I'll never watch Pirates of The Caribbean without JD, and I think everyone should do the same. Hopefully Disney will learn its mistake when the theater is empty on the opening night, and the days after that.

If Johnny Depp isn't in the next Pirates movie I will NOT waste time or money to see it. He is why the past movies were successful. Take him out and you've got nothing. The studio acted too quickly to separate themselves from DEPP and now they will be screwed. An apology to him means nothing now.
An apology made public, a raise in money, and promise of him being in any Pirates of the Caribbean movies in the future would be the only thing that would work. That means any voices for Captain Jack Sparrow too. I would say all of that would make up for it.

The main ridiculousness about this whole thread is that it's talking about Disney like Disney is a human being that can be your friend in the first place, or feel some kind of loyalty toward you. Disney is a freaking corporation. Corporations are not people and do not have feelings. Corporations are in the business of making money and that's it. Merchandising by Disney of the character of Jack Sparrow is the key here. If Mr. Depp does not share in the licencing profits, he must maintain that Disney owns the image and sale of any products derived from his portrayal. His response of denying further involvement with the organization is warranted and undeniable. Good for him.

As much as I support Johnny Depp in this. Being calm in the public eye means nothing. Abusers are manipulative, they WILL stay calm and charming in court or out in public. Victims will often break down in public, generally because they need a release from all the turmoil and and public is safe because their abusers won’t do anything to make themselves look like the bad guy. Also, I’d expect a victim to be breaking down in court, crying. I was definitely emotional in court speaking out against my abuser. I’m an Aussie and went to the USA, purely to take my kids to Disneyland. By far, the best attraction was the colour water display, particularly the Pirates of the Caribbean bit with Johnny’s voice blaring on loud speaker. It was exciting and hilarious. We came back days and days in a row to watch it. He MADE Pirates of the Caribbean for what it is today…. Which is a trillion times better than what it originally was without him. Rest assured, after what Disney has done to Johnny, I will never ever go there again or purchase any Disney product. Go hire Scamber Turd for the next Pirates movie, and good luck doing it without Johnny. Disney chose their side, very stupidly, and now Disney can GET FAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRCKED!! Rottenborn's got some front using this schtick about "respecting the court's time" as a ploy to stop people answering fully given his habit of repeating questions half a dozen times or more (not to mention his outright lack of respect toward witnesses who aren't accused of anything, but who he treats as if they are).

I've been through this kind of abomination, on of course a much more humble level. Like JD, I wanted everything witnessed and was willing to accept the exposure involved in revealing the truth. In the end, he will prevail in repelling her malignant parasitism, hopefully learn how to live a more authentic life without using either drugs or his "other brain" ... She did not ruin his life, she changed it. I hope he uses this experience to become a healthier, more peaceful man who can transcend his sick, Hollywood experience to become a powerful force for good. In time, Disney may reconsider having Johnny back. Pirates is one of the most successful live action, co-exist with amazing CGI and obviously casted phenomenally. Disney already had the ride Pirates of the Caribbean long before the first movie. The movie didn’t come out until sometime in the 2000’s but the ride existed sometime no later than 1990 or 1991. We visited Disney World when our son was 5 and again 7 and he rode on it and was born in 1983. He graduated from HS in 2002 and the movie came out when he was in college. Disney certainly increased their revenues from the movie and Depp’s portrayal but the movie was created due to the ongoing popularity of the ride.
