David Gilmour is never allowing that neither is Roger Taylor.
This has been my most anticipated movie of the year...RELEASE IT ALREADY DAMN
Brace for impact because this is going to be shit.
@@easyandy95 It's a 10/10 film. STFU.
Good movie, generally accurate historically (with a few things changed to make the story work better--some of them by Bob himself!). Best line of the film: "People always ask where the songs come from. But they don't really want to know where the songs come from. They want to know why the songs don't come to them."
That quote, and the 'you're peddling candles whilst he's selling light bulbs' hit me like a ton of bricks
He channelled Dylan
One of the screenwriters for this movie wrote for Rolling Stone and Time Magazine.
The trailer alone pretty much guarantees an Oscar nomination.
Exactly
this aged well
Chalamet deserves an Oscar; this is it. THey can't ignore this fella anymore; I wasn't expecting much but the he did very well in this trailer. Same as the Joan Baez actress
you gotta be joking, it looks like he's doing a bad snl skit
@@hendrixgeorge6189 I disagree; at least in the trailer he did quite nice imho. We'll have to see the whole movie
@@hendrixgeorge6189 That's because it's a trailer. You have to see his performance within the full context of the movie.

Been a Dylan fan since I was in middle school. Nearly 40 now and am so excited to see this film with a great cast and an equally great director. Mangold is a suburb choice.
He's a very good director. It looks promising.
Mangold always brings it. Just let him direct every biopic under the sun.
Timothée perfomance is gold man. He deserved an Oscar 🏆
Timothée PLAYS and SINGS all the songs in this movie perfectly imitating Dylan's particular voice. He is AMAZING! A potential winner for the next Golden Globes and Oscars!
Chalamet is out of his depth.
@@Shurehlm He's never out of his depth. Repeating those few words everywhere shows you're out of your depth.
He doesn't really have the airyness needed, he sings too proper imo, like a show tune singer.
@@AbcDef-ww2gy Have you seen Wonka? LOL!!
Doesnt imitate him well actually, BUT his voice is actually killer. Def looking forward to hearing his vox on the OST
That's some trailer. Can'wait. Timothee looks fine as Dylan. Fingers crossed.
My god! The trailer is worthy of an Academy Award!
James Mangold made a coming of age story about Johnny Cash. Now he uses this character as the wise person why gives advice in another story. James Mangold has earned the right to do so.
0:11 Look at Edward Norton's eyes saying "are you gonna meet with your expectations" ? Seems to me that's the message of the movie.
Is that the guy either the guitar?! 🎸
LIAR!!!!! U G0DDAMN LIAR!!!!!!
I don't think that's Ed Norton as Seeger. I think it's Scoot McNairy as Woody
WOODY GUTHRIE!!!!!
2:24 I feel like Christmas will be even more exciting now
This is absolutely wonderful! Can't wait for the film. Way to go Tim
Finally a decent trailer that actually gets me excited for the movie instead of spoiling most of it
Got hooked on Dylan in September of 1974 playing Blood on the Tracks while working off a really bad hangover in the back of a subaru wagon travelling from Saint Simons Island to Knoxville. Been part of my life ever since, will definetly be seeing this on the 25th.
Big Dylan fan for many decades , can't wait until December 25th. Music sounds great!
I´m going to be watching because of Timothée but I´m so excited to learn more about Bob! I just went to listen to the songs that appear in this trailer and they are gooood.
Timothée Chalamet was born to play this role! I had goose bumps during the whole trailer!
😅😅😅 We’ll see.
idk man it'll be hard for him to beat Cate Blanchett
Love Timmy and Bobby both. Hope this movie is successful!!
The greatest artist of the 20th century.
Loving the voice, Timothy's doing a good job
I absolutely love how Timothée Chalamet is leading the path for his generation of actors, truly the next Leonardo DiCaprio.
Nah, he's far better than Leonardo
I was thinking the next Depp.
@@Sad__House Leonardo had a great early career. See: Basketball Diaries, This Boy's Life, Gilbert Grape.

Way better than DiCaprio
This is about the best goddamned American songwriter in recorded history. It better be good.
@@h0gwartz the movie only goes up to 1965 New Port Fork Festival so probably only up to Highway 61 so mostly acoustic.
Well that would be Joni Mitchell, but she respected Bob Dylan and he was a huge admirer and friend of hers. He can be second best.
@@marshhen Joni Mitchell lol
@@marshhen Stop smoking drugs. Joni started very hit and miss and has, what, 3 proper great albums? Fine, I’ll give you 4. Blue, Court and Spark, Summer Lawns and Hejira. Dylan has 7 in a span of like 4 years. In his entire life? He has around 17. No disrespect but grow up.
I went and saw this movie today. I walked up to the counter and said one for Like A Rolling Stone. The girl instantly showed me the seats opened and said you was testing me. I said yes i was and you passed the test. By the way it's a great movie.
Did you get her number?
fell in love with Timothee and Elle in "A Rainy Day in New York", cant wait to see them together again
Honestly can't wait to see this. Chalamet feels perfect for this.
It takes a lot of gumption, fearlessness, confidence to dive in a project like this one. Looking forward to it!
I love Bob Dylan. My Dad introduced me to him. He was a staple of my childhood. We had his mixtapes in his car and would listen to him on family road trips ❤
I need this movie NOW... I'm a new fan of Bob Dylan (i love the "Country" stile of music) because RUclips recommend this trailer 😭
While I am excited to see Timothée as Bob, I’m also curious to see Monica Barbaro’s portrayal of Joan Baez too.
She really nailed Joan’s speech patterns perfectly at 0:42!
Yeah that was well delivered
I love Joan Baez. I'm excited to watch Monica's performance, too.
A feel good movie on Christmas, that's all what I wanted😊
Not even a Bob Dylan fan but I'll be watching this once it streams because Chalamet is a talent that can't be missed.
1:37 looks almost too accurate 😬 looking forward to this!

I went up to Ed Norton at 5am in Mountainside, New Jersey and said “Mr. Seeger, whatever happens in Folk Club stays in Folk Club.” He nodded and I walked away. Mangold really was the right man with the track record and merit to execute this story.
Haha. That's a good one!
Welp, and there goes Timothée Chalamet’s Golden Globe, SAG Award, BAFTA, and Oscar next year! 🎤 The range, the voice, the transformation-this man is coming for EVERYTHING. Bob Dylan should be proud!
"Your songs are like an oil painting at the dentist's office."
That might be one of the greatest burns I've ever heard.
That line caught me too. I was thinking maybe (hopefully) he meant "your music (oil painting) is too good for the world (dentist's office)." Maybe? 😆
I bet on Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold's movie to win an Oscar. ❤❤❤
100% NOT GONNA HAPPEN..!!! ------- He's not a great actor at all. Just a regular normal 'blah' actor.
He's no Brando, Cruise, Denzel, Brad or Russel Crowe..!!!
Just seen the film - a real walk down memory lane for me. Saw him in Manchester UK 1966. Great acting by everyone.
Okay, I am on board with this. That TC fellow actually does sound like the Zimmerman. And I think this might be a pretty fair biopic.

This film will be a great contender for awards season. Timothee Chalamet is definitely in the running for an Oscar nomination and win!
no chance . Adrian is winning for The Brutalist or Ralph Fiennes
@@CATDHD There are many good contenders. One thing is for sure, the Oscars will be good this year.
@@CATDHD Well according to test screening reports I have heard, it's not another Napoleon and follows in the same template as the first Gladiator. Those who saw the film have said it's definitely a frontrunner at the Oscars, especially Mescal and Washington for their acting performances.
This will win an Oscar... come back in a year or so to see if im right!
No
A movie about the greatest lyricist better have the greatest script! Looking forward to this

They missed the opportunity of having Joaquin Phoenix playing Johnny Cash once again but I am still happy Johnny is going to be in the movie 😄😂 ( I am madly excited for this movie) 😺😺
Phoenix is 50 years old. Cash should be around 30-35 in this era.
The real missed opportunity: cast Joaquin Phoenix have him on screen while Bob Dylan''s "Jokerman" plays in the background. 😉
Phoenix is too old now to play Cash at that age. Besides, they'd have to pay him big money for a small part.
@@atroyzHe looks more like Cash than ever now though.
Would've worked if Mangold made this after Walk The Line
Has a very "Inside Llewellyn Davis" vibe to it. @0:33 it felt anytime Oscar Isaac would be walking across the pub and exiting.. (IYKYK)
Kind of wild you say that too since there's the character cameo of Bob Dylan at the very end of the movie which I always really liked
Why do you think that is? The end of inside llewelyn Davis was Bob Dylan. That was Bob Dylan in Greenwich village which is where this movie takes place in mostly it appears. It's the same streets it's the same time period.
Same universe perhaps? Lol
Oscar Isaac reprising His role of Dave Van Ronk and Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash would have been Epic
Llewyn Davis was (very loosely) based on Dave Van Ronk- played by Joe Tippett in A Complete Unknown.
Is anyone else absolutely mesmerized by Timothee Chalamet’s voice. The guy is extremely talented as an actor and as a singer.
watched the Bob Dylan movie today, was great, lots of songs sung in there entirety, I watched some Dylan interviews on youtube before, the actor sounds the same, is really close & sings them himself, with the concerts I felt as tho I was there! 10 out of 10, Thank You for the Experience.
