This woman talks to every witness as if they are a child in some serious trouble..like, accusing them of doing something bad.

Why do you think OJ Simpson got the likes of Johnnie Cochran and F. Lee Bailey for his team? Because he knew he couldn't win a fair trial, so he needed them to play the race card and harass the witnesses and just claim that Fuhrman planted the evidence to frame him when they knew it wasn't true.
Same thing is happening here. The main issue is whether Heard lied about the domestic abuse and if she was the one who abused Depp. But this lawyer is now asking irrelevant questions like if there's written proof that it was Heard's claims that cost Depp his PotC role.

I honestly don't understand how Heard's lawyers decided that this is a winning approach. The whole point is to win over the jury, no? Any civilian would be put off by the way that Heard's lawyers act.

Ambers lawyers are ridiculously rude. Cutting people off, lots of “you” statements posed as questions, an aggressive tone, being condescending towards the witness. You’d think at a trial that includes domestic violence claims, the lawyers would have an education in respect and nonviolent communication. Im shocked the Judge just sits there and doesn’t intervene.

She's not the worst one actually. Look up Johnnie Cochran and F. Lee Bailey in the OJ Simpson murder case. All the evidence pointed to OJ killing Nicole and Ron, but Cochran and Bailey treated the prosecution star witness, Mark Fuhrman, like the actual murderer just because he'd used the n-word.

I think what people have to remember is that the case comes down to the opinions of the jury. If we can see how belligerent and manipulative the lawyers are being, we have to believe that they will too. It doesn’t look good for Amber that they have to resort to such tactics. Hopefully it’ll help Johnny in the long run.

unfortunately the judge will make sure their decision is not biased, they will be told to focus on only the evidence and facts presented, their decision will not be made on the way witnesses or any party was treated, the judge's job is to make sure of that.

Because the trial is already fixed in AH favor. That’s why her lawyers are being allowed to do all their nonsense while JD isn’t even allowed to talk. Clearly shows the bias of the trail. I wouldn’t be surprised if the jury and judge finally ruled against JD and in AH favor. Good thing it’s being telecasted so the people will know the truth irrespective of what the biased trials outcome is.

I really hate how lawyers always ask out of context questions. To the average person, they understood the answer that "no document exists, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a deal in progress", but the lawyer, being a lawyer, just wants to spin it her way, without context. I really hate legal bs...it's so dishonest.
They want the word no recorded in the court transcripts because it’s definitive these witnesses are just rock solid because they are not giving the defense what they desperately want and need to prove their client is wrongly accused to be fair I think that neither of these two are saints but she is by far the worst of the two she’s very vindictive and manipulative overall not credible

It’s because they know the judge is biased and they have more air to breathe out without consequences. I saw amber lawyer behavior testing the rules and see how far they could bend them in the start of the whole trial episode after episode. The judge is biased and failing often even too insecure and unknowingly about objections and let’s ambers lawyers argue on why they’re right. Thats against law 101. At the same time ambers lawyers are proving what kind of idiots they are and how they have nothing to defend

Typing that i recall a Chomsky imnterview..or was it Sapolsky..hum...anyway...regarding the mental state needed to become a sucessfull Investmentbanker or hedgefond manager. The thesis was - based on some clinical studies, if i remember correctly - that for making decisions of that magnitude impacting so many lifes in such a devastating way, one needs to lack empathy completly as in one has to be a sociopath as in these people are ill/handicaped. It's really funny that the witnesses that Johnny's lawyers question never have to constantly clarify what they were saying, and neither do the lawyers stop them from clarying. It's almost as if Amber's lawyers constantly try to put words in their mouths and then not let them clarify or provide context.
That’s the whole point. The only way AH team can win is by catching witness of guard rather than exposing the tryth. It’s about pushing a narrative not about what the witness has to say

Regardless of whether or not it helps Depp to have the jury witness this horrible and unprofessional behavior from this lawyer, the judge should still have stopped the obvious abuse of the witness. This entire case is basically the reason lawyers can’t be trusted. Not everything is as simple as yes and no. Context is everything.

I agree BUT Camille demanded Yes or No from Amber too, we gotta recognize they are doing the same thing. They are lawyers, they need witnesses to answer the way they planned.
Well ironically studying the fundamentals of law teaches you this. Logic, reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, etc. All of this specifically teaches you the rules of engagement of knowledge and argumentation. The problem is that bad lawyers try to lie their way to winning because they actually rely on common logical fallacies in the hopes that the public won't recognize the lie or the manipulation of the facts/words. Good lawyers don't do this and in Johnny's case, his lawyers were VERY VERY good and in fact used logic and reasoning in frankly, quite poetic ways. In truth, it's likely partly because Johnny's side had the evidence on their side since it was clear he was telling more of the truth than Amber was. Thus, Amber's lawyers had nothing to fall back onto EXCEPT logical fallacies because otherwise they would be tasked with putting forward nothing but lies, so instead they merely tried to play with the rules and technicalities. For example saying "You've never seen it in writing that Mr Depp was to play Jack Sparrow in Pirates 6" and then act as if that is somehow merely a "Yes or No" question when really it is NOT, but it is only arbitrarily a Yes or No question merely so that the lawyer can attempt to frame reality as she sees fit because she has nothing else she can use as ammo. That's why so many times she is floundering and you can hear her say crap out loud like "oh I better not do that" and so on. I think it's probably also why she seems aggressive, she's trying to come off confident and as if the ball is in her court, when really, she probably knew quite soon that this court case was not going to go her way once the evidence and witnesses started coming out.
She is purposefully trying to conceal elements of the story, not letting the witness to fully explain - this is maliciously underhanded and mannipulative.
I mean why would she allow the witness to talk about things that can damage their case. If you stop them from speaking more than what is required, it's basically strengthening your argument. I don't see anything wrong in the tactic from an objective pov

@@joelt9034 I agreed with your first comment, it's a relatively beneficial tactic from the lawyer, but you've got it kinda backwards in your second comment. AH's team want the jury to believe that there was never an agreement of any sort between Johnny and Disney so Johnny couldn't have lost P6 because of the Op-ed, and they do this by having the witness answer 'was there a contract yes or no?' and then cutting off anything else the witness could say on the subject, because they know that while there wasn't a contract, there *was* a verbal agreement, and in Hollywood that is often all there is for a really long time when it comes to these types of deals. It's misleading the judge and jury by deliberately only presenting the parts of the truth that strengthen AH's side and cutting off anything that might benefit Johnny. It is, however, relatively standard practice (though ideally you'd want it to go much smoother than it did here) and is why cross-examination and rebuttal are a thing, so that Johnny's lawyers can ask the witness about any pieces of the story that might've been missed.

This lawyer is claimed to be in Top10 in several states. Now imagine what it takes to be a top class lawyer and now imagine that she might have got that by such harrasing of witnesses. What I have seen so far is just mocking, ridiculing and harrasing on one side, and a bunch of genuine marvellous individuals with endless patience and resistance on the other side. The sound guy, the psychologist, the house manager, the banker... The whole thing is simply disgusting.
I have a strong feeling that these lawyers have very little to work with, and knew from the get go that they are going to lose, so they're grasping at any minor thing they can in a desperate attempt to win or at least minimize losses

I remember in hs they were conducting this investigation and they told me if I lie and they discovered I was covering for someone, there would be consequences, which is the same thing AH’s lawyer did with the cop when she said “you know there are consequences if there’s misconduct from a law enforcement officer”. The way she gets argumentative when an objection is sustained is grandiose. A good lawyer would just accept it even though it wasn't helping their case. Think you're right about Turd's choice of lawyers being like her.
If I were in any of these witnesses' shoes, I would've broken down and cried out of frustration from being interrogated by this arrogant attorney. She wants her questions answered, but won't shut up long enough to get one that the witness feels is properly articulated, and seems like she's trying to put words in everyone's mouths. Props to all the witnesses for keeping their cool and being polite with their responses when she doesn't deserve it!
There's a saying among lawyers and this is giving the world an amazing example: you can know what type of lawyer you're dealing with in a trial when you see the client's behaviour. Amazing how well this is represented here.

@@jacobkudrowich Well, usually if an attorney's client is rude, the attorney will be rude. The clients usually choose lawyers that are kind of similar to themselves in attitude. When in a trial, you can clearly guess how the client is based on the attorney's attitude. I hope I explained it correctly 😅

I’ve seen multiple videos where the judge sustains a lot of mr. Depp’s attorneys objections. It goes both ways really. A lot of the witnesses give long winded answers when just a yes or no would suffice. A ‘good’ lawyer should try to make these answers easy to understand for not just themselves, but also the jury.
AHs lawyer’s tone and choice of words sound very obnoxious, but she’s doing her job quite well.
This isn't just harassment, it's also suggestive question phrasing, which I'm surprised is something she's allowed to begin with
What alarms me is how the judge rejects the objections of Depp's lawyers almost every time, yet Heards lawyers objections are seemingly allowed more times than not.

This correct, I’m taking a business law class in college, and verbal contracts are a thing but it’s really hard for the court to make legal actions because there are no written statements or negotiations, which is why an implied contract is extremely important

It usually is savage in court. They want to discredit the witness. Even trials of sexual abuse survivors and the accused, the lawyers can be so brutal when questioning the survivors they become so traumatized by the experience in court (on top of the trauma as the abused) they will pull out/no longer pursue the case against the abuser.

I predict that her conduct and tactics, the condescension towards, and lack of any measure of respect for, the witnesses is going to go a long way to sinking the defense. Providing a vigorous defense is one thing; acting like an obnoxious, rude, annoying and berating zealot is not going to help her client.

This case has nothing to do with the fact she abused Johnny tho, he's suing for defamation because of an article she wrote, and in that too she's 'guilty' because that article is in fact what destroyed his career and reputation.
Whether the jury decides to vote guilty remains to be seen, as getting someone charged with criminal defamation is extremely difficult. How they decide to vote has no bearing on the fact that she is guilty of both abuse and defamation in reality, tho.

no, for JD to prevail in this case he has to establish three things: 1) Amber's op-ed was about him 2) the claims about him in the oped (express or implied) were false and 3) the resulting libel caused him direct financial harm (ie loss of pirates 6). one way to show that the op-ed didn't cost him the pirates contract is to suggest that there was no contract to lose in the first place. this way, even if the jury is convinced that the op-ed was about johnny and johnny didn't do what she claimed, then Johnny still can't prevail because the necessary element of damages isn't there.
